More then meets the Eye
Apart from being highly intelligent and witty she has quite the sense of humor and can almost always see the light side to a situation. That being said she can often be tactless with her jokes, inserting them at an incorrect and even inappropriate time, which has caused her to have quite a few people angry at her, much to her bewilderment. She is extremely playful too, she likes nothing more then to engage the guys in a roughhousing tournament that would be entirely frowned upon by most of the female race. Amira, however, is almost obsessed with proving that small stature and light weight doesn't make you any less strong. Due to this she trains almost incessantly, stretching her powers to the limits and practicing till she literally keels over from exhaustion. She is quite adept at Tae Kwon Doe and Karate, though she doesn't train as much with these skills so they're quite rusty. It could be said that Amira is vain but this apparent vanity is mostly a cover for her deep seated insecurity about herself. She is in love with the concept of love but is well aware of this failing and does her best to be prickly and un-encouraging to any would-be romantic interests. She is a musical prodigy as well, being especially adept at the piano and playing it as a form of therapy when she gets stressed out.
Training her could be a challenge since she doesn't take very well to having someone attempt to assert their authority over her and she can be very stubborn, digging her heels in like a mule and refusing to comply. Someone who isn't afraid to mete out punishment and has a heavy authority would be needed. If you can earn her respect however, you would find that Amira is ever the willing student and will gladly do as you ask. Yet earning that respect isn't terribly easy.
Power: Ocular powers: Amira is capable of using her eyes to create elaborate illusions in which the target is entrapped. Within her illusions she can alter time and space, such as making one minute feel like ten years. She can stretch out her powers to encompass a group of, as a maximum, ten but the strength and duration of her illusions go down dramatically. This means that she works best in a pair, since she is completely immobilized physically when creating her illusions, with one person physically attacking enemies while she causes them to be physically and mentally exhausted. Her best and most potent illusion is one in which she, over a span of a year within the illusion, kills the target repeatedly. This is both mentally and physically exhausting to the target and they are often completely immobilized after the illusion is completed.
Weaker illusions that can be used on a group are more basic ones, such as making them believe that their movement is limited, or that the air is thick and hazy which limits their ability to see. Either way she is going to find herself with a low energy afterwards where she needs time to recover.
Her martial art skills are enough to help her last for a few moments longer in a pinch but are essentially useless against the much more formidable power of her enemies.
Equipment: Amira doesn't really require any special equipment in order to complete her illusions since all that is needed to put them in effect is eye contact. Still, she always has a pair of brass knuckles with her as a means of heightening her limited physical strength.
When Amira was a baby her family was attacked by Supression Prime after they heard of a child with unusual abilities had been born. Her parents and her managed to escape the slaughter and they quickly went into hiding. Amira was raised by her parents to be somewhat fearless and to shun judgmental people who couldn't see past her ability and to love herself for who she was. Her love for reading caused her to be quite the little scholar and her parents were highly impressed by her sharp wit and keen intellect that she displayed at a very young age.
When Amira was about 16 a tragedy occurred that would turn her life upside down. Her parents had left her with a trusted relative while they risked a short vacation on board a cruise ship, Suppression Prime somehow learned of this and went onto the cruise ship as well, ambushing Amira's parents who, after extensive and unfruitful interrogations, were mercilessly killed.
Amira was forever changed, she developed an intense phobia of water and won't go near it if at all possible. She also began to have extremely vivid nightmares which one day, after talking to the person who had been assigned to care for her, found that she could literally implant her nightmare into their minds, allowing them to re-live the nightmare themselves. Thus began her journey to hone these more negative and useful skills. Originally she had simply used her skills as a means of elaborate and delightful story-telling, a waste of skills as some would claim, though Amira's parents firmly believed that their daughter should never use her powers in a negative way.
