Still staring at the box as if it was some interesting piece of treasure, Femi started to shake it slightly. She heard some weird moving sounds from the box and shook it again.
"Peasant," the words were automatically out of her mouth, without second thoughts she immediately blurted what is in her mind.
She had duly grown up into an environment where there are only two types of people: the servant and the masters. In her case, she grew up with an abundance of servers in at her beck and call. Some may say that Femi Ahmose, the third child of Pharaoh Amose VII, but Femi doesn't care a nil about it. She had been taught by several of mentors that while she is technically of weaker power and control since she is a woman, still without a doubt she is higher than any other being next to the pharaoh and his council.
They repeatedly remind her that she is a princess.
She is someone who is destined into great things and while she will most likely be married to a successor or a large old balding widower of a pharaoh, she should be and must be given due respect at all times. Simply because of this, she had grown quite used to addressing anyone else she considers of lower status than hers, either 'peasant', 'merchant' or 'slave'.
She usually does care not a thing if she will offend others. It wasn't in her bones and blood.. More so, in fact, she can be as haughty as what someone of royal blood should be. She had been breed and trained about this ever since her childhood days- on the ways of the princesses. Ever since being able to think for herself, Femi is very much every inch aware of her social status.
Opposite to how she acts whenever with her people though, Femi is very kind to her servants. Yes, she does draw the line between the differences in their statuses, but she mostly doesn't get these things in her head. Femi stays as earthly-rooted as she can. She doesn't wish for bigger than life type of things and instead her only wish is the health and abundance of their land. To the wellness and prosperity of every life in it.
She gave the box a harder shake this time, her eyes unblinking as she waited for Takuya's response. "Ye," she started having trouble to cease the demanding tone in her voice, "Ye say to me."
She then gestured to the box in her hands and to the place around them. "Art those sorcery?" She asked, a very curious lilt in her voice. "Canst ye..", turning to open the 'cereals', Femi continued "say to me, how canst overmany cast magic here? Isn't magic naught but a fleeting illusion, over-flowered by such mouths that dost nary else but talk?"
"Anyway, back to the definition of cereal, it is made with grains that you see on the wheat fields, farmers come and harvest it and give it to huge buildings, the huge buildings called factories process the wheat/grains by cuting it down to small iees of it and they packed the grains to form multiple miniscule spheres." Takuya said to Femi
After the somewhat long explanation, Takuya walked to the check-out aisle and awaited in line to pay for the grapes and signaled to Femi to come over here.
"All of this is real, it isn't sorcery"
"We have machinery because it helps make our lives easier and because of this, technology developed and it made our world advanced"
"Anyway, back to the definition of cereal, it is made with grains that you see on the wheat fields, farmers come and harvest it and give it to huge buildings, the huge buildings called factories process the wheat/grains by cuting it down to small iees of it and they packed the grains to form multiple miniscule spheres."
Femi stared at him quietly, Takuya had continued to 'explain', spewing out words after words without ceasing. She didn't really knew what he was saying and Femi was more than half-tempted to either tell him to stop or walk away without second words. She wanted to tell him that she didn't know what was happening.
At first, she thought that everything was caused by sorcery. What else can explain a moving metal without the aid of a horse or a slave? What else can explain the opening doors without someone nearby to open it forcibly? What else can show moving pictures out of a black square?
Femi Ahmose, while never trained into every issue about on Esna, but still she read a lot. She had skimmed and also thoroughly read everything she can find in the archives of their palace. When she didn't know a single thing, she'd make it a point to ask the Palace Scholar the meaning of those. She's certain of it, more than truthfully she prided on it, on her never ending thirst for knowledge.
Spoiled and stubborn as she is, Femi never liked to look like a total unknowing idiot. One of the very things she hated is being called a foolish doll. Princesses are never taught. History repeatedly dictates on how Princesses, be Egyptian or not, are locked with their one true destiny. But Femi never believed in that. She did not dare let her self be caged with the old traditions that more often than not, causes unending grief to women of her stature.
She almost shoved the box in front of his face, her irritation having raised into that level where she only wanted to throw temper tantrum to emphasize her point. What does this mere peasant wanted her to look like? Does he want to show her that she's an unknowing fool? He spoke out words, machinery, spheres, factories, and a bunch of gibberish speech that made her think he's speaking in another language.
What is he trying to prove?
She care not a nil about factories or how they are cutting grains into spheres. She care not about a thing about this foreign land except that those concerns with her finally going back home. Squeezing the box tightly in her hands, she trudged next to him, throwing him a deadly glare when she noticed him gesturing to her. She stood next to him. She didn't dare utter a word, and instead she steamed beside him, looking at anything else except him.
If he would aim to make her look like a fool, then she would rather be mute and deaf. She'd rather keep quiet and observe the things around. If he won't help her, then she'd bid her time. She'll search for other people that could help her. She may not know a lot about this land, but she's certain. In one way or another, there will kindred souls here. People who will not hesitate to lend a helping hand, specially if she charms her way towards them.
It wasn't known in the land of her father, but inside the palace, on the place very near the black-haired princess' heart, Femi is famous for getting things her way. She'd do anything and everything just to get what she wanted. Usually, she asks for books, food, garments, dresses or her precious hair pieces. But now, the price is much higher than all of those combined. Her whole future is at stake here. She must do all she can to get this. And she probably, absolutely and undeniably will.
