Jules Restlin

The Dark Light of Eras

0 · 2,248 views · located in The Ruins

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Tearen Wover

Description

APPEARANCE

Despite being a lich, Jules appears to be a (mostly) fair looking young man of soft, refined features. He has flowing raven hair that is dressed in brass and gold tassels that drops down to his chest. He wears an incredibly long, hoodless cape of red and black silk, which wraps around his jagged white-and-gold plate armor like a shadowy cloud. One of his most notable features is the third eye on his face, located just below his right eye, which never closes. All of his eyes shine with the dull, red light of Eras.

HISTORY

Despite being relatively young, Jules has a long history in the Multiverse. A native of Terra, he learned several basic principals of necromancy at the relatively young age of 25, and rapidly became fascinated by becoming a lich. When he attempted it on himself, the process was faulty and resulted in him becoming a nearly mindless undead lunatic. After being killed for the first time, he spent some time climbing the demonic ranks of Hell before being resurrected by his own power. Now the Demon Lord of Heresy, he went about wreaking havoc in the mortal world before being slain once again by a cleric. With no way to escape the power of Hell, Jules gave up his demonic powers and pledged service to the eldritch god Nyarlathotep. That didn't turn out well either, so Jules went into hiding to the far reaches of the Multiverse and discovered the deeply magical planet of Gaia. Now, wiser and stronger, he has once again attempted lichdom, and succeeded. Jules Restlin now spends his quiet days in the dark depths of Gaia, researching her dead gods and forgotten past, looking for a way for him to surpass all mortal limits...

Jules Restlin chuckled, never one to allow another person to have the last retort. "Oh I would be the first one to tell you that, bud. I did die. Then I came back." Jules said, returning his being into his far more preferred form. With an ethereal grunt, if even just for effect, Jules retracted the boney limbs back into himself with a sickening crunch, before strolling over to the cadaver. Giving The Assassin a casual nod of comprehension, Jules sat down and went to work repairing the severed limbs. He hadn't wanted to fight, and now there was no fight. Good stuff.

Jules Restlin would begin to have whistle in his ghostly voice, repairing the wonderful cadaver's more massive damage. Bright, sickly light would spill out of the seams created when Jules' more precise bone ligaments pressed stump to stump. In no time, the body was whole again...well...it was put together right, at least. Now came the fun part. Driving a spindly shard of bone into the cadaver's chest, Jules began to take swap certain bits of his flesh with the body's, effectively repairing his charred skin and fixing the hole in his head. The wounds would, of course, appear on the body, but it was of little import. With one final flash of the eyes, Jules would reanimate the body with necromantic power, the clumsy corpse getting to its feet with a ghastly moan. Smiling in thought cheerfully in thought, Jules bounced out of the bar, happy with his winnings for the evenings. A new body to add to his collection always brightened the Lich's mood.

Jules Restlin trotted out the door into the warm night beyond, his unnatural creation lumbering behind him with heavy steps. The sickening duo's eyes could be seen glinting with their yellow sheen as they walked past the bar windows, causing several patrons to shy away from the windows in mild revulsion and fear. Jules would head south, intent on getting home to the Den

Jules Restlin stepped slowly into the bar, his latest abomination trailing behind with a prodigious stench. What had previously been a regular, human female corpse, was now an almost lupine monstrosity, the bones of the original skeleton reshaped and altered to meet its dark master's specifications. After combining the original corpse with some extra bones, the fleshy, yet bone riddled creation had bleached white armor and spines made of bone. Yet, merely because he was twisted as a twizzler, he had kept the corpse's human face, the once pretty female face now gaunt and slowly rotting away. It's eyes glowed with a dim yellow, as it looked everywhere its master didn't. Jules had sensed yet another corpse present in the bar, and he was eager to add the new cadaver to his collection. Looking around, his three eyes happened across the form of Venie and Jadesohn. The body had little left of it, as he sensed most of the parts in an odd box near the little girl. That was fine. Perhaps he could have the rest. Walking his straitjacketed form closer to the pair, the Lich didn't even look at Jadesohn as his enchanted, ghostly voice called out to Venie.

"I would very much like to have the rest of this." Jules said, nodding towards what was left of the cadaver.

Jules Restlin raised one sepulchral eyebrow, but waited patiently, and let the odd little girl do her work. He did not sense an air of the undead about her...but it was...close. Jules shook his head mildly in confusion. Perhaps more could be learned about this little one. Jules bent down, his dark hair cascading over his unnatural face. The abomination behind him didn't move an inch, completely under the control of Jules. Its stench was rather powerful though. Its horrid face turned to Jadesohn, its mouth moving in horrible ways in response. This way, Jules could keep examining the wonderfully interesting little girl, while his newly crafted servant could manage cursory introductions. The voice from the creature was raspy and haunted as it tilted its head.

