Diana was surprised at Vesti's reaction, but rather than let the small girl go on her way she reached out as if to grab the other's shoulder with one of her rather large hands. "Wait..! This is a public place. Please don't go." she assured the other female in a reassuring voice. "But where are your parents..?" she continued on to ask in a mildly concerned tone.
Vesti hesitated, and consitered lieing and saying they were in the city. She sighed though, deciding against lieing. "I don't have any. Where ever they were, they're probally dead." She muttered as her bare feet traced the damp boards of the pier. "I live in an apartment building s little inside the city with some friends." She elaborated quickly.
A slightly muffled sigh came from Diana's upper abdomen, a noise that clearly hadn't come from her mouth. Diana blinked and frowned slightly. "Well... that's not alright. Someone should be taking care of you." she said in a slightly maternally motivated tone, looking Vesti over with a prospective expression on her face. Leave it to a girl to promptly consider taking care of an orphan. Stereotypes aside, that was just how Diana was.
Vesti quickly shook her head. "No, no, I-I'm fine, really. I don't need someone to look after me.." As she gestured with her hands, the girl she was being held by just may notice the glaring white of cloth wrapped around her wrists. Her eyes flicked around the area, a sign she was getting nervous again.
Diana tilted her head slightly. "What do you mean by that...?" she asked, confused. Surely this girl could not be messed up enough to believe that living by oneself was an ideal situation, especially as a child, right? There were all sorts of issues... "What're you afraid of..?" she continued in a gentle tone, trying to gauge what exactly Vesti was so nervous about. To this end, she knelt down slightly to meet the other girl's height.
Vesti quickly bent her head down, hiding her pale face behind her long black hair. Atleast, this was her intent. "I mean I'm..." She paused, sighing. "My friends and I, four of us in all, we.. We're all on our own here. All stumbled into Wing City from one world or another.. Never had reason to go back.. We look after eachother." She finished, folding her hands behind her back.
Diana frowned. She didn't understand the mindset. "...So--What... You don't... /want/ parents?" she asked, kind of confused. She had a hard time picturing herself replying like that. Then again, she'd never been a 13 year old girl.
"It just feels wrong, not helping you at all." she continued, admitting her feelings on the matter.

Vesti signed. "You're real nice.. But.. You really shouldn't be.." She muttered in an almost whisper. "I killed my mother when I was nineteen... She was my fifth human I killed... My dad is probally dead of old age by now.. And cursed my nonexistant soul with his dieing breath.." She swallowed. "I'm... I think I'm almost eighty-five now.." She paused. "Before you freak, I promise you I just ate a few hours ago.." She lifted her head, and a sad smile seperated her lips, showing off her vampire fangs.
Diana just sort of stared at Vesti, a concerned but otherwise rather blank expression on her face. A few moments passed and she just sort of stood up straight. "...You--...You shouldn't say things like that. That's awful--You're just a girl..." she said in an unnerved manner, apparently unable to accept what was said. Vesti flashing her fangs only seemed to draw Diana's attention, though it did not get a response out of her. This was too much for her to accept. This was clearly a little girl in front of her! The notion of her being fully independent let alone those other things was... absurd!
"Well it's true! I'm a vampire, most people run screaming when they find out! Doesn't leave much room for love or friendship." She huffed, dropping her head again. "I've been alone since I was turned. Well.. Until I met some girls here in the city... They don't seem to mind. Then again, one is a flame elemental, one is an angel.. Thing.. And one has major teekenetic powers... So we're all freaks, i guess." She sighed, sitting dow, suddenly very tired.
Diana seemed very disappointed, turning her head briefly. "...I don't know what any of that means." she responded simply. "You look like a little girl to me." she said observantly, in a tone filled with hints of sadness. "Why does being a vampire make you different?" she asked in a semi-curious manner, seemingly having trouble grasping the fine details of how immortality may work for Vesti, or why others might shun vampires.
Taking a deep breath, Visti started slowly, "People shun me because I'm a vampire, and people fear vampires... We've been given such bad repuations because we're... Techincally not alive. If you shot me right now in the heart with a normal iron, lead, or common material, I'd pop up later fine and dandy. They fear that because... Hell, I don't know. They're also afraid of us because.. Well, I drink blood. Human is prefered, but animal is a subsitue.. And.. Sometimes if we're starved enough.. We lose ourselves.. We go mad and start attacking anything, just to get blood. And some, not all, vampires can turn others with just a bite.. I think I have to extange blood for the desise to take effect.." The girl sighed heavily and closed her eyes. "Also, what time is it?" She asked without looking up.