She didn't want to live here.
Not with this unknowing infuriating man.
Not with the unusual eerie moving metal boxes.
No, never. She would make it absolutely certain for her. She would never be stuck here.
"Look, Femi, I know you're angry but I promise I will try to get you back home starting tomorrow morning" Takuya said to Femi. As he arrived to the check out aisle, he gave the bag with the two bunches of grapes to an old man wearing wire-rimmed glasses. The man turned to Takuya after scanning the bunch of grapes and said to Takuya "500 Yen Please"
Takuya then gave the man 500 Yen and went out of the store with the bag containing the 2 bunches of grapes waiting for Femi to come out of the store
She had heard that other nations used it to pay for their goods. However this would be the first time she'd see one. The currency looked like plain paper to her. Staring at it as the man kept it in another metal looking box, Femi instinctively wondered about her spending. She don't have any inch of gold within her person. Even her hair dresses which could have been sold for more than fifteen pieces of gold coins, she doesn't have currently.
She felt her hope of returning home dwindling. She had rather been nasty to Takuya and she figured that if she will continue acting like this in his presence, he might just decide not to help her. Though she's confident she can charm her way towards others, still it would be much easier to ask help from this lowly peasant instead of making an effort to look for others.
It would be best for her to stick with this man for the moment. If she needed to stay here in order to get home, then she'd do it. She'll do anything she can to get back to Esna. Even if that meant trying to get along with this peculiar man.
Femi will ask him to teach her. He must teach her the ways of this land first. He should, and Femi will make certain of it, that he will teach her everything he knew. And when the moment comes that she's used to this land, she'd do anything to find a way to get home.
For this to succeed, she will try her hardest to be kind to him. If she needed to be submissive and obedient, she will do try. This means that she will not throw tantrum. Femi will be at her best behavior possible. Takuya will see the famed court version of Femi Ahmose, the beloved daughter of King Amuddalla Takutah Ahmose.
She sighed and followed him, unmindful of the unusual look that she noticed getting from the man behind the counter. She shook her head and closed her hands in a tight fist raising it in the air. 'Fight Femi!' She cheered inwardly, her earlier action causing the box to fall in the floor. Femi started walking, possibly going outside as she followed the brown-haired man.
The Egyptian Princess was on her way to the weird contraption when suddenly a hand caught her right arm. She suddenly toppled outbalanced and have almost slid down the floor when she noticed a large man behind her. "Excuse me?" She stated in an irritated bossy tone.
Just who does this servant think he is? Manhandling someone of her stature?
"Ye, sir", she spoke, mindful of her manners and recent vow. "What do ye want from me?"
"Miss, I'm afraid that you must pay for that cereal that you opened. Any merchandise that are broken or opened is considered sold", the black-skinned tall man said and he raised a the crumpled box of 'cereals' in his hand.
Femi paled and she turned towards the retreating back of Takuya Sanada. "M-my c-coins are with that man!" She stated hysterically not caring how she sounded. Pointing an index finger towards the brown-haired man, she tugged her hand off the man and shrilled once again in a clear voice. "My coins are with that man!"
Seeing the man apprehending Femi made Takuya go up to him. Takuya said to him "What's the problem here, sir?"
The large man said to Takuya "Well, your friend here opened a box of cereal and she has to pay for it"
Digging into his pockets, Takuya found some old coins, looked like it was from some ancient civilization. He didn't want to pay the man with the currency in his pocket due to the fact that it was ancient and worthless in this time period. Instead, he got enough yen out to pay for the ajar box of cereal.
The man who received the yen from Koichi thanked him and went off doing his boring and droll work.
Takuya then turned to Femi and said "Well, since you're not used to this modern land of ours, how bout I teach you"
As a princess, the black-haired girl prided and took great care of her beauty. She care naught about being called vain and materialistic. She took great measures just to maintain her youthful beauty. She would not dare make herself sleep more than the allotted schedule, and would always take a good rest in order to look refreshed and warmed up for the next day.
Having raised in a comfortable life with no worries for basic necessities such as food and with the undeniable power to have servants at her beck and call, Femi never experienced to be mistreated in one way or another. This was the second time that someone unwanted had forcibly touched her permission. The first one was when the unknowing man had inadvertently 'saved' her from that incoming metal box when she was having one of her theatrics in the middle of nowhere.
She blushed an obvious shade of red once again when she unintentionally recalled the position of their faces a while ago. It was the first time she came that close contact with someone of her opposite sex. It reminded her of the scenes from those 'trashy romance novels' she used to read back home.
After Takuya had paid the man what is due, he turned to her and asked her, "Well, since you're not used to this modern land of ours, how bout I teach you?" It took all of her willpower to stop the smirk from emerging in her face. Maintaining her composure and a doting expression in her face, she looked at him from under her lashes. She let some moments pass, as if pondering deeply on his question before replying, "Ye certainly will?"
Her tone was hopeful, humble and expectant, all combined to present an innocent yielding persona that would make the brown-haired foreigner go through his offer. Femi thought that if he would not offer her help at the soonest moment possible, she'd turn on her charms and ask it from him herself. Though she vowed to be obedient and submissive as she could, still she thinks that having hasten the process would do her not much harm. Thankfully though, he did himself what she truly wished for. Now that he offered help, she can finally have the means to comprehend this... this strange land.
