{ Childhood/Family Life }

Persephone's childhood was anything but ordinary.
Between ballet and gymnastic lessons, flute and guitar lessons and further maths and science, little Sephy's life was pretty hectic.
Her wealthy parents didn't want their children to grow up to be like most of the kids on the Upper East Side - Spoilt and arrogant. Instead, they pushed their children as far as they could. Sephy barely got any rest due to all the classes she was taking, and balancing all of her after school activities as well as homework stressed her out incredibly; At the age of just twelve years old, Sephy had mastered all manner of instruments, skipped a grade and had placed first in her ballet class.

And yet, Sephy was no where near being the highest achiever in the family. Her brother, Cornelius - Whom Sephy barely saw - was studying to be a lawyer and on top of earning his law degree, he also had a degree in fine arts. Sephy's older twin sisters, Marcella and Juliet were working on their very own jewellery range at the ages of eighteen and their father is the President of Soung real estate, one of the best real estate companies in the world.
Living up to her families high expectations really put pressure on Samuel Soung and Winifred Soung's youngest daughter, Persephone.
Even now, Sephy finds it hard to be doing what her older siblings were doing at sixteen, currently, Sephy has found a passion of fashion designing and hopes to make a clothing range to show her parents that she's capable of doing everything her siblings have done, and more.

{ High School Career }

Persephone has always been outstanding in High School, academically. Since Freshman year she's been the highest achiever in every class, won multiple awards for her participation in the tennis club, mathletes, swim team, orchestra and glee club. But she has never really lived the High School experience, avoiding parties and gatherings, preferring to stay at home and study, or work on her designs, but something changed this Summer, Sephy realised she's never going to live up to her parent's far too high expectations and she wants to live. To be noticed. Not just be that quiet girl who nobody knows. And she'll use all of her many talents to make sure that she's seen.

{ Good personality traits }

Driven | Ambitious | Creative | Intelligent |Quick Witted.

{ Bad personality traits }

Impatient | Too Trusting | Blunt | Opinionated | Stubborn

{ Personality }

Persephone is very driven by her desire to please her parents.
A desire so strong, it almost entirely controls her. Sephy doesn't want to be the disappointment in the family, but she also doesn't want to just constantly hide behind her elder siblings accomplishments and never have her moment in the spotlight. This has caused her to become an incredibly ambitious person, and yet also very self analytical. If there's something Sephy feels like she could have done better, she tortures herself with hateful thoughts. Of how she's going to ruin everything she's been working for. How her parents, Sephy's father in particular, are never going to see her as an individual. Someone with substance.
She runs from any kind of confrontation. Preferring to keep the peace than make a scene which could potentially endanger her pristine reputation.

There's no doubt that Persephone Soung has style, she knows what's in and what's out, and while she's hardly Constance's top trendsetter, she does run a small beauty blog which recently has been gaining more and more views. Which has really started to boost her confidence in regards to her ability, Sephy truly believes that she's capable of designing her own fashion line whereas before Sephy, as well as her entire family, were skeptical.

However, Persephone isn't exactly what you would call a people person. And due to her lack of social skills and utter stubbornness to change her mind, even if she knows that she's in the wrong, Sephy doesn't have many friends. She is, in fact, an outsider. Despite her parents being ludicrously wealthy and having one of the best homes on the Upper East Side, no one has ever really noticed Sephy. She's just that girl in your math class, or that girl on the tennis team. People can barely remember her name and whilst that used to never faze Sephy, she's started to realise that being successful doesn't just rely on having a brain, you have to actually be able to interact with others and be charismatic, so it is Sephy's goal to become at least noticed, if not popular, this year.

β€’ Fashion - Sephy has recently developed a love for fashion. She has always been rather stylish, only ever seen wearing the hottest designers. But only recently has she started to properly admire fashion and she has even started designing some clothes of her own.
β€’ Excelling - It doesn't matter what it is Sephy is excelling at, she loves the feeling you get from achieving. It might be because she actually gets some acknowledgment from her father every time she excels in a certain activity, or maybe it's the fact that after being compared to her siblings all of her life, Sephy is standing out. Not hiding in her elder siblings shadows. Whatever it is, Sephy loves the feeling.
β€’ Donatella - Sephy's munchkin cat, Donatella. Or Ella as she calls her. Is named after one of Sephy's biggest inspirations, Donatella Versace. There's no other animal Persephone adores more than her beloved Ella. She'd take her everywhere with her if she could.
β€’ Her Blog - The new fashion blog Sephy has recently started running. Whilst is just started out as a simple pastime to help her unwind after her undoubtably hectic day, Sephy's fashion blog
{ Greatest fears }

β€’ Being a disappointment - If there's something that Persephone fears the most, it's disappointing her parents. Sephy wants to succeed and make them proud, and refuses to stay hidden behind her siblings' shadows.
β€’ Flirting - Whilst it's hardly a rational fear, Sephy can't help but be terrified even by the thought of flirting. She gets far too flustered and just generally isn't very good at coping with someone flirting with her.
β€’ Her Blog Failing - Whilst this fear is partially to do with disappointing her parents, Sephy is also so invested in this blog and adores it so much, it would truly break Sephy's heart if all her hard work was for nothing.

