ImageThe Story.

Their story started as any teenage love story would. They were high school sweethearts, and allowed their youthful naivety to control their feelings. Time meant nothing to them, because they lived every second in the moment, caring relatively little whether or not their choices were too foolish for their own good. They rebelled against their parents, and genuinely thought that they were head over heals in love. The plans they had made seemed like they were set in stone; running away seemed like their best option, despite how far-fetched the whole thing might've been at the time. Often times, they would run away together, but never for more than a few nights at a time. He would scrape up as much money as he possibly could in order to buy her things, or take her to nice places, and she would do the same in return. Each time they went together, they were convinced it was going to be permanent, that they were serious about running from their homes.

However, nothing of the sort happened. The guy's parents decided to move to a different area, after his father had been transferred to a different department at work. It seemed best for the family and he had no choice. A month after he broke the news to her, it was time to move. This, naturally, caused their biggest argument yet. Long story short, things did not end well between them. Harsh words were said, certain objects were thrown at certain people's heads in a fit of rage, and he stormed out shortly after. They've had no contact since the breakup, but that's about to change.

An underestimated reality TV show are holding sign-ups, where people will either volunteer themselves or two people that they know to participate in very long-winded trial, where in which they must escape to return home within a certain time; if they complete the task, they win. If not, they go home empty-handed. However, that's not the point of the show. It was made to help rebuild relationships, in a way. By chance, the friends of the two are sick of the fact that they're not getting along, and signed them both up to rebuild their relationship, because it seemed a whole lot easier for them, and at least they would get a laugh out of it. The two were somehow tricked onto the island, and the show always begins at the moment where they wake up. How will they react?

Connor Nicolson.

The last thing Connor remembered was visiting his mother's house for Sunday Lunch, mid-day, because he hadn't really spoken to them much since he moved out of their house and into his own. Any interactions he might've had with them started to slowly fade, until he would go months without seeing them. At the time of his visit, he figured his family members were acting quite strange - well, more than usual, but he hadn't really hovered over the issue for too long. As he recalled, he spend the day awkwardly attempting to make small talk. It got late, extremely late, and after drinking an excessively large amount of alcohol during the evening, he decided to stay in his old bedroom until the morning. Everything else about the evening was a blur now, and his vision was clouded by darkness as he slept.

As his eyes began to open, he was almost caught off guard by the blinding light of the sun and the heat it brought. His other senses started to kick in, but he had not yet come to the realisation that he was not in his bed. He lifted an arm to shield his eyes, and allowed his vision to clear and settle properly, letting off a disgruntled sigh. He almost felt as if he hadn't really slept at all, and just assumed that perhaps his bed had not been so comfortable. As he let his arm drop, he laid his eyes on his surroundings, and that's when it hit him.

"The fuck..." he muttered, setting both hands on the ground beside him. Sand. Just ahead of him was an ocean, and behind him sat a large woodland area. As for first assumptions, he just guessed that it might've been a dream, but that didn't explain why he could feel the sand when he touched it, and why he could process thoughts as he would if he were awake. He allowed himself to look around a little more as he pondered these thoughts, and noticed something - or someone - was lying beside him. He couldn't see the person, whom he assumed was female, properly because her back was facing him, shielding her face from his sight. He edged closer to the body, and peered over her shoulder. "Oh, damn," he whispered, returning to his original spot just a little ways away from her.

Connor didn't really know what to do, or say, so he just sat there for a little while longer. For some strange reason, for which he had no explanation, he was on an island with his ex. He figured she'd wake up eventually, as much as he wanted to avoid an argument. For all he knew, she might have some answers, though he kind of doubted it.

The last thing that Ana could recall was celebrating her brother's birthday. He had turned 25 and he took her out and they partied like they would if they were teenagers. Of course they drank a lot, but usually Ana could hold her alcohol, but this time she didn't Her brother practically dragged her to his house and she had to sleep on the couch. She had avoided going to her parents place because tension was too high between them. When she left them, they were upset and disappointed when she made it clear that she wasn't going back. She finally fell asleep and her senses were dull and her memory stops there.

