Jon Ben was born on the streets to a fatally stabbed hooker. Growing up; he has never been sane but has managed to stay alive all these years. He looks out for the ones in the slums where he makes his home. Horribly claustrophobic, he has trouble whenever he cannot see the sky, as if it won't be there when he next looks up. Alcohol seems to make these issues subside.

Jon has a strange ability to see what is inside people. He sees the beauty and ugliness from within. Immune to the delirium put off by werewolves, the masquerade of vampires, the glamors of fairies, he paints people for what they Truly are. This is not without cost as being near them as he gets horrible visions whenever he is near 'monsters'.

One particular incident of these visions was when Jon went into a bar. He ordered a drink and a girl came over to him. Jon, ever polite despite his smell, said hi and nodded. She smiled and used one of her vampire psychic powers to read his mind and see what he saw.

She saw the room become darker and quieter, the club music fading to almost near silence. From where the walls met the ceilings, blood began to pour down. A face, then a second then hundreds as every victim she had ever killed reached out from the blood, cried out in pain and agony. "You killed us. She carries our blood. Murderer."

The vampire was not able to go back into any building for a week.
