"Right now our plan is to try to fix Mafsha's K.A.S.T.A. teleportation device so he can reverse the last portal he made. He could then contact the Arch-mage and the Agency for help."

Shael nodded before pulling out a coin purse. He retrieved several gold coins and set them on the table. "Will this cover it?"

Shael perks up his ears at the mention of the word "elementals".

Shael slammed his leather-bound tome closed and sighed. "Evil." he said simply, "Legendary evil... Mythical evil... An evil that few scarcely believe exist. A tale that is used to frighten children around the dinner fire, to keep them from venturing out at night... The Muhari." The air suddenly became cold and silent at the final word.

"To answer this question I will tell you a story... A story about an army of five hundred Aryite soldiers that ventured into the desert on their way to Lionheart Keep. Three days after their departure a courier came to Lion's Mane City, bearing in his arms a single Aryite helmet, stained by blood, that he found deep in the desert far from the roar. He also said that the reinforcements never reached the keep." he said solemnly, "That helmet was the only sign of those five hundred men ever found!"

Shael nods. "What little we know of the Muhari is that they were once a legendary tribe of desert warriors who devoted their entire lives to the study of the art of war. They are infamous for their incredible strength and agility, and for their ability to come in the middle of the night, slaughter entire armies in their sleep, and vanish into the desert... without a trace."

Shael laughed. "Aye, and maybe you could be the first person in a thousand to see a Muhari and live to tell about it?! But jokes aside... You would very likely be treated - if not mistaken - as our own kin in Lion's Mane City. Perhaps if you do come to Kroniktus and join the Aryite military, you might see a glimpse of a Muhari standing on a dune... watching you. Since our main military training grounds is at Lionheart Keep, on the border of Aryidia."

"There is also a university that you could attend..." Shael pointed out, "I am a teacher there."

Shael grunted. "Perhaps so... The University of Alphanius primarily teaches magic, though it teaches other things as well. I specialize in elemental magic."

Shael nodded, "Aye. Most of Aryite magic works on the concept of tapping, channeling, and controlling the vast energies of the universe and elements. The stronger connection we can make, the more powerful our magic becomes. We become circuits - focusing the energies with our will and mind. Like this..." he stretched out his hand toward the counter. The sound of a breeze coursed through the room, and then suddenly an apple leaped into the air. It moved as if captured by a powerful gust that only effected that one object. Shael twitched his fingers slightly, directing the path of the winds, and the fruit flew towards him. He caught it in his paw-hand.

Shael smiled before taking a large bite out of the fruit. Its juices trailed down his long, dark, greying mane. "That's just a small wind too... You should see my cyclones at full strength. However, I specialize more in fire magic."

Shael began to talk to the other Aryite who was still tinkering with his teleporter. He spoke in their native tongue, which resembled a combination between Terran Middle Eastern and African languages.

Shael stopped talking to the other Aryite and looked toward the apparent human that addressed him. "Aye?"

"Elemental?" he raised his eyebrow, "No. I am not personally an elemental... I would be what is sometimes referred to as a battle shaman. I specialize in elemental magic - primarily fire." he said, lifting up his furred paw-hand, and a few small flames rose up from his palm. After a moment, they dissipated, as if extinguished by a strong breeze. "I can channel the powers of the elements, and can even summon a few kinds of elemental spirits. As for your question... I do in fact teach elemental magic, as I am a teacher at the University of Alphanius on my world."

Shael listened closely to the man and remained silent for a moment in thought. "Come, sit." he finally said, "It appears to me that your problem may be that your connection to the elements has diminished from lack of use. Similar to how any other connection slowly degrades with time. Once in a while, you must renew that connection through intense meditation. You must know yourself, for you are the adapter that channels the energy. Your connection will be different than mine, just like our beings - our souls - are unique from each other. You must understand yourself before you can understand your connection - your pathway - into the elements. Understand?"

Shael pointed a finger at him. "You must also have courage in yourself, boy! If you doubt yourself and your abilities, your connection will not be tuned! Fear is like a poison in your soul. It acts like a corrosive - wearing down your connection - and feeds itself. You need to have faith in your abilities. If you doubt, then your connection is lost. It comes with knowing yourself and the extent of your power. You said you once were able to do these things, yes? Well, there is no reason why you would not be able to do it again!"

"You must believe!" he pointed out, "Believe you can do it, and you will! You must remember... Remember how it felt to have the elemental energies coursing through you... Remember the strength of the earth quake through your feet... Remember the graceful yet powerful winds flow through your fingers... Remember the majesty of the sea and the healing rain flow through your body... Remember the warmth of the flame against your skin... and the feral fury of the inferno rage within your blood! Feel the power of the storm clenched in your hands, and the numbing frost against your skin!"

Across from the lion man was a similar creature. His fur was a dark brown with grey laced into it. A long thick brown mane cascaded down his shoulders and back. His body was muscular like the other beside him, but his body seemed withered from age and disuse. Instead of armor, he was clad in crimson red robes with a golden border. Emerald green eyes watched as the other lion man worked on the small contraption. Beside him was a long, black, wooden staff that radiated with glowing red runes.

The older and smaller lion man began speaking to the younger and larger one. He spoke in their native tongue, which resembled a mix between Terran Middle Eastern and African languages.