{ Parents }

Image
Father | Samuel Jefferson Soung | Forty-Nine | FC: Ken Watanabe
Samuel is often away on business trips. In fact, Sephy can't remember the last time she saw her father for a full day, let alone spent time with him. He's never around and this puts a great strain on their relationship.

Image
Mother | Winifred Persephone Soung | Forty-Seven | FC: Eon Jin Son
Winifred is possibly the only person in her family that Sephy is close to. While she's somewhat friends with most of her family, Sephy's mother is someone she feels like she can really talk to.

{ Siblings }

Image
Brother | Cornelius Samuel Soung | Twenty-Six | FC: Jo In Sung
Sephy barely ever sees Cornelius anymore, he only tends to come around on holidays with his wife and baby who Sephy hardly even knows.

Image
Sister | Marcella Winifred Soung | Twenty-One | FC: Nana
Marcella is Juliet's twin sister. Sephy has always looked up to the twins as they are so creative and successfully managed to bring out a jewellery line. While they're not as close as Sephy would like, Marcella is definitely the twin Sephy is closest to.

Image
Sister | Juliet Hope Soung | Twenty-One | FC: Nana
Even though Marcella and Juliet may be twins, they are definitely very different. While Juliet finds Sephy annoying, Marcella adores her. Therefore, Sephy and Juliet are not very close.

Vincent was as much of a ladies man as Kaitlin expected from her thorough search of his social media profiles over the summer, but she couldn't help but to feel a bit awestruck to be in his presence. He was supposed to be one of the hottest guys at Saint Jude's and now, sitting here in front of him, she could see that he had earned that reputation. He was a picturesque Prince Charming, someone who Kaitlin was sure most girls would drool over. She would have too, had she not been making a strong effort to act cool and collected tonight. She needed to fit in and her awkward, stumbling over her words, self wasn't going to help her do so. She shook his hand and prayed that her skin hadn't turned a shade of bright red when he referenced her as being gorgeous. "I'm Kaitlin,", she said with a quiet laugh before pulling away.

As Vincent began to text someone, another one of the boys, Colin, began to speak. He joked about how Sydney Vale, the party hostess, hadn't invited him to a party until after six months of knowing him and questioned how she had gotten an invitation so quickly. "Oh, I've actually never spoken to her before. Brody Wade sent me a message on Facebook saying that I could come." She was surprised at how everything seemed so formal and thought out here. At home, there were no gold plated invitations or guest lists for parties, and there sure as hell weren't limousines and rented-out night clubs. Parties where she came from took place in someone's basement if their parents were out of town for the night and the invitation was simply a text message or a post on Facebook claiming that there was an open house at whatever address.

Colin's reminder of how exclusive this party was supposed to be worried her, but Brody had insisted that if anyone asked, she could just tell them that Brody said she was invited and there would be no problem. Still, she couldn't help but to be a tad bit nervous as she stepped out of the limousine and saw where they had stopped. It was one of the nicer night clubs in the city and Kaitlin had expected that much, but she didn't expect everything to seem so vibrant. There was a small line formed outside with people giving their names to an over sized man who would either nod his head and allow them in, or shoo them away after he found that their name apparently was not on the list. The few times that the door opened as Kaitlin waited in the line, she caught glimpses of bright flashing lights and good music. There was a lot of energy in the air but she wasn't sure if it was good or bad. However, there wasn't much time to think because within two minutes, John was speaking to the bouncer and she was next in line.

"Name? the bouncer asked when it was her turn. He was large and scary looking and didn't appear to be the type of guy she could charm her way into allowing her in, not like she would have been particularly good at that anyway. Kaitlin stuttered, unsure of what to say. She was now positive that claiming she had received a silly Facebook message from Brody would suffice as an invitation, but suddenly, John stepped back and spoke to the bouncer again.

