Her hair is black, the color of ravens, and has always been thick. During middle school and up until she was finished with college, Aaliyah kept the most expensive weave in her hair, giving the illusion of straightened hair that fell to the middle of her back. However, she has no resorted to wearing her own hair out more, which holds a sweet yet nutty and minty scent, and her hair falls typically in soft waves to about medium length.

✦Eʏᴇs✦
Brown with near golden flecks in them.

✧Sᴋɪɴ✧
While Aaliyah can never say that she's never had one blemish or an acne issue, what she can say is that she had a good number of solutions for it, which lends to her now clear, smooth milk-chocolate complexion.

✦Hᴇɪɢʜᴛ & Wᴇɪɢʜᴛ✦

✧Eᴛʜɴɪᴄɪᴛʏ✧
Her father's family is of South African and Swiss descent. The research Leah has done for her birth mother's history leads to Yoruba descent as well, but for all intents purposes, she identifies as African-American.

✦In Depth✦
With her dark skin, dark eyes, and dark hair, it's safe to assume that Aaliyah wouldn't be considered your standard epitome of beauty. At the same time, that is kind of what makes her so damn attractive because her darkness makes her stand out in a society that still chooses to shame her at times. It's not unheard of for people to send her admiring and scathing stares alike when Aaliyah walks by, but with the debonair charm and un-bothered poised quality to her straight posture and fierce stride, it would be hard for anyone to think she heard or felt the silent opinions. Besides, she's heard enough people acknowledge her loveliness to actually find herself unappealing. Her skin, after one bad year of acne, has remained blemish-free and smooth to the touch, her eyes have golden flecks in them that swirl with the dark chocolate of her orbs, her lips are full, and she has a bit of a delicate frame that can be hidden once she slides a pair of her red bottoms of Balenciagas. She may not be the curviest little thing on the block, but her slim hourglass figure is more than what some people can claim to own and she always seems to accentuate it whether she's sliding in a Jovani gown or a Herve Leger dress. Simply put, despite not being (and sometimes, feeling) like the woman everyone wants, there's really no not desiring Aaliyah. Not with the way she carries herself.

XXXNeurotic ✦ Debonair ✧ Vindictive ✦ Callous ✧ Possessive
╚══════════════════════════╝

One look at Aaliyah and it seems as though she has it all figured out from her Gemini 14 salon styled hair and down to her Naomi Yasuda styled nails. And, from that outside perspective and maybe in the eyes of those around her, she actually does have everything toegther. After all, she's a neurotic control freak - an insecure one at that, but that's not what matters. The point is that Aaliyah thrives on appearances - on perfection - and she wouldn't have it any other way. Which is why she has perfected her social skills, resulting in a well-formulated and precise rhetoric coupled with an icy charm and an easy-going smile. So what if her nickname back in Rosey was the Ice Queen and how that has carried over to New York? So what if it seems like she could care less about the plethora of haters and admirers whispering behind her back? The point is that she seems a certain way and that's fine with her. After all, she is in control of the image she has put out there, in control of your opinion of her, and that is all that matters.

Unlike a few of her more emotionally-driven companions and even her sister, Aaliyah has maintained a cool, calm and collected disposition for practically her entire life. She is rarely - if ever - impulsive and all of her actions seem well-planned, and always tend to serve some higher plan even if they happen to have been created at the drop of a hat. She lives by the mentality that as long as she does not give away her emotions, then no one can use said emotions to their own advantage. But make no mistake - she will use yours and she will do so remorselessly and ruthlessly. Call it her being a cold-hearted bitch or whatever you like, but if there's one thing Aaliyah is, it is exact and so are the punishments she dishes out. She has always been a firm believer in "an eye for an eye" and while she might seethe because you said something sneaky in public or even have somehow managed to get the upper hand on her, best believe that the seething is not the end of the situation. Again, control freak here and nothing is over unless Aaliyah herself as ended it. She will be the first to tell you that she is too classy to ever start a fight, but she will damn well finish it and you may not like the results. After all, who would if their social reputation, relationships and possible careers are on the line? Definitely not the person who happened to only slightly angered the daughter of the most powerful woman on Wall Street. Aaliyah is her mother's child, after all, and just like Deborah, she can be downright cutthroat, even towards the ones she loves.

However, just like her mother, there are a few other aspects to her character that are very much similar. For instance, Aaliyah does have the capacity to show mercy and even kindness; a lot of the socialites and rich elites will have you know that she is a very sweet, poised young woman in public. What her family and closest friends will tell you is that she is uncomfortable with emotional situations. They aren't things she can control and more so, she has an innate fear of making a dire mistake. Which is why she seems to be a fan of tough love and blunt honesty towards her friends, despite understanding that at times, a hug is the simplest, and most profound gesture she can offer. And that is simply because she, herself is not used to it. Unlike her siblings, Aaliyah spent most of her childhood away from her family at boarding school and her visits home were less frequent. She learned to guard herself and keep up a wall, even with the ones she loves, simply because she's not used to having to depend on someone else emotionally. Which also has lent to a bout of insecurities that she refuses to acknowledge. Aaliyah spent those years away from home having to learn how not to seem affected by the racism and bigotry hurled her way for earning scores akin to rich kids who looked nothing like herself, learned to find something beautiful within herself when she still doesn't even think she is that attractive sometimes, and kept others at a distance. Because of these fears of inadequacies, a possessiveness towards her loved ones has formed and as much as she tries to deny her jealousy with vehemence or tamper down on these emotional flares, her possessiveness does exist. Especially in lieu of her fiance's infidelities. To some degree, Aaliyah has acknowledged that perfection doesn't actually exist; that doesn't stop her from striving to achieve it, and it's hard to do when she feels like she's simply lacking something - that she's not providing the ones she loves with whatever they need and have to go to someone else for. As alluded to previously, all of this very well stems from her failed relationship with her mother and a loneliness a younger Aaliyah learned to pretend didn't exist. It just sucks that it's close to three decades and she still doesn't know how to change it, even when she pushes those who love her the most away.

✦Lɪᴋᴇs✦
✧ Coming out on top ✧ ↣ Whether it means besting you in court, in the middle of a tennis match or even coming out on top in the bedroom, what needs to be recognized is that Leah likes winning - no, loves it!
✧ Desserts ✧ ↣ Aaliyah loves pie, cake, cobblers and don't even get her started on a good slice of cheesecake and a glass of wine. Her pearly whites would have you fooled, but this girl has a serious sweet tooth and if you ever want her to do you a favor, get her pecan pie. It's not too expensive, but it can get her a lot more pliant than flattery.
✧ Art ✧ ↣ It was a surprise, particularly, to Aaliyah that she could fall in love with producing art just as much as she loved observing it. It goes into her love for history, which is why you might find that she's dropped checks for the sake of art restoration...why she's even done a few restoration pieces of her own.
✧ Traveling ✧ ↣ Anyone who had the amount of money she and her family had at their disposal would love traveling. Aaliyah is usually going somewhere out of the US every month - and not just for simple pleasures either. Unless, of course, you're her fiancée who knows all about her request to get it on at the top of the Eiffel Tower that one time...
✧ History ✧ ↣ Call it a "black" thing, as her mother would say. Another colored person trying to know where they came from under the guise of liking a subject no one likes - except that isn't the case. Leah had always been fascinated by history, by the cultures predating that of her own. She was the one in school who could tell you dates if you knew details, and vice versa. It's helped her in law.

