Personality:
Winter is an introvert by anyone standards, he doesn't do well with large groups, and does even worse when he is scrutinized, why he would join the the guard boggles many a mind. He is quiet and reserved, and broods more often then not but with some convincing he can be talked into a feast or something like that but it takes some doing. Thoughtful and Wise, Winter is a deep thinker, always had be, as a child, for instance, while the other boys played like knights , he was the one sitting there, trying to figure out how the proper way to use a sword or how swords were made. He was always curious, and wondered about things, and that wonder made him want to learn more, and more, resulting in being brighter then anyone else he knew and that hasn't changed, even now he can often be found in his own head, contemplating his next move, for whatever the situation may be. Critical and Clever, He may be a man of little words, but he will let his opinion known if he finds it to be critical to the circumstances at hand. He thinks things through, a million times if he has to, to make sure he has covered all the bases, leaving little room for error. Violent, Winter, doesn't do well with teasing, he was always this way, even as a child, he lets things build and build, until he can't hold it in anymore, and he'll lose it. That being said, it takes a lot for him to get angry, he'll hold it in, as best he can, but that's not always a good thing. Chivalrous and Honorable, Winter grew up with a just his father and around the men his father led, and watched how they treated women and saw how it effected them. He vowed never to be that man, and grew to be a chivalrous man, however his father was always a good man, someone he looked up to, so he tried to be much like him as he could so now, as an adult, his word is his bond.
Overall, he keeps to himself, but walks around with a chip on his shoulder, all the while, he'd rather be here than anywhere else but deep down, he is a caring and honorable man with a lot on his mind.

Biography
Place Of Origin:
Palace of the Valie
History:Winter was raised by his father, his mother falling ill when he was very small so he was raised within the palace walls. He was trained to be a bodyguard at a very young age and his quizzical mind made him a quick study, and one of the best swordsmen in his class, destined to be a great knight. The King and Queen saw this, and decided that he was the best choice to protect their daughter, Princess Drew, and he has done so every since, even though he thought her to be flighty and a bit spoiled.

Years gone by, and Winter grew to befriend the Princess, and watched her grow from a spoiled princess to a possible queen, soon she didn't need him around too often, she was a woman now, so he really only accompanied her on long trips and when she requested it which was rather often, since he was the only real friend she had and vice versa. He found himself a bit more time to himself, not much but enough and in that time he would go down the the smithy and learned the art of making swords. He'd spend hours making swords, for himself, the other guards, his father and even the King once. They were quite popular among the knights. He didn't just make them however, after he finished, he would make sure they worked, spending whatever free time he had to spare, keeping up his skill.
Things were well until one day, one an outing, the King, Queen, and their guard (his father included) were ambushed and killed. A new Queen, this elder sister of the previous and Drews aunt, rose to power, and her horde of demon seeds the daggers became the law.
Winter had been testing his latest sword, a gift for the princess, when he heard word, he hid himself, knowing the the Princess was the rightful Queen. He and the other knights had been called to the throne room. He was smart, and knew what would become of him should he not plead fealty to the new Queen. His honor and loyalty would not allow this to end well for him, so he hung back, not answering the call. Instead, he gathered up as many of his swords as he could, and hid them in forest, outside of the castle walls. It was where he'd heard of the Shadow Children, he thought them only rumors and urban legend, but found by those living outside that they were indeed real. It took him a few days to return, but knowing the Queen couldn't kill the princess outright, he knew she was safe. Or so he thought. When he snuck into the keep, he found her overworked, and underfed. He managed to get her free and outside of the city walls, but not without fighting and killing those he used to call him comrades.

Now he hopes to seek out the Shadow Children, and with their help, place the Princess...Now Queen on her rightful throne.

Image Winter didn't pay her more than a side glance. She didn't know if she should be relived or upset. A mix of both probably. Deciding to ignore the two for now Mavis looked to Frere, rolling her eyes at his lighthearted tone. 'Funny Frere, ha ha. But no. Despite how much you joke about you did get hurt.' Voice dropping to a whisper she grabbed her Vice Captian by the arm. 'Don't ask me how I know but that guy over there is good with a blade. If they turn on us you'll need me. I'll send him back.'

Mavis turned and straightend, something almost military like about her posture. Seeing this the Guard scrambled forward and stood at attention. 'I need you to return to the caves, watch over the children until we or The Captian comes back. Don't....tell her what we found until we investigate more.'

The Guard nodded, looking white in the face from his orders. 'Yes Ma'am!' He gave both the Shadow Children a meaningful look and shoot of into the night. Mavis stepped back next to Frere. She wondered if it looked strange to the Princess and Winter, an obviously older boy taking orders from a short, runty girl. She almost wanted to grin at the idea. Maybe they'd see her as more than a little girl now.

Frere spoke and Mavis kept her eyes on him. It was strange not to trust her own blood but she couldn't help but worry Winter would attack him. In his wounded state Mavis wasn't sure how well Frere could defend himself. He positioned himself as to protect her from the two and Mavis couldn't help but grind her teeth. Stupid boy.

Image[font=century gothic]Drew took a deep breath and ran her hands through her hair, catching in the tangles. "Hopefully you understand how dangerous it is for me--for us--to trust someone without identification of some sort." She looked up at the man, her dark eyes reflecting the white light of the moon. "I'm sure you would feel the same if you had been where I have been.." She knew that wasn't enough information. For all they knew, she had been in the castle getting the pampering that came with being the princess instead of in the cold, stone cells beneath and out in the gardens. She pulled a little at the tangles. "Unfortunately, we don't have a choice but to trust you and what you say." She knew Winter wouldn't like those words. They were far too desperate, but desperate was what they were. There was no use in hiding it. They walked in silence for some time and she heard the man utter something about a treehouse. In what sort of place do they live? She thought. In her mother's stories they had been in the middle of the forest living in huts and tents. "Will I be able to speak with your leader?