Image

"This is Vivienne, Vivienne Hudson," he claimed, giving Kaitlin a slight grin when the bouncer turned his attention to the list. John had seen a few minutes earlier that Vivienne had made a post on social media about how she was no longer coming to the party, and since she was such good friends with Sydney, he was sure that her name would be on the list. He did know that Vivienne was a big party-goer herself though, and hoped that this wasn't one of the many bouncers who knew the real Vivenne. Luckily, the line of guests seemed to grow behind them in those few minutes so after checking Vivienne's name off of the list, he waved them both in.

Although it would have been more of Colin's problem if Kaitlin wasn't allowed in, John would have felt bad as well. It was in his character to be a good guy and it would have been hard for him to go into the party if he knew she would have to return home. He didn't have much to say to her though, having never been the best at making small talk so he waited for Colin to be allowed in before walking inside with the two of them.

It took a few minutes of drifting through the different groups of people before he spotted a small group of people in one of the back corners. Had it not been for Bastion's notable appearance, he probably wouldn't have realized who they were, but once he made out Bastion, he knew that was where the weed would be at. "You guys up for smoking?" he asked. He knew that Colin smoked and although he had smoked only a little over an hour ago, he was ready for another hit or two. Besides, if Colin was going to go off to find Jane, John preferred the idea of being in a group of people than alone with Kaitlin.

Kaitlin nodded in agreement to smoking, although she had no plans on actually smoking herself. She was one of the few people in her old town who didn't drink or smoke and although she did want to fit in here, she wasn't ready to change her values in the snap of a finger. She wouldn't mind standing with the group though, at least until she spotted Brody Wade, who was really her only acquaintance besides the three boys she had came with.

After Kaitlin confirmed that she would smoke, John made his way over to the group of people smoking. He greeted them with a smile and offered to throw a five in for his share, but the person who was supplying rejected his offer of money. John shrugged it off and happily helped himself to a few hits of one of the joints. "I heard you were in Spain this summer, man. I was there all summer, you should've hit me up," John said to Bastion, only realizing after a minute that he had forgotten to introduce Kaitlin. "Oh, uh. This is Kaitlin. She's Colin's friend and is going to Constance this year." John then heard his phone beeping and pulled it out to see a text from Sephy.
To: Sephy Soung
I'm here. Smoking in the bck with Bastion and Kaitlin and ppl. Where r u?

Kaitlin offered a small wave to the group and although she considered pulling out her phone and pretending to text someone, she decided to deal with the awkwardness. It would be too easy to just avoid the situation. She needed to be friendly and put herself out there if she wanted to be anyone this year.

Kelley had been at Sydney's party for nearly twenty minutes and still hadn't laid eyes on the hostess herself. It wasn't like she was out searching for her though. The two blondes had grown up together and were nearly inseparable as children, but judging by their relationship now, it would be hard to tell that they could ever tolerate each other. Like all Upper East Siders, though, they had both learned how to put on a nice fake smile and act civil, even if what they were saying under their breaths was less than so. Still, Kelley wasn't the type of girl who obsessed over what most people thought of her so the real reasons for her presence at tonight's party laid mostly in the open bar and the chance to reunite with some of her classmates. Most of them had done so earlier that day at Constance Billard but Kelley had committed to making sure the summer went out with a bang the night before and, as it frequently did, it ended with her head hanging over a toilet until around noon today.

She now sat at one of the club booths with a boy she had met on her way into the party. He claimed that he attended an all boy's private school in the city and knew Sydney from owning a house that neighbored hers in the Hamptons. Kelley allowed him to do the talking, adding in a "mhmm" or "wow, that's cool" every few minutes when it seemed necessary. She wasn't interested in him but the way that he was gliding his hand across her leg indicated that he felt otherwise. She kept her attention on her cell phone screen as he spoke but when she felt his hand ride up her dress, she met his gaze. Rather than shove his hand away from her, she allowed it to linger for a minute, just long enough to have him wrapped around her finger before she spoke. "Would you get me another drink?" she asked, although it came out as more of a demand. She maintained an alluring smile on her face until he disappeared with her empty glass. As soon as he was no longer in sight, she slid out from her seat and headed in the opposite direction of the bar. She had had her fun with that boy, whose name she had now forgotten, and was ready for her next.

Kelley wasn't looking for anyone in particular as she drifted through the club, and honestly was probably looking for a stranger, but when she came across Jake Desai. With a cheeky grin in place, she approached him, only noticing that he was with Persephone Soung and Daphne Peterson once she started speaking. "I can honestly say that this is the last place I'd ever expect to find you- well, all of you, at," she said playfully. She didn't know Persephone very well but couldn't remember seeing her or Daphne at any parties in the past. They didn't seem like the clubbing type and even less of the type to be friends with Sydney, but then again, she wasn't Sydney's favorite person either and she was here as well. "I'm getting you guys fucked up tonight, no questions asked," she continued. If they were as detached from the party world as Kelley suspected them to be, she wanted to make sure that she was the one to break them in and if it happened her way, they'd be blacking out within a few hours. However, she suspected that they, or at least the girls, weren't that type.

