Description

Image

Name: Schuyler Callahan
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Race: Unknown

Physical Description: Schuyler who is unnaturally tall for her age stands at 6’0 and weighs in at 137. Her slender, tan, and toned lithe frame is in perfect shape. Long crimson red hair sweeps across her shoulders, draping down to her mid-back. Her eyes match her hair though they are a bit lighter. She generally wears whatever suits her current mood. Her footwear is a simple pair of tennis shoes that are generally rugged and worn in.

Personality Description: Schuyler has an endearing quality about her that makes her enemy forget what she truly is. It’s almost like she’s far too innocent to be living on a planet that houses some of the most dangerous individuals of all time. Despite living with a bunch of dickwads, and having to deal with ignorant people, she has managed to keep her compassionate side, which is something that has gotten her into trouble several times.

Skills, powers and abilities:

Telepathy: Schuyler has the ability not only to connect mentally with others, but the dead as well. Almost like a sĂ©ance, but a hell of a lot better, she can speak to the dead no matter how long they’ve been gone.

Psychokinesis: She has the ability to throw items around, move items from one place to another, and influence objects to land in a specific area when the object is falling. More specifically, Schuyler can move anything ranging from a feather to a car without having to put her hands on it. Whether or not she can move something larger such as a ship or a planet isn’t known because she has never tried. If something is falling towards her or being shot towards her, Schuyler can change the trajectory so it misses her.

Summoning: Schuyler can summon ethereal creatures to her side. They come in several different forms and she can control them with just a thought. Whether or not they feel like behaving, she can get them to do tasks and if necessary, take out any threats. They only answer to her and no one else can control them no matter how powerful. When she and her brother were taken from their family by the Aschen and kept apart for months, the creatures became her companions and kept her from completely forgetting who she was even with the physical, psychological, and emotional abuse.

Catapsi: Catapsi allows a trained psychic mind to broadcast passive telepathic static across wide distances. This telepathic static makes it impossible to read auras in the area of effect and as such it is impossible to determine relative levels of power through psychic, magical, or technological means. In addition, those affected by the Catapsi field find their sense of right and wrong diminished or removed entirely, their inhibitions shattered, and their mind highly susceptible to lies and half-truths so long as they originate from the source of the field. Even those with highly structured minds normally immune to psychic interference or those with no conventional mind at all, such as androids, are not safe from the field's effects, though a Psion of sufficient skill can exclude whomever he or she wishes. In short, anyone subjected to the Catapsi field is sure to have their mental defenses eroded away and become pliable to the will of the Cultist.

Character Equipment:

Four gunlike weapons. The GodKiller, Death Penalty, The Executioner, and PewPewPew. Each of these has their own special attributes that help her fight against the monsters, gods, creatures, and anything else that decides to attack her. The Godkiller is by far the largest weapon she carries on her body and it is especially useful on godlike things.

6 ft bullwhip is hooked into the shoulder harness, most of it resting tightly against her back.

6 - silver-plated throwing knives are sporadically placed on her body. These knives are not made of normal material and though the handles are silver plated, the actual blades are made of a magical material that not only gives them a fire-like glow, but allows the blades to dissipate whenever they're not being utilized. The blades can cut through most material that can be found on Tarsus, which makes them really handy to keep around.

Short Swords: Schuyler has armed herself with a pair of short swords that strap onto her forearms. There is nothing special thing about these swords other than being very sharp.

Character History: So very classified.

So begins...

Kianna grimaced at the man's show of respect at the revelation of her status. "There's no need for any of that. I find formalities to be a droll matter. Kianna is more than sufficient."

"And of course," she continued. "I wouldn't expect anything less. There's time enough for decisions to be reached," she explained. "For now, why don't we get you and your people situated, unless you're more comfortable remaining aboard your own ship for the time being. You'll be safer here though, until your ship is capable of travel. Cryo is far from the safest sector of space," she explained.

