Isolde Dunlap wavered as she tried to make a beeline for the door. She began to collapse, but clung onto the closest stable object, most likely a wall. She began to pant as she fought herself. So...hungry...It was like dying...She wasn't sure if she could starve to death purely spiritually...Would her body die, too...? What would become of her without a soul? If there was a heaven, a hell...Where would a dead soul go...? These thoughts flooded her mind as she felt herself slipping away. The tendrils of light extended slowly, weakly, desperately trying to stop what she could feel coming. She began to slip down the wall with a quiet cry.

Isolde Dunlap began to cry softly, her eyes closed, yet still allowing small trails of tears to fall down her face. Everything...hurt...so much...Her body trembled and shook as if she was having a seizure, but the mere touch of his body to hers...The light shoot out to him, wrapping around whatever part of him they could, like the hands of a small, scared child. She whimpered quietly as she began to drain at him...the lights began to glow again, but she still trembled and cried.

Isolde Dunlap slowly stopped shaking, her body almost limp in his arms as she panted. It almost...hurt more...how much she was taking...but she almost couldn't find the strength to stop. "I..." she rasped softly, trying to pull back the threads of light that covered him. "Let go..." she called softly, barely audible. If she couldn't move herself away from him, he'd have to move himself away from her...Her eyes closed again and she fought, now stronger from the revitalization. The lights slowly unraveled from him, unhappily, like a scolded puppy..."S...Sorry..." she choked out...

Isolde Dunlap coughed quietly, sitting herself up on weak arms. She merely waved slowly as he walked away. "Goodnight..." she called, her eyes watering up. She didn't...want to see the aftereffects...She wanted to pretend as if she didn't understand them. She simply stood up, shakily, her body exhausted from straining to contain her wild soul. She moved to the couch and laid down, curling away from the wet patch she had caused and closing her eyes. Eyes that were bright green and full of life for the first time in what felt like forever...

Isolde Dunlap 's face was scrunched up, as if in pain. Her dreams were an everlasting torment to her subconscious mind. She saw herself fighting, killing, losing friends, torturing, and everything...Every detail of the war was plastered across her mind, refusing to be forgotten. She cried in her sleep often, but even more often would call out names. Names of comrades and names of enemies, but her blessing came in a disguise. She awoke. There was a soft light upon her face and she blearily hoisted herself up to glare at the thing causing it...A book?

Isolde Dunlap pulled herself into a full sitting position and tilted her head, examining the book closely. There was something strangely attracting about it...Perhaps the mystery, perhaps the beauty...She gingerly ran her fingers down the binding and across the cover, letting them hover over the morphing runes. "What are you...?" she whispered to it, as one does to a secret lover. She lifted the cover gently, afraid to ruin it. "So beautiful..." she mumbled to herself. She used her other hand to gently flip through the pages, not understanding a word of it, but unable to help herself. It was just so...interesting.

Isolde Dunlap stared transfixed at the pages, barely even registering Elijah's words until the book was closed and the pages hidden from her. She blinked slowly a few times and looked up at him, her facial expression first one of anger then slowly turning to confusion and concentration. "It...What?" she managed, before the words he had spoken were replayed to her by her mind. "O...Oh. Yeah. I can't imagine you with pink hair..." she mumbled half-heartedly before accepting the bottle. "Thank you..." she added, staring down at the book for another long moment before replacing it upon the table.

Isolde Dunlap fiddled with the drink as he spoke, taking a couple sips before curling up into herself. She'd let something affect her so deeply...She was confused...and somewhat worried, but Elijah was fine after using it, wasn't he? She blinked as his voice broke her from her stupor again and she hesitantly looked up, keeping the eye contact, as uncomfortable as it was. He wasn't even looking back, it felt like...And she desperately wanted to look away, but eventually she tilted her head and began to examine his eyes. "What..." This time, it wasn't a question.

Isolde Dunlap frowned. Alarm bells were going off in her head, competing with the soft lull of the atmosphere...in his eyes, in the book. She stood slowly, approaching him and gently cupping his face with the palm of her hand, staring into her eyes. All of this was so out of character for her, but she felt a push...There was a sour-sweet odor in the air, she could taste it with her soul. "Elijah..." she whispered, calling like bells. She'd known those who could change their appearance before...She'd fought alongside one, even...but inside his eyes was not what she was used to. Her frown refused to budge...

Isolde Dunlap allowed herself to be moved, returning to her seat and immediately dropping eye contact as she curled up on the couch, her long hair falling to cover her face. "Velk..." she repeated slowly. The aura...the taste of souls in the air...It wasn't Elijah's...It was foreign and that only made her worry more. She'd taken a taste while touching his cheek, and now her head was reeling. "I slept as I always do...if in a bit more comfortable position. My back doesn't hurt as much as it did when I woke up on benches..." she replied softly, her voice slowly trailing off as if she wasn't really invested in the conversation.