✧Dɪsʟɪᴋᴇs✧
◆ Losing ✦ ↣ She doesn't lose, simple as that. Hates the idea of it, more than anything. Losing means she wasn't good enough and it also means Debby's disappointment. Her own disappointment. And Aaliyah just cannot deal.
✦ Not being in control ✦ ↣ The question really is - when would she ever be out of control? This is the woman who knows she doesn't handle her liquor as well as others and adamantly refuses the harder stuff lest it looks bad on her in public settings. An Aaliyah out of control or feeling as such is an Aaliyah she abstains from being. Especially around the crowd she sticks with.
✦ Gossip columns ✦ ↣ Pesky little imbeciles, if you asked her. Fuckers, when she's pissed and feels no need to worry about impropriety. As much as Aaliyah loves reading about other people's drama and contributing, it still bugs her that there's someone out there she actually can't put a leash on.
✦ Uninteresting cases ✦ ↣ Every lawyer wants a few peaceful cases, the ones that don't take a gazillion years and a shit ton of coffee. And so does Aaliyah - and maybe it's because she spent so long trying to remain poised and sophisticated, but she loves more complicated cases. The ones that get her blood pumping, keeps her interested - so long as the outcome is always the one she desires. Doesn't really know what that says about her.
✦ Her Property Being Disturbed ✦ ↣ When one thinks of property, they think of homes, paintings, vases, etc. Not people - which is how Aaliyah thinks. Her friends, family, lovers - hers. And she hates when others touch them - think that they can steal them. Because then Leah thinks they can too and she would be damned if she wasn't enough for the people she gave so much to.

✧Tᴀʟᴇɴᴛs✧
✦ Getting what she wants ✦ ↣ There has not been a single thing that Aaliyah has wanted that she cannot have and it's not because she thinks she is entitled to everything, and that everyone should just give them to her. But because she can and will work for them, given the conquest. Leah is a verbally facile young woman with the silver tongue to ease your cold, dead Granny into giving her her decrepit soul, and the fire to ward off businessmen who think they can just get away with shit when it comes to her. No is not a word that should be in your vocabulary when it comes to her, not unless you want an enemy.
✦Baking ✦ ↣ Is it hard to believe? Sure, she has had gourmet chefs on deck for years, but this is the girl who gets random pecan pie or peach cobbler cravings. She was bound to pick up a few things, particularly from her mother's mother.
✦ Painting ✦ ↣ Actual dream job before Aaliyah made the official choice career wise that could win her mother's approval? An art restorer at the MET. She was always really good with history, as stayed before, and her appreciation of it stemmed from the art and various past cultures' dependence on it in telling their stories. Leah puts effort into every brush stroke for a painting she recreates, though not many people see it or the art studio in her lavish home.
✦ Spotting & Telling Lies ✦ ↣ Aaliyah's a lawyer. She has to deal with clients trying to omit the truth all of the time. It's not to say that a well-developed rhetoric don't send her for a curve ball. At the same time, she's always been the one you can't just give a lame excuse to. She didn't fall for that crap when she was in school and she's only gotten sharper. At the same time, after learning to figure out everyone else's tells, she has strengthened and hidden her own, resulting in the ability to tell lies or develop stories that not many people can see through lest they know her well enough.

✦Fʟᴀᴡs✦
✧ Vindictive ✧ ↣ It's not that Aaliyah does not govern herself accordingly. You might call it fake, but it's only her being classy enough to not act like she wants to claw your eyes out once she feels as though you have done her wrong. But best believe - she has not forgotten. Some grudges are simply rewarded with petty sneers or even her refusal to acknowledge your existence. Others require more creativity and if there's one thing she does not lack, it's creativity. She also lacks remorse at times, but that's a completely different story.
✧ Pride ✧ ↣ Again, this is the woman who won't truly let loose in public, even with her closest of friends. Aaliyah, even with her fiancee, hates being a vulnerable person, or at least showing said vulnerabilities. It's a learned nature from her mother - at least, the one who raised her - where she has to remain strong and firm, regardless of the feelings that lay dormant.
✧ Insecure ✧ ↣ Of course, her pride would never permit her to admit such a thing, but can anyone blame her? She's spent two decades trying to gain some kind of acknowledgement from the woman she has admired and loved her entire life. She had to literally work and out-bitch a good number of people to get to the position that she is in simply because of the color of her skin. Even her fiancee doesn't see her as good enough. Being considered the queen of New York doesn't mean a thing to her when she feels like she has to exude far more confidence than Leah actually possesses.
✧ Manipulative ✧ ↣ She is a bit ruthless in this sense. Aaliyah learns just the right thing to do and say to get what she wants, even if her machinations aren't always fair or her intentions aren't exactly pure either.

✧Secrets✧
✦ Adopted ✦ ↣ High school was spent with her being absolutely sure of herself and where she wanted to be. Well, maybe not in total absolutes, but she had been fine. So what if her mom was a bit icier with her than her other siblings? Deborah was icy towards everyone and Aaliyah surmised that her treatment was in lieu of her being the eldest. Not because she was the child of her father's past infidelity. It's shaken her to her very core and forces her to push herself harder than she did in high school.
✦ Murder ✦ ↣ This was literally the worst accident in her life and she is still reeling from it. It took three years for her to graduate college and in those three years, she located her birth mother and came to her with questions - the main one being, why was she given up? Somehow, the events that followed their confrontation led to her birth mother's death and that's been weighing heavily on Leah's mind since last month.
✦ Might Have Stronger Feelings For *The Womanizer* ✦ ↣ When this thing started, she never meant for it to last long. Hell, it was only supposed to be that one night, just a way to get back at her then boyfriend for his infidelity. Then it happened again, and again - and it was supposed to only be sex, damnit! She barely even likes him, just likes that he can keep up with her.
✦ Nightmares & Panic Attacks ✦ ↣ Her ears still ring from when the gun went off and sometimes at night, it feels like she's Lady MacBeth trying to wash the blood stains on her hands that aren't there. There have been a good number of nights where Aaliyah can't sleep the entire time, sometimes being drawn to her private art studio to waste the night away there instead of in the recesses of her mind where she sees her dead mother's body twitching on the floor. And it's not that Beau's frequent use of drugs like when she finds residue or just sees him high helps since it leads Aaliyah to having to go gather herself in the bathroom. Or drink. Drinking helps, but it also doesn't.

✦Fᴇᴀʀs✦
✧ Motherhood ✧ ↣ Yes, the control freak is terrified of something she actually can control, but can you blame her. If Leah pretty much is a darker, carbon copy of Debby at times - and she has spent her entire life hating that aspect of her mother - how is she going to be when it comes time to start a family with Beau? What if she's just like Debby in that department and she continues this cycle with her own child?
✧ Being confronted with what happened with Antonia ✧ ↣ Despite how much she hates him, Leah feels bad for causing Antonia's ex-boyfriend to go to jail for her death when it was Aaliyah's fault for not knowing how to use a gun or at least have it drop to the floor. She fears that it could ruin her if it ever got out, and not just with her career, but with her family and friends as well.
✧ Not being good enough ✧ ↣ Debby's small smile during both of Aaliyah's graduations and her nod of approval at her other accomplishments were never enough to make Leah feel like she's done anything good. It was like she had learned to read a word, good for her. And she fears that that is her life. Hell, she fears that will be her life with Beau, and Juliet and even Chad. That they'll all find a better her and then she'll be alone, and she knows what loneliness felt like - feels like. She couldn't live like that, even though she doesn't help herself with pushing people away.
✧ Asphyxiation or not being able to breathe ✧ ↣ It takes about three minutes to suffocate someone, but those three minutes will feel like a lifetime of struggling to the person's whose breathing has been restricted. And for the girl who seriously forgets to breathe in the middle of her panic attacks, something like that is terrifying. Especially for a control freak like Aaliyah. She's also forcing herself to think about painting, to memorize the way her brushstrokes feel or even counting backwards, but it is absolutely nerve-wracking to think that she might not have the control to tamper down on her own breathing and simply die, unable to help herself.

