Isolde Dunlap laid in a dirty sidestreet. Her eyes were closed and her breathing was rough, forced. However, if one was watching, one could see her begin to stir. Her head began to twitch back and forth...then her hands clenched and unclenched...and soon enough, she was on her feet, her bright green eyes finally opened. "I'm so hungry..." she rasped to herself. She stumbled out onto the street and glanced back and forth. Plenty of people...but she couldn't just feed off anyone...No, she needed to find someone strong. Someone that she wouldn't harm too badly, someone that no one would notice, either...And there he was, heaven-sent. Sitting without a notice of her, simply sitting and drinking. She closed her eyes and prayed for a moment before strolling casually toward him. She acted disinterested and simply sat next to him, her chin going to her hand and she looked the other direction. Maybe...he wouldn't even notice...

Isolde Dunlap sighed silently as he closed his eyes and her jaw began to quiver. She hated this...she'd become a thief...a rotten thief...Out of all the things she'd been forced to do since the war had broken out...stealing from souls of innocents was the worst. She remained casual, resting her other hand on the bench as close to him as she could without being odd...and slowly a tendril of light extended. It was barely glowing at all anymore, her own soul was dying...starving. She'd held off so long...but it slowly reached out, tentatively, and tried to wrap around whatever it could...

Isolde Dunlap shivered slowly as the energy began to fill her and the tendril grew brighter and brighter...So long...Like a poor man at a feast, she couldn't pull herself away when she wanted...There was a tingling covering her body as she regained her powers, but suddenly it was gone and she couldn't help but give out a small yelp of pain. She quickly pulled her hand back to herself, the light shrinking out of sight. She tried to act innocent, staring at the man like he was odd to suddenly jump up and babble.

Isolde Dunlap quickly looked away from his eyes. She couldn't stand staring at him...her victim...She simply nodded at her lap and turned away again. "Don't apologize..." she mumbled softly. "Nightmares happen to us all..." Hell, she'd lived hers...again and again. She'd seen people she loved die every day of a terrible war with no end in sight...She shifted awkwardly, trying to dislodge her thoughts. And what was she now? A soldier with no war...just a petty criminal. Nothing left...her shoulders fell.

Isolde Dunlap shied away from him as he sat down, pushing herself into her side of the bench as if trying to escape. She tried to keep her face from his sight, even scrunching farther into herself at the question. All she could feel was guilt...she couldn't even relish the energy she'd finally received, that was giving her the ability to feel and move. But then...words. She whipped around to look at him, terror in her eyes, her entire body trembling. He...knew...? No, no, no...He couldn't...No..."I..." she began weakly, but the rest of her words were choked in her throat.

Isolde Dunlap looked away again slowly, backing up again and folding into herself. "I'm...sorry..." she mumbled softly, uncertainly. It hurt to even hear her own voice. She used to be...peppy, happy-go-lucky. She'd even go so far as to say she was confident and strong...but now...She shrugged slightly and merely repeated after him. "Wing City..." She'd heard the name a few times in her stay, but didn't register it. After the explosion...that tossed her out of her world, she didn't care where she was. It wasn't home. "I'm...Isolde," she added, not moving to take his hand. "I used my soul to drain some of yours...You should recover quickly...though you may feel a little emotionless in the meantime..." She was a parasite...

Isolde Dunlap nodded a little. "Right..." She shuffled slightly and moved her head enough to look at him from the corner of her eye. She watched his eyes run over her. And she hated it. She didn't want anyone to see her as she was now...She used to be...beautiful, majestic, almost...She'd leveled cities, and now she was a dumpster rat...She began to shake again. Now with anger. Everything was wrong. Nothing...Nothing was how it should be. She scoffed softly to herself. "Whatever..."

Isolde Dunlap buried her head in her hands and the shaking quickly turned to trembling. Her soul was having a hard time processing the emotions...after so long, it was almost foreign to her. She didn't make any indication to the Elijah that she had heard him. Everything in her that had burned now ached. Her body became wracked with silent sobs and she cursed herself. Her soul only fought her now...It wasn't her honed weapon anymore, only a ravenous burden she couldn't rid herself of...

Isolde Dunlap ran her hands over her watering eyes and down her cheeks over and over again until she was satisfied that she'd erased all evidence. She slowly sat back again, looking away. She didn't want him to see the red-stained eyes, she didn't want any pity... "I appreciate the offer...especially since I..." she trailed off and sighed. "But I wouldn't know where to start..and you wouldn't understand...All of it is...lightyears away now..." A soft tendril of light began to slither towards him again, but she quickly pulled her hand away. Hadn't it had enough? No, of course not...Never...

