Finn has heard rumors recently that the fairytales that children were told as kids, the faeries in the forest, or the vampires stalking the night, had origin in New Orleans
With his parents gone most of the night, and when Eli would fall asleep, Finn would have horrible nightmares of being taken in the night by monsters he couldn't see and has developed a fear of being taken or going blind
His "little sister" Kim is the most important person in the world to him, and if anything happened to her, he wouldn't know what to do
Secrets: Back when he was sixteen, he got his girlfriend pregnant and they had a daughter, who he named Kim. His parents forced him to make her believe he was her older brother, not her dad
Personality: Finn is a very quiet person who's always kept to himself. He had to rely on his brother Eli to be the outgoing or assertive one, which allowed his introverted tendencies to rise. He is horrible at confrontation, which forced him to keep girlfriends he no longer liked or friends who made fun of him behind his back. He is often cautious and mistrusting in the lightest of situations due to his upbringing.
His parents unwillingly taught him to do whatever it takes to make money and children are a secondary thought; but he did the opposite of what he was taught, to spite them for neglecting him during his childhood. He made an internal vow when Kim was born that he would not be like his father or mother, and whether he was her dad or brother, he would be like Eli and take care of her like the dad he was supposed to be. When he meets new people, he is at first very tense and quiet, on reflex waiting for Eli to be the first responder. He has been working on automatically responding, helping him with dealing with people.
Finn is quite generous and volunteers often. Whether it's a soup kitchen or a church fundraiser, he's usually there. He loves helping people whether or not they help back. The returning help has never been a thought for him, only that people get the help they need. When he was younger, he was more closed off and almost aggressive, some would say, the fire behind his brother's voice. People didn't notice him when he was a boy, and that grew into an aggressive teenage boy that started many fights and let every profanity slip out. Having a child really changes a person.
Place of Origin: Williamsburg, Virginia
History: Finn was born the second boy in a lower class family in Virginia. His family scraped by on lowly lumberjack dad and three jobs mom, one in which included prostitution. Finn always knew his mother had no shame. With his parents out the house 95% of the time, it forced his older brother Eli to take care of him. Eli was more of a father to Finn than his actual father ever was. They made a deal with the grocery store manager for two meals a day if they restocked shelves at the store. He was also very fatherly to the both of them, and even drove them to their soccer games, karate tournaments, Boy Scout meetings, he was their second father. Of course, when their father was home, he was usually drunk. He didn't know about the manager driving the boys until Eli was in the paper with his little league team. They weren't allowed to see the man again, and had to quit their teams, but they still met him after school for meals when their parents weren't home.
When Finn's mom was accused of prostitution and convicted, she was sent to prison. Finn and Eli's dad's lumberjack business had a big spike in Louisiana, and he decided to move the boys there when Finn was twelve and Eli was nineteen. Their mom would join them when she got out. They lived in a house with an upstairs and their dad cleaned himself up. He put both his boys in the business while Eli was studying at the local community college for engineering and Finn had nothing better to do. Once he got into high school, he planned to go to a nice art school in Georgia and become a tattoo artist, but his father would have none of it and the school couldn't give him enough financial aid to go. Finn was stuck here in a job he didn't want and places he'd rather be, but that's life.
When he was sixteen, he had a girlfriend named Wendy. She was nice but all she did was show off her pretty boyfriend. Finn and Wendy went to countless parties and one night they were both careless and a few weeks later, Finn got a call that she was pregnant. She was planning to abort the baby, but he managed to convince her that he would take care of the child if she wasn't going to. She promised him she would have the baby if they broke up. Finn waited as long as possible not to tell his dad, but when he found out, he was absolutely furious. He demanded that Finn take care of the child as if she were his sister, not his daughter. His mother was in town by then and hid herself and Wendy for nine months until baby Kimberly Rae came and Finn gave up his rights to be a father. He is her primary care but not her guardian. Once he turned eighteen, he rented an apartment with the money and ever since their family has been telling everyone that Kim wanted to live with her older brother, not that he wanted to live with his child.
Anything else: Finn has been considering getting quite a few tattoos, and has two already: an owl on his ribcage and Kim's name on his hip. He has his tongue pierced and is also considering getting more. Once he quits the job his father got him, he was planning on getting an art degree with the money saved up and a tattoo/piercing license.