It was typical for Kelley to be as wild and obnoxious as she was being tonight, and most people found it hard to tell whether she was drunk or if she was just naturally as audacious as she acted. Tonight it was a mix of both, but she wasn't trying to offend the group by it. In fact, she was glad to have some company. She cocked her head backwards for a second to see if the guys who were smoking earlier still were, and when her suspicion was confirmed, she looked back at the three. "Let's go smoke before all the free weed is gone," she suggested eagerly, although she also considered going to the bar to get another drink, now that her earlier suitor had probably got the message that she was no longer interested.

"Here goes nothing," Jake said, more to himself than to the others, as the trio walked towards the club. After giving their names to the bouncer (some part of him will never get over how excited he was inwardly at that), they were allowed access and once inside, Jake could definitely tell that this was not his normal setting. Jake was a guy meant for corner cafes with low light, spice in the air, and soft music playing while someone recited poetry. He was a music-and-earphones kind of guy because most people didn't always listen to his style of music. However, he received the invitation and didn't want to be stuck constantly sulking over the mundane existence he was granted. He was given this opportunity and while the drunken sex-on-the-floor dancing was not his cup of tea, he would make due. At least, until the party was over.

Just as he was about to turn to the girls and see if either wanted a drink, a familiar voice could be heard over the loud, pulsing music and Jake turned to see Kelley Hadley approaching their group. To this day, it surprised him that she was willing to actually talk to him and was an actually decent person to talk to. While Jake tried not to have presumptions about the more popular students, some things couldn't be helped and it was no secret that either the elites were getting by because their parents had money or because someone else was doing it for them. Granted, Kelley probably did have the latter, but she was also very much intelligent and for that, Jake learned to respect her. Plus, she was pretty fun to be around. Jake grinned wryly at her first comment about their being here.

"Kinda didn't expect to be here myself," he admitted with a small chuckle. That much was true. Even if he was helping Sydney, some part of him still couldn't believe that she was as willing to help him gain some kind of footing as she has thus far. He remembered getting the invitation, putting it down, and then just looking at it for a moment before actually acknowledging that, yes, he was invited to a Sydney Vale party. "Not surprised to see you here, though, Kelley. Behaving?" That much was a joke. Everyone knew that Kelley hardly - if ever - behaved.

As the blonde proceeded to tell them how she was going to pretty much get them loosened up for the night with her own brand of fun and then tried to convince them to get weed, Jake stood, uneasy and with hands in his pockets. To be completely honest, he had only drank a few times before, having realized that after the fourth drink, he was pretty much done for the night. It was a party some time during the summer, a rave actually, and he didn't want that hangover again. He suspected that Daphne would not be up for it either, especially not weed though he could never be sure, and he wasn't sure how Persephone felt about starting the night off. Plus, he was nervous about smoking. Again, something he had never done before and really didn't plan on doing it. Though, if who he was said anything, he would cave if actually pressured. Because I'm a bitch. But, shoving that thought back into his brain, Jake managed a wary smile.

"I don't know about that," he replied, scanning the crowd. Some part of him actually wanted to see Lyric, but he was also looking for either Brody or Bastion. "I'm the designated driver, but...um, do either of you want anything?" The latter part of her speech was directed towards his two companions and Jake glanced at them imploringly.

Even though she felt like it was deserved (or at least wanted to believe that), she was surprised when Sienna apologized to her. Her excuse was weak but Sydney had already decided that she was done with the drama for the night, so she shook her head and said, "let's just forget about it." If Sienna was expecting a mutual apology for her part in the cattiness, she wasn't going to get one, but Sydney did link arms with her and try to move past what had happened. They had faked their friendship for three years; one more night wasn't going to kill them.

After Sienna responded to her comment about the cute guys, Sydney genuinely laughed. "You girls don't give him enough credit! He's not that boring and trust me, if he wasn't good in other ways, I wouldn't be wasting my time. Besides, I'm not the only one who thinks he's cute. You saw that Persephone girl hanging all over him today too," she responded with a roll of her eyes. She wasn't worried about Brody dropping her for Sephy, that didn't even seem like a possible scenario in her mind, but it had definitely bothered her that Sephy had the nerve to throw herself all over him. Their hookup had only started over the summer and hadn't been talked about on Gossip Goddess so she could give Sephy the benefit of the doubt that she simply didn't know about her and Brody, but Sydney didn't think that way. She was used to everyone knowing everything about her, or at least everything that she wanted them to know.

