Description

Image
Name || Shana Aina Earlstreim

Sex || Female

Race || Human

Position || Lookout

Physical Description || A medium-built, medium height young woman, Shana's years of work have started eating away at any claims to beauty she used to have. She doesn't look particularly young but she's not too old yet either. She has dark gray hair and yellow eyes and is usually clad in her old scouting uniform. She has several scars all over her body, most notable is a long one running down her right eye.

Personality Traits || Shana's a very hardy woman; capable of sustaining herself no matter where the winds and seas take her. Despite her ragged and messy look, she's quite sociable and is rather amiable to most races. She's very patient and can take any kind of jest in stride though she may throw the occasional insult the other way if needed.

Weapons || Shana's preferred weapon of choice is a pair of specially forged blades resembling shirasaya-styled wakizashi. These blades are made of a special alloy making it harder yet more durable than normal blade steel. (Melee) Ranged combat isn't exactly her specialty but for such purposes, she keeps several throwing stars and knives on her.

Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent hand-to-hand skills.
- Adept fencing abilities.
- Decent accuracy with throwing melee weapons; does not translate well to gun marksmanship or archery.
- Street smart and capable of blending in a crowd.

- Cardio problems.

So begins...

Some of the red in Declan's hair transferred to his burning cheeks as Tadashi reminded him of a particularly unfortunate events. The young man cleared his throat, stirred in his seat, and gave a close-eyed smirk in reassurance. "You need not worry about that. I will personally ensure something like that never happens again. In writing, if I must."

Himmel winced and pouted Tadashi's way every time he reprimanded her lack of manners. Even so, she did not talk back to him, and instead gulped the greasy food down properly, wiping the leftovers from around her mouth with a napkin. One step closer from a childish girl to a proper lady. One baby step closer.

Declan took a sip of water, served to him by one of the pub wenches, and turned his gaze to Octavia, his easily-manipulable heart sinking at her retort. The young man cleared her throat, and quickly attempted a recovery. "I did not mean to offend, Octavia. I like women with appetite. After all, with great appetite comes good spirit, great health, and fabulous curves," The redhead casually opined, placing the cup of water back on the table.

With her breakfast over with and the grease and water slowly eroding the symptoms of her hangover, Himmel opened Declan's first suitcase, counting the drachma coins. 3750 clinking, shimmering coins, as promised.

Declan's face flared up with another blush at Octavia's smug suggestion, and his eyes instinctively wandered from the first mate to their harpy crew member, then back again. "'C-cutie'? Ahaha, you are a true comedian, First Mate Octavia." The redhead cleared his throat again, then nodded twice. "But yes. I will make sure I stay close. And safe. I will also bring aboard some of my books on board, I am certain some of you will enjoy them."

"Books, eh?" Himmel asked. a thought came over her as she hunkered down to the table and tossed Declan a mischievous, cat-like smirk. "Are these... naughty books?" Declan's eyes widened and his pursing lips shut tight. The captain giggled, taking his flustered silence as confirmation, and leaned back against the chair, resting her arms behind her head as she teased him, "I see how it is! Declan, you rascal~!"

Declan was eager to change the subject, which Shana quickly assisted him with. The older sailor provided an interesting conjecture, which made younger noble's brows furrowed in thought. "You... think someone sent those pirates to kill me? To prevent competition?" His face was colored with skepticism. To the noble, it seemed a rather far fetched idea. Paranoid, even. Though he kept that opinion to himself.

Himmel folded her arms as she also considered Shana's idea, her eyes lighting up with excitement. She did not particularly care for Declan's presence on board, personally. But the thought of a good conspiracy sent her blood flowing in all the right places. "Then that's one more reason for Declan to join us!" The Captain stood up suddenly and pumped her fist, before adding, "Nowhere is as dangerously safe as the middle of the sea, with the crew of my beloved Shamrock!"

