Nealaphh

Divine Steward of the Multiverse

0 · 2,911 views · located in Exalted Mountains

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Tearen Wover

Description

It is beyond difficult to summarize Nealaphh.

He is powerful as the greatest of gods, yet walks beneath them.

He has immaculate wisdom of all the spheres of the Multiverse, but does not exploit it.

He is unbound by any law, creed or nation, and yet serves the causes of mortals gladly.

This history of Nealaphh is long, and not always linear. Above all else, he is an utter enigma, taking whatever shape he desires and wielded whatever ability the situation calls for. Essentially, he exists outside of the Multiverse, looking in, and only intervenes when events take place which might threaten the very integrity of the collected realms therein.

Nealaphh is the Supreme Arbiter, the Steward, the Guiding Hand, the Righteous Wrath and the Loving Mercy. The Enigma's single greatest asset is his divine restraint, and willingness to let mortals go about their blessed lives without fear of spontaneous calamity. At the same time, Nealaphh cultivates change and chaos where he sees stagnation and long silence.

He does not require worship, and he does not desire to rule. Nealaphh's one and only mandate is the continued existence and life of the Multiverse. Those who would snuff it out, paralyze it with overwrought empires, or otherwise violate the flow of the Zeitgeist are his enemies, and even then, he is liable to forgive them. He cannot be prayed to, bartered or negotiated with, and his judgements are long-thought and final. He does not manifest himself in the Multiverse for arbitrary reasons; if Nealaphh is present, dire things are afoot.

So begins...

Nealaphh was somewhat saddened at the aspect of eventually having to kill this woman. She seemed sweet, and her immortality may not have even been her fault. Most immortals he rand into were arrogant power mongers, not simple beings trying to make their way in the Multiverse. But it was his job to eliminate imbalances in the flow of energy, and immortals were just that.

Nealaphh yawned loudly and looked up at the young woman, panting happily. Biological forms had their draw backs, but they also had great sensory bonuses. Still, he'd need to find an opportunity to do the dark deed quickly. In the mean time, he laughed internally at the kitsune and the vampire. Immortals, yeah right.

Nealaphh was not sure why the young girl was begging for food from a St. Bernard...

Nealaphh moved to sit under Danica's seat. It was a pity the woman would never get to drinking, but then again, that kind of went with true immortality. When the time was right, he'd sap the essence of eternal life from her. Entropy had to be maintained. Nothing lived forever. He was alarmed when she began to move towards the door. He needed to make a move, now.

Walking with her, he suddenly pounced at her, snarling viciously.

Nealaphh quickly shifted into the form of a tall, enrobed humanoid. His dingy brown rags hung loosely around his body, obscuring all but his black gloved hands. A low hood hung over his head, and a tall staff was carried in his left hand. It was tipped with a blue glass sphere. Nealaphh raised the staff above his head and paused for a moment.

"Sorry luv." he said in his low, crackly voice. He then swung the glass sphere right at Danica's head

Nealaphh grimaced as the young woman's frame went limp with the strike. This was different from other immortal executions he'd done. This just seemed like murder. But he could feel the unstable energy of life flowing from her, destabilizing the very space in which she lay. It would be done swiftly. A long, shining blade of light emerged from the glass sphere of the gnarled staff, making no noise at all. Nealaphh began to lower the incorporeal blade into where her heart would be, which would soon steal her immortality from her.

Nealaphh let out an unnatural shriek as the lycan attacked him. It wasn't entirely unexpected, but the speed with which he had moved was still impressive. Nealaphh was almost pleased the werewolf had intervened, the kill would have been so pathetic otherwise. Still, it didn't change the fact that he had been knocked to the ground. Nealaphh chuckled at the werewolf as his body dissolved into a cloud of smoke, swirling around the lycan.

Nealaphh 's smokey form drew above Peirce and solidified into a solid steel cube. The lycan was noble, he'd give him that, but Nealaphh was more concerned with keeping the balance of the universe intact. As the cube hardened, Nealaphh let his new form drop straight down, hopefully disabling both below him in the process

Nealaphh 's frame shivered with a silent roar as the lycan bit down again. It was at times like this he wished he knew how to fight with swords or something...but his job didn't give him time to learn stuff like that. As the werewolf continued to bite down with fearsome pressure, Nealaphh struggled to shift into a new form. He was able to mange a gnarled roll of barbed wire, an easy jump from the steel cube. Hopefully that would get this thing to let go. In the mean time, stray lines of barbed wire snapped and whipped at Peirce, which would cut him pretty badly.

