History & Background
Molly grew up in a family of demon hunters in a part of the world where demons were not uncommon problems to be dealt with. As a result, she knew of the unseen at a very young age, though she was considered mundane, and didn’t know of the family business until her teen years. It was long before that though, that she first crossed a demon.

At age 7, Molly and her friend Kaitlynn discovered that they had special abilities that they had never heard of before. Both religious girls, they decided these abilities must be a divine gift. Rather, it was the last gift of a mutual friend who had died due to a violent ritual just before this. Their holy gift though, was magic rather than any holy powers, and they soon found that with the magic in them, they became the targets of the demons that plagued the area. By the end of their seventh year, Molly was possessed by the spirit of a demon too weak to do more than rest in her new host. The possession, revenge against the acts of the Bronson family, had cost the demon too much energy. It wasn’t until age 13 that the demon Karato had enough spare energy to fully possess molly. By then, her own abilities were strong enough, that with the help of Kaitlynn and the backing of her family, Molly was able to throw off the possession and strike a deal with the demon inside her. An exorcism would kill them both, in the only form of exorcisms the Bronsons knew. But a deal would allow them to share the body.

Trained by her inner demon to fight with her fists and the magic that she had in her, Molly continued on with her life, growing up to become a demon hunter, with a degree in xenobiology paid for in demon bounties. Shortly after graduating, she was chosen by a planeswalker to be his apprentice and disappeared into the fae realms to learn his craft - whether she wanted to or not – and in that time, Karato and she separated bodies, both choosing to inhabit golems so they could be their own person. On returning abruptly, her apprenticeship interrupted due to her mentor’s trouble with the law, Karato joined MCU, and Molly agreed to work as a contractor. Karato’s nature overtook her though, and she was soon arrested, and the golem form destroyed in jail. Molly accepted the spirit back in her willingly this time, but the act exhausted the demon and she began to rest in a deathlike state.

Her mentor had left her with more than a half finished education though. Molly had a stalker in the form of his brother, the officer who had been sent to arrest her mentor. Molly tried multiple times to escape from this stalker, but he proved many times more powerful than her. Soon, the officer was kidnapped and a ritual was performed, exorcising and killing Karato. Molly now lies alone in her head and is just a little broken by the silence, her mental shields trashed by the ritual, and her instincts thrown out of whack as she contends with all that Karato had hid from her.

So begins...

He was smiling on the inside; attributed to the fact that she took to his work so fervently. It must have come as a shock, to see a woman lying in your living room; a woman who looks identical to you. Or in this case, Molly. Malik wasn’t about to give away his methods though, not yet. Maybe he’d watched way too my television, but he wasn’t about to spill the beans on his masterplan. He wouldn’t even think about it. “Technically, her name is Molly. As for where she came from, that part is a secret. But you’re a smart girl. You’ll figure it out.”

Under arrest? The idea hadn’t even dawned on him. Would she really arrest him? Did she even have the nerve to try? Curiosity did kill the cat. But what the hell. “You got me officer. I don’t know how I ever thought I’d get away with it. Take me in. Book me! Read me my rights!” He spoke with an almost sarcastic tone as he put his wrists out. “Come on, I won’t bite. Be gentle though, it’s my first time.” Almost giddy from excitement, he closed the distance between them, arms still out with his wrists clearly visible. “I’ll ride in the backseat.”

Molly darted to the side table, grabbed an old set of cuffs that used to belong to her sister, and then darted forward, as if scared that being slow would make him leave. There was a trick to this. There had to be a trick to this, there had to be, because things did not go this smoothly for her. Ever. The other girl looked almost identical to her. Less toned perhaps, but otherwise almost identical. Molly swallowed as she quickly put the cuffs on him, or tried at least.

They weren't anti-magic cuffs. He'd only come if he cooperated. Somehow, in her heart, she knew this was a trick. She had to hope though, had to try. It was her job, and if she couldn't do her job, what good was she? The woman swallowed again and looked up at him. "Please come quietly, Malik. She'd be so sad if I hurt you." He knew perfectly well who she was too. Molly knew there was something between him and Karato, but not what. Carefully, she reached in her, to that well of power and being that was Karato, that let her know the other still lived, and drew from it, so she felt more like the other, if nothing else. She couldn't properly channel it now, the other was so tired and weak, but she could feel like her Inhabitant.

