Alyss Castel She finished running her fingers along her scalp, and, head leaned against her knees, she was dozing off. She heard movement, but still didn't move, didn't feel the need to, until she felt the blanket being draped across her shoulders. The Vampiress sat up just a little bit, and rubbed her eyes. She ran her hand along her hairline again, blinking a few times, she brought her hands over her shoulders and stretched. When she glanced over at Lucian, her eyes went down, and then back up quickly over him. "Sorry," she said and averted her eyes. "Thank you for the blanket." she said. Her voice was no longer dull and neutral, but with a bit of cheer fringing the corners of her words.

After a few moments, she pulled the blanket around her, and made one sideways glance at Lucian. "Um, Lucian?" she asked, and bit her bottom lip. "Well, two things. First, I'm sorry for all the trouble I cause." she shrugged her shoulders, "And second, would you mind it terribly if I prayed, if I'm quiet?"

She did so every morning before going to bed, and she didn't know that she liked the idea of going to sleep, or settling down for their sleeping time without doing so.

Alyss Castel She leaned back in the chair, the blanket wrapped around her, and her knees drawn up. "I know it must have seemed silly," she said, waiting for him to come out, "But God's all I got left, so I'm holdin onto that for dear... life." Alyss flashed a smile, and responded to his jest with a little giggle.

She watched as he came out, dressed perfectly, as usual. She self consciously fixed her hair over one shoulder. "Do you even own a pair of jeans?" she asked curiously, leaning her head to the side.

Suddenly, Alyss's eyes widened, and she bounded to her feet. "Oh Hell..." she said, quietly, and brought one hand to her mouth, her eyes wide. Wasn't the sun up already? She heard a familiar mind on the floor below them, could hear his curiosity, hear his anger, his frustration that he could smell her everywhere, but had not found her yet. "Oh my God..."

Alyss Castel "They're more comfortable than suits all the time, I imagine," she said, joining in his laughter right before her surprised outburst. "Have you ever even tried a pair on? I bet you'd like them. Men find they can be worn very fashionably, y'know."

She didn't say a word after he rushed to her, only kept her hand over her mouth. Her maker was here. "Antoine..." she mumbled, and retreated back until she was against the wall, her eyes cast downward. "My maker's here," she said, a bit more calmly, as she looked at Lucian. Her eyes were full to the brim with absolute terror. "He followed me. He's coming up the steps to this room right now." Alyss's entire being ached for any means of hiding, running, anything. She would even hide in the closet if she had to, but she stayed put, partly because it was her maker's will, which was difficult for her to go against, but also partly because of her pride.

After a few moments, Alyss realized that she was gripping Lucian's arm rather hard. She flinched when there was a knock on the door, and she retreated her arm back. She did not dare utter a sound in apology, but only stared at the door, hand still over her mouth, as if that was going to do any good.

Alyss Castel "Please!" she said breathlessly, and reached out her hand to grab onto his arm again. But before Lucian could lock the door, it swung open. Alyss half expected light to come flooding through the door, forgetting where they were, and she shrieked quietly. But no light came in, and the man slammed the door behind him.

He was very tall, this Antoine. His hair was blonde, and slick back. Piercing dark eyes were cast around the room. He stood proud, and wore a suit similar to Lucian's, in a deep ebony black. His eyes swept around the room once, twice, until he saw Alyss standing behind Lucian. He did not say a word to the man, though a lingering glance was granted. He knew that face...

"Come!" he barked, and, although Alyss tried to resist, she had to walk out from behind Lucian and approach her Maker. That was just the way the Child's body worked. When she was within arm's reach, Antoine reached out and grabbed a handful of her long black hair, and threw her into the chair beside him. "Sit down, little rat." he snarled, and turned his eyes up to Lucian. "And put on your shoes. I hate barefoot." He shook his hand, a few of the Vampiress's long black locks falling to the ground, and he continued to stare at Lucian.

