Personality

Azil is usually quiet the peaceful soul. He is easily described as naïve, due to the fact he grew up in such a large bubble. The smallest things, such as animals or plants, can easily distract him. His favor can be won over by tiny things and his trust is not easily broken. Most of the time he has no idea what is going on, but that does not mean he is not quick to learn. He is a deep thinker who uses his ability to help out his kingdom.

When he was very young he was taught to put his full trust in the government and to avoid commoners. Due to the lack of interaction with others he is somewhat socially awkward. He has a strong phobia of being around too many people. He is used to being alone, but likes to interact with a few others. While he was kept away he was taught in the ways of the temple. He has been somewhat brainwashed into believing in the ‘greater good’. As an Oracle he believes it is his duty to purge the world of sins. He does not like violence, but understands that it is necessary to achieve his goals.

History

Azil hales from a small land. Azil is the son of an Oracle and an unknown man. His birth was quiet the controversy inside the church since he was a male. Records show that he was the first male Oracle born in centuries. His birth was seen as a sign of good luck and prosperity. He was born and raised inside an Inner Sanctum. Like all of the Oracles that preceded him, he has locked up inside the temple walls for all of his life.

For a few years he was raised by his mother. He never knew his father, but he assumes he must have been one of the priests nearest to his mother. His mother was always kind to him. She even taught how to interpret the strange dreams he had. He quickly became quiet good at Seeing. In fact many believe that his gift might even be greater than his mother. When he was seven his mother past away. After her death the King-Priest appointed him to be the next Oracle, and has been serving as such ever since then.

Once his mother had died the priests began to watch over him. They made sure that he was healthy and raised ‘properly’. He was taught by them to see people as dirty and sinful beings. He was kept away from the ‘impure’. He is not even allowed to eat meat. Those who watch over him say that his seclusion is for his own good, but that does not keep him from sneaking off every now and then anyway. He has never actually made it out of the city limits, but he dreams about traveling around world. Having spent his entire life sheltered by the sanctuary he knows that he will probably never get to leave.

One of the main reasons the priests keep an eye on him is because of his weak health. His gift of foresight is also a bit of a curse. He, along with every other member of his line, has an unnatural tendency to get sick. Most do not make it to see thirty. His mother was only twenty five when she died. Azil suspects that there was more to her death then just her weak body. His suspicions are mainly directed at the priests and the heretics. He knows that she was a mysterious woman who held many secrets. Those secrets followed her to her grave, but he always hopes to learn more about her.

It was said that his mother might have been tampering with dark matters. A few people have actually dared to comment that she was a witch; he quickly punished those gossipers. He does know that she was gathering information against the King-Priest and heretics. Azil has tried to continue where his mother left off, but since the priests constantly watch over him, research has been a bit hard.

For several months now Azil had been keeping an eye on the heretics. He feels that if he can purge the world of their evil he might be able to overcome the shackles that force him to stay in the inner sanctum. He also had been keeping a close watch over the King-Priest. After observing the man for quiet some time, Azil is starting to believe that the man might not be as pure as others make him out to be.

Most of the time he is kept away in his chambers left to do reading after spiritual reading for the priests. He uses his gifts to pick out people that, he thinks, will better the world. Most are recruited into priesthood or the army.

Behind the priest's backs he has been secretly recruiting a small band of faithful followers. They do not know yet, but he plans to use these people to take out all the sinners in this world in one quick sweep. He has already started to develop a plan to take out the leader of the heretics. Unfortunately, his sickness has been getting in the way of his planning.

As of late his sickness seems to have taken an unnatural turn for the worst. He has been spontaneously passing out and breaking into dangerously high fevers. The priests believe that he might be dying, so security over him has nearly tripled in the last few months. Several of the priests have even tried to match him up with one of the priestess in an attempt to insure an heir to his bloodline. He has turned up all of the matches.

Azil, on the other hand, believes that his sickness is a sign of something. He thinks that his powers are trying to tell him something, but he does not know what. Sometimes he simply passes out at random then he will wake up next to horribly realistic drawings drawn by none other than himself. Other times he will suddenly blank out and wake up somewhere completely new. Whatever is causing this problem, chances are that it is not good.


Recently, Azil has started taking measures against the evils of heretics. It is unfortunate that most of his plans have ended up going horribly wrong. His last plan led to him being discovered by the leader of the heathens. As a punishment he was scarred with the symbol of sin, a flame. Left alone to tend to his wound, Azil became justifiably enraged. In his want for revenge he has summoned his hidden ace. Hopefully, this new player has what it takes to come up with the perfect plan. For now all Azil can do is wait..