She moaned a bit and she rolled over, but squinted as the sun hit her face. The sand was warm and clinging to her body. Praying it was a dream she knew that it wasn't. Slowly she pushed herself up and opened her eyes slowly. As she took in her surroundings she realized that shew as no where near her brothers home. She was on an island. Lord only knows how she got there, all she knows is that she is there. She ran her fingers through her hair and she shifted her gaze about the sand when she caught the body that was next to her.

It was Connor. Immediately she got up and moved further away from him. Why was she on the island with her ex? Why did it seem like they were the only people here? Why did he seem just as clueless as she was? So many questions were spinning through her head and she had a bit of a hangover. She tripped over a rock as she was backing away and tumbled back down into the ground. She looked back at Connor. "Why are we on an island?" she asked him as if he knew the answer. She could tell he didn't, but she was in a state of shock.

Connor noticed that Anastasia had started to stir, but he made no sudden movements or attempts to start a conversation, because she would most likely be as shocked as he was when she finally came to her senses. It was a fair bit of time before she spotted him, and recognised who he was, but still he made no sudden movements, until she stood herself up and shuffled backwards. He shifted his gaze to her and let out a gentle sigh, though it held the annoyance that his expressionless face did not. It was then that, in the midst of her shocked movements, she tumbled over a rock and, if they were anywhere else at this time, he might've laughed hysterically at it. However, the situation was a little more serious than that, so he just shook his head and shifted his gaze to face the ocean just ahead of him.

"Why are we on an island?" she asked, almost as if she expected me to know the answer. He shot her a look that read 'are you freakin' kidding me?' and shook his head once more, before he too stood himself up, dusting the sand from his clothes. It was then that he noticed someone had changed them. That was confusing, considering that he hadn't remembered putting any fresh ones on during the night. He was wearing the grey jumper that he wore all the time during high school, and it only just about fit him now. He fought the urge to smile at that, as it brought back so many memories. The most prominent of which being the time he'd gone to her house and they'd... well, you can figure that out. He'd actually blocked out that memory, somehow.

Connor then noticed that he'd sort of zoned out, and so he turned his head towards her with another huff of breath. "I genuinely don't know," he said, honestly. "I was hoping you would, to be honest." He turned around to face the woodland area and ran his hand through his hair, frowning slightly. He took a couple of steps forward, until he was right at the edge of it, staring curiously into the darkness. He wondered if there was anything or anyone in there, like a village or something. Someone had to have brought them there in the night, which meant there had to be people on the island. Unless of course they dropped them off and left via boat. He lifted a hand to his forehead and rubbed it aggressively as the curiosity began to fade and was soon replaced by an unspeakable anger, which was are.

"Of all the people on this earth, why the fuck did I have to be stuck here with you?" he spat, although he hadn't meant to try to insult her. It was an in-the-moment sort of thing, where he hadn't realised what he'd done until he'd done it.

Ana could tell by the look on his face that he clearly did not know where they are or why they were here and she felt stupid for asking. She stood up and dusted herself off. Quickly she realized that she was wearing a completely different outfit. It was a purple dress that she wore the same day she gave herself to Connor. The day has been burned in her memory and she put this outfit in the back of her closet so she would never have to see it again. Of course it was a bit shorter now then it was in high school. When she looked at Connor she easily noticed the jumper that she had to peel him out of when they were...Stop thinking about that she reprimanded herself.

Connor walked over to the edge of the woodland area of the island. She trailed behind him a bit, but she wasn't too close to him. Ana looked inside hoping to see something that looked showed signs of human activity. But it was hard to tell. It was thick and too deep. "Of all the people on this earth, why the fuck did I have to be stuck here with you?" Ana's mouth dropped and she just stared at him. Was he fucking serious! she pushed past him and walked into the forest. She didn't want to be on the island with him either, but she wasn't going to insult him since it seemed like they would be here for a while.