"Who are you then hmm?" he asked, raising an eyebrow, "Who are you to keep my Child from me?" From the chair, Alyss had slowly reached out and grabbed her heels, and was slipping them on and doing the buckles. She did not meet Lucian's eyes, and if she could blush, her cheeks would have been cherry red.

Alyss Castel "I remember you now! Lucian. Yes. It has been a long time, has it not?" he asked, and gave a tiny bow to the Vampire who was a few years older. "And do not insult me as such!" he said, glowering, "I see you have not changed. It seems the years have taken off without you!"

Alyss felt a bit better, when she kept seeing the belts unbuckle. She knew he had a lot of power, but she was worried. Worried at why her Maker was here. Worried about what was going to happen to Lucian if Antoine decided that he was going to take her no matter what.

Antoine's eyes flickered down to Alyss, who was still trying to buckle her shoes. "Hurry up, stupid girl!" he demanded and aimed a kick, which hit home square in her hip, before turning his eyes back to Lucian. "Her virtue?" he asked and exclaimed with a bark-like laugh, "This little whore has no virtue left to speak of. I'm taking her with me as soon as the sun disappears. I have some debts to settle, and she will make lovely payment. And you love it, no, Alyss?" At the sound of his words, a small sound escaped from Alyss's lips. She covered her mouth with her hand and hunched over a bit more, hair falling around her. "No?!" he demanded and pulled her head back so that they could see her face. She nodded. "Yes," she whispered under her breath.

That was her job, as his Child. That's why he had brought her over. He had been whoring her off to all the people to whom he owed money since he brought her over. Alyss could feel the tears on the edges of her eyes, and she hurriedly wiped them away. She was absolutely mortified that Lucian was hearing any of this. That now he knew.

"Oh," the Vampire continued, "And I suppose I owe you for that steward, yes?" he pointed his thumb over at Alyss, "You may have her for a time, if that would pay for it in full." Alyss's shoulders shook once, but she said nothing.

Alyss Castel Alyss's eyes widened when she saw Lucian fly across the room. She, although upset, with grace stood up, and backed a couple steps toward the desk away from the two.

"You know as well as I. I am not a man!" Antoine exclaimed with a flourish. "We are far better than men, and us, the two of us, and the others, we are far better than any Vampire after us! Why should we leave them to walk on us and be of no use to us, hmm?" Antoine's eyes, however, widened as he was staring at Lucian after he was ordered out of the house. "But the sun..." he said, referring to that the sun was still out outside, and his hands fell to his sides, as if defeated. Alyss knew better though, from peeking into her Maker's mind. She knew he was reaching for the stake in a holder on his side. She rushed forward, without really thinking, and pulled Lucian back, as hard as she could, until he should have eventually released Antoine. She watched as the stake came out of the side pocket, but still hidden, and his hand came and slapped her across the face, sending her flying onto the ground. She tasted thick blood in her mouth, and coughed a few times from lungs that no longer breathed.

After Alyss had been taken care of, it would seem, the Vampire went after Lucian, stake still hidden by his side. Alyss shut her eyes, and concentrated, before sending a clear STAKE signal out to Lucian's mind. She had never really transferred thoughts before to another vampire, but hopefully it worked and he would be warned.

Alyss Castel She closed her eyes when he stroked her hair, and, on an impulse, though she was extremely hesitant in doing so, she rested her forehead gently on his shoulder. She took a deep, unnecessary breath, which was shaky, and pained her cheek, but she needed it.

"I never wanted to, I swear." she said, and repeated it, "I swear. I fought real hard. For a long time." She pulled her knees to her chest, like she seemed to do so often, and leaned her back on the wall behind her. When she heard the door click, she started a little bit, and sat up a bit straighter in alarm.

Like a bunnyrabbit, she thought, and scoffed at herself before settling back against the wall. When she pulled her hand away from her cheek, thin layers of skin were healing over where her cheek had been split in two. She quickly used her sleeve to blog away most of the red that was streaming down her cheeks.

