a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Egatum

Description

Image

Tranquil as the moon, Egatum Revier is a creature of infinite mystery, even by appearance. Whilst some would classify it as glam, he treats it as fact, and the very garments he so wears always have their own history.

Standing at 6'3" on the dot, his height is contradictory to his relatively low weight, which happens to rest at about 130 pounds. As such, he often gets teased about how skinny he is, some even going as far as to claim him the undead. Oh, if only they knew. By and by, his movements are graceful, despite the paradox height and weight hold, and Egatum shows no difficulty in speed or grace, for he has both in multitude. Strength may not be his forte, but with the ease of his dexterity, he more than makes up for it.

Held within him, Egatum's blood system is instead a coercing elixir of formulas divine and without tact. Each second which they flow adds to the mitosis which his body has replicated, forcing divinity to occur with some resonant speed. When spilled, the liquid reacts vibrantly to the air, allowing an amount discerned by Egatum's fight-flight instinct before the elixir should heat and cauterize the wound. Unsurprising, the silvered blood then spilled is often used to conjure various tools to Egatum's person, be they arcane or mundane. In his words, "The ability to create is the ability to play god".

Personality

by way of persona, Egatum is a sarcastic fellow. Shaped by his past, his crude sense of humor and manner of dealing with others makes him seem standoffish. And this is exactly his desire in society, for his disdain for the company of others, whom as he has experienced tend not to have anything to say that would matter any, acts as a constant repellant to social events.

However, it is noted that despite the wraith's loathing, he does have a soft spot for beautiful women. Ignoring more or less everything they say, unless he should judge them intelligent enough to make his time worth it, Egatum is an incredible womanizer, whom can and will say everything that a woman wants to hear, without second thought. Yet despite the vice in lying through his teeth, Egatum bears a strong sense of monogamy, and in that right seems to bear ever-so-slightly a hint of a moral compass.

In regard to friends and family, he cannot say he has ever had either. Though yes, he was born of mother and father, they abandoned him when they realized just what he was, and he himself never looked back. As such, he has a slight distaste for people older than he; though his characteristics lead him never tell just how old he actually is, various contextual hints place him at a quite aged state. Friendships, for Egatum at least, are only temporary, if at all. Often found to use people whom get close to him, Egatum has yet to find a human - or non-human - whom he can comfortably associate with. The assumed reason for this is due to his inability to trust, for the people he lets close tend to betray him in ways he knows not how to cope with.

Equipment

Sophia. Ah Sophia. A curvacious blade similar to a Shamshir that Egatum has employed for so long a stint of time that he considers it his only true friend, this blade is truly as mystic as he is. Her silver girth, totaled at three feet one inch, bears such a sparkling form that in the proper light, she sparkles. Yet the light is not the only place in which she does this, for in the glow of the moon, Sophia glows a vibrant blue hue, a glow so beautiful even the wraith whom owns her is forced to grin.

But glowing isn't the end of what Sophia can do. Often does this blade, with silver trim to light the darkness, act as a guide for Egatum's very soul. The blinding lights she give are a whole other world for Egatum, and when Sophia glows, he is at peace. This glow forces his mind work several hundred times faster, coercing thoughts that normally take minutes to conclude in a manner of seconds. And so, when the darkness enshrouds him, Egatum is swifter than most, so long as he should have his darling Sophia.

History

Born in Nothing, I made Myself from Fire

Egatum's parents where human. So when they gave birth to a wraith coated in a silvered elixir, you could imagine their surprise. Quick where they to cast him off, calling him a demon sent by Lucifer, claiming he was the heir to the end. While this makes the notion of a terrible parent, Egatum grew to expect nothing more from those religious types. But the problem was, when they found out he was a silver-blooded self-healing creature of the night, nobody wanted Egatum anywhere near them.

So where was he to go?

The answer was an orphanage. Nobody gave a shit in slum-orphanages, they just put kids to work scrubbing floors or toilets, or anything else that needed scrubbed. Perfect for him, a regular Oliver Twist. And so he went, and stayed, for quite some time, in that run-down hellhole of an institution, working to the whims of any adults he found, patiently biding his time till he could escape. And when he was thirteen, he left.

Out on the cold streets, Egatum was a worm. And to an extent, he liked it that way. Each day was something new as he stole to survive. Unlike that Twist kid that Dickens wrote about, there was no one to teach him, he was alone. This carried on for five years; Egatum eating off of other people's plates when they weren't looking, stealing from vendors whom didn't pay enough attention, looting the deep pockets of the nobility. Noblesse Oblige, so they say.

Years passed, and they passed quick. In time, Egatum forgot how old he was. Not an uncommon trait for people whom don't age. Hell, he even forgot his birthday. But one thing he remembered was Sophia. In the flux of years that lost their titles, Egatum had met his true love. A beautiful girl with raven hair and snowy skin, her eyes where prisms that held his very attention in their flux of colour. Her name was Sophia Dainslef, and for whatever reason he couldn't name, he loved her. As he grew closer and closer, she reciprocated these feelings steadily, hesitantly, but certainly. And for a time, bliss came naturally.

For the years in which they where together, the Wraith was the happiest he had ever been, his life of theft drawn to an end. He told her everything, about his crimes, his sins, even his blood. And still, despite how much of a freak society had labeled him, Sophia accepted him with open arms.

But in time, Egatum himself came to realize an incredible burden. He learned that Sophia, as he, was not of human form. Yet her days where numbered, as his where eternal. She told him her own story, one not that different from his own. But she explained what she had learned about her own death. Depression, Spite, and Grief all at once overcame Egatum in the days after he learned of this, for shock had set the first. What had been worse, was that Sophia knew her end, and it was to come only in a matter of days. "I was glad to have spent the end of my life with you" she told him. He nearly ripped off his ears every time he heard those words in his head.

Despite his inability to cope with the situation, Egatum remained close to Sophia for her last days, as he felt they where his last as well. When finally it came time for the end, he still was by her side. Even when she faded, he held her hand amidst his own. In the wake left afterwards, her final words played almost constantly through his mind. "Everything will be fine" she had told him.

An emotional mess, Egatum walked the world over, though never once did he consider his life over. He searched and searched, hunting for the answer to what he should do now. He enrolled in a university, and obtained a doctorate in medicine. But still he felt nothing. He learned to speak nearly all the languages of men. And the void was still there. He even spent time on the battlefield, but still his heart stood agape.

It was only when he found his monochromatic shamshir that he did feel peace once more. Though his memory has faded and he holds no recollection of where he found the sword, he knew the moment he touched it's glowing handle that he was at peace, just as he had been with Sophia so very long ago. And so he named it for her, and kept it close at all times.

For several years after the finding of his beloved sword, there where no records of Egatum Revier anywhere. It was as if he had become a ghost in the rapidly modernizing world. But he knew where he was. He felt himself akin to the stars in heaven. Each step he took was another closer to his brethren, those like unto he. With Sophia reclaimed, he could tell there where more like she had been, and as he still was. And as time passed, his patience grew, turning Egatum from a common thief in to a man with his priorities set in motion. His goals became clear: He would cross the stars, and find his Sophia once again, for as he knew, she was somewhere amidst at least one of them.

So begins...