Declan stared at Himmel with even more skepticism, one brow raised. Dangerously safe? Now that was an oxymoron... He turned back towards Shana to answer her other question. "Ah, the Minotaur Overboss? It is still too early to tell, but I think they are planning to send him to one of the prison mining camps down south. The Viceroy's advisors were not so enthused on wasting perfectly good minotaur labor, I suppose."

The first bell of the port rang outside, as the sun fully rose to the skies above. The winds were always the strongest this time of the morning, so the first of the merchant airships and fishermen sailboats alike had set off already. It would be their turn soon enough.

Octacia's smile widened, seemingly satisfied with the reaction she had gotten out of Declan. She tilted her head, making sure he understood that she was happy. "Well I did say that most women don't like it, and I like to consider myself a rarity!"Her smile shifted back into that smug smirk as she raised her eyebrows at Declan's comment about "fabulous curves". But she didn't make any more of it. She could tease the man all day, but some things was only good in moderate portions.

Her expression changed quite heavily at the sight of the payment, she leaned over Himmel placing both her hands atop her shoulders, practically pushing Tadashi out of the way as she stared dreamingly at the drachma coins. "You know, you are suddenly way more attractive my red haired sweet" She talked in a joking matter, or was she? The entire tone was difficult to place wether she was serious or not.

She snapped out of her greedy imagination as she listened in on Shana's questioning and Declan's answering, moving her hands up from Himmel's shoulder ontop the top of her head. "Well to be fair, if someone is willing to send an entire squadron of pirates to siege Port Draken only in an attempt to remove any rivalry in getting to whatever is in that storm-" Her eyes lit up, a very dangerous glint to them "-Then that means there is something really precious there...

Kiri heartily dug in to some bacon and scrambled eggs that the kitchens were only too happy to provide. There was no better meal than a free meal. Although Shana did not answer the harpy's question directly, the lookout's question could always be heard. And the answer to that was not the only thing Kiri overheard from Declan. She couldn't help but smile a little when he said how he admired a woman with an appetite, followed by her stomach turning when Octavia shamelessly flirted with the nobleman. The first mate's ambiguous tone certainly did not help.

"I can go with him! I-in case he falls off the ship, I mean!" Kiri piped up, perhaps a little too quickly. "A-anyway! If there really are other crews looking for a way to get into the maelstrom, sh-shouldn't we cast off as soon as possible?"

"That is perhaps a wise decision," Karos intoned, nodding slowly. "If my presence is not required here, captain, may I begin preparations for our departure while the rest of you finish here?"

Alexis ate in silence not in the mood to talk only listening and trying not to glare at the robot or gag as Octavia and Kiri flirted with Declan. The talk of the over boss made her break her silence. " You should have let me kill that damn bull when he escapes and comes hunting us you'll think it too." She sighs " I've seen it happen before. As for Declan I don't mind him aboard as long as he stays clear of my robots...Last time he smashed one of them."
The dragon bot on her shoulder made a tiny cry in Declan's direction. Alexis found her eyes wonder to Karos well there is one robot she'd like to see smashed at the moment.

Himmel's smirk turned cat-like as Octavia gave her brief proposition. If her first mate was right, this could be the big break they need to go from 'comfortable' to 'rich as steam barons'. This mission was sounding better and better....

Declan, meanwhile, couldn't help but widen his smile at Kiri and her endearing attempts at backtracking, watching her as she unhesitatingly gulped down her meal. The young man was quickly brought out of his bliss when Alexis reminded him of yet another embarrassing anecdote, causing him to look away and scratch the back of his head. "G-gods above... you all make me sound so helpless.." Not that he disputed such claims.

Himmel stood so quickly from her seat that the stool fell over behind her with a clatter. "That's a CAPITAL idea, Karos. I'll come with you, while Octavia could watch over the others still finishing up their meals!" The Captain gave a wink and another fist pump, "Let us go onward...", before she placed one foot atop the table, struck a pose, and pointed vaguely into the distance. "...TO ADVENTURE!"