The aura around Molly reeked of Karato, enough to make his knees quiver. Stumbling in place, he lost himself long enough for her to slip the pair of handcuffs around his wrists. Hearing them lock into place, he stared down hesitantly. “Karato…” He murmured quietly under his breath, his composure breaking for less than a second before he forced his arms apart, shattering the handcuffs. Immediately thereafter, his wrists phased through the metal, and the cuffs fell to the floor, a loud clank resonating throughout the room. “What do you know little girl? My little puzzle.”

Grabbing the nearest end table and flipping it over, he punched a hole in the wall before pacing around Molly; eyes trained intently on her. “I’m going to let you in on a little secret, Molly. I know where Karato is. Body... and soul.” Tugging at the gold chain around his neck playfully, his hand slipped between the dimensions, his body edging back into the void. “You underestimate my resolve. There is only one last piece to gather, and I’m looking right at her. The decision is yours. Either give yourself up willingly, or there is going to be hell to pay for you… and your friends. I may seem crazy, but there isn’t anything I wouldn’t be willing to do for her sake.”

Molly collapsed the minute he was gone, and just breathed for several minute, and let the tears flow. The woman pulled herself together and stumbled to her feet, pulling her cell phone off its charger and dialing the MCU dispatcher. Legs shaking, she sat down as she spoke. "Dispatcher? This is officer Molly Bronson. I need you to send some people to process a crime scene at my apartment. Warden Dumitrescu should also be contacted." She said, quietly, still shaken. "Please hurry."

The woman didn't bother getting dressed, drawing her feet up under her in her nightgown. She should put on a robe at least... Molly stumbled to her feet and found her bath robe and pulled it on over her night gown. Malik was back, and he was killing women who looked almost identical to her. The officer flicked on the lights as she did so. No need for them to come to a dark apartment after all. Gods. He was back, and if she didn't surrender to him, he'd...he'd try and kill everyone. Catherine was powerful and could take care of herself. She didn't really associate with most of the other officers. It would be okay.

Faust had been only a few blocks from the crime scene when he got the call. Truth be told, he still hadn’t quite settled into Dallas yet; still living out of a briefcase at a motel. And it wasn’t a classy one. The springs on the bed squealed, the faucet leaked, and there was a strange odor coming up from out under the tub. Among other things. He’d just nearly transferred to the MCU after working overseas for the last ten years, and wasn’t quite sure if he was prepared for what Dallas had to offer. While he may have been the best in Britain, Dallas was playing in a whole different league.

Homicide. And that wasn’t even the strangest thing about this particular call. It was placed by a Molly Bronson, a Junior Officer with the MCU. Standing just outside the apartment, he was about to knock before he realized he didn’t have his credentials out. Molly would surely be suspicious of Faust at her door, since as it stands, he was still a nobody in Dallas. Reaching for his badge, he placed it up next to his face as he knocked. “Molly Bronson. This is Dr. Nequam with the MCU. You don’t know me, but I’m new to Dallas. I just got a call that you may have a problem. I’m here to help.”

He sounded like a total idiot, as if he was begging to be let in through the front door. This was just official business. If you didn’t know any better, Faust acted as if this was his first rodeo.

Molly checked the peephole, then opened up. "Dr. Nequam." She greeted quietly. "Welcome to Dallas. I'm...I'm Molly Bronson." She spoke and then stood back, letting him in. "We better just leave the door open." She murmured and then motioned with one hand to the visible living room. "The body is over there." She murmured, clearly shaken still. "I'm afraid I already know who did it, so there's not much of a mystery to be solved." There never was when it came to her life, it seemed.

Molly stepped back, away from it all and took a deep breath. "Regulations state I can't assist in your investigation, except as a witness. I've asked for Warden Dumitrescu to come as well." She swallowed and wrapped her arms around her. "How'd you get here so fast?"