She kept walking at a fast pace hoping to leave Connor behind. But as she got further in the forest just got thicker and it seemed like there was no end. Eventually she stopped walking and leaned against a tree. She checked herself for a phone or anything like that, but like she had suspected there was nothing. She slid down the tree until she was sitting on the ground. "Why? What did I do to get put on this island?" she asked allowed to no one in particular. Of course to make it worse her ex was here, but she was keeping that to herself.

Connor kind of expected a bit more of a reaction from Anastasia, although he was relieved when she merely just stormed past him. He watched her walk carelessly into the forest, which he had been staring into for some time, and shook his head disapprovingly as she went further and further inside. Despite the fact that he seriously did not want to be around her, he couldn't just let her wander off without anyone with her. God only knows what would happen if he lost her and she was somehow injured. Even if there were people on the island, he didn't know if they were friend or foe, whether they would take them both in or attempt to sacrifice them, or something along those lines. With that thought having been engraved in his mind, he began to follow her into the darkness, at a pace where he wouldn't catch up to her but could walk close enough so that he wouldn't lose sight of her completely. He stayed silent, near enough for the entire journey.

When Anastasia finally came to a stop, so did Connor, and still he said nothing to her. In all honesty, he did feel quite guilty for insulting her like that and, even as outgoing as he might seem to some people, he actually had a very hard time dealing with feelings like that; the awkwardness would hit him harder than a wrecking ball would hit a wall, and so he often became shy and easily flustered. He watched her closely as she slid down a tree until she was sat on the floor, just little ways away from him. He stood up, but simply leaned against a tree instead. He huffed, and waited a moment before he decided to speak.

"Listen, I don't exactly want to be here, nor do I know where we are or how we're going to get home, but the last thing we need is to split up and get lost," he said, his voice much softer than it had been a few minutes before that. There was still so much tension between them, considering how they left things before they went their separate ways. From his point of view, the whole situation was out of his control, and she hadn't been very considerate of that at the time. He understood that the promise he'd made had been broken by his moving away, and words could not describe how sorry he was. He also understood that they could've ran away together at that moment in time, and saved themselves the whole trouble of the fight. However, it's all good and well when you talk about it, but when it actually comes to the point of going through with it, things become a whole lot more difficult. Perhaps she was just more ready than he was?

"We can argue about the past later, but for now we just need to find a way out of this situation."

"Listen, I don't exactly want to be here, nor do I know where we are or how we're going to get home, but the last thing we need is to split up and get lost," Connor said to Ana. She didn't look at him, but she nodded. Internally she was freaking out and she didn't know what to do. Her feelings for Connor having completely faded even though she had been trying so hard to move on. Every guy she has come across aren't a good compared to him. The only person she has slept with is currently stuck on the island with her. Things that had happened between them was clear on her mind and probably on his. Then tension was strong and they didn't end on a good note.

They were supposed to run away together. Although they have left home multiple times, they came back. This time they were supposed to leave for good. Pack everything up and never look back. But he had to move. It wasn't that she was mad his family decided to move, she was mad that he was agreeing to go with them. No matter how many times he said that he loved her and that the move wasn't his fault, she couldn't hear anything else but the sound of betrayal. He was agreeing to leave her and back out of everything they had planned. That is what broke them up. Not the move like everyone thinks it is.

"We can argue about the past later, but for now we just need to find a way out of this situation." Ana nodded again. Usually as an optimistic person she would be say that to him, but she was too busy freaking out. Of course she wasn't going to have that look on her face. After a moment of silence she stood up and dusted herself off. "Let's um go back to the beach. Maybe there were some other things that appeared on the beach with us," she suggested. Really there was doubt in her mind that there was anything out there, but she wanted to get out of the forest. She had a thing with being trapped. It was bad enough she was trapped on the island. She didn't want to be trapped in the forest.

Ana waited for Connor before she started walking back to the beach. She wrapped her arms around herself as a form of comfort.