Isolde Dunlap sighed softly. "I don't...even know which direction I'd go...to find my world. For all I know...he destroyed all of it. Even that girl he wanted to protect is probably dead...or somewhere like me..." She sighed and shook her head. She wasn't making sense, probably...He wouldn't understand a word... "Where I'm from, there was an Organization...It was created for...people like me. Unexplainable powers that cropped up out of nowhere...I was in training to become one of them, a cleric...But war broke out during the testing process. The...person I was supposed to be teamed up with was killed...right in front of me...And one after another, everyone I ever knew was killed or turned...Until an acquaintance of mine blew himself up...trying to stop the battle...And I woke up here...There's your short version..."

Isolde Dunlap broke into laughter, but not happy kind. Coughing laughs shook her body, her eyes turning sharp and dangerous and her face a scowl. "I don't think you understand, do you? Maybe I'm not clear. I'm not someone safe to simply have over. The short version leaves out all the destruction I've caused...It leaves out every face of every person I've killed, every soul I've stolen from it's body and consumed, and the cities I've decimated out of anger, grief, or simple spite." She locked her eyes onto his, dead, watering eyes. "I'm a monster..." Then they fell. "Even by my own world's standards..."

Isolde Dunlap stared at his feet. She'd expected him to run...to scream, to hit her, something...but he didn't. He just continued to push his offer, as if she was any other homeless woman...She sighed softly and nodded a little. "Right...fourth floor...6B..." she repeated softly. She wasn't sure if she'd ever accept...Could she really take anything more from him...? She shook her head and shakily stood, brushing off her stained dress. "I'll remember..."

Isolde Dunlap skulked through the hallways of Gambit's, her eyes searching for number she'd been given before. She was moving quickly, in a panic. Her entire person was drenched, her hair clinging to her body and dripping all over the carpeted hallways. She came to halt as she found the door...suddenly losing her previous convictions. She stood shivering in the hallways for a good five minutes before jumping. A thud? She...hesitantly tapped on the door. Prepared to be turned away...

Isolde Dunlap avoided eye contact, staring at the floor with all her might. "Yes..." she replied simply, hugging herself and continuing to shiver. She wouldn't actually step inside, though. "But I'll ruing the carpet..." she mumbled, actually taking a small step back. This had been a bad idea...No, no...She shouldn't've come. She should've found some charity, or...Even tried to dry off in some remote corner...but...she didn't want to risk...becoming a victim. She rolled her shoulders and continued to create a wet puddle around her feet. "Sorry, I shouldn't have bothered you..."

Isolde Dunlap tentatively stepped inside, her eyes still glued to her own feet. She watched him from the corner of her eye and gently closed the door behind her. "Alright..." she replied, standing awkwardly near the door and shuffling her feet. She slowly took off her gloves, folding the smaller within the larger and simply holding them. She was still shaking, but she had straightened herself. Tried to look...less like her pathetic self.

Isolde Dunlap slowly nodded, hesitantly moving to sit on the couch, placing her gloves beside herself. "Th...Thank you..." she whispered quietly, trying to take up the least amount of space as possible. Her jaw trembled as she spoke, the cold leeching all the way to her core. She could feel both her body and soul growing weak...This was a bad idea. "No..." she stated after a soft sigh. "I just didn't want to stay in the bar...I was being leered at..."

Isolde Dunlap held out a bare hand to accept the towels. Her hands were rough...scarred, burned. In fact, the skin that the longer glove had covered seemed to have been completely engulfed in flames at some point. She pulled her ponytail to the front of her, beginning to pat it dry with towel, also drying her shaking arms. "I'll...leave as soon as it's stopped pouring...I can manage myself..." she stated softly, hiding her eyes.

Isolde Dunlap slowly stood again, drying her body off in segments, ignoring any looks. Her outfit wasn't exactly...good coverage...but that hadn't been the point when she'd requested the design. Then, she invoked terror and awe. Then, she was a powerful force...but now. Now, she was just a haunted girl in a strange world...forced to ask strangers to house her away from a mere thunderstorm. She unconsciously began to make rougher movements, scowling. "I'm not..." No, that was a lie. "I won't feed."

Isolde Dunlap placed the towel on the couch and sat again, pulling it around herself and patting at her gloves now. "Right..." she replied softly. She could feel her soul growing restless...it hadn't left her in so long...She was so hungry...Before had been like a crumb of bread to a beggar like herself...It hadn't done much to sate her hunger. She unconsciously made a pained noise, soft. She rubbed her head and just relaxed into the couch, trying to ignore...everything.

Isolde Dunlap 's fists clenched slightly at the comment, barely noticeable...What was noticeable, however, were the very faded tendrils of light that lashed out at him from her arms and hands... She quickly hugged them to herself, shrinking into herself and mumbling over and over again something softly. She suddenly stood and made to exit the apartment altogether, despite the clap of thunder proving the storm was still happening.