"Jane?" Sydney repeated, now remembering that she had started talking to Jane before spotting Sienna. "She was headed to the bar with Seb Jardine a minute ago... so we should probably deal with that before she gets alcohol poisoning," she said, rolling her eyes. She was used to Sienna being nearly as drunk as Jane, but she was glad that at least so far, she had one somewhat sober friend besides Brody. "Keep an eye on her tonight for me? She's been acting so weird lately and I still haven't gotten much out of her about whatever she did this summer." It was probably bizarre how she and Sienna could go from being on the verge of clawing each other's eyes out to laughing and talking to each other in a few minutes, but Sydney was so used to it by now.

Image

Vincent could barely pay attention to Sienna as she spoke. He hadn't regretted sleeping with Sydney either of the nights that they did but now as he studied Sienna's face, he really did feel bad. He felt bad for hurting her three years ago and doing it again tonight, but he still wasn't sure what he was supposed to do. Sienna didn't want to be with him, or at least her prior hookups with other guys seemed to prove that, but what she did when she stopped talking left Vincent feeling otherwise. It seemed to happen so quickly that even if he wanted to question it, he couldn't. She pulled him towards her and kissed him, and although it had been three years, as he instinctively closed his eyes, he felt the same way he did three years ago.

He wasn't sure how to process what had happened before Sienna disappeared, leaving him only with the realization of how badly he really had screwed up. "Fucking idiot," he cursed at himself once the door closed behind her. Had he not slept with Sydney the month before, he might have been able to swoon Sienna tonight and win her back for good, but now he was going to have to work for it. That wasn't something he minded. A good chase was something that he rarely got since most of the girls he wanted wanted him just as much. He was up for the challenge, especially if it meant more of what he had just experienced with Sienna.

It seemed like an easy plan in the moment, but what was he supposed to do about Sydney? Their hookup wasn't any more emotional than the first one but there was still something there. The spark that they had was nothing like what he had with Sienna, and it was probably just the ninth grade boy in him feeling overwhelmed and overjoyed at the thought of hooking up with the hottest girl in their class. but he wished there was nothing there at all. It would have made things a hell of a lot easier.

After downing the Rum & Coke that he had ordered earlier, Vincent returned downstairs. He wanted to find Sienna and continue where they had just left off but he wasn't going to push it, especially with Sydney probably still wanting to speak with him. Instead, he walked past the bar in search of Colin or John.

Exiting Jake's car, Persephone takes in the club, it was booming with people milling around outside, smoking and laughing as well as the thump of music that could be heard even from outside the building, Sephy was intimidated to say the least.
Giving her name to the bouncer, Sephy can't help but sigh with relief when she's let in, maybe this wasn't a prank after all.

Stepping into the club, Sephy was taken aback by the sheer number of people at the party. There were tonnes of students from Constance and Saint Jude's as well as people from other schools. Pulling her dress up a little at the front, Sephy nods - Assuring herself that tonight would be fun; that was the moment that Kelley Hadley walked over to them.

Persephone's eyes widen as Kelley tells them that she's going to 'get them fucked up tonight'. She had only ever had a couple glasses of champagne at her Brother's wedding and she'd never once even thought about smoking weed. What would her parents say?

"Um," She hesitates, hearing her phone buzz with an incoming text, Sephy quickly skims it, John and Bastion were out the back.
Looking up at Kelley, Sephy nods, "Alright," She says before turning to Jake and Daphne, "John and Bastion are out there." She explains, there was no way that she'd be smoking but Sephy did want to see her friends.

As Sephy headed towards where John told her he would be, Sephy spots Brody. Sending him a smile and a wave before noticing Sydney nearby and quickly turning her head the other way. She didn't want anything like earlier, or worse, to happen again. Especially not tonight.

Seeing John, Sephy grins waltzing over to where he sat with Bastion and a girl Sephy didn't know the name of. She suspected that the girl was either from a different school or new.

"Hey!" Sephy greets John and Bastion, distancing herself slightly from the joint being passed around. She didn't want to risk getting second-hand high either. Sephy was certain her parents would blow a fuse if she came home high.

She then turns to the girl who looked slightly awkward standing with the group and decided to be friendly, "Hello! I'm Sephy." She introduces herself, with a smile.

