Personality

Lucifer is an odder sort of man. Prone to very quick mood changes. A madman and a gentleman. A deviant, a pervert, a criminal. Suave, quick-witted, and ever quicker to anger. Deep down, through all the things he has seen growing up, his sanity is slipping and even beginning to take shape. The bird that was once a rare occurrence in his life is now an almost everyday guest. Its hard to explain what kind of man Lucifer really is. The name he chose may be a hint. A dark tempter, full of empty promises and false loyalty. After all, the man used to be a pirate.

Equipment

Though he no longer has much of a use for his skills at arms now these days, he still feels naked without a blade by his side. Taking the blade from his sordid past, Bloodtide, he has hence had it reforged, now carrying it as a cane, hidden, and helping with his guise as that of an old man going feeble.

History

Lucifer's Theme

His history is a long one indeed. Lucifer, born Leander Ilmed to the parents Issiac and Corinthea Ilmed, was a mistreated child. Not in the typical sense, his parents were kind enough. But he never thought they gave him enough. Whenever he acted out, the discipline was harsh, but fair. Still, this anger just built inside him. His homeland was bad enough, but he always knew that other children's parents did less than reputable things to get by. He didn't understand why his parents didn't. One day, when he was older, he faked his death. Later in life, once he earned his own ship, the first place his sacked was his island home, killing both of his parents. After all, they hadn't treated him well enough.

Years go by, and now he is almost half-way through his twenties. His arrogance is starting to go to his head, and the Bird makes its first appearance. It bids him to start a war with Royal Eye, the most powerful pirate in the North Sea. Lucifer loses badly. His ship. His first wound in battle. Only his most loyal men follow him to the City State of Great Reef. Here, he sets all his plans in motion, including his complete take over of the Racing Circuit, which all started with a little harpy friend, and the Armed Forces of Great Reef, thanks to the fools on the Council. With the profit and arms he collects, the city-state falls to his rule. He rebuilds it. Perfects it. All the while, using it for his darker goals. Once the people found out, he was executed...four times. His luck never ran out. Each time, it seemed they missed, just a little bit, and with his elf heritage, he healed quickly.

Eventually, he got tired of the chopper's block and the hangman's noose. He took a schooner and fled the City-State, leaving his men behind. One night though, he awoke, in a lake, outside a great city. He settled in, started up a little crime gang, made enough profit to retire mostly, but he still keeps his hands in the crime world pockets, when he can.

Since then, he has acquired a vast fortune once more, and on top of a small, highly loyal crime syndicate, he also runs a completely legitimate racing circuit. In his old age however, he has begun to invest his wealth in anything and everything, almost always at a profit, on top of holding charity events and appearing at public ceremonies, something he used to never care for...

So begins...

Glared. Well continued to Glare. "I don't believe you, honestly I do not. I doubt their far from safe, especially see your For Hire is firing down on us with little to no care for this child's safety!" No the Men who are wounded and being fired upon would continue to backup with Ersilia? "I don't care! I won't have you be her Sponsor, and I'll need to see this for myself. And I don't wish to think about that, I'll kill anyone who does harm her or try to!" She would seem to cling to the cling, was Ersilia trembling somewhat from rage and she was honestly upset.

"No No! He isn't Dear, he isn't..no Man who would take such vile actions isn't right, he's just toying with us like some sick bastard. Now Sh we will get out of here, I will find us something to do that won't involve things like this... " She would seem to trail off now, remaining clung to the small Harpy. "No No, I will change that you can eat when you want, you can race if you want but I won't have you going near him again! Never." Nor that Race Track, knowing her luck he'd try something to harm the poor child, she just wanted to get the child out of here maybe get her some ice cream?

