a character in “To Our Deaths”, as played by macheteshark

Description

Asherlin stands approximately 5'10" in height. She has a slim to curvy build and long fiery red hair. She has a light green eyes and a gentle looking face with a constant comforting smile across it. Asherlin wears a dark forest green leather corset and a short deep purple coloured midrift length jacket over the top that is embroidered with gold along the linings. She wears brown tight fitted hunting pants and calf high black buckle up boots. She carries a waist slung knapsack-pouch on her hips and a dark red sash tied around her belt line too. Asherlin carries herself rather modestly. She travels light and so never really has anything on her past her general look. When she walks, it's almost as though she glides across the ground, her tiny frame mirages the tougher persons inside. She constantly has a warming smile across her face and rarely has a negative physical emotion to display, preferring to remain as positive looking as she can.

Personality

Asherlin is a kind hearted woman with an almost fierce motherly attitude towards people. She has a hearty passion for adventuring, but hates being by herself; she is always on the lookout for friends or travellers in need of help or second hand. Asherlin through the most part is a quietly calm and intelligent woman. She speaks her mind openly, but tries to never belittle or hurt another's feelings, preferring the approach of constructive criticisms as opposed to straight out correcting. When she speaks it's always with purpose and conviction, she doesn't like beating around the bush, and prefers honesty and loyalty to lies and manipulation. Almost to a naive fault, Asherlin is a strong believer in the greater good, and ardent that people can change if they come from darker pasts. For the most part, Asherlin is a reserved woman, but when, on the rare occasion she is genuinely angered she is a force to be reckoned with; her temper while usually consistantly cool, when broken is akin to a mother dragon.

Equipment

Asherlin carries a pendant around her neck made from topaz - it gleams a brilliant golden-amber colour in sunlight, and hums a gentle soothing tune in silence.

Asherlin is a hand to hand combat mage; skilled in powerful but short-lasting magic she channels into a sort of close combat fighting style; Asherlin is only able to use fire and earth magic.

History

Asherlin is a woman born from a unique familial background. Her mother was a witch of fire & earth, a woman who had the unique ability to conjure and manipulate fire & the earth around her. Her mother taught Asherlin as best she could about the importance of respect for magic and it's handling, stating often to her when she was a girl that "Magic is a gift, not a right". Asherlin learnt from a young age the spells and incantations her mother knew of, but never seemed to be able to perfect them, often only being able to use her magical gift for short periods of time. Frustrated, Asherlin often swore against the use of magic and often felt cheated that she possessed the ability to use it, but hated that she was unable to use it well, as a result for a while she lost interest in magic.

Asherlin's father was a brawling adventurer; a man of hand to hand combat and strong in will. When Asherlin began to wane in her interest with magic, her father saw an opportunity to teach his daughter all he knew about hand to hand fighting. Surprisingly Asherlin learned quickly about hand to hand fighting. Her father was impressed by her and further taught Asherlin the importance of speed and agility. As Asherlin grew and became stronger as fighter, her magic began to strengthen too. It wasn't long before Asherlin discovered she had the ability to control her magic best while she fought.

At age 18 Asherlin had created an artform she named hand to hand magic - a skill in where a spell caster used short range magic and coupled it with hand to hand combat. Asherlin was finally able to channel her short bursts of magic in a more powerful way. Her ability to manipulate fire and earth while fighting quickly and with agile made for the perfect hand to hand combat. Where her lack of physical strength came into play, her magic was able to provide the punch she needed to back her up.

It didn't take Asherlin long to realize her dream of leaving her father and mother in pursuit of adventure. As a child she had always been in trouble for wandering too far from her home. Constantly wandering through the forest in search of something new to see, Asherlin's parents knew the day would come when all they had taught her would not be enough for her. When Asherlin was 20 she bid her parents goodbye and began her life as an adventurer.

