So begins...
Cu Mara's Story
Zee's feet lightly touched down on the ground as he descended, eyes glowing blue beneath the visor that covered his face. He looked to be like any other strange visitor to Wing City, his skin a pale purple, body bottom heavy judging by the shape of his legs, armoured around the chest, head and arms with wires connecting it all together. Arms were slim and hands ended in three knobbledy fingers. His head was angled and hairless. From his lower half billowed a tail which stretched almost up to his height again, twitching occasionally. And yet he wasn't physically all that tall, certainly shorter than six feet.
It was dark and the moon was out, stars reflecting on the water of the lake. Zee had taken this time for contemplation, seeking the peace of the water to clear his mind.

Cu reclined completely at ease. sitting placidly in a folding chair, his bare feet resting on a small wooden box, the hems of his black pants damps from the water and covered in sand. Out before him the water reflects the moon like a mirror, embracing her light like a lover returning home. He grins wryly at the thought, flicking his line out once in irritation. A beer can stuffed full of cigarette butts next to him receives another offering as he puts the butt aside for a fresh coffin nail that he takes from a pack in the breast pocket of his Hawaiian shirt.
"Slow night," He sighs, though not in a discontented way, more a sigh of reprieve, like someone ending a long day of hardship allowing theirself to unwind at last. Smoke drifts out of his lips with the sigh, and he glances at the new arrival without an ounce of apprehension or surprise, simply curious. "How goes it?"

Zee's head slowly turned to the side, and for a moment he stared, letting the question of whether or not he could even speak linger in the air. Then finally a voice came from his helmet, calm and masculine in nature, but definitely not originating from Zee himself. "It goes well enough." He turned his head back out to stare at the water for a moment, then looked back again at Cu. He tried not to judge or resent the man, but a small part of him did, prompting him to sit down cross-legged and begin to meditate. Well, at least a little.

Cu grins at the metal man, as the voice identifies him as. "Nah, not disturbed in the least. I never believed that garbage about scaring the fish by talking, I mean what's the point of fishing if you can't even speak?" He finishes his sentence with a jerky flick of his wrist, and a drag on his cigarette. Whipping his line out again, if one were to watch closely though it would look almost like he was whipping the pole right before a fish can bite. Simply fishing to relax, not to catch.
Zee didn't know what the man meant. Why fish if you can't speak? That was a damn good question. But in an effort to make conversation he said, "I can't speak, not your language at least. I have to use this helmet. But it has been cutting out lately, so I'm worried that some day it will fail entirely and I don't know how to fix it." The voice from the helmet didn't seem concerned, and with the visor covering his face it was difficult to tell if Zee was either. But keeping his manners, he offered out a three-fingered hand.
"I am Zee," he said calmly.

"That is a problem," Cu says conversationally. Though he wonders about the veracity of the problem, seeing as to how they made just about every kind of translator imaginable these days. Maybe he just didn't want to pick up a new one? When the tin man extended a hand, identifying himself as Zee, Cu grins. Reaching out with his free hand and clasping it tightly. "I'm Cu, let's be friends!" He finishes the boisterous declaration with a flick of his line, a fish actually coming out of the water in pursuit of the bait, but it misses splashing down into the liquid moonlight.
It made Zee's mouth quirk slightly upwards in the corner, which gave away that his mouth was actually at the very edge of his face and almost hidden. "Let's be friends," he agreed, then turned his head around to stare at the water where the fish splashed. "Any luck with the fish? I am also after two fish, but metaphorical ones as they aren't really fish," he explained unhelpfully, "Though I would settle for finding another metaphorical fish like me."
Cu grins again as he takes his hand back at his new friends declaration. Cocking his head to the side he looks at Zee, contemplating his words as he flicks the line away from another fish. "I've found that the catch is less entertaining than the chase," He makes a dissatisfied grunt as he gets a solid bite and he has to reel the line in and remove the fish, carelessly tossing it back into the water.
"Obviously we're talking about different kinds of fish though," He seems to contemplate something for a second before continuing. "When it comes to fishing, it's all about the bait. If you know what your fish want, all you need to do is dangle it on enough line for them to hook themselves."