As she stay here longer than she would have liked, studying and observing the unnatural place, Femi can say with certainty that she hated this land. It was so unfamiliar. So unreal and so magical... having him teach her about the ways of the people here would help her a great deal. "Ye will help me?" She repeated, gently placing an hand in his arm. "Ye will help me, though I don't have enough coins to pay ye back? Can ye explain to me in every detail why these unusual things are happening here? I've been naught but understanding of thy actions. For that, I want to express my deepest apologies. Everything had been overwhelming and finding ye in that terrifying place had been the highlight of this day. Can ye... can ye, tell me what is this place?"
She paused and took a deep breath before continuing, "For starters can ye explain me what is modern? What is this place called? And can we eat first? I'm so famished."
"Second of all, I will help you no matter what, I'll teach the ways from A to Z. Anyway, let's start off of where are we in, This giant marketplace filled with many produce, fruits, sweets and items is called a Supermarket. We're in the city of Tokyo in the country of Japan. Furthermore, "Modern" is such a complicated word. It means it is not ancient but it is from a recent time like today." Takuya said after he said his lengthy explanation from what Femi said as he started run out of breath.
"Now then, shall we go back to Kamikaze, the restaurant that we were just in?" Takuya said to Femi after catching his breath for a minute. Soon, he smiled and wrapped his arm around Femi's shoulder in order to express his happiness and joy due to the fact that he was somewhat having a good time with Femi.
She thought that she was going out of it, with the way everything seemed out of control. She had almost come into a conclusion that she was only imagining everything that had happened. When she had woken up from that strange place and up until now, she actually resigned herself into the knowledge that she somehow had been shifted into an illusion. An magical place with have things that she knew naught about.
Murmuring a soft and surprising "thank you" to the brown-haired boy, she continued listening to him and safely kept the coins into one of her pockets.
It means it is not ancient but it is from a recent time like today." Her mouth formed into an 'o-shape' when she heard his explanation about the 'S-supermarket'. So like in Esna, the places where people can buy different goods are still called market here... they somehow have added the 'super' part because this place had rather been more spacious and humongous compared to the usual sizes of markets she loved to visit.
Nodding occasionally in response to his words, she kept her whole focus on his speech. Now that he told her that he will help her learn things from A-Z, Femi figured that she must be focused and alert the whole time. Every thing that he will say will certainly affect her stay here at Tokyo. Tokyo-- Tokyo, Japan, he had said and Femi racked her mind for the position of the said land in one of the maps that she came across earlier when she was still studying different culture about their neighboring towns.
When have been done, she can definitely say that she's not familiar with this Japan Place. There had been neither town nor land that bears the name of Japan as far as she can remember. She was an avid reader and she had the tendency to recall most of the things that she had read. As a child of the pharaoh, she was interested with the places her father usually visits for his trade and 'peace talks' but not once did she heard him speaking about a land, or town, or desert actually, that is named Japan.
Analyzing things, she can conclude without a sliver of doubt that she is too far away from Esna, to not be able to travel to home just for the span of three days worth by a horse. If her deduction is correct, she can say with accuracy that she will truly need a ship to get back to Esna. She didn't know how long it would take for the travel but judging from her stash of money... she could affirm quite honestly that doesn't have the enough resources to be able to journey yet. Her coins only consisted of a very few gold and silver ones and upon seeing Takuya pay the man in a different currency, she can say that her coins is not going to be used in this area.
She was rather absorbed with her thoughts that she let out a frightened squeak when she saw a hand wrap itself into her from out of nowhere. "What are you doing?" Was her shrilly response, placing a hand over her heart and staring at Takuya expectantly. She raised an eyebrow snootily and took some steps backwards away from him. She was almost a meter away when she recalled her earlier vow. 'Be the nicest person you can be in front of Takuya Sanada.'
Cringing upon remembering that particular scene, she bowed her head and muttered a quick apology, "Please forgive me for my reaction. Ye just got closer without prior notice that I immediately panicked. Did you say we are going to Kamikaze?" She tilted her face in confusion and added, "Is that the place we had been beforehand?"
Inside though, she is silently fuming. Happy? Her mind repeats his reasons a little sarcastically. As a princess, physical contacts or any other form of sort is not lightly taken of. Even the servants take extreme care when they are touching her, and seeing the scene earlier made her irked and irritated. She fought the urge to throw a temper tantrum though. Still repeating her new mantra inside her head, she just smiled indulging.
"Now then, yeah, we are going to Kamikaze", he added before reaching out a hand and gesturing for her to take it. She wasn't sure if it had been a illusion on her eyes, but she's somewhat certain that he just winked at her. Suppressing the rising insult out of her, she beamed again. "Thank you, kind sir", she said as a response to his question and giggled lightly. She motioned into a slight curtsy and took out his outstretched arm, holding out a skirt in her left hand as if mimicking the English ladies during ball parties.
"Where is the place then, kind sire?" She cocked her head sideways and stared at him in the corner of her jade-colored eyes.
This Takuya person is absolutely an unusual and strange one. Mutely studying his features--he is handsome without a doubt. He's unnatural compared to the previous princes that she had the displeasure of meeting before. However he is still good to look at, even with that strange way of dressing. Letting out a charming smile, she then pointed to a random direction. "Is there that place?"
Steeling all her nerves, she then wrapped her right hand into his arms, "How will I be able to pay for those food? I don't think I have enough coins, my sire." She figured that it would be best if she charm her way into this young man. He did told her he will help her and with that Femi will ensure that every thing that she may need help will be taken care of by him.
