Seemed like the bar was a ghost town right now. That was no fun. As the door swung closed behind him, Arien wrinkled his nose. He considered just turning around and leaving, but the opportunist in him won out. With a grin, he sauntered up to the bar counter, vaulting over and starting to rummage around in the cupboards behind it.

If only Torrential wasn't the one who the snowman had given the key. He could get up to all sorts of trouble in the manager's office... He'd have to make do, though.

Arien straightened as he heard the door open again, raising an eyebrow as two people entered one after the other. He smiled broadly as he recognised Alan, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Trouble?" he posed, leaning forwards onto the counter, resting his chin on his hands, "Me? You must be thinking of someone else..."

The vampire smirked, reaching down to pull up a bottle, flicking the cap off with his thumb (because who needed bottle openers?) and sliding it over to Alan.

He then raised an eyebrow at Darren, straightening once more in order to better address the both of them. "For now, at least," he replied with a knowing grin, "Can I get you anything, stranger? On the house, of course..."

Flicking his attention back to Alan like the multitasking social butterfly that he was, Arien tilted his head. "How have you been, Alan? Not working too hard, I hope..."

"The best kind of work, in my view," Arien said as he trailed a finger in an idle pattern on the bartop, "And me?" The vampire raised an eyebrow, before chuckling to himself about something. "Things have been interesting. A fun kind of interesting, so yes, yes I am."

Arien drifted away a few steps to flick through a drawer, though his attention remained with Alan. "What's the job?" he queried, pulling out a large kitchen-knife from the drawer and twiddling with it idly.

"Things are always fun when I'm around," Arien said, glancing back at Alan with a devilish grin, "I make my own fun..."

Arien didn't mention just how he got his kicks. Probably for the best. He discarded the knife carelessly, dropping it back into the drawer. "Cooking isn't any more lame than anything else people do these days..." he mused, drifting back over to swing himself over to perch on the counter adjacent to where Alan was sitting. "Cooing, pencil-pushing, strip-dancing... it's all part of the same rat race, no?" The vampire flashed a fanged grin, "Working for a living looks monotonous on all counts from where I'm sitting..."

Arien frowned, "Tsk, we can't be having that," he murmured, hopping down from the bar to glide smoothly around behind Alan, trailing a hand across his shoulders as he did, "I won't be having anyone treating you so poorly..." he purred.

As predatory as he was, Arien was possessive of his 'prey'. In his pursuit of the games he liked to play, those on the receiving end at least had themselves the benefit of that protectiveness... until he got bored. After that? The outcome varied...

Completing his circuit of the boy, Arien leaned up against the counter, eyes flicking to register Rick's presence. "Getting away from the establishment is easy, you know," he remarked, "You just have to flip it the bird and make your own rules." The vampire grinned, "I'll admit, not everyone can pull it off as smoothly as others... But it's a wild ride."

"Just give me a shout if you need a hand," Arien said, grinning, "I've got experience dealing with bullies..." And that was true. Those that had made Arien's life difficult for him before he became what he now was had paid for it in blood. Proportionate? No. Satisfying? Very.

"That's the spirit. Fuck the police, and that business," he said, laughing. Moving once again - seemingly incapable of standing still in one spot - Arien leaned himself on the back of Alan's chair. "Where is it you work? Maybe I'll drop by some time..."

"Psh," Arien grinned, "Jobs are for squares. So's standing still. No, I don't have a job." The vampire shrugged, flicking a finger to twirl the back of Alan's hair, "I don't need the money." Arien took what he needed, which wasn't that much. He didn't need food or drink, and he had shelter. And as he'd said - he made his own fun.

"My family keeps me afloat..." And that was the truth, albeit a half-truth. The Lessards were no mere rich city-family.

"Like no other," Arien replied with a knowing chuckle. The vampire sauntered back to the bar counter himself, pausing at Alan's side - perhaps uncomfortably close for only a second encounter - and glancing at his empty bottle. "Need another drink?" he queried, eyes flicking to the bartender who had now arrived, "On me, of course."

In the meantime, he leaned back to meet Alan's eyes, "Tell me about your new family," he said, "How did you end up with them?"

"Ah, the puppy," Arien recalled with a grin. The vampire's eyes drifted back to the bartender again, "Just a moment..."

Sliding down the bar to where the man stood, Arien got his attention with a cough. "Another drink for my friend here," he said, meeting the man's eyes. Before the tender had a chance to ask for money, the swirling crimson of Arien's magic was spilling out into his irises. Nodding dumbly, the man retrieved another bottle of what Alan had been drinking. Arien took it with a grin, releasing the tender as he walked aback away, his eyes already back to normal.

Resuming his position beside Alan, Arien snapped the cap off again, passing him the drink. "On my tab, obviously," he explained - or rather, lied. It was a reasonable enough explanation for an unusual event, though, and Arien found that most people preferred the mundane explanation to thinking too hard about the unexpected.

"I'm glad you have people to rely on," he murmured, hand resting on the bar counter and tracing a pattern beside where Alan was leaning his arm (though in truth, in most cases friends were nothing but a hindrance to his playing), "This is a hell of a place for a regular guy like you."

Arien nodded in understanding, "You gotta admit, that there's some truth to it. You're vulnerable compared to him, or compared to me," he said, hand absent-mindedly tracing its way up Alan's arm, "I used to be... well," Arien smirked, "I was never exactly normal. But I used to be a small fish in a big pond."