✦Hɪsᴛᴏʀʏ✦
As much as she wishes to change such facts, Aaliyah is not the product of two self-made billionaires, but from the affair of a very rich and spoiled man who thought he could get away with anything and a woman who was reckless enough to think she had nothing to lose. Apparently, she didn't realize who she was dealing with, in terms of her lover's chillingly vindictive wife. You see, Antonia and Christoff had known one another for years, back during their college years when he studied in America after his international boarding school education. They had always been attracted to one another and were bound to address said mutual attraction. However, their timing was off since he was technically married to Deborah Shanks. Deborah was from a well-to-do black bourgeoisie of the Upper East Side. Her family made millions, but not the billions his father's Swiss-based luxury goods outfit, Compagnie Financiere Richemont - which also owned brands such as Cartier , Van Cleef & Arpels, Jaeger-LeCoultre and Montblanc - made. Their families had met when the two were kis and obviously, Chris showed he had a type: strong black women who didn't take shit. He somehow left the latter part of that out because his wife played no games when she discovered his affair and that Antonia was pregnant while battling a cocaine addiction. By that time, Deborah was starting to solidify her place as the leading woman - no, person - on Wall Street with a net worth exceeding one trillion dollars by the time Aaliyah turned ten.

Out of spite, when Antonia went into early labor due to an attempted overdose after Debby basically ended her career with the Ruperts and her husband, Debby took the baby, making Christoff secretly get Antonia to sign over custody and the like. It wasn't hard to convince people that Debby gave birth to her. She had thought she was pregnant nearly six months before, but because of the stress of her husband's infidelity, having to maintain their public images and the fact that she was a black woman on Wall Street dealing with setbacks and bigotry, she suffered a miscarriage and lost her twins. She was sick and stayed home most of the time; it was feasible. And no one questioned a woman whose stare was colder than the crushed ice in their margaritas. As far as Aaliyah was concerned, up until she was seven and the twins were born, she had a relatively great childhood. There was a time where Debby was a lot more affectionate, so Aaliyah never faulted her much when it stopped. She chalked it up to the fact that even though Debby was notably softer towards the children she birthed, it was because she just wasn't affectionate since physical displays and consistent praise wasn't the woman's style. She believed fervently in tough love. And if it hurt, Aaliyah learned to wipe her eyes and suck it up...at least until she was alone. Besides, she wasn't home as often as the other two children because unlike them, she was sought out for and accepted to one of the best private boarding schools in the world and her father's alma mater, Institut Le Rosey in Switzerland. Any interactions with her family was during the holidays and when she had to attend events in New York for appearance's sake.

...editing...

It was after her three year education at the University of San Diego that Aaliyah's quest to find her birth mother came to an end. After all, Antonia had not gone far. New York wasn't that big and Brooklyn had always been an option for her. Perhaps not as luxurious as the apartments she stayed at in her earlier years, but people change and Aaliyah wanted to meet her. Only...to discover the woman was suffering from addiction to cocaine. Unbeknownst to the rest of her family and all of her friends save for one, Aaliyah grudgingly helped her through rehab and fixed up the woman's apartment, with more questions than answers. The two were rather tense through the years, what with Leah going to law school at Columbia, falling in love, and starting her career while Antonia had relapse after relapse. It was exhausting and she honestly had developed far more patience during this stint than through any other situation in her entire life. Except one night - about two months ago - when they were surprisingly getting along, Antonia's ex-boyfriend and supplier came in asking for money. She had turned to him during her relapses and owed money since sex couldn't pay for the amount of smuggling and such he had to do in order to provide her with the goods. Antonia had a gun ready for protection, but Aaliyah managed to pry it off of the woman just before he attacked them both. She had met the man before and he had sworn her violence before, but Aaliyah reminded him that she had the power and influence to send his ass to jail and have him turned into somebody's little bitch if he wanted to try her. Of course, all big talk considering the fact that he was massive and well, she is kinda tiny. It was a bit of a struggle, considering his size, but Aaliyah had never let the weapon go and then the shot rang out. Suffice to say, Antonia was the victim and it was one of the few times in her life, Aaliyah had a momentary breakdown as any person in her position is wont to do. The death was covered up what with said boyfriend being forced to take the fall since Aaliyah has friends in high places, but the entire situation still leaves her wracked with guilt and self-hatred. Debby still looks at her as if she's both hiding something and slightly disappointed in her, her fiancee is a fucking cheater and seriously seems to need the same rehab which is giving her crazy whiplash, and she's probably not truly as happy in her career as she would like...

...and as far as Aaliyah is concerned, her life could not be any more perfect. She has a loving - and she sometimes, really needs to stress the loving part when his infidelities come to bite her in the ass - fiancee whom she cannot wait to marry, loyal best friends, a budding yet already promising career, a glorious wedding to plan, and she even has managed to snag the $60 million penthouse at the Baccarat. So what, what she does behind closed doors with someone who isn't her fiancee? He's done the same. And sure, she loves art and history and cultures, but it isn't like they aren't a part of her life. They just can't be the focal point. Everything is as it should be - perfect. If only she could really convince herself of said perfection. If only these nightmares and indescribable anxieties could go away...

Fly Before You Fall | Cynthia Erivo
I see the way that you look when you hear his name
I see his picture up in your frame
And you refuse to admit you still miss him but it's okay
You're a tower of strength when you're breaking down
But through the wall I can feel your cry
And when it's quiet you're screaming inside
And I break as I hear you
Loud as a bomb
Wanting a shoulder to cry on

I hear you
Tumbling fast
Here and now, you're afraid
Don't you worry
I'll teach you to fly before you fall away

It's in the moments when you're left all on your own
And it hits you from out of nowhere
You try to hide it sometimes unsuccessfully
With a smile that fades quickly

Your resistance to sadness is futile but
You're a fighter, can't stand defeat
You're a magician at hiding the hurt from you
But I see and I hear you
Loud as a bomb
Wanting a shoulder to cry on

I hear you
Tumbling fast
Here and now, you're afraid
Don't be scared
Don't be scared

Cause I hear you
Loud as a bomb
Wanting a shoulder to cry on, I hear you

Tumbling fast
Here and now, you're afraid
Don't you worry
I'll teach you to fly before you fall

Gossip Girl here and as we all sadly know, it is the end of the summer. I know, I know - heartbreaking, right? Back to longer days and nights in the office, homework and let's not even forget the copious amounts of hot coffee and tea we're all going to be sipping on once winter takes a bite out of our asses. But, if you're any of our fine citizens of the Upper East Side, you're probably not worried about such things. In fact, if you are anyone, you would be in The Hamptons where the Shanks are hosting their infamous annual White Party on the lawn of their gorgeous estate. And if you're not, well...then I'll sip on those scrumptious strawberry mimosas and partake in a few macaroons in your honor.