"Where shall I stay, Takuya? Can ye do this humble Princess of Esna some of her request too? I will need some clothing ...preferably something that I am used to. I know these will be a lot, but I humbly ask for thy help. I know nothing else in this land. I fear that I may meet mischievous and tricking lads and lasses if I ask others for assistance. Will ye be fine with this?"
She took a deep breath and focused her green-hued orbs at the brown-haired man. Now that she got her intentions straight, or some of it actually, she deeply hopes that he will understand it. 'What if he doesn't have enough coins himself?' Femi had a sudden alarming thought. She paled at the idea and hoped that he is wealthy enough to support her and her needs. It won't do her any good if he's worth is just that of a servant's, penniless and poor.
She was half-tempted to open her mouth and ask him, if he have riches enough for the two of them but thankfully she was able to restrain herself. It wouldn't do her anything great if the man will think that she is taking advantage of him. ...She wasn't. After all, Femi had explicitly asked him now. She had questioned him, by truthfully informing him--albeit not in a direct manner, that she doesn't have appropriate coins to be able to adapt normally in this land.
"I also have a question. Why are ye masses dressed like that?" She pointed to his clothing and then to the others who are walking away and minding their own businesses beside them.
I'll just post my idea here, Please tell me if I am overstepping some GM boundaries or something:
Hey can we fast forward this a little? Immediately after this post or the next, it depends on you. Just that we hasten the day... for me, it felt like they have been taking a very long time ever since they met at the museum.
Can you make a long post or something near for that skipping part? Just tell and skim about what happened to Femi and Takuya, i.e. lessons about Tokyo, welcoming Femi into his home and many others, I think the important thing is showing another scene.
In this scene, I was hoping that you take it into a period/timeline where Femi can partially speak and understand their language a little -Possibly because of Takuya's patience to teach her before hand. She will still have slight trouble with normal modern speech, but I think I am losing my touch with archaic type of speaking. >.<
I am also planning to introduce a new character, someone that will create a little conflict for the two of them :D. It will be a female character, she'll just be a minor/slightly major one... is this ok? If you have something planned for this RP you can tell me some details. ^_^
I am still somewhat lost about the plot line of this RP, aside from developing romance with the two of them, I think we should work out the other details.
))
"Kamikaze is this way, your majesty" Takuya said to Femi with a suave and debonair smile on his face. It was rather helpful and suggestive in the way Takuya worded it in such a formal way for the princess. As soon as they arrived back to the restaurant, the waiter was rather frustrated but he managed to pull off a tight-lipped smile and said to him "Welcome back, your food is already on the table, it's warm". Takuya checked the clock and it was rather late. In an assertive manner, Takuya said to the waiter "I'll have these to go, please" and then he gave the money to pay the waiter for the food.
Remembering the question that Femi asked earlier about why people are dressed in such a modern way. Takuya fought with great difficulty about the complicated matter of fashion and soon, he responded "Well, Fashion has evolved as time went by, I apologize, Fashion for me is pretty complex for me".
After getting the food in the bag, Koichi waved frantically for a taxi and it arrived with a skid and awaited for Femi to get in the taxi so that the both of them could go home.
(It's the best I can do in terms of skipping, in my next post, I will definitely skip ahead)
She doesn't know what those foods are called, and her limited knowledge about the differing cuisines all over the world is just that... minimal and restrictive. She then decided that it would be better if she will let Takuya order for her. The black-haired Egyptian princess is certain she'd embarrass herself lesser that way
Meekly looking as she bowed her head low, unfitting for someone of her high stature, she just stood still and waited for an opening to tell him her order. She only raised her head when she saw the familiar man who had asked her before. She noted how dissatisfied and a little miffed he had looked. She turned around once and roved her green-hued eyes around. She wondered if it was because of her dress, something that is totally unusual from their own. Or if he was upset because he knew full well that Femi had nothing enough to pay for all that she will consume?
When she turned to her companion, she saw him looking at something in his hand. It was something that greatly resembles a pocket watch, but is distinctly used in a different manner. She then cocked her head confusedly; with the way she heard things, it made her think that they are now not going to eat inside the place.
She was about to open her mouth, to share a small protest however Takuya had already presented the man some of that paper currency. The man soon left after and she felt her heart dropping. That man was the only way for her hunger to be quenched! Why did this unknowing Takuya let him leave?
To her surprise though, not soon later, the man returned. This time, he came back with two goods in hand. As she smelt the unmistakable scent of warmly cooked food, she approached Takuya Sanada closer.
"Well, Fashion has evolved as time went by, I apologize, Fashion for me is pretty complex for me", he spoke out of the blue and she was temporarily stopped in her ministrations. Fashion? What was he talking about? She was about to ask him why he said those things, when she was suddenly reminded of her earlier questions. Ah! She recalled triumphant, she did asked him about their sense of clothing here in this strange land, in this new and foreign continent... Tokyo, Japan. She had thought that he didn't want to answer her, like what had happened to her earlier musings but it seemed that he had another plan. She settled on nodding agreeably to what he was saying.
