Zeus, born in secret avoided the fate of his brothers and sisters thanks to his mothers intervention. To merely have the child in secret was not enough to save him however for Kronos expected a child to swallow so Zeus mother Rhea took a stone and wrapped it in the baby Zeus' blanket and handed it over to Kronos. Without a second thought Kronos swallowed the wrapped stone and once again felt secure in his rule.
As Kronos lorded over the world Zeus grew into a man and a powerful man. As an adult Zeus, now ready to avenge his fathers wicked deeds and seize power from him he set out to destroy him. Knowing he would need allies he went to the most powerful allies he could ever find, his imprisoned brothers and sisters the other Olympians. Zeus crept past the watchful eyes of the Titans and poisoned his fathers nightly cup of mead. This poison does not kill but makes his father violently ill. He begins to vomit and the first thing to come up is the stone his mother had fed him in place of Zeus all those years ago. Then comes the once imprisoned Olympians now fully grown and ready to fight.
The war between the gods and the titans were fierce and nearly tore the world asunder but the mighty Olympians led by Zeus claimed victory. While still the youngest of the gods Zeus, Poseidon and Hades cast lots for the realms each would govern. To Zeus went the highest and most powerful realm, the sky, making him king of the gods. Poseidon claimed dominion over the seas and the eldest, Hades, was sent to lord over the underworld.
As King Zeus was known to be just but temperamental. Prone to flights of carnal passion he rarely stayed home for long and could often be found bedding goddess and mortal women alike. He would do anything and everything he had to to woo those he sought to conquer. His anger was also well documented. Countless times the mortals and the gods have incurred Zeus wrath much to their eternal dismay.
Zeus rules the heavens with his wife Hera, the only one who could possibly be seen as his equal. Their tale is one well known and one that was plagued with conflict, resentment but also love.