“Well, that’s a funny story. I was actually in the neighborhood looking at apartments. I’ve not quite settled into Dallas yet. Still living at a motel, which I don’t recommend.” It was hard to be so coy when his eyes settled on the corpse lying on the living room floor. Faust only crept closer to get a better look and he almost stopped in his tracks when he saw the victims face. “Molly. Can I call you Molly or would you prefer Miss Bronson? Do you by any chance have a twin?” The resemblance between the victim and Molly was more than just uncanny.

Pulling a pair of latex gloves from his back pocket and slipping them on, he scrunched down and peered at the body, analyzing every inch of the victim before taking a look around at the crime scene. “Obviously whoever did this was strong.” Taking note of the thrown table and the gaping hole in the wall, he stood up when he saw the broken handcuffs. Walking over and inspecting them, he bit his lower lip when he got a closer look. “Now who… what exactly did this?”

Dispatch had called Catherine, letting her know that Molly had requested her to help with an incident. "Now what?" She grumbled wondering why she hadn't just requested a Warden in general. The staff meeting while it had been chaos, at least allowed her to set a few ground rules with certain people. Catherine still wondered which bishop of what denomination or religion Rafael had bribed to dunk armor in a horse trough. Shaking her head, she gathered her things and headed out, telling Ishae to find a way to clear her schedule as she might be gone for some time.

It didn't take her long to get to Molly's apartment, after all it was fairly close to headquarters. Finding parking on the other hand would prove difficult with Oak Lawn's narrow one way streets; eventually though Catherine found a spot to slot the jeep into before heading inside.

Finding the door wide open, with Molly and a man crouched over the body in the floor, she made a face. "Really? We're going to leave the door open for the neighbors?" It wasn't the best way of introducing herself or announcing her presence, if there was any media clean up to be had about a homicide in Oak Lawn, then that was someone else's headache.

Molly held herself close. "Molly. We'll be working together. And I do, but that's not her. My twin was killed some time ago." In custody. It shouldn't have happened, but it did and she was not at all surprised. Karato frankly made enemies with ease. she hesitated and then glanced to Catherine.

"Leave it open for officers." She corrected. "Most of my neighbors are fast asleep. Malik's back Catherine. My stalker." From ages ago. "And if I don't surrender myself to him, he plans on killing you, and every one I work with and that is dear to me. I figured a death threat to the Dallas office was something to share." She glanced to the new guy and shrugged. "This is Dr. Nequam." She introduced. "Dr. Nequam, this is Warden Dumitrescu, who is likely the only person in MCU who remembers the last time I was stalked by this guy. He pretty clearly escalated."

Last time there weren't dead women who looked like her. "Check out the body Catherine. It's a dead ringer for me."

“Well in that case, you can call me Faust. If I had any, my friends would call me Fin.” What a strange thing to say. If he had any friends. The truth of the matter was, work was his only real friend. It was the only thing he had; with not even a dog to keep him company. Having since returned to his position perched over the body, he took notice of the shadow looming in the doorway. Nothing like meeting your new boss. “Warden Dumitrescu. Sorry if I don’t shake your hand.” Waving his wrists about in show off the gloves he had on, he smiled. “In her defense, leaving the door open was my idea ma’am.” Faust had almost come off as condescending with the way he had said it. Taking the blame for it probably wasn’t the best idea but Molly had been through enough already.

Casually returning his attention to the body, something caught the corner of his eye. “I think there is something lodged in the cavity here.” Faust was inpatient, and quickly revealed a small kit from his cloak pocket in which he removed a single pair of tweezers. Not hesitating to reach into the woman’s chest, he removed what appeared to be a small puzzle piece. “Does this mean anything?” He had a million pockets, and whipped out an evidence bag from another in which he slid the small piece into before sealing it shut. “Interesting…”

Catherine raised an eyebrow at the name given. "Interesting name there, Faust." She remarked, her curiosity piqued while eyeing the gloves. "I think I'll let the formal introduction slide this time." She added as she walked over towards the body and Molly. Bending over to look at the body, she eventually crouched down to get a better look, careful not to touch anything. "I knew you had a stalker Molly, but this is a bit extreme." Catherine remarked dryly as she stood up. "I can't say I've ever seen such a... strange show of devotion."