Smiling somewhat faked as if she understood his predicament and vague explanation, she faced him and said as a response, "Ah, yes. You are most kind, I thank you for that answer." She then stepped besides him and watched as he waved his hand stupidly into nothing. What is he doing? She was once again tempted to ask, thoroughly disturbed with the man's foolish antics. He was waving his hands into the air for quite a while now and what bothered the spoiled princess was the way no one else seem to care about his stupid actions. All the people walking in various directions acted as if Takuya's motions were something that are normal.
Shaking her head inwardly and fighting the groan that was threatening to come out, she was shocked when she saw a metal box stopping directly in front of them. Remembering the way it moved even without a horse from before, she sat down next to Takuya and leaned into the glass-like contraption, tightly holding herself securely. Several minutes later and the box moved, jostling her and her companion a little. .
"Whither to goest?" She finally inquired after a few moments of stillness. She closely studied her surroundings and saw a wheel-like thing in front. It once again confused her, since she knew full well that wheels are used under carts and stuff, but she just kept quiet. "Whither to goest?" She repeated and stared directly at the black-haired man.
((Thank you for the information.. I'll wait for that opening and the skipping part then. :]))
As the taxi drove along the highways, "We're going to my house, It's late but most of all, I want you to be settled here and that's important" Takuya said after hearing Femi's question. It was rather silent after the question and yet, Takuya kept a brave face and smiled. Minutes later, the taxi arrived and stopped at a modern house. It was built in a minimalist style blended with traditional Japanese influences. Takuya opened the door of the house and it revealed a beautiful courtyard which was growing with cherry blossoms.
"Well, let me show you around the house." Takuya said. He had a welcoming aura and a warm smile. After showing Femi around Takuya's lovely home, Takuya took Femi outside to show a beautiful view of a cascading waterfall. The timing was right to show her this since it was night. Takuya didn't even say "Well, what do you think?", the words that he thought of couldn't even be said. Takuya then looked at the sky and it showed a display of twinkling stars in the dark blue sky.
(6 Months Later)
It has been 6 months since Femi had been in Tokyo, Takuya still can't figure out how to get her home and it was so frustrating but he didn't want her to go home. He liked the moments with her, he taught Femi some things and they were stressful. However, it was all worth it as Femi knew how to speak some of the modern language that Takuya taught to her. Staring out into the sky, Takuya shook his head to snap back to reality and took a sip of his green tea that he had prepared earlier.
(All right, xKyrie, I skipped ahead 6 months later in the RP, please let me know if you want to change some things, XD)
Thanks to Takuya's persistent and surprisingly patient teachings, she was finally able to live as normally one person could in this unnatural land-- in Tokyo, Japan. At first she had been hesitant, she didn't really think that she can absorb and learn all of the things that this alien place had showed compared to her own beloved Esna. Her will and motivation served as the main drive for her to persevere and before she knew it, she was able to adapt to the customs of this society. With full of the present difficulties, she can attest to that but still, she had succeeded and that is all that matters.
However, don't get her wrong, she can still remember what that fated event had caused her, like it just happened yesterday. She can vividly recall the brown-haired man's gaping eyes as she went out of that weird disgusting like-thing which she would later learn on what is called as a sarcophagus. Even the guard's angry face as he shooed them out of the museum, she can still cite with certain clarity.
She fought the urge to giggle as she was reminded of how ignorant she had been. Now that she unarguably knew a lot more about Tokyo than she did months ago, she realized how wrong she had been. She can still look back thinking of Takuya Sanada as an unknowing man who she had the unfortunate displeasure of meeting. Because she knew nothing else in this land, she almost got herself killed from a moving metal box. Just imagine her total mirth when she finally understood how those things works. According to the lessons at the school, cars can move because of gasoline which is converted into rotary motion.
If she will think about it deeply, all those things that they had thought of as magic back at home can really be simply explained by science. Even her stay here in 'Earth' can now also be calculated. Long ago, she was used to having the blazing sun as her guide for the number of days that she needed to count. She had actually prided herself with her ability of reading the position of the sun compared to the other scholars of the palace.
Imagine her utter shock and humiliation when she found out that not only can people determine accurately how to count the days, they can also exactly tell the 'time' of that particular day.
Shaking her head off the thoughts about science and related stuff, she ran a hand through her hair. Since she had been about to sleep, she idly let her hair free of its usual bind. It had been a habit that she acquired in her stay here, though the weather was nice, trying to learn everything at once about civilization had been absolutely stressing for the Egyptian Princess. Donned in a comfortable pair of silk pajamas, she covered her mouth trying to block the incoming yawn. The night breeze blew softy and she once again found herself lost in her musings.
She had stayed far too long in this land. She had learned too many things that before she noticed it, she had well-adjusted herself into the social norms.
Though she greatly loved her only hairpiece, she was forced not to wear it like she had usually done. She deemed it too important to lose and had decided to keep in securely in her little box of treasures. Takuya and his family had been very nice to her. Aside from giving her the daily basic necessities, they had also made it a point to give her things more than what she actually needed.
Smiling wistfully at the blessings she had have received at this foreign land, she stood up from her position and went out of the room. No doubt, she still had a long way to go, as far as being knowledgeable is concerned. But gauging from her initial experience and status compared to the Femi currently, she can definitely concur that she had learned a lot.
Takuya had been a great help, and Femi almost felt ashamed of her initial reactions about him. Reminiscing, she had been absolutely nasty to him even though he had only clearly wanted to help her. Instead of being grateful like what her mentors had taught her to be, she paid him back by disregarding his opinions and making a temper tantrum, creating a scene just to get what she wanted. It was something that he obviously doesn't deserve.