"Of course... Kianna," Kaz says, somewhat uncertainly. "Staying aboard your vessel would be the best option," he continues with a humbled nod. "Multiple hull breaches and damaged equipment would make for something less than restful sleeping."

"With all due respect, I would like to check on the Captain and our other crew-members, and then perhaps help the Engineering team assess the damages on my ship so that Maria can get some repairs completed as well."

"After everyone is well," he says finally, "I would like to continue this line of conversation."

"Of course. I'll have an escort assigned to you, to help you find your way around the ship," she offered as she rose from her chair and offered a hand to Kaz. "I have some matters that need to be seen to, but we can speak more tonight. I look forward to meeting with your Captain. Schuyler, see that our guest finds everything he needs? And Zaria, if you would accompany me, there's some things I would like to discuss with you."

Schuyler shifted in the chair a little, moving to keep her butt from falling asleep more than it already seemed to be doing. It appeared that the conversation was nearing wrapping up point, and the telepath wasn’t sure how she felt about that. There were tons of questions running through her mind, but she kept them locked away so that she was able to continue studying Kaz without any interruptions. Wrapping a few strands of her crimson locks around her fingers, she kept her visage blank when Kianna introduced herself as the Aschen Empress. Schuyler remembered what the Confessors had done to her and her brother and for a brief second, she drifted into a dark place, but forced the memories into a locked box to deal with never. She wasn’t quite sure why Kianna wanted to send back some of her people back with Kaz when he and his people were ready to go back to where they came from, but she knew better than to question her. So, she did nothing, except continue to study her target who by that time was asking that his Captain and first mate be brought into the talks once they were better.

More talking
 fantastic
Never did get all this diplomatic junk

Well, at least the talking would happen at a later date. That would give her a break and allow her to process everything that had happened thus far. The strangers would be remaining on Kianna’s vessel, which would allow Schuyler to continue to monitor them, so to speak. When instructed to escort Kaz to his crew and around the ships, she just nodded her head, silently sliding to her feet,

“Shall we go then, Kaz?”

"Certainly," Kaz responds, standing and bowing to the three women before Kianna and Zaria begin to leave. Turning to give Schuyler his full attention, he offers his hand and a light smile.

"I believe you introduced yourself as Schuyler Callahan. It is good to meet you. Would you mind bringing me to the medical bay?"

Whether she shook his hand or not, he would go on to say, "You seem somewhat out of place on this ship. If you don't mind my asking, what is it you do here? Aside from helping guests," he adds as a light-hearted joke.

Watching silently as Kianna and Zaria left the two of them alone, Schuyler returned her attention towards Kaz, knowing it was proper to take the hand being held out towards her. Shaking it, she once again nodded that yes, Schuyler was indeed her name. Would she mind taking him to the medical bay? Well, yes, but that wasn’t the point. Smiling brightly, she released his hand after shaking it firmly,

“Sure, Kaz, I would be happy to take you to the medical bay. This way, if you please.” her voice was calm and professional, just like she had been trained.

Leading him out into the hallway, she started down the corridor, allowing her mind to take over as they walked. Nearly pausing when he asked what it was she did on the ship, the telepath frowned a little, glad he could not see her face. Finally turning to face him while still walking, the redhead smiled again and laughed at his joke,

“I do a lot of different things, Kaz. In truth, I do whatever it is Kianna asks of me, such as showing around guests.” It didn’t take the two long to reach the medical bay and she opened the door, motioning for him to head on in.

"I see," Kaz responds, nodding slightly in response; it told him a little, but Schuyler seemed careful not to mention what her actual job was on the ship- it seemed likely she was more than just the Empress' 'whipping girl' as the phrase went.

Stepping into the medical bay, the two of them would see Fe Jones, the green-skinned Zenid, sitting next to the two stretchers on which the Captain, Id Bjorn, and the other survivor Trik, were still unconscious.