"Feet off the table!" one of the wenches suddenly yelled, causing Himmel to stumble back and toss a pouting glare her way.

"And I've also seen small acts of kindness repaid even in the battlefield between friend and foe." Shana zeroes in on Alexis with her good eye as she said so. "Goes either way, mate. If he comes for us then count on my blade to land 'tween his eyes. If not, well you've got the one above to thank for. Besides, like our landlubber said, why waste good labor? Lone guy can take on the task of five or ten men if me math's right."

Karos suggested to depart early so he may prepare their vessel. Shana opted to go on with him. She passed by Kiri and Octavia playing around with Declan a little, bringing a smile to her. Declan wondered if everyone thought little of him.

"Don't worry about that--I'm sure you'll be useful as a distraction--!" Shana plants a hand on his shoulder with a laugh. "Just kidding lad! I'm sure you'll get your sea legs soon. 'Sides, doesn't seem like you'll be running out of company any time soon!" Shana refers to the two girls.

Clear skies. Calm seas. Everything a sky sailor loved. By the piers south of Port Draken, the Shamrock remained, one of the few vessels yet to cast off and take to the skies. Sun hawks flew under the radiant sun, gliding by and swerving over the sky ship's balloon. By the time Octavia, Kiri, Alexis, and Declan had arrived, Himmel had already began shouting orders to Karos, Shana, and Tadashi, her hangover mostly dispelled.

"Karos! Make sure the turbines are fully charged. Shana! Double check on each rope and pulley, I don't want our balloon to get loose and fly off like that one time on Helius! And Tadashi...!" The blue haired captain stopped, then turned towards her faithful butler and second mate. "...Stay there and look pretty for me~," she said, more of a request than an order, said in jest and with a lowered volume. The Captain turned to see her first mate arriving with the rest of the group, and nodded with a satisfied smile.

A low rumbling noise followed as the ship retracted its anchor. The ship's massive engines bellowed like a roaring wyvern, and it glided forward across the waters. First slowly, then rapidly gaining in speed and momentum, until the gasses in the ship's balloon and the energy in the turbines alike propelled it to the skies, water dribbling from the vessel's bottom as the gleaming sun lit it from above.

Himmel stood by the wheel of the ship, curling her fingers around its wooden shafts. She inhaled the familiar smell of the morning sea, and closed her eyes, feeling right at home. The Captain opened one eye, and stared at the wheel in front of her. A pout came over her face. She was so short that the wheel itself was practically at face level with her. The Captain bent to her side, and tugged at a lever nearby. A ratcheting noise followed as the control wheel retracted slightly under the planks, placing it at her chest level and allowing her to manipulate it more easily.

Declan took a moment to admire the blue vista all around him from the starboard side, his hands gripping tight onto the railings. His eyes twinkled like diamonds as he watched how they seemed to pass by the waters so quickly, managing to catch sight of a rainbow-winged fish jumping out of the water, then falling back in with a splash. "How could one ever get tired of waking up to such beautiful sights?" he exclaimed.

Octavia's mood was drastically improving, setting sail was almost always the most amazing part of it all. One might say what they want about her, but was one who attempted to never disobey a direct order from the captain, it didn't fit her personality much, but she supposed it was part of that little secret desire to be nice and orderly. Despite that, the crew didn't waste much time, we had already enjoyed this town to it's absolute limit, now, she wanted to get right back onto the Shamrock.

She entered the beautiful ship last, she usually didn't play much of an part once it came to manouvering and handling the ship. Much as the captain shamelessly said, she more or less stood there looking pretty. She placed herself directly at the bow looking out over the sea and throwing the occasional glance off towards her crewmates who were already being given orders, she was pretending to keep and eye on them, but she knew that they had this under complete control. "You know Himmel,
You ceirtainly change character when you aren't smashed beyond belief!"
She yelled over her shoulder, attempting to talk over the increasingly loud engines

She held onto her hat, placing her right hand onto it and her left on her hip as the speed started to increase, soon reaching a blistering one. Suprisingly, for anyone except her crew Octavia stood steadfast at the very bow, seemingly completely unbothered by the birds missing her frame by an inch. "That's the thing Declan! We don't!