Normally Kelley wouldn't have taken 'no' for an answer, and she certainly wouldn't have respected Jake's choice not to drink simply because he was the designated driver, but after her experience with driving drunk a month or so before, she condoned it. "Yeah, you better not drink then. I probably had like one drink over the summer, and now I'm not allowed to drive again until I'm twenty-one and I'm going to be spending the rest of eternity stocking books in the fucking library," she said with a roll of her eyes. Of course she was exaggerating. That one drink had been more like six or seven, and she was probably lucky that the worst results of her recklessness were community service and a suspended license.

Sephy had said something to Jake and Daphne that Kelley hadn't been paying attention enough to catch, but the girl soon headed towards the back where the guys were smoking. "Damn, I thought that she would've been harder to convince," she said, surprised and impressed at what she thought was Sephy's eagerness to smoke. Kelley didn't wait for Jake or Daphne, assuming that they would follow behind, as she walked towards the back. Halfway there though, she took a detour when she saw Colin and Vincent standing together. She had seen Vincent a few weeks prior and had seen Colin for just a second when he walked past her booth earlier, but she was eager to say hi to them.

"I'm not used to having to be the one to seek out the guys that I want to talk to, but since you're my cousin," she said, looking at Vincent, "and I've already slept with you," she continued, refocusing her gaze to Colin, "I guess I'll let it slide this time." Both boys appeared to be somewhat troubled but Kelley was the last person who was going to ask about their problems during a party. She came here to have fun, not play therapist to them. "Who's smoking with me?"

When John offered a joint to Kaitlin, she hesitated. She didn't want to smoke and had passed up many opportunities to do so at home. The smell of the marijuana always made her nauseous and what she was even more concerned with right now was that she had no idea how to smoke. She not only had no experience with weed, but with cigarettes either, so she had no idea how long she was supposed to breath in and then exhale and figured that it would be more embarrassing to end up coughing her lungs out than to pass on the offer. "Oh, no thanks," she said, shaking her head. Luckily, no one seemed to take much notice to her and before she had even finished speaking John had passed the joint on to the next person.

As clingy as she felt, Kaitlin had no where else to go but than to stay with John. She couldn't see Brody, or even Vincent or Colin, and even if she did, she didn't think she would have anything more to say to them than she did to John. While she sat idly, listening to the people around her chat about what they did over the summer and in the past together, she felt even more out of place. So much, that she considered getting up and leaving. She had seen how magnificent this Sydney Vale party was and that was a good enough start, she supposed. It had taken a lot of courage to come knowing no-one and it wouldn't be horrible of her to leave now, right? Despite this, there was a voice inside of her head telling her the opposite- that she had come all this way and couldn't leave now as just as much of a nobody as she came as. Just as Colin said, new people didn't get invited to these parties everyday and she needed to embrace her opportunity because it could be the only one she would ever get.

When a girl approached, Kaitlin smiled. A new person, especially another girl, gave her a chance to put herself out there and maybe make a real friend. A new song had just come on and although they were a good distance away from the DJ, the music was muffling what the girl had said. She had caught a bit of it, mostly the "S" and "ey" sounds, and having no other knowledge of other people, assumed that it must have been Sydney. Kaitlin had been sure that Sydney was actually a blonde but she had only seen pictures of her on social media so she wouldn't have been surprised if she had the wrong girl all together, and in the moment, it seemed to make sense that this was Sydney. She was dressed to a T and was coming over to greet them in a way that Kaitlin would imagine a hostess to do, and seemed to know a few of the others she was with.

"Hi!" Kaitlin said, more enthusiastically than she intended. "I'm Kaitlin Kingsley. This is such a cool party, thanks for inviting me!" She knew that it was Brody who had really invited her, not Sydney, and she wasn't even sure if Brody had really invited her since she had to pretend to be Vivienne Hudson to get in, but it seemed like the polite thing to say to the host of the party, or who she thought was the host.

It wasn't at all surprising when Vincent invaded his conversation with Sydney and ordered her drink for her. He wanted to tell him to get lost but didn't want to start a problem, and it would have been unnecessary since Vincent soon walked away. Sydney's attitude seemed to shift a moment after Vincent left, and she demanded that the bartender repeat what he had ordered before something seemed to click in her head. He could tell that something was off but nodded when she asked if he would greet his friends for her. "Yeah, no problem. I'll find you in a little while." He had wanted to hang out with anyway, and definitely preferred that he was the one to greet them so another she didn't lash out at Sephy again.