Connor Nicolson.

Connor allowed his eyes to settle on Anastasia as she stood in silence, despite the fact that he'd spoken to her. It was almost unusual how quiet she was, considering she had been so outgoing and awesome while they were dating. It was then that he realised she was just as awkward as he was, and felt pretty much the same way about their situation. That made him feel a little bit better, though he couldn't exactly linger on that feeling too much because there was still the residual shock of being stuck on an island, with no explanations or clues as to a way out. As the silence fell between them once more, he looked around his surroundings and hoped for at least a simple sign of civilisation, but he spotted nothing in the short silence.

"Let's, um, go back to the beach. Maybe there were some other things that appeared on the beach with us," Anastasia said, and he shrugged because he highly doubted there might be something of theirs with them. He hadn't noticed anything when they were both there moments before, but he could've just been in such a state of shock that he hadn't spotted certain things at the time.

Connor began walking as Anastasia did, walking at a certain pace to keep himself just a little bit ahead of her. He hadn't noticed what she was doing until he reached the beach and turned his head to her briefly as he slowly came to a stop. His eyebrow creased slightly, before he looked away and tried to scan the beach for anything that might've been theirs. At first, he spotted nothing of interest, just a few rocks and such things, until he noticed that the spots they'd been lying on looks slightly strange, almost as if there was something just about visible hidden underneath the sand. "Look," he said, pointing. He walked over to it and began to brush away at the sand with his foot. "Hey, try yours, see if you can see what I'm seeing."

He had eventually resorted to scooping the remaining sand away with his hands, until he could see what appeared to be a small box. He pulled it up and eyed it suspiciously, before he attempted to open it. It wouldn't budge. "Oh, well, that's useful." It took a few more moments of looking, but he finally figured he could perhaps break it on a rock or something, and so he did. With as much strength as he could muster, he threw the box down on a nearby rock and picked it back up after it fell to the ground again. He was then able to fit his fingers through the gap he'd created and pulled it open after a brief struggle. "Oh," he said, almost sounding disappointed. Inside was nothing but a torch, a bottle of tepid water and a scrunched up piece of paper. The first thing he did was take the torch and stuff into his jeans pocket, and then took out the piece of paper to straighten it out. "Follow the path of forget me nots," he said, reading from the note. "Ooh, instructions, how exciting."

Connor turned to Anastasia at least. "What did you get?"

Silently they walked out of the woods. She hated that she was stuck her and with no sure way off. But it did reassure her that she was with Connor. Even though she was on the island it was better than waking up on the island alone or with a complete and total stranger. They got to the beach and she scanned it, but there wasn't much she could see. "Look," she turned her head in the direction that he was pointing. He went over to it and dug around looking for something. "What are you-" "Hey, try yours, see if you can see what I'm seeing." She watched closely and try to see, but she was shock when he actutally picked something up. Immediately she started digging around for something as well.

It didn't take long to find it, it was hard to open it. At first she tried to pry it open with her hands, but she couldn't get the box to open up. She saw Connor throw the box on a rock before opening it up. She placed the box on the ground and she grabbed a near by rock. Almost with desperation, she beat the box with the rock until it opened up revealing the contents inside. The sarcastic remark the came from Connor revealed that his contents were useless. "What did you get?" She pulled the stuff out. "A toothpick. A full water bottle. And a crumpled paper that said the same thing as yours," she said with a disappointed sigh. The water was great, but the other items were useless. What they supposed to do with this stuff?

With defeat she sat on the sand and just stared at the things that she had received. "Should we do what the paper says?" she asked. Clearly she wanted to do what the paper says. It could lead to good things or even lead to bad things, but she had to know. It was better than waiting on the beach and hoping that something would happen. She would go on her own, but their were several problems. She didn't know what a forget me not looked like. She did not want to go in the forest alone. And Connor said they should stick together and she agreed. Sighing, she stood up and grabbed the items. Hesitantly she walked over to Connor and waited for his answer before heading out.
