Lysaria Lestibournes

A Twinborn looking for some excitement.

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by HitoriRaven

Description

Allomancy
Allomancy is one of the three magic systems in the Mistborn fantasy novel trilogy, and is the most prominent. People capable of Allomancy are known as Allomancers. Allomancers have the ability to "burn" (or use) metals, in order to fuel a variety of physical and mental enhancements and abilities. For an additional burst of power, they may flare, or burn their metal especially quickly, consuming it at an accelerated rate, but gaining greater benefits in return. A person who can only burn one metal is known as a Misting. If a person is born with the ability to burn more than one metal, they can burn all Allomantic metals, and are known as Mistborn.
There are 16 metals that Allomancers are able to use: 8 basic metals (4 base metals and 4 alloys) and 8 Higher metals (4 base metals and 4 alloys). All these metals must be pure when ingested, and the alloys must be mixed to specific proportions. If the metals are impure or mixed wrong the Allomancer could become very ill or possibly die.
The Allomantic metals come in four groupings of four metals: Physical, Mental, Temporal, and Enhancement. Each of these four groupings has two base metals and their corresponding alloys, which in turn have a related ability. Each metal produces an Internal or an External, an Push or an Pull effect.

Feruchemy
Feruchemy is the second magic system in the series. Feruchemy works differently from the other magics. While an Allomancer burns metal to gain power, a Feruchemist can use these sames metals as holding units, or minds, to store up their own power. Basically, depending on the metal, a Feruchemist can become worse at something in exchange to be equally better in the future. No power is gained or lost.
The major strength of Feruchemy versus Allomancy is the speed at which one can access its power. While a Feruchemist must provide the power for the magic from himself, storing it over time, an Allomancer can simply consume metals to power the magic. However, an Allomancer has limits to how much power they can draw at once; a Feruchemist can draw out the power of the metalmind with virtually no upper limit, exhausting it in one massive burst if they so choose. For instance, a Feruchemist tapping a pewtermind can be far, far stronger than even a very powerful Mistborn burning pewter, if only for a short time.

-----------

Lysaria is a Twinborn, a person who has one Feruchemical power and one Allomantic power. She has to power to 'burn' iron, revealing blue lines that lead to her chest. With them, she can 'Pull' on the lines, which lead to metal. Physics still apply; if the item is larger, she goes towards it, if smaller, it comes to her, and if equal, then both move about the same distance. Mistings who can burn iron are know as Lurchers.
As a Feruchemist, she can store fortune, or luck, in a metal called chromium. While storing, Lysaria becomes unlucky, and when tapping, the opposite happens. Ferrings who use chromium are called Spinners.

As a person, Lysaria lives the life of a Twinborn and a courtly lady. Having her powers has given her freedom, she can be both polite and cutting, depending on the situation. For the most part, she is what is described as a 'tomboy', though the word has not gained significance where she comes from. Adventurous, brave, a bit short-tempered and sometimes foolish.

She wears a mistcoat, essentially a jacket with long swirling tassels, occasionally. Otherwise, she usually dressed in a late 18th century style suit, rather than a dress. After all, it's hard to move in one of those. She carries a flask tied to her belt, filled with whiskey and iron shavings. Lysaria also carries hip holsters that holds two Sterion 36's, six-shot revolvers modified to carry various types of bullets. A steel plate is worn on her chest.

Lysaria has long, wavy, blonde hair, which is pulled back into a ponytail when on official business. Her eyes are chocolate-brown and she stands at about 5'2, making her a fairly small target. She is fair enough, as far as looks go, though for the most part tends to hide anything that would get her noticed overtly.

So begins...

"Or just non-sociable," Lysaria added, "There are plenty of reasons for someone to be unhappy, and I don't presume to know them. Though I guess first impressions are important."

The blonde chuckled. "You did a fine job of not implying anything wrong," she informed him, running her fingers through her hair. "Ahead of the game there, and all at the age where you should be too young to be doing so anyway."

"Seventeen is pretty young," Lysaria retorted. "And come now, just because the average age is going down doesn't really mean much. Do you want to be one of those kids, hm? I suppose you must be curious about such things, though," she quipped, winking at him.

Really, it was true enough, but Lysaria hadn't exactly lived a common life. For her, these things didn't really quite come up until marriage was also the discussion topic.

"You've found that I am a terrible and perverted woman," Lysaria said, placing a hand to her chest and making a 'woe is me' motion. "Oh, I must apologize."

The act dropped like the bass in a dubstep song. "Expected the unexpected, no?"

