Amelia Sharnock

An Irish girl running from law and crime.

0 · 767 views · located in Wing City Main Entrance

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Alasund

Description

Ragged, hunted looking. Her clothes are hand-me-downs and her other equipment old, her hair hasn't been washed for several days now and her eyes flicker uncertainly.

Personality

Formerly somewhat sombre and polite, now she has a ragged edge about her, she no longer seems able to trust, and receiving something for free is considered almost a trap. Her happiness of the former life has fled, and now she is an outcast and on the run, unable to fully escape.

Equipment

One pistol, almost out of ammo. A couple of empty ammo clips and a knife. A few portions of random food she's saving up and a diary filled with her good memories, permenantly locked.

History

Amelia, born on the streets and taken into an orphanage at a young age. She grew up to the strictures of the nuns there, eventually being adopted into a kindly family of the upper middle class. Things went from good to better, even when she became a part of the local 'enforcers'. A mafia like group in which her adopted father was a very influential member. To put it simply, she was happy with her lot, and satisfied that she was living up to her father's expectations, she even made a best friend in her 'group'. A ragged young boy who was rather happy go lucky.

This was good for her, and she seemed full of life. The bright groomed to be ambassador of the group due to her almost charismatic magnetism. But then her father was killed by a rival group, and war in the streets broke out, over 18 now she joined the front line, killing and destroying the homes of those involved in the death of her beloved father. Until, that is, one of the last remaining of the enemy hid themselves as a staff of the orphanage. Conflicted, Amelia could not decide, until she decided to let that one man go to save the orphanage from destruction. The only person she told was the ragged boy who was her friend, not romantically, but platonically.

He told the superiors, and they, angered that a daughter of their esteemed associate would try to stop their will, went ahead and did it. She arrived on the scene just in time to witness the last nun being knifed to death by the hitmen of the group. She shot two of them before they escaped, but the police found her on the scene and blamed her for the murders that happened. She was on the run from the law. The groups contacts in the police egged the chase onwards, and let the other underground groups know that a traitor was headed their way. She is now trapped between the law and crime, and she cannot escape.

So begins...

She nods, then pauses. "What's al dente mean?" She asks as she follows Natalie and the hostess to their table. Her lack of knowledge shown once again. Amelia continued to look around cautiously, even without her gun or any other protective item, she continued to watch everywhere for possible danger.

She nodded at the meaning, having expected such an explanation. The churning of facts was still surprising, but a lot less so than it had been the first hour or so. The corner table in the back also made Amelia relax, a lot harder to be snuck up on when your back was virtually to the wall.

She looked down the list, totally unsure of any of the dishes. She'd never had much knowledge in the regard of Italian food, so when she saw something she recognized the name of, she decided to chose it. Spaghetti Bolagnase, something she'd had variations on at home and something she'd heard mentioned by her adopted father. "I'll have Spaghetti Bolagnase." She replies after a short break of silence.

Amelia shrugged somewhat embarressedly. "I don't know any of the appetizers, soups, or salads." She replies, her own eyes following Natalies as she two catches the word. He sharp ears can't seem to work out whether the conversation is dangerous, so she just makes a mental note to keep an eye on the table, then goes back to her menu. "What do you suggest?" She asks her.

She nods, "I'll have that then." She replies, ignoring the conversation she couldn't understand. She was hungry, and food seemed more important right now. And besides that, as long as they insisted on speaking in French, she couldn't understand them. So she would concentrate on things she could understand.

She noted the glance swiftly, but did not make the mistake of looking back in that direction. Rather, she appeared to take notice of Natalie actually using the pen she carried everywhere while keeping an eye on the next table. She itched for the gun that Natalie had told her to leave back at the apartment...

Amelia shakes her head at the question, thinking up one of her own as she kept a watch on the other table. "Why is it that you carry that pen around everywhere?" She asks, wondering if it was some sort of memento or heirloom.

