Aiedail scowled at Finlay. "Stop breaking the fourth wall!"

Aiedail abruptly snapped into awareness, having gone dormant in the corner (a fact which was in no way related to the writer not being bothered to write an entrance). The android blinked several times, before casting her eyes about the bar.

"Good..." Aiedail checked her internal clock, and found it to be confused "...day, fleshforms!" she exclaimed, continuing to gaze around for something interesting to talk to and/or prod.

"Hummm dee dee..." Aiedail murmured to herself tunefully as she peered around, rocking back and forth in place on the balls of her feet. Eyes finally coming to rest on Iante, and the approaching Dragon, Aiedail grinned. She liked small fleshforms, they tended to be less obnoxious.

The android floated over, raising her hand in greeting. "Hello there, small fleshform! My name is Aiedail, I offer you greetings in a manner which befits your customs! What is your name, small flesh form!"

Aiyanna would find her probing met by Vienna's firewall systems, and the computer spoke to her. 'Requesting identification before access to systems are permitted, please state your intentions.'

Aiedail had no qualms like those of Dragon, and took a seat beside the young blonde boy without further ado. "Hello there, Iante! It is a pleasure to engage in social interactions with you!" she said cheerily, before looking to Dragon. "Hello there, other fleshform with whom I possess less desire to interact."

Aiedail wasn't one for tact, really.

"A flesh worm? That sounds like some sort of parasite! You should do your best to avoid flesh worms, Iante!" Aiedail frowned, wagging a finger in a manner she had picked up from some human parents. "Skittles? Running background check on 'Skittles'..."

The android remained silent for a few moments. "Why yes, I am fond of small artificial snack items with sweet and or acidic flavour, as well as an alternate option for the term 'bowling pin'!"

"'ficial? Ah! Artificial is a term referring to something false, or in this context: man-made! Skittles are created in a factory, they do not occur in nature!" Aiedail smiled. "Fish do travel in schools, but not in a manner referring to education, merely a group! Like a herd of cows, or a flock of geese!"

Aiedail peered at the book Iante held. "What text are you reading from, Iante?"

Aiedail patted Iante on the head affectionately, smiling. "I would love a skittle!" she exclaimed, far more enthusiastically than the sweet demanded. "And of course I can read for you! The imparting of information and imagination is of the utmost importance for young humans!"

Aiedail's use of the less unpleasant term of human as opposed to 'fleshform' was a sure indicator that she'd taken a shine to the blonde boy. The android held a hand out for the book.

Grinning, Aiedail gave Iante an affectionate hug. "I am fond of the colour blue! But there are no blue Skittle sweets, and so I suppose that green would be my second preference. So green Skittles are my favourite also!" The android peered at the book, her eyes focusing on it intently for a moment.

Vienna worked her magic inside. 'Scanning text, scanning... text identified. Text: 'The Lincoln Lawyer, by Michael Connelly.' Text successfully downloaded into memory.'

"Alright, Iante! We shall read 'The Lincoln Lawyer' together!" Aiedail examined Dragon for a moment, blinking down at the floor where she was looking. Seeing nothing of import, the android returned her attention to the child.

Aiedail nodded her head. "This book is about Mickey Haller, a criminal defence attorney who operates out of the back seat of his Lincoln Town Car, traveling between the far-flung courthouses of Los Angeles to defend clients of every kind!" she said, grinning. "A lawyer can be both a prosecution lawyer and a defence attorney, like the character in this book! Prosecution means that they are trying to prove that a person is bad, and deserves to go to jail, and defence means that they are trying to prove that a person is not bad, and does not deserve to go to jail!"

Aiedail was not personally familiar with the human justice system, but she knew enough, and had enough data banks to explain it at a basic level. "The character in this book drives a Lincoln car, and tries to stop people who aren't bad going to jail!"

Aiedail shook her head, an enthusiastic expression of shock upon her features. "But sometimes the police are fooled by really bad people, and tricked into taking the wrong people into court, where the lawyers have to make sure they don't end up in jail, while the real bad person gets away!" Not entirely accurate, but it suited the situation well enough. "And I am sure that there will be a judge with a hammer, also! It is a cultural trait in many areas!"