Seeing the two walk into the room, Fe stands and walks towards them, a light smile on her face. "Thank you," she says warmly to Schuyler, the tinge of her foreign accent not marring her words much. "Your people have been very accommodating and helpful, for the most part. These facilities are most useful to their recuperation."

If Schuyler were to try to read Fe's thoughts, she would find- in addition to the sensation of overload, that Fe was being somewhat untruthful to the kindness of the local medics.

Following in behind Kaz, Schuyler glanced around with a long yawn. She was seriously growing exhausted and the more she focused in with her abilities, the more tired she seemed to get. Unfortunately, the redhead hadn’t quite managed to figure out a way to do what she needed to do without zapping her energy. Covering her yawn with the back of her hand, she nodded towards the green-skinned female making her way over to the two of them. Regrettably, the other two were still out cold, but hopefully they would wake up soon.

Returning the smile towards the female, Schulyer just nodded at her thanks. Her fingers flexed against her sides as she felt the same sensation as she had back on their ship. Keeping the polite expression upon her visage, she didn’t let on that something was wrong, but the more she tried to read Fe’s thoughts, the odder she felt. Her head was suddenly buzzing and she suddenly remembered why she didn’t drink more than one energy drink, because that was exactly how she felt at that moment. She knew it wasn’t their equipment causing the reaction, so could it be Fe? Filing that notion away to talk to Kianna about, she broke contact after finding that the female was lying about what she had said about the medical staff,

“Well, we try to do our best. Please let me know if there is anything further I can do for you and your crew, miss. If there’s anything not being done, please let me know that too.”

"Thank you," Fe replies warmly- that was sincere at least. Turning to Kaz, he gives her a sobered nod.

"What kind of condition are they in," he asks finally.

Fe's visage diminishes slightly. "Not good," she replies, looking towards them. "Captain Bjorn's internal damage was extensive. Ensign Jones will likely make a recovery, but..." She seemed very doubtful of Bjorn's chances.

It brought a frown to Kaz's face. "Almost makes me wish we had that cloning technology," he replies with a tinge of bitterness. Shaking his head, he disperses the thought and gives Fe a simple smile. "I'll be around, so keep me updated. Is there anything you need?"

Fe shakes her head and gives Kaz a salute- placing a hand over her heart with her fingers splayed out and her thumb in her palm. Kaz returns this, before turning to Schuyler. "Thank you for bringing me here. Is there a Star Deck on this vessel by chance?"

Schuyler nodded with a genuine smile at Fe. Stretching out her arms over her head, she shifted a little to give the two a little bit of privacy, though she was still quite in tune to what was going on. Not so much when it came to Fe because the feeling of being so jittery and so overstimulated was not pleasant to her, but she still made sure to do what had been asked of her by her boss. From what she overheard, things were not going well, especially with their Captain and Schulyer couldn’t help but wonder if maybe the medics weren’t doing all they truly could for the man. Making a second note to find out and make sure Kianna knew of her concerns, Schuyler slid a few fingers through her hair, pushing the locks over her shoulders. She couldn’t imagine having something terrible happen and then possibly losing someone that was close to her and she felt immense empathy for the two standing in her presence,

“A Star Deck? Oh, you mean an observation deck. Sure, right this way, Kaz. Fe, nice to meet you. Ask for Schulyer if you need anything whatsoever, okay?” Walking out of the medical bay, she walked down the corridors, easily making her way to the Observation Deck, which is why he obviously wanted. Keying into the room, she stepped inside and held open the door for him.

"It is good to meet you as well, Ma'am. Sie ma." Fe gives the woman a courteous bow of her head before Schuyler and Kaz leave the medical bay. After they leave, she simply returns to the wounded and closes her eyes, focusing.

"Observation deck, yes," Kaz replies, nodding slightly. "As long as I can see the stars- I have not had much of a chance to see them since we stopped, and I would like to see if there are any constellations I remember." It was perhaps unnecessary to explain his motives, but he wanted to get a feel for what Schuyler might think about it. As such, he left the statement open to conversation.

