From the moment she turned five, she realized that she was not going to have the best familial life. In the public eye, it seemed that she had it all. Her parents were really well off. The town seemed to like them. Behind closed doors, however, the truth was painted on every wall. There was no love in this family save for the love Annabeth found from her older brother. But even she knew that he wouldn't be here forever.
Trying to block out the lack of affection and attention at home, Annabeth focused and studied hard in school. She excelled in all of her studies, particular History because she had such a good memory and it actually fascinated her. History was a good book to her. It had all of the elements a good read would have and immersing herself in that was a lot better than depressing herself with fact that neither of her parents cared. Soon enough, as she reached high school, it was very evident that Annabeth was growing up to be a very attractive young woman. And boy, did the boys love her. And it wasn't like she didn't love them back. She would deny this in a split second, but some part of her gave her first boyfriend her virginity because she wanted something more than the love her brother gave. Perhaps it was her way to get that male affection that her father seemed not to have, but she did it anyway.