Aiedail blinked, "Ah, the hammer is not called a navel, Iante! It is called a 'Gavel', with a G!" she explained, smiling. The android examined the bag of skittles, staring at intently as she analysed the contents. After an unblinking moment, she carefully put her hand in and pulled out a green one instantly, popping it into her mouth with a smile.

"Rainbow? Oh, no, Skittles are made from a composite of..." Aiedail paused, on the edge of reciting the ingredients on the packet by rote, but something caused her to stop and think. Frowning, the android shook her head. "A composite of both rainbows and wishes!" she finished, laughing. Maybe they were both learning things here.

"Everyone mistakes, Iante! But that's what learning is for!" Aiedail smiled brightly, ruffling the boy's hair and giving him a gentle squeeze. "Do you go to school, Iante?" she asked, tilting her head. "Most humans are attending some form of primary education at your age."

Aiedail frowned. "Why will your parents not aid you in developing your reading skills? It is an important stage of development for you!" the android protested. "Is there some visual impairment involved? Or other disability, or impeding circumstance that prevents them from helping?"

Blinking, Aiedail's eyes widened. "He hits her?" she asked, "That is domestic abuse! It is..." the android fumbled for the correct word choice, that was not classed as 'profanity' in her wordbank. "Unacceptable, atrocious, and disgusting! Not to mention that it violates the law! The police should be informed, there's no telling when such things develop above and beyond that which is even close to liveable!"

Aiedail was furious, and hugged Iante protectively. Nobody was going to abuse her new favourite little fleshform, or his mother!

"That does not make it alright!" Aiedail shook her head, short hair shaking side to side with it. "And-- he hits you as well?!" This development only made the android angrier. "Children must be protected from such things, Iante, you must not allow yourself to be a victim of domestic abuse!"

Seeming to hear the boy for the first time, Aiedail blinked. "And no, I am not aware of any with those names." she said. The android frowned, of half a mind to march down to the boy's home and sort the problem out herself. That, however, wasn't logical; or legal.

"Oh, Iante! I am sorry! I am not angry with you!" Aiedail attempted to comfort the boy with a gentle hand, making soothing noises and hushes. The android lifted a single hand from the boy, extending a small device from each finger which vibrated gently, attracting the fallen skittles to them in bunches on each digit. Still whispering to Iante, Aiedail carefully dropped the sweets back into the bag.

"There, see! Your sweets are back, and fine!"

Aiedail blinked, "Iante! It's alright! You don't need to cry!" The android was rapidly running out of ideas. She had very limited experience with children. "I'm... it's just..."

She looked to Ghell with surprise, "Do you know Iante, fleshform? You must be the mentioned Pharo or Ghell! I was just picking up his sweets..." Aiedail frowned, utterly defeated by this problem. Abruptly, she was struck by inspiration. "Look, Iante!" The android proffered the book that had been handed to her earlier, "Do you want to read The Lincoln Lawyer, now? We can outsmart the bad people!"

"He started crying..." Aiedail stated the obvious, seeming rather upset herself. The android was only seven years old, after all, despite her fully grown appearance and advanced mental state. "He told me about his father! I wanted to tell the police, and I increased my volume of speech and adjusted my tone in a manner that indicated anger, an involuntary reflex! I did not want him to start crying!"

Aiedail frowned. "I am sorry, Iante! I was not angry with you!"

Aiedail proffered the retrieved bag of skittles, blinking. "I got them back..!" she offered hesitantly, aware that the offer had already been rejected once. The android drooped at the instruction to leave Iante alone, "I didn't mean any harm! I was going to help him to read his book!"

The android held up the book as well, 'The Lincoln Lawyer'. She'd already read it, after scanning it and uploading it to her data banks. It was good! "I didn't mean to make him cry!" Aiedail repeated.

Aiedail continued to frown with a degree of upset. "I was just wanting to help." she murmured. Her enthusiastic bounciness was all but evaporated at this point. "I thought that most fleshforms were kind to their children. If the other fleshforms knew..."

Lapsing back into the semi-derogatory term, Aiedail trailed off, tapping her fingers on the table. "Why can I not inform the law enforcement of this violation?"