He shrugged, hopping onto the fountain edge, doing a little jig. "Like I said, I always be a winner. She doesn't have to have any interaction with me, aside from racing. I won't speak to her. I won't go within 100 feet of her, and I'll call of Blue from tailing her. Yes, he's been doing that, even in your home." He whistled, twirling. "You'll see. Her contract up, she goes. Until then, she races for me. Its that simple. You may not like it and hell, neither do I. Shes a lot of trouble." He paused, giggling again. "But shes good and she loves to race. Why don't you come watch one of the races. You'll see, its all on the money. No one gets hurt, ever. Not a single broken bone in any of the seventy some races held." He got close, very close. "Let ya daughter race, and you'll never hear from me again. Let her race, shes happy, I get my money, rightfully mine, and you get a daughter. We all win." The devil's grin, the silver tongue, the never-lose guile. The ex-pirate turned politician and business man.

For now, Lucifer Fortuna, or just rather Luci to his friends, kept his pompous little mouth shut. The aged man, dressed in far outdated formal wear, all of which violet and gold to match his demeanor, simply sat among the crowd, waving off his accountant. He knew construction was going slowly, he knew which gangs were in need of support after the most recent string of Wing City's troubles, and he knew which officials had yet needed to be bribed this month. But a lack of money? Who did this new upstart think he was, some kind of moron, a penniless peasant? No, this was the Man of Fortune, a semi-legitimate business man in the golden years of his life with more money than he even knew what to do with. And so he had come here. After all...no matter what his reputation, if they even knew of his underground activities...money was money, and an investor should never be turned away.

Of course Luci would clap once more. It was all well and good, but in this endeavor, they would need some...financial support. The pirate turned businessman could provide that, of course. He wouldn't even ask them to spread any propaganda, and he wouldn't even try to censor what they did and didn't report on. No. This was merely a task in fighting off the boredom that aging seemed to bring, and more than anything, Luci wanted just that.

To not be bored. And this...this promised to be entertaining, at least for a little while.

His house sat on the corner. It was a large, if somewhat empty house. Luxury, refined and furnished. Gated perimeter, white marble walls, hedge topiaries scattered across the lawns animals of the sea and sky, and the an odd-haired, aging man, garbed in a simple, full body robe. Gold in color, and in reality, made of cloth of gold if truth be told, a glass of wine on his veranda table, a newspaper in his hands. Throughout his compound, various hired goons and thugs stood watch. He didn't have too many enemies but they still existed. And the man was never one to be taken unawares, and he was never without a paranoid thought in his sin-riddled mind. A sip of sauvignon blanc, a turn of the page, the old pirate expected a simple, restful day. He may even visit his casino, or perhaps his race track. He hadn't been to either in awhile.

Though, despite his security and wealth, he missed his daughter. He missed his son. But both had abandoned him, and despite his efforts, neither wanted to be found, or so it seemed. It wasn't until one of his men, if he remembered correctly, his name was Isonav, delivered him a message. He spilled his wine as he made his way to his wardrobe room to dress. And to grab his blade. Lucifer Fortuna was furious.

Above the manse, in the crisp night sky, flew an airship. It's silvered hull and sleek form exuded the idea of speed, and the whirring propellers and ease of maintaining position showed its power. None of this was of importance to the guards below, however, because at the moment they noticed it, it would be touching down on the ground. The gangway would drop out, and down it slid a young man, no older than his mid-twenties.

Infamous as he was, Kvan Skyheart hated making a boring entrance.

He dashed forward, letting the wind lift his feet from the ground faster than any man could run. As he neared the gate, he crouched and blasted off, a cloud of dust rising in the arc he traced through the air as he flew himself over the metal grate. He landed soundly, only to stand tall and run forth once more. He reached the grounds below the veranda quickly enough and, with another crouch, shot himself into the air once more, this time landing neatly on the balcony's railing.

A guard rushed him and he blasted the man backward, off his feet and into the wall, knocking him out.

"A pleasure to meet you, Mister Fortuna. I think I've got some information you may be keen to hear."

A faint smile would creep on to the violet haired gentleman's face, his voice cool, wanton, and measured. "I'm sure you do, you brigand. What information is that? The theft of my material possessions? The kidnapping of myself for ransom? Was I so bold an outlaw at your age? No, no I think not, Kvan Skyheart. I think I myself was much worse, and quite a bit more violent."

