"By blade or by life I shall protect the people of Mercrundry, from threats afar and near." - Oath of Micheal H. Claremont
Quick to learn and quicker to take action, Micheal dislikes the role of leadership but often finds it thrust upon him. Preferring to take orders and ensuring they are carried out to the letter although in field action must be taken regardless of situation, due to his capability in this Micheal quickly climbed through the ranks of the guard. Micheal hates to see the downtrodden and unfortunate abused and will often react heatedly. Although skilled with martial weaponry he is averse to unneeded bloodshed and will not unless his orders tell him otherwise or he must.
-Micheal wears lighter armor on top of his casual wear to prevent restriction in combat.
-A leather jacket with studded iron ingots with shoulder pads and a exquisitely made chain shirt underneath.
-Supple worn leather gloves.
-Light steel shinguards.
-A battered bascinet with a missing visor, replaced with chain mouth and neck guard.
-Valued second only to his holy symbols his Micheal's bastard sword. Master craftsmanship was used during the smithing of this blade, ornate symbols lay embedded the blade with a long lost family crest in the center of the crosshilt. Cold stone makes up the grip with a fashioned leather binding, a pommel made from a brilliantly cut onyx, the edge of the blade is unnaturally sharp. Kept in a scabbard of hardened mahogany wood bound in runed steel along the chape and the locket. The scabbard is chained tightly to his belt with a steel chain.
-A medium kite shield is worn on Micheal's back out of combat furnished with a sheet of steel with a light wooden brace with a leather backing, the front is bare with no heraldry to display proudly his lack of noble birth.
Born into a poor farming family on lands that were arid and desolate. Even though Micheal was bullied by neighbor kids for being the runt of the village he took it with stride, always escaping into the rocky outcrops and playing knights. Pretending broom shafts are horses and sticks shiny swords. Helping his family scratch a living from the rock earth he witnessed the cruelties of the land first hand. Families were driven off their lands by marauding bandits only later to become thieves and bandits themselves. Young children sold into slavery or prostitution, the elderly slain for nothing more then bread. At the of 16 he decided to join the local city guard to escape this poverty ridden life, his father gave him a belt of a forgotten exotic creature and an exquisite bastard sword that he kept hidden below the floorboards of the house. The sword, unknown to Micheal, was worth much more than that of all of the families land and possessions. Shortly after, leaving the homestead to the local bustling city.
The guard was skeptical when Micheal offered himself for guard duty at such a young age, yet half as a joke and the other half in desperate need to find replacement for the short manned guard. Showing an innate aptitude at wielding a blade, marching, obeying orders, even reading. He climbed through the lower ranks and became an active member of the guard at the age of 18. Patrolling the outside of the city, even taking on assignments from high nobility or the captain of the guard he gained notice quickly. At the age of 21 was well read in strategy and tactics and was rewarded a handful of men to safeguard the locals as well as the ranking of lieutenant. His men looked up to him for his bravery and ability. A platoon as well as the ranking of brigadier was rewarded at 23.
With the rapid rising of ranks came jealousy and fear. The general of the city realized that as he aged it was more and more likely that the baron may see him replaced, and that it was entirely likely to be Micheal. Knowing of his virtue he demanded is presence. Warning that if he does not leave the city and lands the general would have Micheal dishonourably discharged. Not backing down the general realized that he would have to change his tactics, he tried to reason with him as well threaten those he loved. Micheal returned to his troops and asked them to come with him in the light of what happened, not afraid to tell them the truth. Declaring he would travel the lands to prevent the abused of the poor and downtrodden, all of the men decided to travel with Micheal
Travelling with 57 men, composed of infantry (20), archers (30), 2 Lieutenants, and 5 camp followers/hunters. The infantry wear a suit of scale mail and kettle helmets, wielding longs swords and kite shields (with no heraldry) or halberds. The archers wear chain mail suit with coifs and recurve bows, and equipped with short swords. His two lieutenants are similarily dressed as the infantry with long swords, William is a intelligent man who avoids a fight when possible and is gifted with strategy while Johnson is hotheaded and wears an eye patch. Neither will disobey orders given by Micheal.