After a long pause, she sighed, "That's why I get so defensive when people talk about the way I talk," she confided quietly, "I never got taken seriously when I protested, because they all just thought I was a dumb little pretty thing." Alyss shuddered from head to toe.

Alyss Castel "I'm sorry," she finally said. Her eyes were closed. "You didn't invite me here to listen to my temper tantrums, and then get attacked, and now get to listen to me cry." she was almost laughing, as she evaluated what a sight she must be. She tucked her arms between her knees. As she sat there on the floor with him, Alyss did not begin to doze off, but rather relax a little bit.

Without really thinking about it, she positioned herself so she had less of her weight on the hip that she thought he cracked, which ended up in her sitting a bit closer to Lucian.

In her sense of relaxed state, a couple of his questions made their way into her mind, as if they were finding their way there themselves. She had been expecting them. She abruptly (well not so abruptly to her) brought up another subject, "I have to put up a shield around my head to keep from hearing everyone's thoughts constantly. Sometimes it falls for a minute, like just now." she paused for a few moments before frowning, "I was dying and he saved my life." she said, and looked down. "I had been runnin' away from home, to be honest." Alyss flushed, "And the horse I was on got spooked, and I fell. I broke my neck on a cobblestone street, or so he told me. And he saved my life." It was a lame story. No twists of love, no magic spells. Just a clumsy horse and an unprepared girl who would have died.

Alyss Castel Alyss tucked her arms in close to her, and leaned on him. Her eyes were closed, and her hip throbbed, though she suspected that would go away soon.

"He always said I was too pretty of a thing to go to waist. Probably ain't what the truth was, but that's what he told me." Alyss shrugged her shoulders, and sighed, "But I never really grilled him about it. Maybe I'd met him before and didn't remember. Maybe I'd shown him a kindness. Or maybe he'd just been watching me."

The Vampiress just didn't know. "Is that really why you shut yourself off?" she asked, finally. "Because of the way the Vampires were acting? Are we all going to end up like that?" she surely hoped not.

Alyss Castel The vampire walked into the bar with the grace of four centuries. Her long dress swished along the floor, and her heels clicked on the wooden ground. Her hair was long, and curled down her back. Her huge blue eyes were framed by long, thick black eyelashes, and her red lips covered her fangs nicely.

Pale skinned hand brushing along the bar as she walked by, each curve swinging to and fro, and she sat down at the bar, and typed into the floating keypad on the hologram until she found what she wanted.

The blood came to her in a wineglass.

Alyss Castel The vampiress looked up with her wide blue eyes as she heard the voice of Iason. She wondered for a moment if he was speaking to her, before lifting her wine glass of blood, figuring she'd answer him anyways.

"I'm fine with this," she said as she nodded toward it. "Unless you'd like to offer me something a little more... fresh." Her smile was teasing, and she lifted one thin eyebrow as her eyes went to his throat.

Alyss Castel "No thanks, sugar." the vampire's voice had a tinge of a Texan accent and she leaned across the bar to Iason. "He ain't my type."

She brushed one strand of raven black hair over her shoulder, before leaning on her elbow. "You new here? I never seen you before."

With wide blue eyes she looked over at the snowman next to her, flashing her fangs in a bit of a hiss. She hated troublemakers.

The vampire pushed open the door to the bar, with one eyebrow raised. She glided across the floor, heels clicking quietly as her bright, lightning blue eyes scanned the establishment. Her long, black dress swished across the floor, and her black hair was piled high on her head, held back by a blue ribbon. Her face was like porcelain, the only flaw a smear of dirt and a portion of her skin seemed to be missing from her jawbone. The skin was quickly healing, though, leaving only a smear of dirt and blood across her perfect skin.

Her dress was torn in a couple places, as if she had been running fast for quite some time. She needed nourishment. Something to help her get her strength back. She sighed and, from behind thick eyelashes, ordered a glass of warm blood in a wine glass. It wasn't straight from the source, which is what she needed, but it would have to do.
