"But if you're so set on going to the Honey Pot, then I'd like to go with you. Alternatively, we could go for a walk or something. I just want to pick this up," he said, holding up the book he'd dropped before.
Mair was embarrassed by her bashful rambling and hoped she wasn't coming off as desperate for friendly conversation as she had felt. She was always doing stupid things like this whenever she was nervous. That, combined with her shyness, was a spell for disaster! And she should know! She'd read about it!
Her words were lost now in her throat like the old Mair she (and frankly everyone) were used to. Just quiet old Mair in her little head. She nodded and smiled slightly.
Will made his purchases and the two began to head outside. There were only a few people she conversed with, Will being one, and there had been an infinitely few number of people who didn't get awkward around her silence. Like right now. But it seemed Will enjoyed that about her. She wasn't bothersome. At least not when she was dowsing a sea full of water at an unsuspecting victim. She had to admit she wanted to have meaningless conversations. Conversations that would drone on and on and wouldn't really have to be going anywhere. She sees that a lot from all the other witches and wizards around her. However, the only person she'd been able to converse with like that was her father. She could tell the other witches like Adeline tried to converse with her, and she'd had small little conversations with Devan. But it always ended up about sports from Adeline (which she was not really an active member of like many of her classmates) or Devan's long explanations of things. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy their company or the company of her fellow Pegasi... it was just that... she couldn't relate. She wanted too, but something inside of her was stopping her from breaking out. Maybe she should join a sport? Mair sighed. Who was she kidding. She wasn't athletic, nor did she really have the brains like Devan. Or Will...
She peered over at him. She wasn't stupid by a long shot... but she was surrounded by so many geniuses. So many athletic stars. And who was she? Someone who always got caught up in little stories and daydreams? She reached up and fiddled with her shorter hair.
"So..." she was going to try to make small talk, but her voice was picked up by the wind and carried away.