At about thirty minutes past two in the afternoon, every filthy rich Upper East Sider makes their way to one of the most beautifully appointed mansions in Southhampton, about fifteen minutes from the beach when driving. Either way you put it, you know it's going to be breathtaking. And while everyone else is decked in the appropriate white attire for the obviously over-priced event, you all already know that I'm going to be there too. Watching...waiting...and in utter impatience for the delicious events that are sure to unfold. XOXO, Gossip Girl.

"Don't see the big deal, sis," Marcel said into the phone and Aaliyah shut her eyes, pinching the bridge of her nose in frustration and having to ignore the way her Isabel Marant cuff clanked against the device she held up against her ear. She could already feel a headache coming on and it was only three o'clock in the afternoon. The majority of the guests had arrived earlier with a few stragglers coming and going. Under normal circumstances, like when someone else was hosting an event at a gallery or even one that wasn't even important, Aaliyah barely even thought to text either of her siblings to see where they were. If she saw them, she saw them. If she did not, then that was the story and that was fine. However, this was an event their mother was throwing. Meaning, everyone was going to hear Debby's mouth until all of her family members were present. And by everyone, Aaliyah typically meant herself. "Can't you just magically convince her to let it go or something? You're good at that." Aaliyah bristled. It was a good thing she was in her bedroom and not anywhere downstairs where anyone could see her current facial expression.

"Hell no! This is not a box of Lucky Charms, but you better magically teleport yourself here or so help me God, I will magically shove my foot up your ass, Marcel." She hissed into her cell phone. She could hear her brother's eye roll through the phone. "I don't care if you have to convince your flavor of the month that you'd rather dip her in the chocolate fountain on front, be here. Now." She refused to encourage any more of his excuses by ending the call, letting out a frustrated sigh before trying to relax herself enough to return to the guests. This was not even her own event and she was already stressing. Aaliyah had changed her outfit twice before deciding on her Halston Heritage jumpsuit because Debby had made face after face when she saw her daughters' choices. She had had to leave Beau's side when Shailene pulled her aside to say that Debby was furious that Marcel wanted to bail on them for some girl he stole away to California. And suddenly, Aaliyah had to be the one to resolve the issue since Debby couldn't just call her son. Aaliyah shook her head quickly to dispel the negativity, though she could still feel herself brimming with aggravation when she rose from her perch on her childhood bed.

Before heading out, she stopped to check her reflection, styling her hair back into the messy bun from earlier in the morning so that her Jennifer Fisher earrings could be seen better. Sliding her cell back into her Louboutin clutch, she gave herself one more final glance over before heading out, ignoring the servant who asked if everything was alright. No, everything was not alright, but she was here, wasn't she? Wasn't that enough of a reason to not ask that dumb ass question? By the time Aaliyah was back on the first floor, a cordial smile was painted back on her face. In passing, she nodded to a few guests, the sound of her Miu Miu sandals echoing when she reached the outside portico. The spacious lawn of her family's estate was filled with white tables and a sea of white-attired bodies, the flashes of green from the lush grass peeking out amidst the stark color all of the guests wore. Some sported bikinis and swimsuits, others more elegant apparel. It was the one time of the year, other than if someone did a special event, that she had to deal with such an onslaught of the color, and Aaliyah was already annoyed despite the tasteful elegance of the event. The White Party was the one event Debby did not allow any other member of the family to host, which was why it was a big deal that Marcel was not present. No one missed their own mother's party, especially not because they were chasing tail as if they hadn't had a different one three weeks ago.

Her eyes roved over the crowd and she saw a few notable faces, though none of them being the main one she was looking for. A few of her followers nodded in her direction and she only offered a longer gaze before glancing around before she saw a familiar blonde head. Without hesitation, Aaliyah made her way over to Juliet, exhaling loudly when she reached her and looping her arm with the heiress. "Girl, tell me why Marcel's trying to get me killed and I'm not even the one who didn't show up," she immediately complained to the blonde, accepting a cranberry mimosa when it was offered from an approaching server.

The White Party, an annual shindig where those of good status and wealth would congregate and gossip about each other and diss those of lesser status and wealth. Talk of business, vacations, scandals mixed with copious amounts of liquor was always a good time, well it would have been for Brynn if not for one little detail. The hosts. Brynn's hatred for the Shanks was well known. Aaliyah was what some would call an arch enemy of sorts. Ever since she slept with the Queen Bee's so-called Prince Charming, the girl couldn't seem to get her head out of her ass when around Brynn. Her family, by association, was also in Brynn's long book of names of the people she wanted to pistol whip. Luckily, Beau had ended up on the list of people Brynn din't want to maim. Despite all this though, her family was still forcing her to come. She just hoped that it didn't get disastrous.

Just as her families limo pulled up to the party she received Erin's message. The thought of the girl brought a smile to her lips. Ah yes, one of the few reasons the party might be okay. Erin was one of the people Brynn held dear, and her bubbly personality lured her in. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if she could stay away from her enemies and just chill with the few people she was fond of.

To: Erin
Just pulled up hun. Not excited for this at all. Fucking Shanks. Where did they get that last name anyways... Prison? Anyways, I'll find you. You'll be the one in white, right?

Brynn was full of sass and sarcasm, but for Erin it was all in good jest. As she hit send, the driver pulled open her door and Brynn slid out. She wore a beautiful white Prada dress that hugged her curves in all the right places and had gorgeous detailing of golden studs and frill on the sleeves. Topped with a black belt (as a bit of rebellion to the whole 'white' theme) she was ready. Now she just had to find her friend. She made sure to scoop up a mimosa from a nearby waitor on the way.

Aaliyah was clearly a mirror image of her mother, in terms of being able to throw a flawless event. It wasn't like Juliet had not attended this party countless times in the past years, but every time that she showed up at the annual white party, she was impressed at Debby's party planning skills. Everything was perfect, and no one would expect anything less of the a Shanks. Juliet had very reluctantly come with her mother and her "boyfriend", who happened to be Teegan's father. She would deny it being as completely immature as it was, but Juliet disliked the man for a few reasons, but mostly because of who his daughter was. Ask Juliet why she disliked Teegan so much, and she really wouldn't be able to give you a solid answer. One minute she would reason that she was a horrible singer who was destined to be a one hit wonder, and the next, because she was a jealous slut. Really, though, was it her fault that Teegan's ex-boyfriend was obsessed with her? It was Juliet who had slept with him first, so if anyone had a right to be petty, shouldn't it have been her? At this point, she would just scoff and tell you that the slut wasn't worth her time, but at the same time, wouldn't mind tossing a few jabs in before and after telling you that she wasn't going to waste her precious time talking about her. Understandably, though, Teegan's father was the last person that she wanted her mother to be dating, and the fact that it meant that she had to occasionally spend time with Teegan was a big reason for it.