That's what most stalkers did best, showing devotion, albeit unwanted. Dispatch was going to get an earful for not alerting her that it was a homicide, or even a potential one; Catherine could swear all they did was sit on their asses, watch movies, and shove popcorn in their faces. Disregarding Faust's comment about the door, she turned her attention to Molly. "Well a death threat is worth reporting..." She said slowly, thinking over the issue. "But honestly why would he want to kill anyone connected to you? It's rather pointless." Although there were days when she considered killing Fisher for sheer annoyance, it never happened.

Catherine glanced over to Faust and his meticulous examination of the body. As he pulled out the puzzle piece, she frowned again, grabbing the evidence bag from the man. "Molly?" She asked.

Molly hesitated and then sighed and looked to the flowers that had been hiding the puzzle piece from view. "Catherine." She said and looked to the other. "He wants to bring Karato back." She closed her eyes and shook her head. "He...he claims to know where her body is. I assume he means her real body, from before she first possessed me." She didn't know that, but it was the only thing that made sense. "Or else, he could be talking about her golem."

Molly sighed. "As for the puzzle piece, well. That's what he calls me. I'm his puzzle piece. No one is allowed to hurt me but him." And Karato, of course, but in Molly's life that went without saying. "Or at least, I assume that's what it means. I mean...he called me that earlier." She shrugged and closed her eyes. "I suspect the death threat to everyone connected to me is to get me to comply. I mean, it's me or everyone. Not that I have any fucking clue who the everyone would be. My social life consists of MCU and home. The only people I speak to for anything not work related are you, and the midget."

She didn't care that said midget's body was technically older than hers. He was the midget. It was his job. "He was here you know. I woke up because he had climbed into my bed."

Holding up the evidence bag triumphantly, Faust was a bit surprised when he had it snatched away by the Warden. Nonetheless, what could he possibly do? She was his boss after all. Having just as many questions as the Warden did, he looked to Molly, awaiting all the answers; and boy was he surprised. This wasn’t anything like he’d read in his Sherlock Holmes novels. Karato? Bodies? A golem? All terms that meant relatively little to Faust. It was clear that whoever this stalker was, he had a history with Molly, and that the Warden was one of the few people who knew anything about it.

“Who is Kara-…” Stopping himself, he shook his head. “Never mind.” Whatever it was, the story would take too long, and there was a case to solve. “I know I’m new to the MCU; this being my first day and all. But do you think that threat pertains to me too?” Faust was partly kidding, and as he stood up, he got a better look at Molly Two. He decided to name her Molly Two until he knew more about her.

By the looks of her, she died suddenly. Her heart however was not removed with surgical precision. It was almost as if something pulled it with sheer force alone. To imagine, someone that strong. Then again, by the looks of the hole in Molly’s wall, and other damage – especially the broken handcuffs – it didn’t quite sound like the impossible.

"The midget?" Catherine asked raising an eyebrow at Molly's comment. It seemed that this was going to be repercussions of removing Molly's actual body from that strange reality with it's even stranger school. "Well, we'll deal with this one thing at a time I suppose." She mused thinking that additional wards would probably be of use, especially if Molly had recently moved in.

"If you want to know who Karato is Faust, let's just say it's a very big headache for all involved." Catherine explained turning towards Faust. "If you're new, the threat doesn't pertain. Malik will probably try to strike people one by one until Molly here complies. I think the threat may be more oriented towards established relationships." Though why Catherine really had no idea.

"Brandon. Who else." She shrugged and closed her eyes. "As for established relationships, since the time in court, the majority are gone. It is down to you and Brandon." The only other person she really interacted with was Fisher, and that was only at the range when they ran into each other. Molly sighed and closed her eyes.

The woman wrapped her arms around her. "I need to get dressed. I have the feeling going back to sleep is out of the question." And she needed wards. Not that they would do much. Besides, she'd nee a new bed before she could fall asleep again and wards on wards on wards before she felt safe enough to do so. "Well. I suspect the flowers and the body are a courting gift for Karato. She would appreciate them, no doubt."