Blushing as she recalled how she wanted to trick him into helping her, she ducked her head consciously. Keeping the stray hairs behind her ears, she noted the time when they had rode the taxi as Takuya brought her to his home. It was the very first time that she arrived in this humble abode and she can still feel the emotion she had when she saw that indescribable scenery he had shown her.
It was the dark blue sky was glittered with display of twinkling and shining brightly stars.
If she was honest with her feelings, she can confess that she liked staying here in Japan. Though she wasn't treated as a princess, Takuya and his family had been nothing but accommodating and helpful to her. The brown-haired man's friends were also a delight to be with. That and learning more and more about how things work almost makes Femi Ahmose falter in her desire to go back home, back at Esna.
It had been exactly six months since she last came here. Six full months of struggles and joys as she studied everything she can come across.
There had truthfully a time when she almost forgot about going home and had started doubting her unyielding will to continue finding ways to do so. A moment of strange rarity where she had instead focused on the beauty and captive serenity of the moment that she's experiencing in Tokyo. Tokyo was a busy city-- so much busier than home, in fact. People bustled around and around, bumping yet not totally crossing paths as they went ahead their own lives... but she enjoyed it. She had strangely thrived on the far differing circumstances compared to the very town that she had grown up with. She delights in meeting new people. She loved talking and connecting with others. And more importantly, she greatly adores the way she can see her fantasies happening in this certain place.
She was about to enter the kitchen, preferably to fetch herself a glass of water when a familiar figure sitting in the patio caught her emerald-colored eyes. Smiling in reflex, she made a U-turn(another of those words that she had got) and approached the relaxed stature of Takuya Sanada as he stared outside.
"Hello Takuya!" She softly said aware of the sleeping occupants inside the house.
Although, Takuya has a huge workload for school, he can still juggle with school and his friendship with Femi. Anyway, Takuya kept a smile on his face and added "Is there anything you would like to discuss?" to Femi. He sipped on his green tea and sighed as he breathed the fresh forest air since the house was near the forest and outside of the house was a nearby taxi stop. Awaiting for Femi's response, Takuya calmfully slowed his brathing to hear what Femi had to say.
Though she had only been here for full six months, Femi can say with certainty that she liked Takuya and his family. It wasnât because they are wealthy and in turn are able to provide for everything that she may need. Itâs not also because they had been accepting of Takuyaâs unbelievable explanations when they first saw her as he took her to his home. And itâs definitely not because they are tolerating her even until this time despite her temper tantrums.
For the Egyptian Princess, Femi can say that they are very much like her own beloved family. The Sanadas are among the people who are with absolute sureness, the closest to her heart. They held such warmth and sincerity that canât fail to make the princess feel truly blessed and loved within their presence. The security and safety they provide are only the few from those of commendable things that they continue to shower her with.
Beaming, she got lost with the thoughts of Mrs. Sanada, a successful manager of a bank (-which she had learned of, is an establishment where money are kept) and the mother of the two siblings. She was reminded of the womanâs worrywart personality and was washed away by a sudden onslaught of emotions. Sheâs truly an amazing woman. Femi thought. Not only is she a great mother, sheâs also a charm and a blessing as she had tried all her best to care for Femi, the green-eyed foreigner, as one of her own child.
His little sister was also a delightful companion above anyone else notwithstanding Takuya. She was a doll, such innocence and breath of fresh air that whenever they are together, Femi only has two set of feelings: merriment and such youthful energy.
Mr. Sanada, though they had not talk that much is a very intelligent man. She had heard earlier from her resident classmate and mentor that being a lawyer there is little to none chances that his father gets deceived by any other person.
Being the patriarch and breadwinner of this houseânot that Mrs. Sanada doesnât help with the issue of source of money for the family, Mr. Sanada controls the family in a way that greatly reminds Femi of her very own father. He wasnât a ruthless man however, just like the paraoh, he knew when and where to instill his influence and discipline in a situation.
Though it was still an unfortunate experience for her, to be far away from her family, that is; still, Femi knew with clarity that above all, she will eternally be ever grateful to have met this family.
Femi never imagined herself meeting people like they are⊠This family that she just had the pleasure of meeting and staying with for the past months were truly wonderful gifts for her.
If she would be asked what would be one of the highlights about her inexplicable presence in this land, without doubt, sheâd cite these people as one of the many and the most she cherished for the list.
"Is there anything you would like to discuss?" Takuyaâs next words had broken her reverie and she cocked her head sideways and sought his eyes in the darkness. Silence prevailed over them as she mulled in her head on what to reply.
Upon noticing their current position, him and her meeting in the porch under the light of the moon, she unexpectedly flushed once again. Looking around any other thing but him, she was oddly reminded with one of the stories she had read. There were many ways their present scenario can be interpreted and it was unarguably not the correct meaning it should have been read.
Their eyes met in the darkness, their glittering orbs crossing as they sought each other in the dim light of the moon⊠the two individual suddenly felt the urge to shorten their distance and feelâ
She quickly shook her head, placing her hands on her reddening cheeks and deftly vanished away the remnants of her daydream. âWhat are you doing Femi! This is Takuya youâre talking with!â
Still shaking her head, she sheepishly smiled at her friend and answered his query, âN-noâ.