Isolde Dunlap sat silently in the same position as he moved about around her. Her mind was running probabilities, scenarios, and she slowly rose from the couch again, not facing him. "Yeah...I have to feed both halves of myself..." she mumbled in response, just standing for a long while. She finally mustered up her determination and sighed. "It's not raining anymore, though...I should get out of your hair...Before I eat you out of house and home...and possibly life..." The last bit was a side note to herself, barely above a whisper.

Isolde Dunlap felt like a trapped animal, for some reason. She could feel a desperation rising up in her to escape this place...to leave all of this. Something about that book...It felt like a taint. Dangerous and terrible and she wanted to run and never look back...but...But then there was Elijah. A giant idiot who had invited her soul-sucking self into his home and was all put shoving food down her throat...She choked up slightly and just let her head hang, moving slowly to the kitchen. "Alright..." she mumbled softly, dejectedly.

Isolde Dunlap sat down gingerly as he offered her the seat, giving him a soft sound of gratitude. She grabbed a piece of toast and chewed on it slowly, barely taking much in each bite. She tried to beat back the rising urge to flee, focusing on the grains of the countertop, the sizzle of the bacon, the strong smells in the air...She blinked up at him as her name was called, her eyes holding a dead light within them as she nodded slowly. "I won't guarantee an answer...but sure..."

Isolde Dunlap nibbled a bit on the edges of the toast for a moment before leaning back and looking up at the ceiling. "A plan...?" She scoffed slightly to herself. "I haven't had a plan in a long time...In war, soldiers go where they're told, do what they're told...I haven't had need of a plan in forever..." She let her eyes fall back to the counter. "The only plan I have left is to die..." she stated quietly with a spiteful laugh. "There's not much else left for me...Sorry you've been wasting your food on a dead woman..."

Isolde Dunlap let out a rolling scoff, almost like a sob. "I had all those things...and I refuse to replace them just to watch them get destroyed again..." she stated firmly. She rolled her shoulders and put the toast down again. "If dying can't be my plan...then running...If I ever find a home...friends...or a significant other...ever again...I'll run from them." She softly traced the butterflies hand stitched into her outfit and scoffed again. "I can't relax, Elijah...Maybe for someone like you, it's the best option. But for me...I should've died in the explosion instead of coming here...I wish I had, actually. Then, at least, I'd have the closure..." She shook her head and placed her elbow on the counter, resting her forehead in the palm. "Because eating certainly does nothing to close the holes...so I try not to waste energy on it..."

Isolde Dunlap buried her face in her hands and just sat there, ignoring the world as she always tried to do. This wasn't her world, anyway...She was out of place here, why should she even care? About anything? Why hadn't she run when she'd felt the urge? What was it that kept her feet planted to the ground even as her soul was screaming to escape? Whatever it was was fading quickly and she could no longer contain herself. She slowly felt her eyes close as her body went limp, head hitting the counter and body barely staying on the stool. Light began to exude from her back and tendrils extended, creating for a moment what appeared to be ethereal wings...

Isolde Dunlap let out a shriek, her soul halted as it had been exiting her body. Her head flew back as the shriek continued, the tendrils of light flailing behind her. Her eyes snapped open, the light exuding from every part of her. Her soul echoes the scream, even as it devoured all it was given, like a black hole. She was aware...For the first time, she was aware of both her halves at once...Her body was bleeding slightly at the corner of her head and she was starving...Her soul was filled with energy, ready to burst from her in an instant...and yet it was stuck. She slowly fixed her whited-out eyes upon Elijah. "What...did you do...?" she questioned raspily. Then all at once, the light and tendrils retreated back into her, leaving her gasping for breath, dizzy off the power. She stood and walked to him, crouching by his bed in a daze.

Isolde Dunlap gently cupped the side of his face again, the tendrils extending, but not taking anything from him...Simply caressing his face as their energy was filled to the brim...She almost felt as if her own essence was now overflowing from her body...It was no wonder the tendrils were acting on their own. She slowly nodded and went to get the bottle of water he had been drinking from, bringing it back and offering it to him. "Sorry..."

Isolde Dunlap sighed and watched him for a moment..."Right." She sat down on the edge of the bed, shifting his head into her lap, the water bottle still in her hand. "You feel well enough to still swallow, right...?" she questioned quietly, trying to look down at him without her hair falling all over his face or obscuring her own line of sight. "Because I don't want to drown you trying to help..."

Isolde Dunlap gently flicked his forehead before tilting his head up and giving him the water like a mother would to a baby. "Yeah, yeah...You may have stupidly done this to yourself...but you did it for my sake..." she mumbled, careful not to pour too much at a time and giving him time to swallow and breathe between offers. "So I guess I have to make sure you're gonna survive before I can run away this time..." She would give him the rest of the water until he was satisfied, then hope for him to fall asleep, never moving his head from her lap...Maybe she wouldn't run, after all...