It was a relief to think that there was a homicidal maniac out there who wasn’t after him. On the other hand, he threatened the MCU, which he now worked at. Ultimately he had no other choice but to find himself intimately involved with this character who killed Molly Two. “You mentioned the perps name is Malik? By the looks of the damage, he can’t be human.” Definitely not human. And he was evidently very artsy in the way he prepared the body. “Dianthus caryophyllus.” He muttered, which was probably gibberish to both Molly and the Warden. “Carnations. That’s what he left in place of the heart. The flower of the gods… fitting really.”

Faust kind of admired the handiwork that went into orchestrating the whole thing. “And if what I’ve heard is correct, the puzzle piece has something to do with his connection to you Molly. By my reckoning, he virtually ripped this woman’s heart out with his bare hands.” The ferocity. The rage and anger… no passion that went into doing this to someone. More importantly. How did he find someone who looked just like Molly. “I’d really like to run fingerprints. Obviously facial recognition won’t do us much good in this case.”

Catherine looked at Molly for a moment, contemplating on making a snarky comment, but then changed her mind. "Really? I can't believe you're still calling him that." She said shaking her head. The moniker had never occurred to her, despite being just a bit taller than her nephew, and Molly herself being even taller than her. "Go get dressed Molly, and if you want I'll wait till the cleaning crew comes to leave." Catherine said turning her attention back to the present.

"Flower of the gods? That's really pushing it." Few if any knew how little love Catherine held for Gods of any religion really. "And finger prints? What are you going to get them off? The corpse?" She asked, not caring much for the how, but really the why. Catherine would have to ask the Director just what exactly Faust was supposed to be doing for them when she got back to the office.

Molly nodded. "Please." she murmured and then slipped into the other room, to put on her gym clothes. She always felt strongest in them, even if it was super dorky to say so. It didn't take more than a minute. She was used to having to change very quickly. The officer felt more herself, and stepped back out, and put on a pot of coffee before looking the scene over, uncertain. "Pink and White Carnations. I will never forget you and endearment." She wrinkled her nose, in clear distaste.

"Well. At least it's not forget me nots or tulips." That would have been annoying. She looked over...herself...and frowned, trying to ignore the gore. "Doesn't look like she was killed here. And even if she looked like me, there's some differences. She has a lot less muscle tone. Her hair is slightly shorter too." Not much, but Molly knew her own hair well. "You know, Catherine, Nequam, I think I'm going to have nightmares of seeing myself laying dead for awhile. I should invest in a nice vicious to strangers dog." Something huge. Maybe a mastiff of some sort.

She was rambling. And actually calling Catherine by name, which wasn't something she often did at work. Molly preferred people to use last names at work, normally. Damn.

“I have a suspicion that Molly, and…” Fighting the urge to say Molly Two, he forced himself to hide a grin. “The victim have the same fingerprints. Don’t ask me how or why, it’s just something that I believe is worth looking into. Everything else about the pair is almost identical. I just need to be sure…” He could sense the Wardens snarky tone with him, and he couldn’t help but snicker as he began to presume exactly what was on her mind. “You’re probably asking yourself why I’m here. Well, the answer to that is simple. I have a Ph.D in forensic psychology and spent the last ten years in Britain solving some of its most difficult cases. If you can find someone who knows how to profile a criminal better than me, by all means.”

Hardly having noticed that Molly stepped out, he was kind of taken back by how beautiful she was. Though, he’d never made a habit of dating a woman taller than he was. “I got a feeling a dog wouldn’t stop this Malik guy. To be perfectly honest, I’m not sure what would. But I’m willing to do whatever I can to find out.”

"No, actually I'm wondering more so what psychologist in their right mind carries latex gloves and a small surgical kit with them at all times." Catherine said bluntly, having little tolerance for bullshit. Everything would be sent off to the lab, and she'd let them summarize it all. Though she did suspect there was a significant amount of magic involved somehow, there always was. "Well, no one is certain what will or won't stop Malik." She replied thoughtfully.

It had been difficult to get a read on anything in that strange world Molly had dragged her off to, and now all she could tell about the apartment was it was unwarded. "Unless you know anything about ancient magics, interdimensional travel, and magic in general. I suggest you stick to your job Faust, and not poke your nose where it doesn't belong."