He tilted his head in recollection, "It's about finding a way to beat the game," he mused, "To evolve, grow legs and step out of the pond altogether. Then maybe go fishing once in a while." The vampire's eyes flashed mischievously.

"So long as you have people like me and the puppy to watch your back, you're safe enough," he murmured, "But there are things you can do yourself to give you ways to become your own protector. Just gotta find them."

"A good first step is owning a weapon," Arien suggested, pondering for a few moments, "Just a gun is sometimes enough. If not, there are ... more potent weapons out there. I'm no specialist, but I've had them used on me before..."

He grinned, "Not always reliable, as you might guess by my still being here, but you know. It's a start. A gun, a magic sword, a magic gun... a magic sword gun? Whatever floats your boat."

The vampire shrugged, his hand continuing to draw patterns on the side of Alan's arm. "And of course I'll watch your back. I've taken a shine to you." he purred, meeting the other's eyes with a sultry smile.

Arien smiled, lifting his hand to brush against the side of Alan's face, "That's what I said, isn't it?" he murmured with a light laugh. His eyes were alluringly deep even without his magic actively working, a passive trait of his vampirism.

"Ordinary is more unique than you'd think around here..." the vampire said, "And you seem like a guy who's open to new things." That addition could be taken as slightly ominous, or merely mysterious and exciting. After all, the exotic allure of the unknown was something that a lot of people fell for at least once in their life.

"There's a whole world beyond your field of view that I could show you, you know," Arien purred, "The things that people always say are just a myth, the things they say are children's tales... Or maybe your family were better educated than that?"

Arien grinned once again, "I promise you, you've only scratched the surface," he said.

Arien blinked, breaking eye contact and somewhat diluting the intensity of the moment. He smirked, "Starting to sound like a scene from Twilight, this is," he joked, "But I digress..."

He winked at Alan, the transition from alluringly seductive vampire to punk kid seemingly as smooth as ever, "Fancy words aside, I know the ins and outs of this city pretty well, I like to think." he said, "I'll show you a few hangouts sometime."

Glancing upwards thoughtfully, Arien shrugged, "Much as I'd love to stay here and chat all day, I've someone to meet not long from now."

The vampire leaned in to Alan, holding his face teasingly close, "I'll pick you up from work sometime, hm?" he murmured, blowing an air-kiss before swirling around and making as though to leave. He paused at the rumbling, though, turning to linger for a few more words, "Be careful, mind you. Sounds like trouble's on its way."

"Catch you later," Arien said with another wink, before turning and slipping out of the bar.

Early and slow it might have been, but that was no deterrent to the youth that sauntered his way into the bar as Darren was speaking with the manager. Arien cast his green eyes around the room from behind his long fringe, seemingly pondering something. He drifted silently inwards, weaving past tables with his hands in his pockets. The vampire was investigating - finding new haunts.

After all, the more bars he hung out in, the less likely it was that the people he was tangling in his webs would run into one another. That was always awkward.

The teenager's eyes settled on Darren and the manager, examining them. He blew a thoughtful bubble of bubblegum from his mouth, leaning casually against the bar counter. The bubble popped, and he flashed the former an inviting grin as their eyes met.

Arien shrugged his shoulders, "Surprise me," he said, casting the girl a toothy smile - a fanged one, to be precise. "I'm always open to trying something new."

The youth returned his attention to Darren, tilting his head slightly, "You're a performer, then, hm? You have that album cover smile, certainly." Arien chuckled, eyes flashing mischievously, "I'm Arien."

Arien took the drink with an appreciative smile, "Sounds delicious," he said. Inwardly he was amused at the choice of colour. "It's my first time here," he replied to Darren, taking a sip of the drink - his gum had apparently disappeared at some point since he'd blown the bubble.

"Does it generally get busy, later?" he queried, "How much of a crowd do you normally get?"

"Sounds perfect," Arien replied, perfectly honestly. Crowded enough for there to be plenty of pickings, but not so crowded it would be hard to get someone alone. The thought process of a rapist, if there ever was one. But Arien wasn't quite that bad. Probably. Depending on how you thought about it.

"So, Darren..." Arien purred - an odd word to describe a human voice, but the sultry hint to the youth's voice was difficult to describe any other way, "Tell me about you. A guitarist, a singer... what else? Everyone's got a day job, or, well..." the vampire smirked, "Most people, anyway. But what you do in the rat race of makin' money isn't what's interesting, most of the time."

Arien laughed, "I don't have a job," he said, shrugging, "I couldn't handle the monotony. Doing the same thing every day... I don't know how anyone does it." The vampire grinned, "I get by. I have a generous family, and I don't need much."

Food, drink - both were optional, or at least, the kind you bought was. "I have only very vague memories of the films," he said, "I wasn't much of a TV oriented child." No, Arien had been far more into variously tormenting bugs and performing unholy rituals in his closet. A healthy childhood hobby for anyone.

"I spend most of my time finding... fun," Arien grinned as he said that, "Of all sorts. This city's just a big playground."

Arien chuckled, "Maybe," he said, "And maybe you just need to take a break from schedules. Wake up, pick a direction, walk until you find something... interesting. Make your own fun, or your own trouble."

The vampire grinned, "There's all kinds of things to get into around here," he murmured, meeting Darren's eyes with his own. He lingered there, for just a few moments, but it seemed like a lifetime. The vampire's eyes seemed like deep chasms, vortexes of green that pulled the onlooker inwards, as though looking away was impossible.

When he broke the stare, Arien carried on as though nothing had happened, "Break out of your shell a bit, let loose."