Once they reach the observation deck, Kaz bows his head to Schuyler as he steps inside; onto the observation deck, which unfortunately doubled as the Bridge. Noisy, bright, and far from secluded, it was unfortunately not what he wanted precisely. But he could see the stars, or the major constellations at least, and that was all that mattered in that moment.

Kaz decidedly doesn't show his disappointment with the location outwardly, instead giving Schuyler a smile and bowing his head once again. "I won't be too long," he says, walking towards one of the windows looking- what he estimated to be- Rimward.

Schuyler stepped in behind Kaz, moving to a corner to give him more privacy. Well, as much as one could get considering the location of the observation deck. If there was another one in the ship, she wasn’t aware of it, but hopefully it would be enough for the male. Crossing her arms against her chest, she studied him while he moved over towards one of the windows after alerting her that he wouldn’t be long. She didn’t really even have to poke around his mind to know that this location disappointed him, but at least he was putting on a brave face about it all. She also found it intriguing that he felt it necessary to explain why he wanted to see the stars,

“Mmm
take your time, Kaz.” She spoke loud enough over the hustle and the bustle in the room, but not loud enough for the whole bridge to hear. As it was, most of them were eyeing the two and she had to shoot them a few looks to stop whatever they were about to say.

Kaz was grateful for Schuyler's protection, such as it was- he would not have been able to perform even this most basic of tasks without an escort he was sure, given some of the looks he had received thus far. It was clear enough to him that most of the crew regarded outsiders with poor taste. He could understand, to a point, what with their Empress being on board.

Stepping up to the window, Kaz looks out for a short time; less than a minute, one would wager. Flickering his eyes across the wall of stars, he squints to try and piece together a more exacting location.

While doing this, he places a hand on his chest, touching something beneath his shirt. Eventually he closes his eyes and concentrates for a few moments. 'I can't feel you anymore,' he thinks to himself. I pray you yet live.

Sighing slightly, he opens his eyes and steps away from the stars before looking back at Schuyler with a neutral expression. "I think I am done here. I don't think there is much more for me to do until your engineering teams report back with our damage assessment. What do you do to speed time on this ship?"

Twirling her long locks around her fingers, something that seemed to be a habit of hers, Schuyler idly stood by while Kaz took a peek at the stars. Wanting to give him the privacy she felt he deserved, the redhead didn’t make it a point to poke around in his mind and listen in on whatever conversation he might have be having internally or externally. That didn’t mean however she didn’t pick up things subconsciously because she most definitely did. She heard his comment and although curiosity took hold, she didn’t want to be rude and inquire further about it.

"I think I am done here. I don't think there is much more for me to do until your engineering teams report back with our damage assessment. What do you do to speed time on this ship?"

Glancing over towards Kaz as he stepped towards her and asked something she wasn’t prepared to answer, Schulyer blinked a few times. The crew that had been nearby snickered at the two of them, though the minute she shifted her gaze towards them, they shut right up. Shrugging impassively, she just smirked before looking back at Kaz. What did she do for fun? Walking over to the door, she opened it back up and stepped outside, waiting for him to join her before answering his question,

“Well, Kaz, to be honest, I usually just hang out with my brother and train. I’m sorry, but I don’t really live a fun life. Oh! I bet you’re hungry? Are you? I know I’m starving. Want to go get some grub?” she ended up quite chipper at the end, her stomach growling even at the thought of food.

"I see," Kaz replies neutrally, once out of the Bridge. He was happy enough to be back in the relatively secluded corridors, but as Schuyler spoke he realized how hungry he was as well- he had been busy since the battle, having had no time to rest in the Warp even.

"Yes actually, I would like to eat. Maybe I could grab some things to bring to the rest of my crew as well, I'm sure they are in a similar state as myself."