Asherlin spent two years adventuring through a great forest, honing her skills and growing in mental and magical strength; when feeling ready to return home and share her accomplishments with her family she was met with unfavourable circumstances - Asherlin's parents were killed. It was a cold wintery day when she returned to her homestead to find it burnt to the ground and the skeletons of her mother and father within the decaying ashes. She wandered the remnants of the house and found the long dead bodies of her mother and father within the corner of the house, amidst the ashes of her once home. A group of bandits had raided her home it seemed, demanded something of her parents and then destroyed her life when they had received what they'd come for. Asherlin angered and distraught by what she saw sought the culprits who had destroyed her life...

It took her a year to find the bandits who had killed her mother and father and burnt her home to the ground, and her anger was fiercer than ever. She snuck up on them in the night. Finding them camped within the hills of a mountain one night. Month had been spent searching for information about these people, months of information that surfaced that made Asherlin's anger burn brighter every day. When Asherlin snuck into their leaders tent and pinned him to his bed with a simple knife she looked him in the eyes and made him recount the story of her parent's murder. It had been nearly a year and half after their deaths when Asherlin found her home destroyed, and so it was to no surprise to her that two and half years later the bandit leader had no recollection of Asherlin's house and family's murder. Asherlin, enraged with anger used her magic to burn the leader to ashes and set fire to their camp in a one woman blaze of fists and fire.

After her self served justice Asherlin vowed to travel the world and help those that needed it. A woman of intense emotions, she now channels her past sorrows into positives energies, stating often that she feels her parents would rather her be positive than hateful or mournful. So now she wanders, a woman of the roads, an adventurer for hire constantly seeking her next adventure and next destination.

So begins...

Asherlin trod along with a slowing pace. Walking for several days now was beginning to wear on her, she needed to rest for at least a few hours. Her being alone at the moment wasn't that good on her morale either; an ever social person, the moments she had alone never sat well with her. She moved about the people around her, searching the street for somewhere to rest a while and that's when she spotted it- The Black Lantern - "Thank you!" she huffed to herself as trudged to it's doors and gently pushed passed a few drunkards and towards the bar.

Asherlin put an elbow to the bar, trying to look as casual as ever as she glanced around the Black Lantern. Everyone here seemed to be some sort of beyond drunk except for two people for the moment that Asherlin could see; a young blonde woman and from the angle Asherlin stood, she could see the branded X on her shoulder, "Huh" Asherlin mumbled to herself, noting the obvious lack of any other scar or mark on the visible parts of the woman. Asherlin turned to the bar man and ordered a pint, licking her lips as she pulled out a few coins and laid them on the bartop. She then turned back to watch the woman and her company again, this time drying to discern her companion this time. Dark crimson robes and almost jet black hair, Asherlin couldn't see his face, but his pale-olive complexion made Asherlin curious as to what his face actually looked like. Asherlin however felt some sort of unease looking at the man from her current position. Suddenly her necklace glowed as she concentrated on the man more and Asherlin looked down, signifying to her that the man was also a user of magic. "Interesting" she mumbled again to one as the bar man sat her drink down.

Asherlin took a swig of her pint, all the while absentmindedly watching the two talk as she spied on them. Suddenly a gruff looking man turned to Asherlin and began to talk, "Hey little princess, what you doin' in here all alone?" Asherlin turned to the man and looked at him, but rolled her eyes and looked away. The gruff man displeased with her non-interest grabbed her by the wrist and pulled Asherlin closer, "I said, what you doin' here all alone?" Asherlin looked him right in the eyes and said, "Not interested" and attempted to walk away but this time the man grabbed either side of her arms and shook her violently. "No one in here ever refuses Ormand you little wench!" he yelled atop the raucous.

The bar went silent for a moment and the man - Ormand - swung Asherlin around again so his face was inches away from hers. "Well, Ormand" Asherlin said matter-of-factly "Get you filthy hands off me or else" The patrons around Asherlin and Ormand were still quiet, a careful eye kept in case anyone needed to step in. Ormand spoke loudly and angrily, "You wanna go little girl?" he asked sarcastically, a hearty laugh bellowing from his chest as his friends chimed in to taunt Asherlin, "What are you gonna do if I don't let you go?" Asherlin kept eye contact with Ormand and narrowed her eyes speaking sternly this time to the gruff man, "Let go or else." Another roaring bout of laughter from Ormand and others at the bar filled the room and Ormand asked mockingly, "Or else what?" Asherlin rolled her eyes again and sighed "I warned you Ormand..."

