*edits inside* "A simple murder case, though, I can't help but think how cliche the country-side setting is..."
Demetri Maverick is a curious man. On the outside, he's a laid back, often humorous soul. To those younger than him, he has the tendency to fall into a sort of big brother or fatherly role. He's lazy, and if he had it his way, he'd leave all the hum-drum filing and other tireless tasks to his assistance, but he's also a sort of perfectionist when it comes to his cases, he can't leave a single stone unturned or else it nags him to no end, these two aspects of his persona are at a constant tug within Demetri.
He's constantly thinking and he has a vivid photographic memory, which is perfect for a man in his line of work. Demetri throws physical exercise to the side in order to devote full recreational time to strengthening his mental capability. Brain teasers, Rubix Cubes, Sudokus (sp?), and any other type of way to stretch his mind are his favorite leisurely activities. Demetri knows he's smart, and when the time arises, he doesn't hesitate to flaunt it.
He people watches a lot, he likes to assess what, or who, he's dealing with before he tackles it. The battle is won in preparation is a favorite quote of his.
Demetri has a candy addiction, Hersey Bars & M&M's are his favorite, but he'll take whatever sugar he can get his hands on. When he doesn't have candy for a while he goes through sugar withdrawal, and reverts to a dizzy, lethargic state.
His biggest weakness is his love for those he cares about. He'll put a loved one, or any helpless person before the mission, the boys on the force called him Hero for jokes.
A few items of Demetri's that he keeps on hand at ALL times are as follow...
-His silver pocket watch from a certain woman
-His Droid X phone, which holds all of his case files (stored in his shirt pocket)
-His mp3 and white DJ-style headphones
Aside from that, in a holster around his right shoulder is a black 9MM. He hasn't had the need to use it in years however.
Demetri Maverick was a prodigy back at the Police Academy. Even though he was only 18 upon entering he scored the highest on all exams, and his mind was sharp, sharper than most men already on the force. As expected he graduated top in his class, and even was given a plaque as one of the most talented individuals to graduate from the academy. He entered the force as a rookie at the age of 19, and by 20 he was promoted to detective for his wit, skill, and work ethic (in the field at least).
He spent three long years on the force, and then he was landed with a particular case. On the surface it was your run of the mill serial murder case, the criminal wasn't even one worth noting. Just your typical character with a God-Complex who got hooked on the thrill of killing. It was one of the victims in the case that led to his unusual emotional involvement to it. While normally approaching these types of jobs with a cool, collected head, Demetri tracked the killer down with an intense loathing.
He had no problem tracking the man down, and when he cornered him at his apartment, he threw the code of due-process he lived by out the window and killed the man his self. There was hardly any debate, his actions were irresponsible and unacceptable for a man in his work. There were few that argued in his defense, many were happy to see Demetri go so they could finally get from under his shadow. He was kicked off the force immediately, and left unemployed.
He tried doing regular work for a while, but it just wasn't for him, they all lacked a sense of fulfillment that a job on the force had. And so, he decided to open up his own Detective Agency, aptly named the Maverick Detective Agency. One of the younger kids from the academy followed Demetri after he was fired from the force, said he looked up to Demetri after hearing him speak at some occasion that Demetri his self didn't even remember. The kid's name was Taro and he became Demetri's assistant at the agency.
However, even with his own agency, life just wasn't the same for Demetri after everything that happened. A year after he left the force and started the agency (24 years old), he was looking for something...he didn't know the word for it.
He got the letter about the Twilel Town murders about a week ago, a woman said she had heard about his work ethic and insisted he was the only man for the job.
