The Alder Shaman hung his lantern down from the tree branch, and examined the plant life beneath. He normally stayed away from the paths, but Pilgrim's Smock tended to only grow along well traveled roads. He'd been needing more Pilgrim's Smock nectar, but his old helper seemed to have been killed while looking for more Dragon venom so he had to go out and do the dirty work.

The shaman dropped down from the branch, and began to pick the delicate white flowers. He made sure to keep the stem attached, and if he could, the roots. A dog barked in the distance, and the shaman paused to listen. Nothing. He looked back down, and continued harvesting from the small patch of flowers.

The Shaman whipped his machete out of it's holder, and quickly mounted a branch to run. He tossed it from one hand to another, and raised an eyebrow, "Yes, and what do you need me for?" He asked, lowering the machete a little. He looked precariously perched on a branch, when in fact, he was actually rather stable.

In actuality though, the shaman did know who he was speaking to.

The shaman narrowed his eyes, "Alright, where is the 'shell'?" He asked, sheathing the weapon. He knew darn well that the machete wouldn't do anything good at this point. The Shaman had a lot of experience with raising the dead, but they unless he already had the soul the bodies end up trying to run away or falling apart when they stand up.

"I trust, your master will provide the soul?" He asked, scraping some moss off of the branch.

The Shaman stopped scraping the moss, and looked at the specter for a moment. He wasn't entirely positive what form the being was in, but he assumed a specter-like state. "You want me to just put a soul in a body? That doesn't always work out." He said, assuming a sitting position on the branch.

He'd tried that with a little boy's soul, and the body exploded when the soul went in. It took a long time to clean up the cabin, and even longer for the bears and other beasts of prey to stop following the scent of exploded human.

The Shaman thought for a moment, "Alright then, do I need to show you where to bring the shell? Or do you already know?" He asked, standing again. He placed his hand on an overhanging branch, and stretched his legs. One wouldn't expect a shaman to speak so modern forms of English, but he'd encountered plenty of humans in the woods, and tried to be nothing but nice. For now.

The Shaman looked down at the shade, "Just go straight that way, and you'll come to river. Near there is my home." He said, pointing off into the woods. The shaman had taken great pains to make sure he wasn't near an abundant creek so that fisherman wouldn't wander into his land.

"Or, you could follow me." He said, swinging from a branch and into another one a little ways into the forest.

The shaman pushed open the door to his small home, and cleared a table. He dropped the backpack he carried on the floor, and scooted it under the hammock that hung from the ceiling. He turned towards The Lamp, "Alright, put the new form on the table, and give me the soul in whatever container you have it in." He said, holding his hand out.

The dirt on his hands was obvious, and his fingernails were outlined with the dark brown of the soil.

The shaman peered at the body. He didn't appear in the slightest disturbed by what had happened. He'd learned not to show emotions to the undead, and kept all of his fear hidden.

He held out his hand for the soul, and reached under the table to pull out a grimy book with several torn out pages. "Soul." He said, gesturing.

The shaman placed the book down on the table next to the shell, and then placed the jar down next to it. He hadn't expected the soul to be captured in a pickle jar. It must have been a very powerful jar.

He spoke several incantations, and then grabbed the jar and held it over the body. He spoke a few more, and wind picked up from seemingly nowhere. It swirled around the table until the shaman was shouting loudly. The yelling got louder and louder until finally, the jar exploded in his hand, and the soul within flew into the body.

The shaman blinked and spoke through his mask, "I believe so." He said, taking a few steps back and leaning on a long staff. The winds slowly died down as Endgame came to his senses.

"You've been away for some time, I believe. Welcome back." The shaman continued, closing the book. As Lamp left, the shaman moved to stop it, but wasn't quick enough. "Fatherhood? No, this will not do." He said under his breath.

The shaman slowly turned back to Endgame.

The shaman closed the door, and leaned the staff on the corner of the hut, "You were delivered to me by Death's servant. I don't understand why they would leave you in my care though. Why would they ask for you to be revived if they were just going to leave you?" He asked to himself, flipping through more pages in his books.

He didn't want to upset the.. boy? He would assume it was a boy for now. "Though, I will take care of you because you're not yet ready to return to the outside world." He said, turning towards him.

The shaman chuckled a little, "I don't know, boy, I assume you're in a metamorphic state. At the point when I can correctly decide if you'll eventually appear more human or if you'll stay like that I'll let you know." He said, flipping through the book some more.

"I don't know what they want with you, but I know they want something." he muttered, removing his mask. His face was covered in tattoos, and scars.

The Shaman shrugged, "I assume you are male." He said, raising an eyebrow at him. He couldn't see any obvious signs that he was male, but he sounded male. He shrugged, "It wasn't my choice." He commented, touching his face. His father, who had stolen him from the outside world marked him this way.

"You were dead, but the.. uh.. the storm cloud was all they gave me to work with. If I had another body I might be able to migrate you." He said, thinking a little.

The shaman raised an eyebrow, "It means I'll move your soul to another body." He said, showing him the book. He'd see the details on the procedure. That is, if he could remember how to read English.

He used to bite people? Had he been some sort of creature like a werewolf or vampire? Maybe as his body took form, it would meld with the soul and reveal his true self.

The shaman shrugged, "I might could. I suppose we'll find out when it comes down to it." He said, peering over at him. He looked over the cloudy person that was there. "What do you want to be called?" He asked, turning fully towards the being. If the being couldn't decide, The Shaman would just call him 'boy'.

The shaman quickly took the object from the shadow being's hands, "For now, I will just call you boy until I decide on a more suitable name." He said, placing the object down and placed it on some papers so they wouldn't fly away in the air.

"My father gave me these as a right of passage. You will sleep in the spare hammock over there." He said, pointing at the hammock hanging from the top of the hut. It had a bit of moss inside of it, but that was about it. The mass was just extra padding. He didn't describe the object.

The shaman thought for a moment, "You may call me Elder." He said, crawling into his hammock. The only source of light was a lamp that hung from the ceiling above his hammock. He blew it out, and curled up in his hammock. He was ready to go to sleep now.