Suddenly Asherlin's body twisted like lightening and her small frame was out and under from Ormand's grip. Bowing backwards and standing back up, Asherlin brought her feist back and suddenly a ball of fire encased it. She swung her fist forward and it landed right into Ormand's gut, causing him to reel over winded and gasping in pain as the fire around her fist seared through his clothes and left a tender red mark on his exposed stomach. Then Asherlin pulled her fist back again and another ball of fire appeared and she brought it back to connect with Ormand's face, knocking him over, and this time singing his beard almost completely off.

The bar around Asherlin and Ormand went quiet and Asherlin stood there in a stance ready to fight anyone else who tried anything with her. Ormand's friends were silent and when Asherlin saw she'd won her right to stay at the bar she stood straight and said, "I warned him" to the stunned men. Suddenly another roar of laughter filled the air and Asherlin returned to her pint at the bar top and resumed her carefuly watch over the table that seemed to capture her interest so eagerly.

Gerrard Boselph

Gerrard spent the last few moments with his eyes scanning across the entirety of the mob within the Black Lantern, his vision did fix back on Remi when he was done. Being in a far away land from his home and the fact that it was more ominous to him then most other places to be was another fact all together.
He could glance from side to side and see that many of the other patrons were indulging in different games of chance around the edges of the room, some could be seen playing a type of card game while one group in the back had pairs going head to head with finger roulette.

A sight snapped in the side of Gerrard's vision, causing him to avert his gaze as best he could to see what was going on.

A woman was standing at the bar and peering through the crowd he could see that she was far and away different from the others, in fact she bore a visage more akin to Remi and himself. Her form fitting outfit spoke loudly of an inner will and she had a style that was all her own with fiery red hair that wicked around as she moved.
Gerrard easily noticed then what had gotten his actual attention, she was being accosted by a rather large man and it was his barking that spoke out what was happening.

"Get you filthy hands off me or else" she commanded back when he grabbed her for a second time and Gerrard could find nothing more interesting then this moment, then he thumped his nails on the table towards Remi. "I think we are about to witness something very interesting.."
The man returned words back with the woman and in fact it was something of a inside joke with the crowd because they seemed to think she was the fool rather then the oafish man lumbering in front of her.

"I warned you Ormand..." Gerrard squinted one eye as if he were watching a crash in the making when the lightning sparked up and she twisted away from him. The resulting strikes that resounded through his frame and extremities as he took the first impact in stride, however the second was a bit too much for him and his fall was rather advantageous of a sight to see.
The whole of the crowd was silent and then after that tense moment they busted out with laughter and jubilation, Gerrard leaned back in his seat with a small grin on his face for having witnessed such a spectacle clapping his hands lightly.

Regaining herself from her short stint of combat the woman looks dead at the table where Gerrard and Remi sat. He raised his cup for a moment in like a small congratulatory manner before beckoning her over with his other hand.

He looked at her for a moment until he caught the man moving once more out of the corner of his eye and Gerrard smirked once again keeping eye contact with the young woman. Emptying his wine into his cup as much as possible he drinks the remaining liquid from the bottle and points at her with it, motioning with it before setting it on the floor.

(keep your eye on the bottle)

As the large man begins to strain to stand Gerrard knocks the bottle over with his foot which sets it on a roll. While keeping his attention on the man Gerrard could only guess that his saving grace was either his mass or his thick head, either way he would not like what was about to happen.
With a slight touch of telekinetic steering the bottle dodges the legs of tables and patrons alike on the way to its destination. Ormand as he was called, retrieved a knife from his belt took a large stride to strike the woman from the side. To which Gerrard flicked his wrist and the bottle spun on its neck almost as if it were turning on a joint. Ormand's boot landing solidly on the side of the rather thick wine bottle was not able to support for balance and his over extended step sent his legs forward and his body high into the air. Loosing the knife and flailing all his limbs in surprised panic, this could not do much to assist in his fall as he came down hard on a table sitting next to the bar making more of a spectacle of himself.