The nice clean air was something Tadashi had always enjoyed more than the usually foggy, dark air of his home. Watching the more work oriented crew mates working around the clock while he stood there was something he didn't enjoy. He looked over at the captain, and decided to restrain himself from commenting on Himmel's actions of lowering the wheel for her lack of height.

"Miss Himmel..." he turned slowly towards her, before looking onward to the rest of the deck, "I hope you did a little more research into my job description, I am more accustomed to manual and work extensive tasks than you know, I used to do a lot of work back at home with two of my friends, so do not be too afraid to have me do actual work on deck. You don't have to worry that much about my suit getting dirty," as he finished, he had took a small glance at his unfitting clothes, but it was not as if those were his only outfits.

Remembering his younger years was always a mixed bag for Tadashi, but it did give him the experience to have him end up in this situation and for that, he thanked his younger self for the choices he made to end up upon this mix matched crew he was apart of.

Alexis went right to her guns when she entered the ship. She checked each one making sure all was in order. Her dragon bots flew around doing odd tasks as Alexis took inventory of gunpowder and ammo. Alexis kept herself busy trying to calm herself from the events of the last day. It was good to be back on the ship and at work.

Himmel's perpetually flushed face twisted into an excited, wide-eyed grin in response to Octavia's compliment. "But that's where you're wrong, Octavia!" the blue haired girl chirped, stifling a giggle while spinning her wheel. "I'm ALWAYS drunk. Even when I'm not," she claimed, nearly tripping over her own two feet while walking off to check some engine readings.

Declan turned to Octavia, smiling as her face managed to barely evade a collision from a flock of birds. His eyes glanced to the rest of the crew, who did not seem intent on bringing that up. Must have happened quite a lot.

Himmel kept an ear out to Tadashi while taking notes of the readings on several machines just to the side of her wheel. Altitude control is perfect, stability is fair, speed consistent, heading confirmed... The blue haired girl did a double take the butler's way, and she couldn't help but feel a mild sting in her chest.

"But you put up with so much shit from me! I'd feel guilty if I add on a bunch of menial tasks on your shoulders as well!" she protested back. Himmel wasn't completely oblivious. She knew how much of a handful she could be. Still, she quickly put up a smile. "But since you insisteeeeed... hmmmm.."

The girl's eyes darted from Tadashi to the sight of Alexis' back immediately sinking below deck. "Oh, I know!! What if you help Alexis set up our cannons? She's repaired quite a few after our last on-sea battle, and I'm sure she wouldn't mind a big, strong man like you helping her out!" There was obvious teasing in Himmel's words, but there was truth, as well. A dainty Alexis and her dragon could only do so much by themselves.

Himmel then leaned close to whisper his way, "Besides, who knows. You might even be able to break through that cold exterior of hers. Muyohohohohoo~"

Declan wandered closer to Octavia, his vermilion coat flowing as wind blew upon them. With furrowed brows, his eyes curiously ogled the first mate's mechanical arm as she stood by the bow, admiring every intricate bolts, nuts, and pistons. "You know, Octavia, I don't think I've ever seen you without that device," the young man suddenly voiced his thoughts, oblivious of the potential sensitivity of the subject.

Normally, Shana would be stuck in a lookout chamber carved inside the bow side of the Shamrock's balloon. High up, with a large window to see everything in front of her, and surrounded by advanced radar terminals. Not the best place to mingle and socialize, much worse than Alexis' solitary gunnery room, in fact. But now that the ship was just barely out of port, and no dangers were immediately apparent, she could mingle with the rest of the crew with no trouble.

