Thanks to her gift, Mercy is charisma personified. Her words possess an almost hypnotic ability, and she is able to bend people to her will. Well, not quite. Her Gift doesn't quite go as far as to melt the will of those she uses it into putty, rather, she can tempt them, trick them, and convince them. The stronger one's will power, the less effect her ability will have, although even the most steadfast of individuals will find her requests and urges extremely tempting to abide to, and her lies remarkable convincing. She is also omnilingual, a master of all languages known to man, which comes in handy, seeing as she is prone to globe-trotting.

Mercy is of average height for a woman her age, perhaps about 5'5", with a slender build.

It is clear to all that Mercy is a very attractive young woman, with many physically desirable qualities most popular in this day and age. Her fair complexion and slender frame hint at her noble status, and her chocolate locks are often tied into illustrious yet slightly wild styles atop her head. She is not one to dress unfashionably, and although not necessarily 'vain', she does put effort into her looks where it counts, and hates to look unpleasant or unrefined.

{ PERSONALITY }
Mercy is not a cruel woman, although she can be very blunt, and prefers to be brutally honest that soften truths with white lies. She disguises her sensitivities and insecurities with a strong and somewhat distasteful no-care attitude, acting how she wants, where she wants, when she wants. Although she is often invited as her father's daughter to regal events and social gatherings, she is not at all impervious to the mutters and gossips that thrive around her presence, and responds to such taunts with sharp wit and cold sarcasm. However, if one is to insult her mother, her cool exterior immediately becomes hot as an iron, and her temper and the actions resulting from it are bound to scorch whomever is nearby. That being said, with her 'Silver Tongue', she can be very charming and likable, able to impress even the most pompous and arrogant of characters if given the chance. She is intellectual, but cares not for 'dull' things such as politics and law, and prefers wandering in the open air to sitting poised in an elegant room. She is a free spirit at heart, but her temper and recklessness can often get the better of her, as can her knack for pissing off wealthy ladies and gentlemen with not-so-subtle sarcasm, matter-of-fact insults and a heavy dose of wit. She is bold and courageous, but can't open up very well, and prefers to hide away her personal dilemmas than share. Despite her seemingly unlimited charisma, Mercy has little to no friends to speak of, and is all too used to being stabbed in the back by individuals she previously trusted.

History
Mercy was born to the great Lord Donovan, a man of prestige, wealth and pride.... and his mistress, the low-class but beautiful Vera Olivier, and because of this, grew up under the scornful eye of others. Her blood was 'dirty', 'tainted', and she lived being told this day after day. Nonetheless, her mother, Vera, loved her dearly, and her father... well, he tolerated her, allowing the pair to remain in the manor rather than throwing them out the moment her learnt of Vera's pregnancy. Mercy hated being looked down upon, but her mother's love satisfied her enough, and even with her low class, she had great wealth, and a future set for her.
Until, tragically, Vera fell fatally ill, and passed away when Mercy was ten years old. Mercy was from then on cared for by hired help. Nannies, governesses and servants. Her father did not give her the time of day, and when he married the year following Vera's death, Mercy was asked not to attend the wedding. The woman he married was also beautiful, the daughter of the famous Lord Devon, and she came with two children, twins, just as vile in temperament and pompous in personality as their mother. Lenora's previous husband had been a well-known lawyer, Elias Gordon, and had passed away from tuberculosis three years prior to Elenora and Dominic's wedding, and Mercy seemed to be the only one to note that she seemed hardly upset when her past husband's tragic fate was brought up.
As the children grew up, Mercy's stepsiblings were spoiled beyond compare, lavished with gifts, jewels, trinkets and clothes, whilst Mercy was kept at arms' length by Lenora, who saw the girl as a stain on her otherwise flawless lifestyle and reputation. Mercy's closest friend, she met whilst in town with Ms Holliway, her governess at that time. The boy's name was Matthias, and he was a errand boy on the great merchant vessel the 'Lady's Promise'. He was enjoyable company, and quickly melted Mercy's icy exterior, and his marvelous stories of the world beyond London intrigued her. And more so? His Iron Touch. He was the Boy with the Frozen Smile, and able to turn ash to snow, and fire to ice with a single thought. For a month he continued to meet Mercy, until one day, he vanished without a trace. The crew of the Lady's Promise were somber, and the people of London spoke in hushed whispers for a day or two. Then the news faded away, and things went back to normal, save for Mercy, who still feels sorrow over her lost companion.
Eleven years later, Mercy has grown up.