"My name is Jules Restlin. A...pleasure to meet you, Jadesohn." the construct said, every other inch of it completely immobile. Meanwhile, Jules chuckled in spite of himself. A construct speaking to a construct, how perverse.

Pleased with the free corpse, large, boney spear-headed limbs would sprout from his straitjacketed back. They stabbed the body harshly, effectively shish kebabing it. Hoisting the grey and gaunt corpse high over his head, the body dangling from the spears like meat at a market, Jules turned on his heal. He had not interest in the humanoid robot, nor the giant robot. His interest was, mildly, in Venie, but not so much that he wouldn't pass up the opportunity to begin new necromantic experiments. The indescribably evil being began to walk calmly towards the exit, the wolfish abomination following suit.

Jules Restlin stomped into the bar, his unseen eyes looking over all the living humans greedily. Such beautiful example of potential in these bodies...and with this being the multiverse and all, well, he might even come across someone with a power he could assimilate into one of his twisted necromantic experiments. Indeed, one of his latest creations lumbered in behind him. The corpse had, at one point, been human, that much was sure. But the body had been twisted and shaped into a more lupine form, boney spikes and plates covered its festering flesh. The gaunt and feral human face had been preserved, the dimly glowing yellow eyes flicking around the room so Jules did not have to. The young lich spied the form of Sabrath, the other lich he had encountered. So THAT was what he'd felt.

Jules Restlin trudges slowly into the bar, his straitjacketed gait carrying him surely through the doorway. In front of him, a severely horrid looking creature held a dusty old tome up towards his face, so that the young Lich didn't need to stop reading despite walking. This particular construct looked as if it had been meticulously taken apart and stitched back together, its grey flesh bloated and sagging. The...nigh indescribable undead creation that trailed Jules was rank with not only a rotting stench, but an aura of twisted darkness. It was obvious the creation had once been a human corpse, but had since been twisted and formed into more of a lupine configuration. Large, bony spines and armor covered its corrupted body, but its face remained undeniably human, however gaunt and haunting. Jules sat down at a booth, the shorter of the two creations placing the book before him, while the larger monster stood motionlessly, watching for any advance towards its master.

Jules Restlin payed no heed to The Assassin, his vile construct instead turning to face the skeletal warrior. The eyes of the gaunt face flashed brightly, as it silently drew itself up to its full height. Jules was very much invested in learning this new spell he'd come across. It was a wonderful way to defeat an opponent without damaging their flesh; perfect for any experimental necromancer.

Jules Restlin chuckled in response to the assassin. Keeping his attention focused on his spell book, his two brand new creations protecting their rightful master. The larger, more feral looking beast lunged at The Assassin in the manner of a freight train, intending to tackled and rip the skeleton limb from limb. The smaller, more pitiable looking beast opened its moth wide...wider than it should have been able to. In fact, its entire chest cavity opened, as a deep howling came out. With mighty, enchanted lungs, it drew the noxious gas into its own undead body, rapidly sealing up once the threat had passed. Then, for good measure, Jules' eyes flashed, and nine extremely angry looking shades burst from the shadows of the bar, homing in on The Assassin like a flock of dread ravens.

Jules Restlin was equally delighted when the assassin followed through exactly as Jules had planned he would. After analyzing the fight from last time, Jules had prepared that particular experiment for resistance to explosion. As the vile jaws of the beast snapped shut, the gasses would indeed ignite. But instead of flying in a thousand different directions, the squat, grey construct would just, more or less, vomit a large tube like tongue. The ignited gas in its stomach spewed from the tube like a massive flamethrower, aimed more or less in The Assassin's direction. As for the beast, it was not one to be undaunted by a simple evasion, as large spikes burst from all over its body, as it again surged at the skeletal man. The shades, operating well in a pack, would surround the enemy, and try to block his escape routes. Meanwhile, Jules took this opportunity to summon a cloud of deeper darkness, an inky veil which no normal light would pierce. He was fully aware that The Assassin could probably see in it nonetheless, but it made his dear shades all the more powerful.

Jules Restlin used his shade's eyes to see in the all consuming darkness, and what he did see concerned him slightly. So, the skeletal man new to eliminate a target's support before addressing the target itself. Bravo. But Jules was very much not some impotent king piece in this deadly game of chess. Acting on programmed instinct, the grey, blobby corpse shot its disgusting tongue at the oil just secreted by The Assassin, with intent to lick it all up like syrup. Jules did not want this task to be interrupted. Reaching out with necromantic power, he attempted to cast a Bone Shape spell on the whip like bone tongue, trying to shape it into a large, mask that would cover The Assassin's face. Seeing as how the skeleton had jumped strait up into the air, the shades all huddled together beneath his landing spot, acting as a cushy black cloud of negative energy. Meanwhile, the beast, jumped off of the table in a rather acrobatic maneuver, lunging at the skeleton with outstretched spines.