When Aaliyah had found her, Juliet had been (barely) involved in a conversation with some acquaintances. She didn't find the guy talking to be half as amusing as he thought himself to be, so when she spotted her friend headed towards her, she easily separated herself from the group. "You're always stressing about something, Leah! This is like, the official last party of the summer and I refuse to let you spend the afternoon stressed about something you can't even control!" It was probably easier for Juliet to say and think than it was for Aaliyah, though. She was aware of how strict Leah's mother was, or at least, strict was what it seemed like to Juliet. Even if that was true, it was still hard for her to grasp that maybe it was possible that Aaliyah strove for greatness not because she was forced to by her parents, but because she actually wanted, personally, to achieve those things. She knew that Aaliyah was a perfectionist (that kind of went without saying), but she felt like some of her need to want to be the best had to come because her parents had sky high expectations for her. Luckily for Juliet, she didn't have to worry about that. Or so it had seemed lucky for a while. Now, there were times when she almost wished that her parents had pushed her into something. Be it a sport, or a musical interest, or academics, or some other hobby, she wished that she was really good at something. Something with the potential for a future, and something with the potential to support herself. Modeling was fun and it did make her money, but it wasn't something that she took seriously. It was hard to, when like everything else in her like, if her father hadn't had connections in the industry, she never would have gotten involved in it. Whether she really wanted it or not, Juliet was at a point in her life where she needed something that was her own. Not a job where she could never be fired because her dad wrote everyone's check. Not even having a vague idea of what she wanted to do with her life made that difficult, and maybe a bit ironically, knowing that she was set for life to an extent where she didn't have to do anything made it more difficult too.

She sipped the lemon water in her hand, tempted to grab a mimosa when Aaliyah took one from a passing server. It was unusual, if not absurd, to see Juliet turn down a drink, but she was still nursing a hangover from the night before, and her morning filled with yoga and Erin's never ending chatter had not done her aching head any good. She would certainly pick up an alcoholic beverage within the next few minutes, but she was hoping her Advil would kick in first. If not, she would treat the ailment with alcohol. Looking around, she picked Erin out, only a few yards away. What brought a smile to her face, brought it away just as quickly, when she noticed the girl standing beside her. "Oh my God, why did you let your mom invite her family?" She said, referring to Brynn. In typical Juliet filter-less fashion, her followup question was no better, being, "Where's Beau?"

Teegan stared at her ceiling. Her body unmoving and her breathing labored. In a few moments she needs to start getting ready for The Shanks party. She had gotten an invitation. At first she thought it was to be entertainment, but it seems like they honestly want her to attend. Teegan eagerly accepted the invitation and almost instantly regretted it. She figured out who was invited and has been trying to find ways to get out of it. But its hard to get out of a very important party. This is a career move for her. Despite all the people that would be there. Juliet being one of them. A scowl came to her lips at the thought of the pretentious blonde. A spoiled princess who never did anything on her own. Despite all the money she has, Teegan work ten times harder and earned way more. Just the idea of seeing the bitch was making it hard for her to want to attend. Turning her head to the left she saw her producer putting his clothes back on. "You can't be late for this party Teegan." he mumbled to her.

She rolled her eyes and pulled the blanket over her face. He sounded like her father. Her father had not failed to text her hours early to say that he was attending the party with his new 'girlfriend'. His new girlfriend was the bitch's mother of course. Which only added to the hatred she held for the blonde. "I know. I know. You sound like a broken record, Michael." She exclaimed, her voice muffled by the covers. "I have to repeat myself when you don't seem to be listening. Get out of bed." Michael turned around and yanked blankets from her hands. He exposed half of her naked body to the cold air. Getting dressed was the last thing on her mind right now. Especially with her producer's eyes roaming her body. "I can't get dressed with you staring at me." Teegan wrapped her arms around her own body. "Besides. Don't you need to get back to Mrs. Lyles." she teased. They were both attending the party. Michael nodded and grabbed his shirt from the left side of her bed. Quickly leaning down and planting a kiss on her lips, her grabbed the rest of his things he headed out of her bedroom. "Get dressed Hansley." he said right before he shut the front door.

Her chocolate hued eyes glanced at the clock. She had and hour and half to get dressed and get to the party. A sigh escaped her and she finally pushed herself off of the bed. She dashed into the bathroom and started cleaning herself up. She smelled like sex and rum initially and now she smelled like tranquility and grapefruit. A towel wrapped around her waist and she did her hair and makeup. Making sure each eyebrow was even, she determined her makeup was good enough. She put on her matching bra and underwear set and then squeezed herself into the white dress. Gripping the sides of her dress, she pulled up the bottom and walked towards her silver heels. The strap was secure and then she stood before a body mirror. She looked decent for pulling this together in about forty-five minutes. She smiled proudly at herself and then she grabbed her phone. Teegan phoned for her driver.

Within twenty minutes she arrived at the estate. Many people had already arrived. There was really one person that she was looking for. She was honestly hoping that the blonde bimbo would not be with her father. Finally she spotted him with his girlfriend. Juliet was just a couple steps away talking to the hosts daughter. Teegan grabbed a glass of champagne on her way towards her father. She smiled brightly at him. "Hi daddy." she said. Her father leaned down and kissed her cheek. "Hello Teegan. You looked lovely." he responded. Her smile brightened. Teegan smiled politely at his girlfriend, but did not say anything to her. Just an older version of the spoiled brat. "I have to mingle. Michael said. I will talk to you later." she assured her father.

The singer songwriter, sipping her champagne enjoy the aesthetic of the party. She talked to be people that she did know and people that she did not know. She was very polite. And she was actually happy not to have run into Gabriel yet. He does not seem to be here yet. Teegan did not want to watch him follow around Juliet like some love sick puppy. Not when she would rather he follow her around. And Edward has yet to be found. Another relief. She did not want to deal with someone she was using as rebound. At least not right now. Maybe later tonight. After a couple more glasses of champagne.

Beau lingered through the halls of large Hampton estate owned by the Shanks. His left hand tucked deep in his pant pocket while his right hand held loosely to a short glass of whiskey on the rocks. He sipped with every few steps, wishing to be anywhere other than this party. Beau didn’t mind being with his fiancée’s family, he just wouldn’t consider this much of a party without a good DJ, a line of coke, and strobing lights. He let out an exasperate sigh and continued his walk through the house, taking the halls that would lead him outside to where everyone else would be. In his mind, Aaliyah’s voice played like a broken record. “Please watch your intake today. We don’t want a repeat of last year. Just…don’t get too boozy too early.” He rolled his eyes at the thought. I can handle my liquor, woman. Beau thought to himself – of course, he would never utter those words to Leah – he knew better than to speak to her like that. Beau took a sip again of his whiskey. He stood now in the doorway, leading outdoors. He looked on as the guests mingled, smiled, and laughed with each other as though they were all great friends. They’re all bloody fakes, Beau thought. None of these people even like each other. All just putting on a show for each other. With yet another exasperated sigh, Beau stepped down from the doorway and outside where the party actually was. He smiled and nodded towards people who noticed and acknowledged him. With every few steps he’d throw out a ‘Hello’ or a ‘Mr.____, how’s the business?’ or a ‘You look wonderful.’ Beau had made this event just as much his as it was the Shanks’. Since he was running for office, he knew the mingling he’d do today would certainly help him in his election. He walked around to every big name he knew, sweet talking them into believing he was the best candidate, that he was a great person, convincing them that he had nothing to hide and they had everything to gain from him.