"I hadn't thought of it that way," Zee said thoughtfully, head tilted back as he pondered. That made a lot of sense. In fact, it almost made it easy. He just needed to put a spaceship somewhere nice and easy that they wouldn't pass up. Well, more a fake-ship than a spaceship. He was smiling now, staring into the water almost intently. "I think I can see why trying to catch things is more fun than actually catching them." His tail gave a flick behind him as he rose to his feet. "Thank you Cu. Could we meet here again sometime?"
"It's all about perspective my friend." Reeling his line in he stands as Zee does, jabbing the handle into the stand leaving it standing straight up and down, he snaps his chair up as well hooking it to his belt, before finally turning to his new friend. "Of course we can meet again, we wouldn't be terribly good friends if we didn't." Concluding he offers his hand to Zee again, when he takes it he'll give a strong shake, and say "Until we meet again."
Zee reached to shake that hand again, trying to match the enthusiasm Cu had the best he could, but his arms were slim and his hands were ill-suited for grasping. "I will see you soon, I'm sure," he said with a nod, then turned away. His eyes glowed blue behind his visor as he ascended from the floor, then lifted up into the sky and off to the distance.
Feet touched down lightly on the ground as Zee descended once more from the air, clutching his shoulder which had a trickle of blood still oozing from his wound. It hurt, oh god it hurt. He didn't know what to do or even if he could fix it. But he wasn't going to panic. No matter what happened he was going to stay calm. He needed to meditate.
Slowly he sank down to the ground, folding his legs the best he could and tilting his head down, trying to focus, trying to clear his mind of the pain.

Cu sat in his usual spot, smoke drifting from his mouth as he idly flicks his line, sending it flicking across the surface of the lake, fish following in its wake as he does, he looks up as Zee comes in for a landing, grinning around his cigarette he stands to greet the psychic type but stops short when he notices his distressed state. Drawing his line in he walk slowly towards Zee's kneeling form. Seeing his bloody shoulder he grimaces slightly before speaking.
"Zee, I'm not usually one for telling people their business, but you know you've been shot right?"

"Astute observation," Zee said, voice from his helmet lacking the usual sarcasm of such a comment. His eyes opened once more as his head turned to stare at him. "How is it that I didn't see you when I descended? Actually, nevermind. Do you -?" The helmet suddenly fell quiet until Zee gave it a couple of whacks. "-a bullet wound?" Oh hell, close enough.
Cu quirks a grin at his metallic friends helmeted head. "Who knows," He answers airily. Waving a hand around the beach, and shuffling to get a better look at the wound. "I should be able to fix this," He states, while pulling at the wound. "Doesn't look too bad, definitely a large caliber, but you're a tough bastard aren't ya?" He laughs raucously, throwing his head back as he does so, before pulling a thin aluminum case from one of his pockets, a first aid kit, and getting to work.
"I think it shattered my shoulder joint," he answered still in that calm tone. He watched what Cu was up to, then tilted his head. "And for the record, I didn't shoot first." He just wanted to clear that up before any implications or suggestions were made. A sigh escaped his mouth as he shuffled around on the spot offering his shoulder in the fisherman's direction. "Do you have any fish related metaphors for being shot? I could use one."
Cu's face is serious as he works, nodding at Zee's assessment of his wound, he pulls the slug out tossing it casually aside, waving off his comment of who shot first, didn't really matter who started it, only who finished it, but he cracks a grin at the question. Nodding once, "Well, when fishing with bait like we discussed, it's usually considered good sense to stand well clear of the trap until you're sure no more members of the school come looking for their lost friends." He grins wryly at Zee. "I take it, one of the wee fishes took a bite while you were gathering your prize?"
"Well it was more like I had my bait and I caught the fish but then a shark decided to intervene. A shark with a gun. Or... Well a human with a gun. But it was shark for the sake of the metaphor." He winced as the bullet slipped from his shoulder and it was a bit of a mess in there. "I guess I should take it easy on my right side for a while, huh?"
Cu makes a sympathetic noise of understanding as Zee explains his situation in his usual way. "I gotcha, didn't get your net out of the water fast enough." Nodding as if that explained everything, he continues. "Never cared for guns myself, takes too much away from a man, but I won't fault a man for using what he's got." Wrapping a bandage around the would and sealing it with something like a yellow slime he finishes, "You seem like ya heal fast, but yeah, I'd take it easy. I put some healing salve on it, made from fish if you'll believe it, you'll be right as a school of minnows in no time."
Zee pulled a face when he felt the rub of salve on his shoulder. It was an unfamiliar feeling that he wasn't sure he entirely liked, but after his shoulder felt a little better. "I hope so. I really do not want to be a failure to the people who made me." He let out a sigh and laid back on the ground, which looked uncomfortable due to the helmet. "Could you teach me to fish? I --." He gave a shake of his head back and forth until his helmet kicked back into gear. "-help me focus."