The crash itself shook the bar and made the floor thump with a loud rattle which made the barkeep yell out.."Oi.. Get him out of here.." Two of the patrons who most likely were friends of the fallen idiot began to help him up and cart his unconscious body out of the door.
The bottle however began to roll away towards the bar and hopped off the floor landing in a wooden waste bin.

Asherlin had managed to catch the eye of table she was so interested in. The man who's face she hadn't seen before was suddenly in full view, his pale olive complexion, a welcoming grin and a motion of raising his glass then a casual beckoning for Asherlin to come forth. Asherlin finished her pint, slammed it down on the table, stepped over the unconscious Ormand and began to walk towards the man and blonde woman. Asherlin had barely made it a quarter of the way when suddenly a loud thud sounded behind her. Asherlin turned to see the oaf Ormand back on the ground and the barman shouting for his removal. Asherlin went to turn back towards the table she was moving to but a voice suddenly spoke to her over the raucous. "Nice ass kicking short one, how'd you manage that?" Asherlin saw his feet before the rest of the man that towered above the rest. As her head rose her eyes widened and her jaw dropped slightly in awe of this man's size, "Wow..." she muttered sizing him up, "You're HUGE.. I've never seen someone like you!" then Asherlin bit her lip realising she was gawking... "Uh sorry" she stuttered with some embarrassment, "I er... I knocked him out" she said matter-of-factly, watching as Ormand's friends carried him away. Asherlin realised she was meant to be going to introduce her to the gaunt man and blonde woman, "Uh... If you get lonely... come find me over there.." she said pointing to her destination table, suddenly wondering why she'd invited the hulking man.

Asherlin turned from the giant man and briskly walked to the table before pulling a nearby chair up to the table and sitting down. Asherlin smiled politely then introduced herself, "Asherlin. Nice to meet you" she said nodding in the blonde woman's then the gaunt man's direction. "I couldn't help but stare..." she said, "Sorry" she continued apologetically. "When I first came in... My eyes were immediately drawn to you two" Asherlin thought she better make sense of her spying, "Mostly because of you" she said nodding to Gerrard, "I can tell you use it..." she said, wryly hinting at his ability to use magic, "But how you use it... well that's another story isn't it" she said with a smile. Asherlin looked to the girl, "You look familiar" she stated as she looked into Remi's eyes, "Have we met before?". Asherlin motioned to the bartender and he nodded. "I know this may sound rather forward of me..." Asherlin began again, barely allowing for any input from the two others, "But I'm looking for travelling partners... do you need one perhaps?"

'Interesting?' Herself and her company appeared to have very different opinions of such things. Yet again, inside the theif believed her company's interest arrised by the fact it was a female partaking in the event. Seeing as the other woman was still at a distance, Remi felt no threat from it. Instead, the young lady ignored the on goings and disappeared into her drink mindlessly. Being the black market dweller she was, the woman was used to the fighting of close company. Yet, she deemed it best when one member didn't rise after or ever again. Why? It would make them quieter. Selfish motive? Always. Either way, her peddling mind was pushed to action one more when her company seemed to invite the first woman over with his glass. Remi had the urge to mutter something like, 'A woman, Gerrard? I never thought you the type,' or perhaps, 'I don't think she's your best bet, pretty boy.' However, it was too late. Instead, the mage had risen and took his own stand. Remi had no inclination to take up such a venture.

"Looks like I'm alone again. Oh well. Bar maid, another please." She rose her glass and turned to smile at the young man who waltz to her table, obiviously not amused by her taughting on his gender. Yet, did as she commanded. With a new drink and even less motive for action, Remi waited until the table filled once more. This time, it would appear her company's fancy was right in her way. The woman spoke her name and then began her slu of captivating words towards Gerrard. Remi couldnt help but roll her eyes and tadder in her seat. One of her arms resting under her bossom, half crossed, with her left hand free to hold her drink that she was currently drowning in. Her attention flickered to the Tattooed man who had earlier intercepted the red haired woman. She gave him a small flirty smirk and a wink. Her shoulder slightly perked up as she gently grinned towards him teasingly. She needed some attention. Yet, then their little red haired beauty decided to turn her words onto the rogue.