She did her best to pretend that she didnât just stutter and instead shrugged coolly. âIsnât it a wonderful night? Why are you still awake?â Her voice was still soft, low that what is normal for her, but still loud enough to be heard.
âTomorrow we still have school, are you done with the assignment? The others are already asleep⊠donât you feel cold just standing out here?â She knew she was babbling as what she does when she's nervous but she canât help it.
There was something in the way the moon seemingly shines brighter than it usually does or how the stars seemed to wink relentlessly at her from afar, Femi doesnât know. Gulping, to cease herself from dishing out another ramble, she smiled at him nervously.
âGoodness Ra! What is happening to me?!â
She thought dismayed with the way sheâs currently acting around the Japanese boy. She had been with him and his family for a quite a while now but sheâd never been like this before.
Groaning inwardly as she tried to stop embarrassing herself further, she moved away from him and sat on a one of the garden chair nearby.
((I hope Femiâs actions wouldnât be misinterpreted! XD))
Staring at him wide-eyed, she mutely watched as he settled next to her, looking all relaxed and calm. He told her that he had finished the assignment and stretched. There was nothing else she can do but stare at him, confused, bewildered, shy and silencedâall the feelings rolled into one. It was only when the brown-haired man told her that he was sleeping and leaving out of the garden that she felt herself breathe in and calm down her loudly beating heart.
She placed a hand over her chest and gazed at his leaving form almost unable to response when, thankfully, common sense got ahead of her, and she was able to dish out till the last minutes, a hurried goodnight. âGood night, Takuya!â
She didnât know if he heard her but at least she tried not to appear rude or⊠or worse a bumbling fool in his presence. She had not one clue with what is happening to her. Blushing and stuttering in his presence?! Gah!
Shaking her head and lightly patting her cheeks, she then settled on looking out the starry sky once again. Stars⊠if you mention or asked her about these brightly twinkling things plastered on the sky months ago, all you would have gotten from this girl would be a blank stare and a lost expression painted in her face.
There are too many things that Femi learned because of staying here in Sanadaâs home. To say the least, not all of them were good. Specially that history thing! There are many things that Femi would rather not want to learn at all. The unexplainable deaths, the war, famine⊠these are only few examples of the horrifying things that she learned off.
Takuya, true to his words had helped her with the best that he could. He painstakingly went all measures possible just to teach her details about staying in Tokyo and the way how the world works. At first, she was hesitant to study and tackle about the different pasts of various places. She thought that since she is living in Japan, all she needed was to learn more things about the Japanese and a little bit of its history to survive in this era.
Being at school and taking some of the same classes with Takuya made her change perspective though. Those sometimes pesky and irritating assignments helped greatly to widen her perspective.
Femi was actually not sure in what timeline she actually lived. She also didnât knew if hers was the past or the futureâwell, okay hers looked more like the past, especially if she compared the living standards with her former village to this one. And if that assumption was correct, then as what is explained by science, it would be quite impossible to get back. Thatâs what recent studies show, as far as she knows. However, knowing this doesnât cease one bit, her drive to go home.
In fact, while she is still honestly divided, torn between enjoying her stay here with the Sanadas and wanting to see her parents and their people once again, still, the motivation to see the familiar faces back at Esna is still stronger than ever. âFather, MotherâŠâ, she whispered, the words taken by the cold drifting over the darkness. âAre we staring at the same sky?â
She stayed like that for quite a while. After few moments, possibly an hour, she yawned and decided to take a sleep. It was unhealthy to stay up late, given the numerous activities she will have at the school, but she canât just turn in for the night as easily like before. Thankfully though, the eluding sleep had finally found her, and after arranging the chairs, she went back to her room. She did not bother to open the lights, seeing that sheâs quite used to moving around in the dark. She found her bed and promptly lied down. Few minutes later, she fell asleep, still seeing her father and mother loving faces as she closed her eyes.
He huffed and puffed breathlessly as he looked out of the window. It was morning, the sun shone at his eyes. He went to the bathroom to brush his teeth and styled his hair with gel to make it spiky. After getting out of the bathroom. He changed to his school uniform and got ready for school with backpack in hand. However, he must wake Femi but he wanted to be polite and he decided to knock lightly on her room's door. He crossed his arms lightly and wore a smile on his face as he awaited for Femi to awake.
Fighting the urge to either cry or scream out in frustration, she took the comforter off on top of her and went to the adjoining bathroom in âher roomâ. Though she thought she can finally try to live as much as she possibly can in this era, it appeared that her dream had once reminded her of what should be her goal.
Yes, Takuya and family had been nothing but welcoming and loving for her and her presence. But that dreamânightmare if you look at it in another angle, had clearly showed her to never lose focus for her ultimate purpose for staying here.
Wetting her face with the use of a towel nearby the sink, she looked at the mirror in front. Her wide green eyes were staring back at her, and she immediately noticed the bags forming underneath. This is the result of several sleepless nights where she always dreamt of her life back at Egypt.
ââTis I do not wantâ, she uttered exasperatingly lightly tracing the darkened spots.
After a few moments of speculating herself, she finally decided to make a head start for the day, seeing that she canât fall asleep once she got out of her bed. Shedding her clothes off one by one, she neatly placed them to the side after folding those, and opened the shower curtain. She made sure to set the water to the right temperature before she turned the knob on and went under the shower.
