Lanai is a less-than-ideal example of his species: He's a hybrid of both subspecies, and is missing an arm and most of his tail, as well as the use of his left eye and right leg.
The alien dresses in brown pants, with a black, sleeveless shirt tucked into them and zipped down to his upper chest, as well as a separate sleeve which attaches via a harness across his chest, and which only covers his left arm.
Underneath the clothing, however, is far less simple... Starting from the top down, he has four horns, triangular ears, a single pair of eyes (though only one works), a medium-length muzzle with a pair of prominent fangs, two slightly-long arms (though one was a prosthesis), ten webbed fingers (five to each hand), two legs, a long and muscular tail (though his ended about a foot down, so it was not quite so long anymore) and eight webbed toes (four to each foot), as well as three shades of fur (a darker russet, a medium brown, and a light tan), as well as a black mane, but those are not what makes him so complicated. That would be due to his many scars. His back is marred by many claw marks slashed across his back, a large gash in his right hip, a missing arm, a missing tail, a large bite mark in his left shoulder, as well as innumerable smaller wounds.
Although they are not visible, Lanai's species has a few organs not present in humans. The most notable would be the electroreceptors which run from his ears down his sides and back (though the ones in his mid-back are heavily damaged). These allow him to "smell" electrical currents in the water. They can also be used outside of water, but are far less sensitive. They also bear the ability to cause small pulsed currents from special organs, allowing them to communicate non-verbally in water, and have the ability to see into the infra-red spectrum, which allows them to see body heat much like some types of snake.
Lanai is... Complex. Due to his past, he is very cynical and sarcastic toward most people, and can be very buisnesslike at times one wouldn't suspect, as a product of his peoples' general attitude. That said, he holds himself to high standards, often playing the hero for people he feels kinship toward.
Lanai also suffers from slight paranoia issues due to his past, for which he takes medicine: capsules of dimly glowing, blue fluid that both ease the mind and stimulate nervous functions and bloodflow. When off of his medication, Lanai can seem jittery and fearful.
Lanai's primary tools are his cybernetic augmentations, both integrated and seperate.
Right Arm: Lanai's prosthetic arm acts as both his primary offense and defense, armed with metal claws, a slash/stab resistant sheath around the artificial muscles, and a vented blade housed in the forearm.
Draad (Tempest) blade: A vented blade in Lanai's wrist, which utilizes compressed gas to cause immense internal damage after the initial stab. Draad is also used as a slang word to mean "cool", meaning it could have the alternative, and rather pretentious name of "the Awesome Blade"
Claws: While not intended as weapons in their own right, the claws of Lanai's prosthesis are more than strong enough to shred through flesh and clothing.
Basilisk Assistive Limb: Due to nervous damage to his right leg, Lanai wears an assistive limb exoskeleton under his pants, allowing him to use his leg properly. Like his arm, it also has claws, which he uses mostly for climbing, but can also serve for combat.