She basically understood the gist of such a thing, and decided to leave the subject, instead picking up the first Bruschetta to study. She looked it over for a few seconds before deciding it looked appetizing enough and began to eat it. She didn't pick the word up from the next table, mainly because she was geared to hear her own name, and not Natalie's. Especially as she didn't really know the FBI agent's surname, even though it had been clipped to her collar for half the time they'd been talking in the forest.

Amelia had found the Bruschetta's to be quite to her tastes, and was savouring another bite as she listened to Natalie mentioning yet another fact. The entree tasted better than it probably normally would, as having little food of low quality for a while made her appreciate the good food she'd received. "That must have allowed him to get quite a large sum of money from an exclusive market."

"Naturally." She replied, listening to light bulb preferences. She'd really had little chance to decide on light-bulbs, as the traditional ones were always used in Amelia's home. Sometimes candles instead. She did notice the men looking at Natalie, and her warning bells went off. For once, whoever they were wasn't after Amelia, but this was, she thought, just as bad at the moment. She said nothing, but strained to hear the words of the conversation. The biggest thing was not to lean or move in any way that would alert them to the fact that she was trying to listen...

She had just finished her own entree as Natalie finished hers, Amelia taking the second part of the meal a lost slower than Natalie. Her pace was almost belated compared to Natalie's aggresive approach. She didn't stop eating when she heard 'Natalie'. Though she did mentally tag 'Schultz' onto the end. She'd already been covertly listening, and she glanced at the FBI agent as it was said. She itched to have her gun, just to be sure....

Amelia tensed once more. She fought best with a gun, but she wasn't harmless with her hands and feet. She casually continued eating, trying to seem as relaxed as possible as she looked at the new arrivals. Her leg, hidden by the table cloth, was tensed. She could in all reality spring up and start fighting, despite the casual, relaxed, reaction.

Amelia sat to the side, continuing to eat. She would not move yet. The reply from Natalie was brilliant, and if it weren't for how tense she was, Amelia probably would've laughed.

Amelia stopped eating, the knife, despite not being sharp, being singled out as the most dangerous possible weapon at hand, and now twirls around in her fingers much like the pen in Natalie's. She did not interrupt yet, but this man reminded her of some of the worse members of her original group.

Amelia turned her head slightly, swallowing the mouthful she was just chewing. She stared at the man for a second before beginning to speak. "Are you with a Travel Agency, Monsieur?" She asks, sounding as innocent as you like. Only Natalie could see the small smile upturning the corner of her mouth away from the man's view. She disliked all this pressure and threats of the person that had saved her, even after Amelia had shot her.

"A gang of some kind, I suppose? Like the Mafia." She comments softly to Natalie, dropping the innocent approach she'd taken with the man. It'd thrown him off enough to make him throw one last threat out and leave. But the way he'd done it reminded her of her own gang. Gerogin's group. The threatening and danger......

"Did you ever do something that might interfere with them?" Amelia asks, having already finished her salad and soup. "That's the only other reason I could think of..." She shakes her head slightly. Maybe Natalie's pressance was threatening in the Mailoc's minds?

Amelia shrugged, having put the knife down as soon as the Mailoc's left. "Then they didn't have a reason to threaten you as far as I can tell." She replies. That was indeed the oddest experience ever. As soon as the Spaghetti Bolognese appears, Amelia dives into it. Eating at a rapid rate herself. For the first time tonight, the food was something she recognized immediately.

Didn't sound like too much of a connection. But then, such groups didn't need much of a connection to go after you. "Possibly the reason, then." She replied to Natalie, before putting yet another forkful of pasta in her own mouth and chewing.

"That's a fair while to hold any sort of grudge." Amelia replies, once again wondering why. She did wonder a lot. Her right hand absently wound another string of spaghetti onto her fork. After how much effort Gerogin had put into chasing her, she wouldn't be surprised at the extents such groups would go to, but patience was not something she would've expected.