After listenging to the speil she felt even more annoyance. When the woman asked to join their team, it caused Remi to slum farther into her seat. She could just imagine what was going through Gerrard's mind and it made her envious of this new lass which could inspire the most vile words. Yet, Remi held her tongue for the most part. "If we have met, it probably wasn't for the best reasons. Maybe theft, sometimes murder. Mostly black mailing though - so more theft. Either way, not a good thing." She muttered with an obiviousy small patiences, "Either way, it may appear that Gerger here may want more company than a sneaky little street rat - Me, Remi, if you were wondering - so perhaps it may be for the best. What's your thoughts, Mage boy? Got your fancy? Although, strange girl entering to say that she was seemingy destined to venture with us allows for some suspicion. Trickery or trust?" It was almost a snarl.

Remi was getting terribly unruley inside. She loved having the attention on her but this woman had charged in to make all the men swoon. It was disgusting. She had disliked this woman even before she knew her name. If Remi woud call her anything, it would be Floosey; however, that would just be her private name for her. Externally, slugger from how she 'slugged' the large man. It made sense to her and would be a socially accepted term. 'Still...the little floosey.'

Gerrard Boselph

Gerrard sat back down in his seat when the young woman came near and lifted his cup of wine to his lips again, his eyes did catch the strange effect such attention was having on Remi as she slowly began to lower herself into her own chair. She had the look as though she was pandering a volley of ideas around in the base of her mind but Gerrard could not really place the look on her face too well.

But what really caught his attention was the frankly gargantuan man that walked in through the door of the tavern, most of the other patrons either avoided looking at him while some of the others managed to steal a look from time to time. Gerrard knew of his kind from the far north but up that way they were known as the Dredge and had a somewhat barbaric reputation, but this mans markings and demeanor spoke entirely different volumes as Gerrard looked on.

The woman popped back into Gerrard's view as she came to the side of the table.

She introduced herself as Asherlin and the first thing that came to Gerrard's mind was that the name sounded strangely foreign, even to his ears. She even made it more obvious that she was prying her attention towards their table becuase the two of them caught her attention more so then the others in the tavern, but more frankly it was because of Gerrard sitting there and she pointed out that he was a mage.
This made him smile, the fact that she thought that was a very reletive fact about her and him but in his mind there was far more to himself then either her or any other could know without his consent.
She did have an interest in Remi despite her predisposition towards Gerrard and it was certain by the look on her face that Remi wasn't really having anything to do with the conversation from her end. Gerrard could see an almost pouting look cross her face as she sank deeper in her seat and bubbled a sly response in the base of her mug.

Gerrard leaned in and stared at Remi in the face for a moment until her wandering eyes met his and he gave her an equally sly smile as he proclaimed.. "Awww.. that is quite a cute side to you, miss Remi" He could tell that she was used to being more the center of things even before they first spoke in this tavern, her body language spoke volumes about it as she tried to displace herself in the current situation.

If that wasn't enough for the situation, the creaking of floorboards and the sound of thumping footsteps helped forecast the arrival of the large Goliath from before who spoke with Asherlin. He was even more boisterous then his look would claim and it was easy to tell that even though he was rather loud he did at least carry himself with a deep self respect and assurance of his own abilities.
The man spoke of the same fact that he to was looking for someone to travel with, and Gerrard almost laughed into his own cup when he thought of the coincidence of the situation and how everything could so easily lead up to this.

Gerrard looked several times between the two and then set his gaze on Remi as he locked eyes with her again.. "Well you both seem to present a tempting offer, however I don't thing the choice is really up to my say." He took the last long drink of his cup and emptied it before looking back at Remi once again.
"What do you think?.. Boss" He gave her a small yet assertive wink at the end just to punctuate his words.