Nealaphh rapidly gathered his scattered self and reshaped himself into the form of a well dressed black man. Standing tall, he looked the Lycan straight in the eye and put his arms behind his back. Brute force would not win this fight, especially since Nealaphh was draining his energy reserves rapidly. Nealaphh raised a hand and beckoned the Werewolf to him. A challenge of head to head combat

Nealaphh screeched at Danica as she was drawn out the door by a newcomer. Exploding into a cloud of snow, he tried to chase her out the exit. With his initial burst of speed failing, a lone flake of snow was able to drift by her ear, whispering a tiny message.

"Your time will come, immortal. Entropy will not be denied."

With that, the snowflake abruptly melted and fell to the dusty sidewalk outside. Now Nealaphh was nothing but a simmering pool of water. It would take time to regather his scattered energy. He'd been close. So close. The sheer implications strained his considerable patience. If the universe desired balance, why had it not made him function as a better tool? It made no sense...

Nealaphh let out an incorporeal sigh as his now misty form drifted back into the bar. Condensing onto the ground, Nealaphh slowly drew himself back into the form of the well dressed black man. Straightening his tie, he walked past the ailing lycan and sat down at the booth with Gat Ordering a bottle of whiskey and two shot glasses, he leaned back in his chair and began to focus on gathering his scattered energy.

"How's it going pilgrim?"

"No, I'm just a man is black." Nealaphh chuckled to himself. He wasn't especially surprised that Gat had no idea who he was, but Nealaphh wouldn't be so fond of the Mad God if he was any other way. Nealaphh unscrewed the cap of the whiskey and poured the two a pair of drinks. He let out a weary sigh. His power coming back, slowly.

Nealaphh looked over at the weeping girl. He'd been aware of her for awhile now, but her hunger could wait while he attempted to prevent a cosmic cataclysm. Now however...

"Bartender, a plate of fries and tenders for the young miss." he shouted, smiling at Haval. He wasn't sure if she was human, but she was an innocent. Innocents didn't deserve to go hungry. Nealaphh turned back to Gat and smiled mischievously.

"Depends if you can hold your liquor at all."

Nealaphh grinned maliciously at Tino. "Back off bloodsucker, I was being charitable first. Besides, I'd hate to see you tempting her with food just to eat her." Nealaphh observed the girl's strange behavior. Apparently beggars could be choosers. Nealaphh was curious, which meant investigation. Shifting his right arm into a large tendril, he grabbed Haval from across the room and set her down next to him in the booth. Smiling placidly, he turned back to Gat.

"Hope you don't mind my daughter. She's a bit of mute. Tongue got plucked by a testy cow."

Nealaphh shifted his arm back to normal to alleviate the pain. It was now noted that the young one had severely sharp teeth. She was apparently a carnivore, so Nealaphh wasn't sure why she'd rejected the chicken. She wasn't a vampire, she didn't have the stench of immortality on her. Interesting, very interesting. Taking another drink, Nealaphh looked intently at Haval. He paid no attention to the doll eating the fries; he'd seen far stranger phenomenon.

It also appeared that he'd upset Gat, much to his guilty pleasure. For a laugh, Nealaphh abruptly shifted himself into the form of a grey, that classic little martian archetype humans were so fond of. He held up his right hand and made the tip of the finger glow.

"Live long and prosper."

And then there was Yuki, though Nealaphh didn't know her name, just what she felt like, which was everything pretty much. Odd...

Nealaphh grinned mischievously and shifted his glowing right hand into the form of an orange power drill. Laughing in an alien voice, he began to take awkward, exaggerated strides towards Gat, revving the power drill as he approached. Hopefully the mad god would have an outburst in his panic, and mix up the patrons a little bit. Better than drugs, he was sure. (sorry repost)

Nealaphh gleefully bent his elastic arm around the back of his head and drove the bit of the drill through, the steel bore bursting through Nealaphh's silvery forehead. Green alien goo splattered all over the mad god, as Nealaphh dropped to the floor.

Nealaphh sighed with release. Dying felt so good after having used up all that energy trying to claim that immortal. Now he had a few hours to rest until his organic form rebooted. That was another trouble with organic forms: they could die. But Nealaphh's presence would still live on in every molecule of that form, gathering energy for a reboot. As it was, the spectre of Nealaphh could still speak, so at least he wouldn't get bored.

"Gat you've uh...you've got a little sputz on your chin there..." Nealaphh voice said, disembodied and omnipresent