In truth, he didn't know if that statement was false or not. Not that it mattered. If truth, and if expectation, Luci would've already shot his target dead, raided the compound, raped any and everything with a hole on the premises, and burned what was left to the ground. Complete cruelty was how he had earned and maintained his wealth, but no one on Terra knew that. No one here was from his home world. "Out with it, pirate. I plan on having a relaxing day today, and you won't be interrupting that." It wasn't a question. It was a fact.

"I'd say I've already interrupted your day, sir. Bit late to take that back. Still, I'd say that what I have to say is a bit more important. I mean, if it were information about my daughter, then I would hardly hesitate to pay attention." He smiled, relaxing. The small handle at the small of his back, looking much like the grip of a bow without the limbs and string, sat comfortably, reminding him he was safe enough just then.

"I mean, considering you had rewards out for such information, I figured I dig around. Stick my nose where it didn't belong. If I'd wanted your shit, then I'd have never landed to begin with. Good old aerial bombardment and what not." He eyed the white wine for a moment and shook his head.

"Figured you for a red wine kinda guy. Maybe a merlot or something sweeter. Doesn't matter. What I came here for was to let you know that your daughter's been spotted on the streets. She's not in the best of shape, either. Thugs and the like are her compatriots, drugs and addictions her friends. I figured I'd offer to tell you where to find her, if you're interested, of course."

Barely had the words left Kvan's mouth before a ball of white plowed one of the guards of the garden into the ground. The two bodies disappeared behind one of the plants, but the noises could still be heard. A flapping of wings, short shrieks of avian pain, the man's groaning, and claws against his flesh. The shrieking harpy appeared in a short flight backwards. Her feathers were in state. Bruises across her face and exposed neck, eyes as black as night...then the guard's hand appeared around her knee, pulling her back down in another flurry of feathers and screeching.

Luci was about to respond with, well, something. Probably a death threat, carried out in full. Airship or not, it truly wouldn't have mattered to the ex-pirate. Hired killers were easy to come by and cheap enough. And then one of his own wetboys could take out said assassin. A string of deaths and revenge with Lucifer coincidentally inheriting an airship afterwards to boot. But...

All of that was forgotten the instant the blur of ivory appeared in the corner of his eyes. All of it literally fleeing his mind the moment he heard her screech. With a look of contempt amusement towards Kvan, Luci rushed over to the commotion and in a fluid snap of his arm, he slammed his cane downwards onto Beib's left wing. Not hard enough to do harm, but pinned it to the ground.

"You will receive your reward, scoundrel, if and when you can manage to help me get her into the house. Conscious or otherwise."

Kvan watched as the man practically flew from his seat. It was impressive, but as he followed behind and noticed the guards face, not as impressive at how badly he'd been injured. Idiot guard thought to fight a harpy, got himself messed up beyond cheap repair. Modern medicine might be able to repair him, but it wouldn't come cheaply.

"How exactly did you mean? You want me to just throw her over my back and carry her? Considering what she did to this guy here, I'm not exactly keen on her talons getting near me. You get the cane off her, however, and I could probably figure out something." He reached behind his back with his right hand, gripping the pale green material that made up his bow's grip and pulled it back around before him, the bow's limbs sliding out from the grips smoothly and silently.

"Does having a lack of flying capability count as bringing her in?"

Beibhinn let out a louder shriek upon the cane's contact with her wing. Her desperate movement only increased, however, her other wing flapping out wildly, though not quite successfully. There was a small bulge within it, where the bones hadn't quite healed back together properly while she'd run around in the streets. Her clawed feet continued to scratch and dig at the guard trapped underneath her, screams beginning to emanate from the man as she cut deeper and deeper in her sporadic struggle for escape.

Finally, the first words started from her mouth, barely distinguishable from her shrieks. "Nooooo! Nonono! I won't, I won't! No more! Nomorenomorenomorenomore!" And the short mantra continued as she slammed her forehead upward into the guard's chin.

"Oh for the love of everything gold." Luci spat hotly, this time swinging the cane down on the other wing, down on the abnormal lump, harder than before. "Quit your squawking, girl!" Another tempered look at Kvan. "No, its not. I'll have to reset her wing anyway, which means breaking it again. Do your worse, just don't kill her and don't do any permanent harm." He said all this, crouching down with his full weight on the walking stick, driving it harder down onto her wing.