Every excursion out to sea incites an odd melancholic feeling within Shana. Six years ago, she never would have expected she'll get the chance to see such sights. Encountering Himmel's crew was truly fortune swinging things in her favor for once.

"Enjoying the breeze eh, lads?" Shana walked up to Octavia and Declan, savoring the whisky she got from the Wench's as compensation. They haven't entered uncharted territory yet so she felt no need to be on complete guard. That much alcohol certainly won't get her drunk either. Grinning, she offered a drink to the two as she turned her attention to the skies ahead.

"Looks like we got ourselves some incoming low pressure there." She pointed at some dark colored clouds passing by. "We should avoid that if necessary Cap'n. Wouldn't do this baby's fuselage much good fighting against that nasty storm."

Shana walked over to the Captain as she voiced her suggestion. She debated on offering her a sip of the stuff. From her estimation, they should near the uncharted territory in a couple of hours. Can't have her senses all clouded up when they arrive.

"Back in the war we used to lure them nasty li'l riders out under clouds like those. Gets them every time. Only downside is we aren't able to loot some booty off of them riders." Shana recounted an incident to Himmel regarding the storm clouds she sighted. "Well, I'll be around here if you need me. Just give me a holler, 'kay?" Shana pats the captain on the shoulder and moved on to check up on the cannons with Alexis but paused and decided against it upon seeing Tadashi approach her as well.

"On second though, me thinks I'll just stay here." Shana laughs as she returns by Himmel's side. "The lads seem to be itchin' there a bit." She referred to both Tadashi and Declan as she smiled her usual grin.

Tadashi squinted at his master, wondering what exactly she thought he would do, and could only picture some strange method of the captain trying to play match maker. Was the captain still drunk? Tadashi sure hope she wasn't; not while she was steering. His final guess was that she was trying to invoke some form of reaction out of him, so he decided to turn the tables on his short employer.

"If you plan on guessing my preference of women, captain, I'll have you know I'm more attracted to adorable short girls like yourself, but if you so desire, of course I will assist Alexis," And with one small mischievous half smile of his own, accompanied by a bow, Tadashi began walking over to the gunners location.

As he walked, he removed his overcoat, setting it over his arm, he then removed his dress shirt's sleeves up to his biceps, revealing the somewhat decently built forearms. Somewhat more build for cardio than strength, but it would be enough for his current task. Making sure to not hit his head on anything, he headed over to Alexis, making sure there wasn't any form of security dragon to burn him again.

"Miss Alexis, may I assist you with the cannons? The captain sent me down here." He pointed behind him back up above deck, in the general captain's direction. He then patiently waited for her to notice him.

Alexis was alerted to Tadashi by the cry of a dragon bot even before he came into the room and spoke. She looked him over it was a rare sight to see him without his full suit on. "The captain sent the cook to help with the guns? How bloody drunk is she?"
Alexis sighed and went to tinkering with one of her broken dragon bots. "If you want to help go ahead just be careful ok..."

Alexis looked over Tadashi again " You should keep this look makes you look less boring" she said with a grin turning back to her dragon bot she added "Actually after yesterday a little civilized company is nice..."

After consulting her sea charts and plotting a course for their next destination, Kiri had very little to do. It was too soon after breakfast to go sneaking into the galley for a snack, so she took to wandering about on the Shamrock's deck, admiring the view. She noticed Declan chatting with Octavia, and was about to turn back when she overheard him mention the First Mate's mechanical arm. "Yeah, that thing really packs a punch!" she added. "Doesn't it get heavy on one side after a while though?"

In Karos's eyes, the Shamrock was a simple, ramshackle thing compared to the pre-Fall machines he had known. Not that this was entirely a weakness, mind. The engines were easy to power up or repair. It still amazed him that all this was built by a single woman with a few spare parts and a burning desire to explore.