"Well, I'll classify myself as such, just to give you ample pre-warning. But yes, seeing as this is Wing City..." she trailed off, "I would say expect more unexpected things. Or just don't be surprised."

Her eyes ran over the grassy ground, checking for anything interesting. "Go with good. When in doubt, doubt change. This place is...I won't say it's bad, but it's definitely not the best place to be. I know how it feels though. Where I come from, there are bizarre people, but they're all the same type of bizarre so it's not so bad."

"Where I come from, I'm uncommon, but not uncommon amoung those who are uncommon." Lysaria giggled at her explanation. "I know, that doesn't really make sense. But skills are common there, so mine aren't particularly special. It must be a bit lonely being treated like something different though," she mused.

The grin returned to her face. "Is that why you haven't had much experience with the.." She puckered her lips, blowing a kiss towards him. "You can always visit again."

"I did warn you," the blonde giggled again, pressing the back of her hand to her forehead and falling back into the bench. "Oh, Rust and Ruin, I'm a terrible person."

The woman blinked and flinched a little. She quickly raised her hands, trying to explain. "No, no, not that. I mean, your home. I was talking about your home. Not me or anything. Just, saying that you can still visit home."

This was a headache. She didn't mean for him to misunderstand.

"I'm sorry about that, I didn't mean to pry or anything. Like I said, I'm a bad, bad person, so forgive my distasteful jokes," she apologized, grimacing. "Yeah, good idea. Never happened."

Lysaria tilted her head. "Well, I think you'd be pretty welcome. Everyone is happy to see someone they care or cared for. And they'd probably be pretty happy if you could stick around a few days and help them out, no?"

"All the more reason for you to go back and help out...just make sure that doesn't happen again," she advised, also laughing softly. "Well, whenever you feel like going back, hit me and bring me! I want to try out the local delicacy. Wing City gets dull, you know? And then you'll have someone to brag for you. Win-win."

Her eyebrow raised and Lysaria waved her hand at him. "Of course, you are so last week. It's all about those stupid stories that no one cares about now. And celebrity gossip."

"Oh yes, how could I forget the vampires?" Lysaria agreed. "So much of that around lately. Hah, I wasn't exactly expecting you to say yes. But as long as there's confirmation, I'm totally down for it. And look into that, though Gambit's rooms aren't too bad. There're a few apartments nearby."

"Their walls don't take to well to flying bodies. But, uh, don't ask how I know that."

"Wooooow, everyone's so fancy that I feel underdressed. I guess the rich here are the same as the rich anywhere."

Leaning against a nearby wall, Lysaria watched the proceedings with a a grin. She was clearly not dressed for the occasion, just in her usual garb: a black and lengthy coat. The nearby android's words caught her attention, and she turned to Aiedal, Jayden, and Ethan.

"What, you guys on security? Sounds kind of boring, actually, though I'm not sure it's good luck to wish for an attack," she mused.

"I guess some excitement wouldn't hurt."

Ethan looked curiously over at Lysaria. "I doubt it." He shook his head. "This is the RIP... literally, like, THE most secure place on Terra. A bad-guy would be CRAZY to try anything here, especially on tonight. Security is double-duty."

He looked back to his fellow Militiamen, shaking his head. "Look, all I'm saying is that this is a waste of time. Didn't you guys hear about the Triad activity during the last meeting? We should be out doing OUR JOBS, not playing 'trophy-on-display' to a bunch of penguin-ish fat cats..."

Jayden rolled his eyes at Lysaria's question, "One part security, twenty parts 'hey look at our shiny volunteer militia'!" he replied, "The real security tonight is like a private army, like my friend here said."

Jayden patted Ethan on the shoulder, "Hey, I'm with you bud. I feel like a rhino in a china shop. It's just a matter of time till I say something I shouldn't or knock over an old lady or somethin'," he joked with a grin.

The space-racer gave a conspiratorial glance around, "Want me to nab you a drink? I know you're under-age and all, but pfff. Pffffff I say."

Aiedail folded her arms disapprovingly, "Jayden! That's against the law!"

Jayden waved a hand at Aiedail, "Lighten up! I'm designated driver anyway, if I can't drink I reserve the right to let Ethan do it for me. That's how it works in my books."

Aiedail frowned disapprovingly, but couldn't help the half-smirk that snuck onto her face.

"Oh, come now, be realistic. In my personal experience, the bad guys are crazy, which is why they do what they do. I think logic is third on the decision influence list for them. Just because there's a few more people won't stop them, I say," Lysaria said to Ethan.