He remains mostly quiet on the walk to the mess hall, or whatever they had on the ship, very ponderous and reflective. Something was, perhaps, troubling him- but what that was could not be immediately discerned. Unless one were to assume the obvious, being possibly stranded so far from home.

Schuyler studied Kaz silently without actually looking at him. She didn’t what any of the strangers to know what her abilities were, so she just did it nonchalantly. Glad that he decided that food was a good thing to go eat, she walked with him towards the mess hall, her stomach growled louder. Glancing sideways towards Kaz, she smiled a little and couldn’t help but be pleased that he thought about taking food to his crew,

“Oh, absolutely! We most definitely can take food to your crewmates. I would have for them to be hungry and between you and me, they wouldn’t get it otherwise.” She spoke quiet enough to keep the Aschen from overhearing, though she really didn’t care.

It wasn’t long before they were to the cafeteria and she walked through the door, waiting for him to join her. Luckily, it wasn’t too overly packed and she stepped towards the line, wiggling her nose in the process. She could sense something was bothering him, but once again, didn’t want to ask him personal questions. Milling through the line, she picked out a grilled cheese, frito chips, and a mountain dew before finding a spot to sit down at that had room for him too. After setting down her tray, she moved back to one of the cooks, ordering enough to-go containers to feed all of Kaz’s crew. Returning to her seat, she flopped down and took a huge bite of her sandwich chewing it before pausing to ask him a question,

“So, what did you all do on your ship for fun?”

Though he was not entirely certain about doing so, Kaz chose several objects that looked close to things that his people would make and eat- albeit, all of this was fresh food, as opposed to what they had to work with on their vessel. Regardless he takes just enough for himself and the two conscious crew-mates- mostly starches and fruits it seemed, and sits across from Schuyler.

Her statement regarding the treatment of his crew was concerning, but Kaz decides not to comment on it for the moment. Instead, he looks up in some slight surprise when Schuyler asks what he and his crew did for fun.

"Oh," Kaz replies before finishing off his last bite, "Well, to be honest we did not have much down time. Fighting a two, sometimes three or four front war, we were constantly moving." He pauses, chewing another portion thoughtfully. "I suppose, when we did have time, we would entertain ourselves with the Shigar."

He nods at this, then just about finishes his meal, having scarfed it down most efficiently. "That or tending the rations, or sometimes throwing a sack around." Kaz sounds slightly amused about this last one being a form of entertainment.

Schuyler took another huge bite, chewing it while listening to him explain what they did when they had some down time. It didn’t sound like a lot fun, but then again neither did what she said. Sighing, she finished off her meal and pushed her tray off to the side. Wait, did he say Shigar? What the hell? Blinking a few times, she tilted her head and downed an entire glass of mystery liquid in one single gulp,

“Sorry, did you say Shigar? What is that?” Musing a while longer while waiting for him to finish eating, she chewed on her bottom lip.

“Oh, we have a training room doohickey place where we have weights and other things if that type of thing interests you. We can go there after you give your crew people some food.”

Having waited for Schuyler to finish eating before standing, Kaz finds himself slightly off guard to her question about the Shigar. It had caught him off guard only because he did not truly know how to explain the Shigar. The word itself simply did not have a translation.

While he was thinking of a way to respond however, Schuyler would be able to see his thoughts clearly; that the Shigar was an object that could be tapped into by one or more individuals, and allow said number to traverse some other realm, or something like it.

Having gathered those thoughts himself, Kaz begins grabbing the packages of food to bring back to his crew while he responds. "The Shigar is something like a little computer... sort of like virtual reality, if you are familiar? It is difficult for me to find a proper way to explain it in Basic."

Somewhat shrugging off that line of conversation, he begins to make his way to the exit, but pauses cordially to wait for Schuyler.

"In any case, getting some proper exercise would be good. Our ship was not equipped with anything aside from ship-wide gravity modulation, which is unfortunate unless everyone feels like exerting themselves."