Lies spewed out of Beau’s mouth, and before not too long, he grew tired of keeping up the façade. Beau had his drink reordered twice. His third whiskey drink touched his lips and a soft buzz rang in Beau’s mind. After mingling with several people, he found Leah across the backyard talking to Juliet. He graciously excused himself from current conversations and began his walk across the yard to her. As he walked across the lawn, he could see his friend and distant memory of more standing with Erin. Beau smiled, winked and raised his glass in welcome to Brynn. He didn’t stop to talk to her, but rather kept walking until he reached Leah. He politely interrupted her conversation, wrapped an arm around Leah’s waist and kissed her cheek. “Love, all right?” Beau’s English accent reigning heavily on every word he spoke. The English never really used the American phrase ‘how are you’ but rather asked if everything was alright, it was their way of greeting others. He then turned his attention to her friend, "Juliet. All right?" he said to her with a smile. He turned to speak to Leah as he sipped on his drink. "Posh party love, where's mum? She's thrown a lovely gathering." Beau hated being here, but he wasn't going to let Leah know that.

Aaliyah chuckled lightly at Juliet's explanation that she basically needed to relax, which was a lot easier said than done considering how her mother was. Even if Juliet herself would walk up to Deborah Shanks and declare that the event was the most flawless of all of her annual parties, Debby would still find the most minuscule thing to be upset about. There wasn't a white chocolate fountain close to the regular milk chocolate fountain, she would complain. One of these dumb bitches who obviously don't know how to read wore egg shell, she would say. Fix your hair - nothing ever really signified absolute perfection, not unless everyone was dead and Debby was able to control every aspect of their corpses. And since that couldn't happen - well, Aaliyah focused on the fact that despite the guests that were present and her brother needing to be on the way before she had to hear about it, she was grateful for Juliet's presence.

"Okay, okay. I'll try," she replied with a playful smirk, peering over the blonde's shoulder at the male she had just been talking to. One of Leah's eyebrows rose in question when she turned her face back to Juliet. "I'm guessing Kellan Lutz wasn't your type?" She inquired and sipped on her mimosa, eyes returning to the crowd as she wondered where her fiance might have disappeared to. She knew that her earlier request for him to behave was a bit condescending, but Aaliyah couldn't help it when he gave her every reason not to trust his public antics. Was Beau suave? Debonair? Yes and double yes. However, neither of those adjectives meant a goddamn thing once had a few drinks and whatever other discombobulating substance he was privy to in his system. It made her think about Ed, though she refused to ask Juliet about him. She kept both the friendship aspect and the not-so-friendly aspect of their relationship from her best friend, even when she actually wanted to spill. Besides, there were some things Aaliyah wanted to keep to herself and Ed was one of them.

It was only a few seconds later that Aaliyah was shaken out of he reverie. Her gaze fell on Erin and Brynn, neither of whom actually impressed or managed to sustain Aaliyah's attention long enough for her gaze not to be considered a passing glance. Erin just did nothing for Aaliyah. She did not intimidate her nor did she actually serve as competition. Obviously, no matter how amazing the bitch might have thought she was or even how great Juliet claimed she was, there had to be something wrong with her if mostly every girl their age in the Upper East Side looked upon her with abhorrence. And Brynn was just the slut of Manhattan. Not even her family's money could save her from going down in history as such. But still, something vile rose at the back of Aaliyah's throat at the thought of the skank and Juliet's follow-up question made her eyes roll with contempt as she took another sip of her mimosa. "Tightening his chastity belt, if he knows what's good for him," she muttered coldly, tensing for a moment when an arm wrapped around her waist. A second later and lips were pressed against her skin and Aaliyah finally recognized the light stubble against her cheek for she smiled and relaxed in Beau's arms, fighting the impulse to give Brynn a stare that would remind the bitch that he was here and not with her trashy ass. She bit back the frown in favor of a smiling nod when Beau inquired of her well-being and her gaze remained on him even when he turned to Juliet.

Say what you will about Aaliyah - that she is some kind of ice queen or anything of that nature. The point was that she did love Beau, a lot more than most people gave her credit. The hardest part of it all was that, and it honestly was not fair to herself or him, she was not sure if she was in love with him. Giving Beau up meant losing and she would rather he do something than ever have to concede first. She would be damned if that happened, not after all the work she has put in to maintain their public image as one of the best prime couples of the whole Manhattan area. However - Aaliyah stopped and her face turned expressionless because Beau was questioning her again, so she turned her face back to the crowd for a moment. "It is, isn't it?" She replied on a cheery tone before meeting his gaze, smile returned and any trace of her former impassivity gone. "She should be in the gardens. A few of her associates arrived when I went upstairs and I heard her gushing about it, so they're probably still over there."

There was little time for Juliet to respond to Aaliyah, with anything more than a surprised laugh at her comment, before the topic of their conversation appeared. It was hard for her to like Beau after she found out that he had been unfaithful towards Aaliyah. She, of course, was biased, because Aayliah was her best friend, but she thought Beau was a jerk. One who had grown too cocky, crossed a line, and needed a reality check. She had never been extraordinarily close to Beau, but in the beginning of Aaliyah's relationship with him, Juliet had supported it. Beau was an attractive guy, had an accent that could woo any girl, and seemed fun to be around. Back then, she couldn't have produced a reason for why Aaliyah shouldn't date him, but now, she could come up with an infinite amount of them. However, it was easy for Juliet to insist that her friend needed to leave him immediately because she had never been in a real, long term relationship herself. She didn't really know what it was like to fully invest yourself in someone, and how life-altering and traumatic it could be to go from being engaged to someone, to never speaking to them again. Maybe it was because she saw Aaliyah as being such a strong female though, that she thought it was necessary, or just to be expected, too. She had just never thought of Aaliyah as the kind of girl who would allow someone to cheat on her, and still remain in a relationship with them. Had Juliet known Leah's little secret, about her vengeful affair too, maybe all of this would have been more understandable. For now, though, Beau had been crossed off her good list, and she still felt like he needed to be cut out of Leah's life, no matter how reassuring she tried to act, about having it under control.

"Mhmm," she hummed in response to his question, a forced smile upon her face as she looked from Aaliyah, to Beau, and then to his glass, and down to her own. Her plan to drink water for a while was a short lived one because now, she was ready to scout out the next waiter for an alcoholic beverage. Preferably one with a very high percent of alcohol content. Erin was still standing with Brynn which meant that she couldn't scurry over to the other blonde, who was always good about entertaining Juliet whenever she needed someone to talk to. Brynn was even worse than Beau was, in her opinion. They had both committed the same offense, and Beau's technically should have been seen in a worse light, since he was the one who owed Leah his loyalty, but Leah still liked Beau (for some reason that was not understood by Juliet), so she would deal with him. Brynn, on the other hand, was so much easier to pin as the main enemy for the entire affair, so it was easy to look at her with a disgusted scowl every time she came into her line of vision. Why Erin chose to share an apartment with that girl, who was probably a host to a million STDs, was a question that still perplexed Juliet. If she truly thought of Erin as a best friend, she would have just extended an invite for her to move into her apartment, just to get her away from that filth, but Juliet didn't care that much. She liked Erin because she felt like she was similar to her, at least in terms of their upbringing and childhood, but they weren't incredibly close. Maybe ten years ago, but not now. "Well, let me leave you two... lovebirds... be," she said, purposely not even attempting to hide her discomfort at the "lovebirds" title, or the way her nose just slightly scrunched in distaste as she said it. Juliet had never been great at hiding her feelings or thoughts, no matter how inappropriate or unwelcoming they could be in the moment. "There is a mimosa calling my name... somewhere over there," she continued, taking a step away before turning back with a playful grin to say, "Don't miss me too much," to Aaliyah (and Aaliyah only), blowing her a kiss, and continuing off. She wanted to hang out with her girl, but not with Beau there. Maybe that was one more reason to add to the book for why she didn't like Beau. Having a best friend who was engaged, or even when it had only just been a serious relationship, meant less girl time. Girl's nights outs were swapped for date nights, and though Aaliyah was usually more responsible than she, Juliet still liked to be dramatic and act like she had lost a significant partner for getting nearly-blackout drunk while out "scouting" for cute guys at clubs. Beau was annoying an unnecessary, and if he wasn't the Prince Charming he had been when they had first met him, why was he still here?