"Listen here, lost lamb, you will regain your composure and snap out of whatever haze you are in this very instant or this young man will be putting...some kind of point object into you, understand?" He talked to her harsher than he had truly ever had before, and it was because seeing her like this truly hurt his own non-existent soul as much as it could take. And that made him angry beyond belief.

And then, a harsh smack right across her face, hard, loud, backhanded, studded with rings galore. "Understand?!"

Beibhinn let out a scream, a high-pitched screech of pain that slowly fell in pitch and turned into soft sobs as if she was under extreme torture. For a moment, she stopped moving. "I want to go home..." she choked out, her blackened eyes searching around them desperately. "Let me go home, let me go..."

A pregnant pause as her eyes fixed on Lucifer's, before her body became to convulse violently once more. The short talons on the ends of her wings dug into anything they could and she flailed her torso around like a dead weight trying to fly away. "Let me go, let me go! Letmegoletmegoletmego!" Again, her voice reached a shrill, desperate pitch and the eye contact was broken.

Kvan's ears twitched ever so slightly, and he shook his head at her first screech. It had hurt, but he'd be fine. He'd certainly heard worse, even if he didn't want to remember it. Still, as he listened to her soft words, he began to pity her. If this was how she reacted to her father bringing her in, how would she react to being around him constantly.

Even as he waited, listening and debating what to do, she screeched again, much higher than before. He reacted instinctively, hand whipping forward then back, tension of an invisible string pulling the limbs of his bow swiftly back. An arrow of energy the same pale green color of the bow formed where his fingers pulled back. He let loose as soon as his arm was fully drawn back, the arrow launching forward and through Beibhinn's left leg. He'd aimed not to shoot lethal, but without rapid care it could become so.

Beibhinn shrieked out, "No more!" at the top of her vocal range, before her thrashing slowed down again. Her wings laid limply across the guards body and the ground, while her uninjured leg kicked softly and half-heartedly, as if trying to kick herself away. Her head swiveled back and forth a few times, as the bright red mohawk raised at the back of her head. "Let me go home..." she begged, addressing not Kvan or Lucifer, but the guard who'd passed out under her.

Unnatural feather loss was apparent across her back, with small burn marks the approximate sizes of cigarettes within the same areas. The claws of her feet were dulled, making it seem almost impossible to her to stand even if she tried. "Go..." she whispered weakly with one last desperate kick.

Running a hand across her head, as soothing as his temper could allow, he began to whisper along the lines of "Shuuush, shuush...you are home, Beib. Even if you don't get it." He would release her wing, and then once he saw the arrow dissipate, the aged con would attempt to lift her himself. She had always been light, she'd weigh less now, and he had carried her before. He took her off the track in his arms once, when her wing originally broke. If she allowed him to pick him up, he'd take her inside. If not, he'd get Kvan to do it. Promise him more cash. That always worked for their kind.

"We'll get you fixed up. Treat the burns, the bruises, the wounds. Get you bathed, you smell awful, girly." With another comb of her hair-feathers, he'd even try to kiss her forehead. "Just calm down, and we'll get you food, water, whatever you want, just stop struggling, chicky-chick, every thing is fine, Beib, or it will be."

The sky pirate returned his bow to the small of his back, the limbs retreating into the handle smoother than silk. He yawned a bit and watched the older man reach down for the girl, but as he neared her, the young man turned around. He didn't care for the sappy sounds and words coming from behind him, just as he'd never cared for the promises and rules of royals. They couldn't be trusted to provide what they said, so he made sure he was always prepared for anything he might have to do to secure his pay or freedom.

He couldn't help but watch as one of the gate guards stepped outside the boundaries of the compound, walked over to his ship, and promptly shot back a good three feet to land on his ass as the ship's defense systems stopped any unauthorized being from approaching too closely. He couldn't help but crack a smile at the sight, shaking his head as he turned back around.