He set his glass of soda on the counter. He wasn't thirsty and had only ordered something so he wasn't standing empty-handed with Sydney, but he knew his friends wouldn't have a problem with him not drinking. In fact, he was unsure if any of them would be either. Before he could leave the bar to go find them, his class' vice president, Charlie Burns, approached. They engaged in a trivial conversation for a few minutes, talking about plans for this year's events and what they would discuss at their first meeting, before Charlie excused himself to go find his girlfriend. It was a good opportunity for Brody to also go find his friends and within a few minutes he had spotted a few of them in the back corner. As he neared them, he knew that they were smoking, not only by the aroma, but by the people who were standing around. Bastion alone would have been a big enough signal but paired with John and some of the other people they were with, it wouldn't have been hard to figure out that they were smoking. He was definitely surprised to see Sephy in the group but couldn't imagine that she would be smoking. "I've been sent here by our wonderful host to thank you guys for coming," he said with a grin.

He then noticed that Sephy had been talking to Kaitlin, who he had invited last minute without Sydney's permission. "Hey, Kaitlin. I'm glad to see you here." It was a relief to see that she had managed to get in without her name being on the guest list and he hoped with all of the craziness going on, that she wouldn't run into Sydney tonight.

Jake's eyebrows rose when Persephone declared that she was interested and he would have questioned her had she not already begun an explanation before she walked away. He caught on to the last bit of what Kelley said and shook his head. Why am I not surprised? For all her intelligence, Kelley was equally reckless. It definitely gave him whiplash a few times, seeing her actually studying and settled and then seeing how quickly she could switch into party mode. It was an astounding experience and since he was now aware that friends were going to be outside, he was half tempted to follow Sephy and Kelley. However, at the corner of his eye, he noted movement in their general direction and turned his head only to see Lyric approaching.

An inquisitive eyebrow rose when he noted the blonde's demeanor. Already, he can tell that Lyric ingested slightly more than he could handle. His words were somewhat slurred and quieter than Jake normally saw when he was at school, and it probably had something to do with the new song the DJ played. It muffled a lot of sounds. But he also noticed the slight glassiness of Lyric's eyes and the uneasy smile. Jake was mistaking part of what could be perceived as nervousness for intoxication. He cleared his throat nervously before glancing at Daphne.

"Uh, you can...go ahead. I'll catch up a little later," he spoke lowly to the blonde, a little closer to her so that she could actually hear what he said. Turning his attention back to Lyric, he placed a hand on his shoulder. It was a reminder that Lyric was taller, but at that moment, Jake knew none of that was important. He wanted the blonde male off his feet and possibly coherent, so that whatever he wanted to talk about could be dealt with. A flash - a memory - of the last time they had actually been alone flitted through his mind, but Jake shook it away. "Sure, let's go sit down."

Jake led Lyric over to one of the sofas, which was conveniently left empty. He sat down with him and settled into the cushioned seat, eyes lingering over Lyric's form. He had actually never seen Lyric drunk before and it was...interesting, to say the least. On a deeper level, he was slightly hurt. Did Lyric need to get drunk to actually have a conversation with him? The last time they talked - or Lyric even acknowledged his presence - was when they almost kissed and Lyric kicked Jake out with much of an explanation. Sighing, Jake crossed his left leg over his right and crossed his arms over his chest before meeting Lyric's gaze.

"So, umm, what do you want to talk about?"

Sydney knew that Sienna was probably right about Persephone being harmless. Brody had chosen to come here with her tonight, but at the same time, he had also asked her to invite Sephy. He was too nice to have denied Sydney's demand that he come with her tonight, so maybe he really had wanted to come with Sephy but didn't want to ditch her, she supposed. For his sake though, she felt like that better not have been the case. If he wanted to choose that girl, who Sydney had just decided was a loser, over her, he would learn how big of a mistake that was. "You're probably right," Sydney decided. There were moments like these when she actually appreciated being friends with Sienna. She was a good friend, probably a better one than Sydney deserved.

Seb was still standing with Jane when they approached, and like Sienna, Sydney didn't hesitate to interrupt whatever was going on between them. She was still unsure of why Jane and Seb were talking and what they would have to discuss. Seb was a bad boy and Jane was a princess. Their personalities seemed to clash as much as any could, but this morning at school it was apparent that they had some type of connection. Not only had Seb brought his past with Jane into question, but also his with Sienna. They had supposedly had some sort of fun in the past that he was missing, and it didn't take a brain surgeon to infer what that meant. It was something that Sydney would delve deeper into later, at some point when she and Sienna hadn't just decided to be civil.

"I can always count on you to take any black tie event down to, well, just black," she said to Seb, eyeing his outfit. It was a comment that would probably have been taken offensively by most people but Seb was just as good at making witty remarks as she. His attitude was definitely attractive enough to make her disregard his dark fashion sense. "What are you two talking about?" she asked directly, stepping towards them as Sienna draped her arm around Jane.