With the ship airborne, and no need to babysit the engines throughout the duration of the voyage, Karos walked over to a workbench near the far end of the engine room. The robot's gaze swept over the assorted drawers kept to one side and he rummaged around in one of them, fishing out a small steel tube and some assorted brass widgets. Setting them down on the workbench next to a set of blueprints, he tapped at his chin in thought, the metallic sound subdued amid the rumble of the engines. Karos liked to keep his mind occupied during these otherwise idle hours. Building something on his own initiative was a good way of doing just that.

Declan smiled as Shana made her presence known, his eyes flicking to the whisky in her hand. A drink? This early in the morning? Either Shana was a bad influence to Himmel or, just as likely, vice versa. He held up a hand to non-verbally refuse Shana's offer of a drink, then turned his attention to the clouds as the older sailor pointed out the dark clouds, nodding. It is always good to learn new things, to gain new experiences. "You've been doing this for quite a long time, haven't you, Miss Earlstreim?" the redhead asked.

"E-EHHHH?!"

A high pitched noise blurted out of Himmel. Her blush spread all over her face and up to her ears, as she stared Tadashi's way with shrunk blue pupils and a hung jaw. The vertically challenged Captain blinked once, then twice, as her mind struggled to push out a response. "I-idiot! D-don't say something so ridiculous...!" she shouted, with half-hearted vitriol to cover her flustered self. Himmel looked away slightly, then huffed and folded arms, peeking from the corner of her eyes as Tadashi made his graceful exit. "Damn that pretty butler! He caught me completely off guard...," Himmel mumbled as she gripped her wheel once more, tossing a pouting glare to any who stared at her for more than two seconds.

Suddenly, Kiri's upbeat voice attracted Declan's attention, and his smile widened at the sight of the sparrow. "Kiri! So glad you could join us so soon!" he commented. Without thinking, his eyes wandered over her from top to bottom. Not many 'landlubbers', as Shana called him, see harpies on a regular basis. A peculiar curiosity came over the young noble as he observed how the avian feathers blended with her fair skin.

"Thanks for the heads up, Shana!" Himmel replied to her lookout, diverting her thoughts from Taashi's earlier remarks. She then glanced aside while holding her chin. "That reminds me.. I'll need to talk with Karos and figure out how to set this bad girl up and proper for the Maelstrom.."

Octavia, completely spaced out, as simply as that, she intently watched the waters speeding past them while standing as solid as a pillar at the ships bow. As she had previously held a satisfied smile with a hint of cheekiness she now was completely blank, staring at her right arm. It only lasted for a second but to lose herself that way was exceptionally rare from Octavia. It was Declan's innocent question which had triggered it, the moment he inquired about it, she had lost herself slightly, in old, old stories

Finally she swung her arm up infront of her, clenching her fist and letting go while watching her suprisingly delicate fingers poking out of the half-gauntlet. She turned to Declan, moving both her arms behind her back. Giving him a bright smile, but still, a small worried glint poking through "Oh you know, most of us experienced sailors have all kind of stories to tell, with only a small portion being true. This one.." One could see how she shifted her right shoulder, holding her hands together behind her back "...I don't really tell it, anyways it's boring!" She suddenly waved off the notion as the crew started to awaken behind her.

She quickly took notice of Declan's interest. "That's, way more interesting" She whispered, only meant for the red haired noble to hear, before she promptly placed her boot atop his lower back, and give him a firm push towards Kiri, all the while turning a sinister smirk. Hopefully she didn't push hard enough to send him straight into the harpy...