It cared little to the rogue when Gerger made his comment about her 'cute' side, which was evidently her quiet and annoyed side. Obvious sarcasm. The woman either far too drunk or far too emotional to be caught up in his pity comment. Instead she would glare at him before looking off and pulling her drink to her lips again. 'Whatever. I don't even like guys with long hair anyways. All pompus and uppity.' She cooed silently to herself, shaking her shoulders as in reply to her mental conversation. Inside she juggled the idea of formulating scenarios in which she could escape this hell of a bar. Let the two mages indulge in one another as she played with the war dogs back in her little shack. They would appreciate her, even worship her if she brought them a few bones from the dump. But the thought passed away when a rather large man approached their table.

It would appear the stranger came to offer his help as well. He at least seemed like a more viable partner for Remi. They needed a front man who she could hide behind in battle if ever the need arose. He was a pass in her mind but her nature against floosey still existed. Even when she was hit by another wave of sarcasm by her first member of company, Remi felt no love for the second mage. "Well boss says that if you, nameless man of grand stature, will pumble the last breath from this lass if she steps outta line, you're both in. But when I mean pumble, I mean to death. No more breath allowed." Her feelings were blunt with her statement. Remi even took the brief joy of imaging such a beating on the pretty little red head as she took another swig of beer. It was at the point where she couldn't even taste the alcohol any longer. This was usualy when her own 'flirty' genes came out, but not so long as her mood kept down. If it were to continue, the little lady would most likely fall into a small depression, followed by weeping and then bathing in her keep-sake of stolen treasures at the shack. She prayed it would not.

Remi tried to change her mood by welcoming the large brute - and floosey - into their little bergade as she rose from her chair. Yet, when her hands left the table after pulling herself up she felt her weight shift and pull her to one side. Her hands flung themselves back down to grab onto the wood and steady herself. "Well, I, I welcome you. Yes." She managed a smile from her previously confusedly featured face as she continued to keep herself on two feet, "Sorry, hit me a little harder on the way up. Well, er, yes. Welcome to our deaths! A toast! To the days we will see, the ones we won't." She had a closed mouth smirk at this point as things were still spinning. Remi managed to get her half empty glass up and out before her. "As well, I promise this drunken state is one of a rarer time. Bluntly put, I will be sober by 'morrow. Yes, 'morrow when we set out. Ferinall is the destined destination. Yes." She was interupted by her body swaying to the other side as she grabbed back onto to table. She had not been this intoxicated in a long while. The thief knew she shouldn't have had so much by herself before hand. Drinking away problems was a terrible thing to do indeed. Or so she felt embarressedly as the woman stumbled back into her seat.

She didn't feel sick, no that wasn't the problem, just dizzy. She needed sleep. "Escorting a band of tortured men - no, not tortured by me, silly - but a band all the same. To the home of the beastmaster where I will relieve all guilt of our former party members. Should I have said that? Too late now. I'm sure we will fare much better. An easier task to be taken first. Must smarter. Whoever chose the last one was rather dumbfounded. I blame you, Gerger. Lock and key - and I know locks and keys." She smirked rather slyly. She was at that talkative stage - God help them all. "If it's all the same to you - wait, large man, what's your name? It's hard to address you all individually if I havn't a name."

Asherlin was taken aback when the woman -Remi- told the giant man to quite directly and knowingly instruct him to essentially kill Asherlin if she got in the way. Asherlin's jaw parted slightly in the horror of the woman's word, they sounded so sincere. Asherlin smiled weakly at her then to Gerrard and to the giant man; Asherlin laughed weakly but replied with a firm "You've got nothing to worry about...I can handle myself." Asherlin looked to Grishnakh and winked coyly at him, "I may be a quarter your size but I promise I won't kill you..." she laughed a little then turned back to Remi to continue her questioning of where she thought she knew Remi from, "Huh.." she said matter-of-factly as she recalled Remi's comments. "I've travelled with thieves before... But I feel like I know you some other way. Maybe you stole from me once" Asherlin said with a cheeky nudge to Remi. When Remi seemed to become more curt, Asherlin fell silent as she listened to the rest of the conversation.