Tension sat in the air as Beau stood with Leah and Juliet. It was as though Satan himself stood behind Beau, lightly blowing cold air on the nape of his neck. The discomfort wasn’t something that Beau wasn’t used to by now. Girls talk, Beau was aware of that. He was even more aware that Leah knew of his past mistakes, long before he ever admitted them, and had let Juliet know of the disgusting antics Beau was up to in his free time. Beau also knew that once his secret was out to the Leah’s closest friend, he’d no longer be the charming young lad from England he used to be. No. Now he’s the rubbish that Leah should get rid of but keeps around for someone’s sake. Whatever. To Beau it was all the same. He couldn’t care less what her friends thought of him as long as they all kept their mouths shut about his business and let him go on his merry way. Essentially, what Leah was currently doing about the situation. After all, it seemed to work for the both of them. As Juliet left their side, Beau rolled his eyes to her abrasive valediction. Beau turned his head to a departing Juliet and spit his out farewell at her, “Cheerio, love.” Beau’s eyes may have well rolled back into his head with the attitude that came out with the short sentence. There was no kindness left between Juliet and Beau as there once had been. It only bothered Beau when she acted as childish as she did. Otherwise, it meant nothing to him.

Beau’s eyes floated around the vicinity. ”Love, tell me something. Will she ever pull her head from her arse?” Beau’s lips touched his glass but shortly realized he had been running on empty again. He signaled for another and set his empty glass down on a passing waiter’s tray. Beau’s eyes didn’t mean Leah’s as he already knew she was probably making a face or was getting ready to comment about his intake. How many was that? She’d ask and Beau would have to tell her to cool it before telling her he was quickly moving onto his third or fourth drink. ”I’m going to mingle, babe. I’m sure there’s someone here who’s ass I can kiss to put me at the top of the ballot. I’ll catch you in a bit.” Beau kissed Leah quickly and moved. As he moved through the yard, he passed Juliet. He stood by her for a short second while he waited for the waiter to meet him with his drink. “Get your nose out of my business now, eh?” Beau spoke with a false smile slathered to his lips as though cameras were constantly watching his every move, waiting for him to mess up. “My life’s got nothing to do with you so move along, ight?” Beau smiled and nodded to passing guests, took the drink that was being presented to him by a server and without giving Juliet enough time to make a departing comment, walked off.

Sipping on his drink in between steps, Beau went to the one place he probably shouldn’t have. He saw Brynn and Erin from a distance and he was getting tired of the snobby, posh people his mother-in-law to-be had invited. A light stroll with his hand in his pocket sent him straight into Brynn’s arms. “Ladies,” he said with a smile on his face as he double kissed both of their cheeks. “I hope you’re enjoying this party as much as I am?” He said jokingly, raising his glass to them with a light chuckle. Beau’s eyes fell on the rest of the party. From a distance, he could see Leah, Juliet and a few guys, one of which was Edward, which Beau was not particularly fond of and the other was Gabe. He scowled at the back of their heads before turning back to Erin and Brynn. He noticed Brynn’s hand held onto a lemonade and his eyebrow raised. “B, dear, that’s no way to get through one of these shit-fests. You need one of these.” He said pointing to his drink in hand. Beau turned to a waiter, raising his hand to get their attention.

Brynn almost winced when Erin quickly picked up on her decision. Of course she would though, she was one of Brynn's best friends. She tried to think of an excuse, but the server handed her the drink and whisked away before she could say anything. And just when something was formulating in Brynn's mind, a kiss was placed on her cheek from none other then Beau. She smiled, though all the while her stomach felt queasy at the thought that her babies daddy was right beside her.

"Listen you two, we all know I love to drink. We also all know that this party is going to blow massive herpes infested balls... But I need to stay focused. If Aaliyah tries to pull any shit on me, I need to be ready to knock a bitch out." She said as an excuse. Though part of it was true. Her and Aaliyah had a past of sabotage. They were arch enemies of course. While Erin may be past friends with Juliet, Brynn didn't trust her or Aaliyah not to start anything tonight. If Brynn got into trouble her parents would surely kill her.

Brynn hummed, and to pull the attention away from her lack of drinking, she smirked and grabbed Beau and Erin. "I'm sick of these snobs. Why don't we go do something fun. No one would notice if we escaped, right?" She had been hoping to see some other people but to be honest, even though she just arrived, anymore of the judging stares and she would throat punch someone.

Who the fuck does he think he is?! Juliet could not even comprehend that Beau had actually had the audacity to come at her like that. She had thought that she was being unnecessarily polite by even entertaining his presence minutes before. Did he not realize that she knew that he was a cheating pig, who had hurt her best friend? Did he think that his actions were somehow not severe enough to be cut out of Aaliyah's life completely, and kicked out of the Upper East Side's exclusive circle? He had gotten incredibly lucky that he had brainwashed Aaliyah enough before cheating on her, that she decided to give him another chance after the atrocity he committed with Brynn, so apparently, that had went to his head. He really thought that it was "his" business, and though in reality, it was, Juliet didn't see it that way. In her mind, he had basically committed a crime against humanity, and she was protective (and equally self-absorbed and dramatic) enough to act as if she had as much of a right as Aaliyah to hate him. Between her feeling like his act of infidelity as a personal attack on her, and then him coming at her when she felt like she hadn't even done anything wrong moment before, it was safe to say that she was sure that Aaliyah would come to her senses and call the wedding off when she relayed this encounter back to her best friend. She would be all talk in a few minutes, but Beau had caught her mid-sip of her mimosa, and had left her in a moment of shock before she could conjure a cutting response to spit back at him.

Him leaving before she had a chance to combat his criticism left her feeling even more heated, enough so that she paused sipping her mimosa and instead, spun around as he headed off, and stormed off to search for Aaliyah. Her luck led her to not only not find Leah where she had left her minutes before, but to have her pursuit interrupted by none other than Teegan, who was one of the last people she wanted to see in that moment, or ever. "Funny joke. I would rather be murdered than be photographed with you," Juliet responded quickly, a roll of her eyes indicating how silly she thought it was that Teegan would even think she would consider such a request. It wasn't surprising that their parents, and her mother in particular, were probably pushing for it, but Juliet wasn't going to consider such a request at this time. Not when she needed to find Aaliyah, and more so, not when Teegan and her father were definitely not family to her. In her mind, it made sense that Teegan was probably dying to join her family, because for one, Juliet had a high opinion on herself, and two, Teegan's own mother had passed away, and Juliet thought this somehow meant she was searching for a replacement. Juliet had her own father, and her own sister. Why would she take on another pair, especially when she felt them to be of a lower class than her?