Colin understood Vincent's reasoning for wanting to leave. Duke University definitely had one of the most elite lacrosse teams in the nation and getting the chance to meet with one of their recruiters was a big deal for any player. Vincent was definitely the best player on Saint Jude's team and probably one of the best in the state, so it wasn't surprising that he was being sought out by a top school. Although Colin envied Vincent for the opportunity, he was still happy for him and nodded at his explanation for leaving. It probably worked to his benefit that Vincent was going, anyway. He wasn't in the mood to hear about how if he had just worn a different outfit or acted less awkward, that Jane would be talking to him instead of Seb.

Kelley joined them before Vincent excused himself and while some people might have found conversing with someone they lost their virginity to to be uncomfortable, it wasn't like that between he and Kelley. She wasn't the type of girl to focus on any negativity or drama and although he knew that she was smarter than most, he sometimes felt like she didn't pick up on the vibes around her. Her comments were usually bold and sometimes offensive, but she never seemed to care. She was definitely different than a lot of her Constance Billard classmates and even more so than the ones who were also as wealthy as she. Colin found her to be easy to talk to, and was now glad that she had the same desire as he to smoke. "I was just heading there now," he said as they neared the circle of people in the back of the club. "I hope you're getting a ride home tonight. I don't know if you'll be lucky enough to look good in two mugshots in a row," he said elbowing her playfully.

There were a few people he expected to see smoking, John and Bastion being among them, and then some who he wouldn't have pictured as being the smoking type, with Persephone Soung and Brody Wade being the most prominent of the them. Kaitlin was standing beside John and because he still felt somewhat guilty for abandoning the two earlier in the evening, he smiled at both of them before finding an empty space on the opposite side of the group. As a joint came their way, he offered it to Kelley first. "You know Jane Lynch and Sebastian Jardine, right?" he asked her casually. "Are they... hooking up or something?" He didn't want to seem overly interested or concerned because at least for now, he wasn't going to resort to asking Kelley to meddle in his attempt to get closer to Jane. She was fairly crazy and didn't trust that she would talk to Jane without making him either seem like an unsocial loser, or an obsessed stalker.

Bastion looks up as a few familiar faces approach the group that he has made himself part of. He gives Colin a sort of nod in acknowledgement, though they aren't particularly close outside of similar habits, and his eyes focus on John as the fellow asks him a question. "Sorry man, I would have, but I didn't realize you were there. Next time, yeah?" he responds lightly, then going on to smile and nod at the new face John presents to him. She looks like she wouldn't be out of place at Constance, blonde hair blue eyes, pretty, etc. He supposes she's from some wealthy family, perhaps an upstart, but doesn't know for sure and doesn't really care. His range of friends should make it clear he is less concerned about class and wealth than some other people who attend the two elite schools. "Nice to meet you. I'm Bastion. Like the game, I guess," he adds, though uncertain as to whether she would know the game he references. A pretty equal amount do and don't, usually.

The group is not left still for much longer, as yet another round of people come up to the corner. This one includes Sephy, Jake, Daphne, and Kelly. He's vaguely confused at the presence of Daphne, to be honest, perhaps having forgotten the response she sent requesting a ride from Jake. Uncertain of her motivations for coming, he dismisses the confusion as he takes another turn at a joint. As the group grows, the time between each pass lengthens. That's fine, he intends to stop before becoming too affected anyway.

Daphne spends the entire exchange relatively quiet, her eyes sliding constantly around the crowd. There is the slightest hint of a smile on her face, perhaps because she is amused. This is the sort of party she would think only existed in overdramatic young adult fiction and flashy TV series. Of course, given the school she attends, the girl oughtn't be surprised when life plays out like the script of an episode of some teen show or another. She is merely thankful to not allow herself to become caught up in it, one of those characters who seem to exist exclusively for misfortune and messy situations. The thought would be worth grimacing at, if she weren't still bordering on a smile.

She did at least have the courtesy to smile slightly more obviously, although what is a clear smile to her might be more of a slight quirk of the lips to others, at the new girl, Kaitlin. She doesn't strike Daphne as overly interesting immediately, but she's willing to accept a person being more than meets the eye. Her fingers are figuratively crossed that this person will be one such girl. This area hardly needs more superficial types, after all.

Bastion is unfazed by Kelly's question about Jane. He considers it briefly, no longer as irritated with her due to the passing of time. "Nah, I don't think so. Haven't spoken with her over the Summer much, but I don't think she has anyone from California. Still, I don't know about clinging onto the idea of being with her. She's not big on scholarship students."