She walked off, pretending to not care about the consequences that her little shove would have, walking towards the now quite clearly flustered captain. Raising her voice so that most of the crew would hear her, and more importantly Himmel. "See captain, this is why you can never land any guys. You are probably the least seductive person I've met, maybe even more than Declan!" She leaned against the front of the ships wheel, making it considerably harder to maneuver. "You just recieved a cheeky compliment, make something out of it!" She crossed her arms over her chest, smiling carelessly towards Himmel, if anyone she was probably the one most used to her honestly a little mean nature

"Wouldn't boast to be a veteran vagabond considering I've only been makin' a livin' off the booties of the seas for only five years." Shana clarifies when Declan approached her and asked about her experiences. "Eight years b'fore I was a sea rat, I was a soldier in the shogun's army! Not one of them retainers mind you--our charge was the seas. We fend off arrows and gunpowder on our wee boats. Nearly took one near the eye see?" She points to her 'bad eye' as she recounted.

"Well--most of it's history now. If I've been able to recall every single thing back then, I would've been a historian!" Shana laughed as she gave Declan a pat on the back just as the Captain mentioned something about setting the ship up for entering the Maelstrom.

"Need me below the deck now Cap'n?" She called out before rising to her feet. Kiri's arrival had already caught Declan's attention as well. Even she rarely saw harpies back in her home so even she felt mesmerized as well. Particularly due to the fact that Kiri behaved differently from the tengu her grandmother warned her about as a kid.

"Catch you later lads~ For now, duty calls." With that, she vanished down below to head back to her sweet little spot in the radar room to wait for further instructions. Before she could get there, she noticed Karos off on one side, fiddling with some things she didn't know about. He seemed to be making something.

"So what'ya doin' there?" Shana approaches the robot. Like harpies, Shana never really saw many of Karos' kind and the ones she did were--well, she'd rather not recall. "Saw some bad clouds driftin' nearby so I thought to let you know. Depending on the situation, we may be off on a rocky start."

The dragon bot Alexis was working on let out a cry and soon lifted into the air with the others.
"You wish to learn to use guns?" Alexis asked as she walked over to the cannons. "Guns and gunpowder in untrained hands can be quite deadly...for the untrained one. One wrong move down here and the whole damn ship can blow."

Alexis looked over the cannons "Hmm, a fair job though the one there on the left is a tiny bit to high" she said pointing to the cannon she spoke of.
She then looked at Tadashi "If you truly wish to learn to use a gun I could show you but not here so close to my dragons and the powder stores."

Declan's eyes remained unblinking as he focused on listening to Shana's tale, only moving to inspect the scar across her eye as she pointed it out. He chuckled lightly at her joke, and watched her for a few seconds as she left. Historian, eh?

Declan then let out a startled cry as Octavia shoved him towards Kiri with a horse-like kick. The nobleman stumbled from the sheer force of the hit, but steadied himself at the last second, and stopped a reasonable few inches from Kiri. He looked into her eyes and gulped in the face of their mesmerizing cyan color. Clear as the seas, and twice as bright.

Declan cleared his throat and calmly inquired, "...I have something to show you, Kiri." The redhead reached to grab her hand, but diverted its trajectory at the last minute, figuring that it was not proper yet, and settled for gesturing towards the hatch leading under the decks.

The blush on Himmel's face turned redder and more furious in the face of Octavia's teasing. The Captain rested both hands on her hips, then puffed her (extremely modest) chest out as she countered, " 'Least seductive'? With THESE... bazooms?!" Himmel squinted and pouted as she leaned forward and added, "I'll have you know, I used to turn the heads of every boy in my academy!"

A pause.

Himmel glanced aside and muttered under her breath, "...Well, back when I was twelve, I did." Eager to change the subject, the Captain stepped forward and shook a fist while holding on to the wheel with another.
"H-hey hey hey! This is a very delicate piece of machinery, not a backrest! Like me! The delicate part, I mean. Not the backrest..."

The captain's attention was briefly diverted to Shana, and she gave the latter a nod and a wave as she announced her departure below deck. The radar room was a relatively new addition to the ship, giving Shana less direct line of sight, yet a greater total range. Dark, quiet, and musty, the walls of the room was slithering with steam pipes, dim yellow lights, and large, heavy machinery featuring an assortment of displays and meters.