She snickered at Jayden's response. "Well, if you look good, at least it's better rep. Which means more people, which also means people like you more. And if something does happen, you get to help and also prove yourself. I don't see how this is particularly bad."

Seeing as the other two militiamen were talking, the blonde slid over to Aiedail. "Pst. I don't watch enough TV. Do you know who all these bigwigs are, or am I going to be left wondering if I should've asked for an autograph before the night ended?" Her hand swept out to all the various politicians and other famous people, currently associating and being swarmed with reporters.

Ethan laughed, nudging Jayden with his shoulder. "As much as I'd like that, I'm gonna have to decline. I have a bad history with alcohol. I don't really want to see if I've gotten over my problems just yet... especially not here. Last thing I need is to get drunk and throw up all over the President of Alienland and start an intergalactic war."

He looked over at Lysaria. "What brings you here, then? If you're not connected with this big shots, how did you get in?"

"Aww," Jayden gave a mocked-up sigh of disappointment, "But it'd be funnyyy!" The racer grinned, "Fine, but you at least owe me the story behind that in return, and it better be a good one! So go on, tell me about your unfortunate drinking past."

Aiedail smiled to Lysaria, "I don't know everyone myself, but I can access my databases for you!" she said, pausing for a moment as information whizzed through her mind, running faces of the guests she'd seen so far through her head. "The men and women who arrived in the ship resembling a manta-ray are representatives of the planet Misrana - Rahuna Kell and Rida Galimas. Parliament Chairman Rubano Malijin and politician David Walker are present, along with NPA director Jamal Lebrun, Arianne Drulovic, Director of the TIB and her assistant Ahmad Fazari and his wife Aerylin. OmniCorp CEO Kynala Evantus is here speaking with scientist Dmitriv Arakov."

Phew! That was a lot of names.

Lysaria quirked a brow at Ethan. "I was under the impression that this was only recommended to rich people, not limited to them. I have my ways of hearing about things, and they didn't stop me at the door. So...to answer your question, I walked in through the door. One them, at least. Okay, so maybe I blended with some famous guy. Whatever. Let a girl have her fun."

"Oh, thanks," she nodded to Aiedail with a smile, "Man, that's a lot of people. Some of those sound familiar, though really, this just seems like a big political deal. I thought there would be like, movie stars or something. I guess I should've lowered my expectations."

Aiedail smiled to Lysaria, "Perhaps they are merely being fashionably late?" the android suggested, "A concept which eludes me entirely, but I've heard of it enough to assume it's a valid part of Terran culture."

Ethan nodded towards Lysaria. "Hey, it really doesn't matter to me. I'm just glad everyone seems to be getting along." He whistled to himself. "Misranans... vampires... there's an odd sort here today. I'm glad we're being civilized."

He grinned back at Jayden. "Well I can't remember most of it, though there was this one time I walked into this liquor store and literally started opening bottles of-"

He suddenly halted, feeling a particularly familiar blend of emotions in the nearby area: flirtatious humor and easy-going happiness... all smothered in a sea of arrogance. Derrick Rose.

"Rose just showed up," he said to his two other Militiaman, frowning immediately after, "...and judging by the wave of shocked emotions I'm getting off of the reporters surrounding him, I'm willing to bet he just something very controversial or surprising."

"I don't think I've met him yet," Jayden replied, "But he's the former stunt pilot, right?" The racer grinned, "I wonder whether we have much in common."

He wasn't one to assume that just because they both had pasts involving going fast and showboating that they'd automatically get along, but it was a conversation point at least.

"And you just started opening them? Wow, Ethan - you? I never pictured you the petty crime type," he remarked, grinning. "Or was there more to that which eliminates the shoplifting aspect - I'm not judging, mind! We all did crazy things when we were younger... I remember this one time I literally stole the engine out from one of my rival's ships. Man, was he mad... I couldn't go back to that planet for months!"

Lysaria chuckled, nodding her head. "Definitely. You must do extensive research on this concept of 'arriving fashionably late.' You would conclude that it is something all the coolest people do. Thus making it appropriate for movie stars."

The woman puffed her cheeks up, blowing out air towards Ethan. "That's...relative. With the way these things go, I'm sure there'll be deals out the behind, in the secrecy of dark rooms. If something goes wrong, I get the feeling it's going to be the biggest shitfest and you guys would have your work cut out for you." With a sigh, she shrugged, adding, "Well, to be fair, there are a lot of possibilities so there's no point in worrying about it."