Jules Restlin allowed the boney mask to smack him in the face impotently. "First thing that came to my mind." the Lich said, breaking his silence for the first time. The shadows would recede, revealing the combatants again. On any other opponent, it would have given Jules the opportunity to try out his new spell. But, as it was, The Assassin was undead, in the most technical of terms, so it would have no effect. He really needed to learn how to shoot a fireball or something. The beast would make no noise as its carapace caught fire. Most of its bone components were merely singed, but the more fleshy core was actively burning. Still, this did not dissuade it from attempting yet another pounce at the skeletal warrior, the shades whipping back behind The Assassin to prevent the easiest escape route. Deciding to take a bit of a risk, Jules began the incantation for a possession spell, intending to take control of this entertaining menace.

Jules Restlin 's eyes began to light up brightly, the incantation for possession almost now complete. His monstrosities would have to take care of themselves while he concentrated on the complex inner ritual. The beast cadaver continued to burn as it met with The Assassin in a terrible clash. The goop had blinded the beast, but it could still try and rake, slash and tear at The Assassin beneath it. The ever present pharynx of the grey blob would lick and slurp the foul goo from its feral counterpart, waddling towards the conflict mindlessly. The shades would also press towards the assassin, a large swarm of inky shadows howling in at a target rich in magical energy. The wine glass offered by Kisa went completely unnoticed amidst the unholy fracas that was ensuing.

The massive undead construct was incapable of making noise, but if it could, it would be howling in rage, as anything readily flammable on its body was consumed by the enchanted flames. Still, pain only encouraged it, the heavy spiked limbs fully mauling The Assassin at every opportunity, though the integrity, if not the unnatural strength, of the beast was failing. The probing proboscis of the other undead would be undeterred, as Jules had designed it to be immune to flames and concussive force. The shades were a different story however. The violent eruption of light would cause them to shriek and howl in consternation as they scattered into any nearby object, hiding their incorporeal bodies from the accursed light. All was not lost, however, as the necromantic and tenebrous energies that Jules had been summoning were now at their peak, the young Lich's face almost silhouetted by his shining eyes. With a treacherous roar, he would project his mind at the magic battery inside of The Assassin's chest, attempting to take manual control of the other mind's thoughts, perceptions and actions. Such a powerful ritual would not be easily swatted aside.

Jules Restlin scrambled into the bar, tripping over his feet in an insane dash. With a bewildered squawk, he slammed into the ground, and lay there. Someone dying...someone dying...wait...no. Not anymore, not dying anymore. Linger.

With a deep, shuddering sigh, the straitjacketed form of the young man shivered on the ground as if cold, sobbing softly to himself. His stringy black hair covered his face as he lay there, an air of deep horror emanating from him.

Jules Restlin stepped into the bar, his straitjacket ruffling softly as the loud thumps of his two necromantic creations followed behind him. Jules himself was young looking man of an exceptionally grey pallor. His long, stringy hair covered his facial features as he calmly walked his way over to the bar top. Those gazing upon him would feel a feeling of irrational, creeping, fear. Behind him trailed a large, stinking, emaciated human corpse that had been twisted into a shape akin to a wolf. The other was a squat, blobbish creature, who couldn't seem to see past its own folds of necromantic blubber. Jules looked around the bar for the source of the undead non energies he'd sensed.

Jules Restlin 's muscles twitched upward in what should have been a smirk. There was an undead whelp in the room with no apparent master. Well then, Jules might as well help himself. Reaching deep into his reservoir of Necromantic power, he began to recite a guttural incantation. Jules' three eyes flashed brightly as he lashed out at the panther, attempting to subjugate the creature with a Bind Undead spell.

Jules Restlin was well aware it was a moot point to cause internal trauma to a being who did not rely on their innards to live. An undead being, did, however, need to be intact. Casting the spell of bone shape again, the skewered spear would begin to split apart into four blades, all stretching in opposite directions. If the panther did not back off soon, it would be severed neatly into four, clean parts. All the while, the beast creation, not really able to change direction in mid air, followed through with its pounce, attempting to pin the demonic abomination in place, so that Jules' delightfully grisly work could be done. It did, of course, catch on fire along with Jules, but it hadn't been the first time that the Lich had encountered all consuming fire. The grey blob was a creature Jules had designed to be resistant to any thermal energy, and waddled into the inferno unscathed, intending to take the savage blows of the panther for its undead master.
