The Mansion on the Edge of the Abyss

The Mansion on the Edge of the Abyss

0 INK

You are trapped in a mansion floating in a seemingly endless black abyss, and you need to escape.

3,817 readers have visited The Mansion on the Edge of the Abyss since eljacko created it.

Introduction

You awaken in a dimly lit but spacious foyer. Around you are the comatose bodies of several others, and a quick check reveals that they are not dead, but rather unconscious. Everything seems brand new, although aside from the others in foyer, the house appears to be uninhabited. Through the heavy front doors is a well-groomed lawn that looks perfectly posh, except that at the very edge of the yard, past the wrought iron fence, the world ends and the ground drops off into an endless, yawning black abyss. Yes, the foundation of the mansion seems to rest upon a chunk of land floating in an endless abyss. You survey your surroundings. There is no water, and there is limited food (only the fruits and vegetables growing in the garden) and you cannot stay here and expect to live for long. Worse still, there is a presence in the air, something dark and sinister, and it scares you. You want to escape and return to the Multiverse. What will you do?

Toggle Rules

RULES

-The abyss exists in a separate universe, plane, and dimension than the Multiverse, and you cannot use a portal to travel between them. Nice try though.
-I'm imposing a limit of 10 character, all of which require approval, so that the roleplay doesn't get too crowded. This does not include my character, which is the primary antagonist.
-This is a dangerous roleplay, and you can die. Remember this when you want to port your Multiverse character, because you may not want to potentially lose them.
-Everyone starts the game in the foyer, awakening from a deep sleep. No exceptions. If you join the roleplay late it will be assumed that you have been unconscious in the foyer the entire time.
-Read the area descriptions before you roleplay in them. They're important.
-Write in the third-person. Complete sentences people. With subjects. And by subjects I don't just mean he/she/it. You need to give some indication as to who or what you're referring to!
-NO TWILIGHT STYLE-VAMPIRES. EVER. I hate them so much. If you submit one, I will reject them and drop them into the story at some random point later on to be killed. By auto-hit. No arguments. Seriously, don't submit one.

Otherwise, the primary source of tension is clear in the first few posts, but the sense of foreboding seems to dissipate quickly over the next few posts. Obviously, this is only the beginning of a story, and so the complete picture is not yet drawn, but these are the first impressions.

Rayo gave the small creature an odd look. Sighing tiredly and taking the necklace and putting it around her neck. Standing up and urging herself to move on as she stretched her muscles out. "I wan't out of here. Whats going on. How did we get here...And I demand to know why I was hanging from the ceiling."
Flinching at that last part as she tired to pat down her hair. All of the problems going in her head a a rate she couldn't keep up with.

A tall cloaked figure stumbles into the room, shrouded in a dark swirling mist and wearing a porcelain mask of some kind, frozen in a bizarre smile. The figure begins edging toward Tyro leaving a trail of blackish inky goop behind it.

"Kuso... my head." Kurushimi moaned as she woke from her unconscious state and sat up. Where's Alucard?! She panicked for a moment until she heard the soft scrape of scales on stone floor. "There you are," her relief evident, "I was afraid you had been taken away." She stood up and lovingly wrapped her beloved pet around her neck. "What say you, good sir, that we should explore this cold place, hn?" She mumbled to herself and her snake as she leisurely sauntered out of the room and into the abyss.