Knowing Takuya, he will be outside her door later on-- on the dot wanting to wake her up early. Their school was strict on schedule, and Femi would rather lose some sleep than get humiliated by arriving at the campus late.
When she was finally done showering, she went out, donned in a bathrobe and searched the closet for her uniform. As what is her usual routine, she made sure to ready all the things she needed for school every morning.
Upon seeing the organized books on the table near her bed, she canât help but smile. She recalled the time where her brown-haired friend had painstakingly taught and showed her the horrors of Math, specifically Trigonometry and Algebra.
At first she didnât think sheâd be able to learn it, she was actually having trouble with school and now that their teacher had assigned them with yet another heavy lesson, a thing her brain canât seem to cope with, she really thought she wonât be able to absorb everything. Thankfully, Takuya was there and he did what he had promised her, he helped her through all the lessons. He taught her about the things that he knew, the best that he could.
With her smile widening, she decided to put her books inside her bag and she readied her things for the class later that day. She turned to look at her mirror once again and stared at her well-ironed uniform and at her face. Now that sheâs finally ready for school, sooner or later Takuya would be outside waiting to go with her for their class.
Once she heard the familiar knock, she immediately went towards it and opened the door, âGood morning Takuya!â She cast him a smile and went over to her bed, where she arranged her things, and got her bag.
She just hoped that he wonât notice the âmake-upâ she had used to conceal her sleepless nights. She was grateful to some of their female classmates who had shown her how to use concealers in order to âconcealâ the growing eye bags. It was such a shame they didnât have this wonderful âwomanlyâ things at her period. If there was, it would be certain that it would be great help to the women of that era.
She beamed and looked towards him, noting him being prepared for school, like what is usual.
âAre you ready now? What is for breakfast?â She asked, unconsciously staring underneath her lashes and waiting for his reply.
His mother never failed to cook them breakfast, and for that she was eternally thankful for ever meeting a family like the Sanadaâs.
Though it wasnât obvious at her size, Femi can be a large eater if she wanted to. In fact, eating a humongous amount of food for breakfast is one of the basic things for the Egyptian princess.
Especially now that they are attending school, for her half a year stay here at Japanâs she had grown used to their scheduled eating time.
Though it was rather hard at first, since she was used to being served food every time she wanted to, she had finally grown a little used to their way of living here.
"Shall I walk you to your table?"
He had jubilantly and gentlemanly spoke, reaching a hand out to her. She couldnât help but laugh as she noticed his charming smile. Giggling, the Egyptian princess took his hand and teasingly said, âWhy kind sire, I will be glad to accompany you to the breakfast table!â She had tried to mimic one of those girls that they had studied in their history class. Those who are in medieval era if she had remembered correctly⊠With her hand gathering the sides of her skirt, she made a simple-mock curtsy and grinned at him.
Femi took his outstretched hand on her right hand with her bag into the other and dragged the brown-haired boy downstairs. Eyeing her classmate and resident closest friend, she studied his expression. It had surprised her. With the way she seemed to be in a playful mood today of all times. The smile never got off her face and the only thing she can think of was to make the person besides her do the same. It was a good thing that Takuya is feeling chirpy. Else he might mistake her playfulness in a different light. Femi doesnât really want to create an awkward situation between them. After all, during the six months with his company, she had grown fond of his presence.
They shared a lot of memories that she just canât forget rather easily. For example, just like yesterdayâs scene. What happened last night was their secret. That was it. And they wouldnât dwell that much about happenings like that.
The lack of sleep had been disregarded in favor of facing another new day in a happy mood. She was rather glad that it worked well in their favor (even if they are somewhat sleepy).
They are expected to be at school for this day--- later on actually. And while she enjoyed schooling, there is really just several times wherein sheâd rather stay at home and lie in all day.
Still slightly dragging Takuya towards the dining room, she immediately smelled the delicious scent of breakfast wafting from over the room. She reflexively let go of the boyâs hand and went to Takuyaâs mother. She smiled widely as she addressed the older woman (who is someone that became her mother figure here at Japan). Mrs. Sanada is really a caring and interesting person. She never failed to make the black-haired teenager all warmhearted and gooey every time they talk.
âGood morning Mrs. Sanada!â Her voice was cheerful and lively. Kissing the woman on the cheeks, she then pointed to the selection of food on the table, âthe breakfast looks delicious as usual!â
âLetâs eat Takuya!â She shamelessly invited, turning to the one she forcibly pulled downstairs once she had seated and took hold of the fork and spoon.
âIt was truly a great blessing to be included in a family like this!â She thought still emanating a bright aura as she ate quietly.
After a while, when their both done, she faced Mrs. Sanada- who had eaten with them along with the other members of the family and beamed, âWe will be leaving after cleaning up. Thank you for this wonderful meal!â She courteously turned to the others and asked for those who were done. Once she collected everything, she went to the kitchen and promptly washed the dishes.
This was her daily routine and though she had a hard time before, she was really thankful that she learned how to wash dishes better. Nowadays instead of breaking a lot more of plates than washing them, she had absolutely known more and would seldom break plates and glasses.
After finishing all of this, she arranged her clothing and her things, and gazed expectantly at Takuya from where she had found him last.
âLetâs go to school now?â She inquired, cutely tilting her head to the side. Femi lightly tugged his hands and half-dragged and half-pushed him towards the door. âLetâs go!â She continued, energetically tugging onto his hands.