Teegan did not have time for the princess to be rebellious. Their parents wanted a picture and she just wanted to get it out of the way. Having to deal with Juliet's attitude was not part of the plan. In fact it was up to Teegan, they would not even be talking at the moment. ""Trust me. I would rather be the one murdering you. The blonde glared at her future step sister. She never understood why her father needed to go and try and find love again. Him, Teegan, and her brother, Hunter, were family enough. Then he had to go and find the Arnault's. Playing pretend house was no longer amusing. Teegan did not have time for this any longer. "Now let's go. I just want this picture done with so I don't have to see your face for the rest of the night" With that, she turned on her heels and started heading towards where their parents were.

It was definitely easy to get under Juliet's skin because she was sensitive and dramatic. As seen with the Beau incident, she took things very personally because frequently, she expected people to just succumb to her requests and deal with her behavior, but she couldn't handle or understand how people could act similarly towards her. Teegan was definitely one of the people that Juliet found herself annoyed with almost instantly, and though she would tell you that it was because Teegan was a complete bitch, her own attitude had a lot to do with it. Had she not acted so condescending and disgusted by her mother's decision to interact with the family when it all began, maybe the two could have been friends, or at least civil. Juliet refused to compromise to anyone else's desires though, so when her mother refused to break up with Teegan's father, she had just continued to be melodramatic and bratty about it all, as if that would somehow result in her getting her way. Considering how long the two had been happily dating, one would have thought that Juliet would have gotten the message now, that a breakup wasn't likely. Juliet could have easily spun away and walked in the opposite direction after Teegan returned an insult to her and began towards their parents, but she didn't. She followed just a step behind her, not because she wanted to take the picture, but because she was petty and didn't want to let another "personal attack" go unanswered. "Please, don't even try to act like you're not obsessed with me. You come to every party I go to, even when you're not even friends with Aaliyah. Or are you just here to stalk your weird ex-boyfriend?"

Teegan thought she was going to have to drag the blonde towards the family, but she willing followed behind. She was grateful for that. Her father would not be pleased if his daughter had Juliet by her long blonde hair, dragging her towards everyone like some caveman. This was more civilized and worked well with her image. As a server waltzed by, Teegan took hold of another glass of champagne. Any more glasses and she won't have room for Jack Daniels. For a moment the blonde's silence was a gift. No attitude. No talk backs. But of course she brought up how Teegan was clearly obsessed with her. There was only one person in the world that was obsessed with her and he was standing over with his best friend. She took another sip of champagne."I attend parties that I am invited too because it is polite." She started, taking another sip of her alcohol. "If the invitation had also added, spoiled brat and obsessive ex will be in attendance I would have burned it" Teegan managed not to say the world happily, at the end of that. She stopped walking and turned to face Juliet. "You're mother may have told you that you are something special. But I'm here to tell you that you are nothing more than a snobby princess with a stick shoved too far up her ass. All my life decisions have nothing to do with you and I will gladly keep it that way." She smirked and turned back around to continue walking towards her father. Hopefully this shut her up.

As Juliet followed behind Teegan, she managed to get a text out to Aaliyah saying, "btw I hate Beau" before responding to Teegan again. She had rolled her eyes, despite them being focused on the phone, at what Teegan was saying. Juliet had no feelings for Gabriel at all. If anything, she found him to be obsessive, like Teegan said. Their hookups when she was just a teenager had meant nothing to her at the time, and nothing to her now, and yet he had never seemed to move on from them. She thought highly of herself in a lot of aspects, but even she wasn't cocky enough to claim that she had been that good in bed, especially as an inexperienced young girl. She didn't know why Gabriel continued to pursue her, especially after he slept with Leah, but considering that his big relationship had been with Teegan, she also couldn't say that she was surprised that he had gotten bored of her fast. Unlike what her parents probably told her, she was nothing special either. Teegan had a fan base that would probably dispute that claim, but it was valid in Juliet's mind, at least. She felt like verbalizing that, but didn't want to linger on that topic too much, because what Teegan had said was false. Juliet's mother didn't tell her that she was special and perfect, and in fact, a lot of the time, it was the complete opposite. Juliet was sick and tired of hearing from her mother about how when she was her age, she was already married and a mother, and how Juliet needed to get her act together and do something with her life. Teegan's family coming into the picture had only made that worse, because she had to hear over and over about Teegan's next album or Teegan's next tour or about how she 'needed to tune in to the radio station that was interviewing Teegan that morning!!!'. "Good, you better," Juliet shot back, after a slight pause. She would have tried to conjure another insult, but they were soon approaching Hélène and Thomas, and Juliet had to put on a feigned smile. "Sorry it took so long, Mother," she said with an exhalation. "Teegan made us stop like five waiters for champagne on the walk over." She said it in a casual, even happy tone, but her smile transformed into a smirk slightly a she glanced from her mother, to Teegan.

It would be just like Juliet to leave her alone. Aaliyah didn't want to think about the part where the other woman was leaving her alone with her fiance - the main person she would want to be alone with, in the first place. Or, at least, should. She should want to be alone with him and yet, the second her best friend muttered an excuse to leave their - more like, Beau's, but Leah wasn't going to damage his ego for the moment - presence, a frown marred her features once more. Beau bit out a few unnecessary parting words before turning a question to her, and Aaliyah's lips pressed into a thin line as she replied under her breath, "Maybe she's not the only one,". Of course, Beau was too distracted with desiring another drink and her frown deepened.

Seriously, how much could one person drink in two hours? It was literally the most frustrating thing on the planet and what was worse was that Leah knew damn well Juliet could probably give Beau a run for her money, and seemed to have more control in her right pinkie than he seemed to have at all. And that was saying something! "Babe..." She started, but Beau beat her to it with a swift exit and Aaliyah bristled as she watched him go. Alone, her eyes floated over the crowd, painting on a thin grin when a few of her father's associates flitted past her with small acknowledgements and best wishes for her engagement...yeah, her engagement. One big fucking joke and she seriously needed to continue taking her time with this one drink because what she didn't need was herself being drunk. Good things didn't happen when she was drunk...not at large settings like these anyway...where her mother could throttle her or drown her in the pool.

"Dad!" She called and briskly walked over to hug the older man, their embrace lasting long despite his present company. When she released him, the smile on Leah's face was far more genuine than a few minutes ago. "I talked to Marcel. Hopefully, he'll come and mom's blood pressure will be stable." She said and the older man smirked, face not in any way convinced. "That or we'll all catch hell," he replied and they both grinned, and instinctively, Aaliyah's gaze returned to the crowd only for her eyes to narrow at where Beau decided to stop...because he obviously wanted to die. He wanted to be killed and dragged to hell, and he wanted to take that bug-eyed bitch with him because Aaliyah wanted to see him burn. "You alright, pumpkin?" Her father's voice broke her out of her wanting-to-kill head-space and Leah could see her father trying to follow her gaze, so she stepped around him to block the path. The last thing Beau needed - or even wanted - was her father mopping the floor with his ass because he was a disrespectful sack of shit.

"I was just thinking about that tennis match yesterday. Still upset you beat me, I call rematch," she exclaimed, challenging, and it was a good distraction too because his smirk returned and her father was regaling her with lies on how he had always been more skilled than her, and Aaliyah managed to pull out her phone to see Juliet's message.