Asherlin looked to Gerrard when Remi it seemed had lost whatever interest she had had in passively agressively speaking to Asherlin. "Welcome Grishnakh!", she said with a warm smile as the man lifted up a barrel from nearby and held it up gulping an impressive and almost frightening amount of alcohol down. Asherlin turned to Gerrard as the other two preoccupied themselves with alcohol and leaned in a little closer, "So, Gerger" she said with a smile, "May I ask what part of the er...art you dabble in?" Asherlin brought a hand up to her clavicle where the necklace sat glowing. Remi looked down at it and her eyes widened when it began to emanate a soft warmth. As Gerrard spoke her eyes darted upwards and around the room and she caught sight of a man healing the hands of the barman. "Well well well" she said with another smile crossing her face, "It might sound like the start of a bad joke but... We have another mage in here.. and he can use healing magic!" Asherlin stood up and looked across the floor, "That's him... I just saw him use it... Plus my necklace told me" Asherlin said with an eager look towards the man; she'd never met someone who could perform healing magic before.

Gerrard Boselph

Gerrard gave a small grin at the words Remi cast towards Asherlin, though he knew that her words had some merit it was most likely because of her inebriated state of mind. That and the fact that she was chomping at the bit for some entertainment for herself and at anyone's expense.
His grin cut halfway when Asherlin called him by the alcohol doodled name that Remi used on him earlier and his face went blank with a beguiling expression when she question what kind of a mage he was. "Does it matter?" He fired back with a quickly chirped smile "It should be okay to know that I hail from the sorrow peak holds far in the north.. and so do my teaching."

Her reaction from what he said could not be seen however, she had already noticed a person near the bar who could use magic as well and he leaned in with Remi for a second to get her ear. "She's rather easy to distract isn't she?" he leans back and pulls out a thin crystal pipe from his satchel also retrieving tobacco from a small pouch next to it.

"No matter it shouldn't be a problem.. just don't let her watch your back while a lock needs picking and everything should be fine. Although.. you could have me do it.." He gives Remi a sly smile like she shot at him earlier in an attempt to pull a response from her.
But it was their new addition in the form of a giant of a man who could chug mead with best of them, that made Gerrard wonder about how this would bode for their chances in a cramped space like the last mission.

"So.. Grishnakh.."
"Are you capable of combat in tight areas?"
"Because the last time we fought it was nowhere near the room needed for man of your size. "

Morrin stands from his spot and takes his drink in hand. "Thanks for the offer, I'll take you up on that. Just make sure my friends here are on that as well." Morrin walks over and sits next to Asherlin, "I'll take this here spot if you'll allow me to join your group. From the sounds of it you could use what skills I could provide." Morrin looked to each of the group, his actions and voice still completely void of emotion as always. "From how this fine lady here sounded you could use someone to help with healing. Granted my healing magic is not perfect when used in conjunction with my herbalist knowledge I can prove to be quite the effective healer. Granted that is not my only asset to you four, but that is a game changer in many cases."

Morrin sat his glass down, no sound escaping it at all. "If you must know a name to call me by then please use Morn. From what I can tell we have a man of stone named Grishnakh, a rouge thief who is currently drunk, an arrogant playboy mage, and fairly energetic inquisitive and nosy mage. I mean no offence, after all I fit in quite well into this little mix." Trying to decipher what Morrin meant by what he said as he faced each in turn as he described them would be in need of a mind reader he is so void of emotion. It was more like talking to a robot with a mind of its own than a person.

After the dark colored scheme of his clothes and pointed ears the most notable thing about Morrin was the fact that his eyes were covered with a cloth. From what anyone could tell where his eyes should be are completely covered by a cloth. Normally this would effectively make someone blind, which would make it pretty much impossible to know who was where, let alone not run into anything while walking.

"Excuse me?" Asherlin snapped after listening to the newcomer mage. "Watch the way you talk to others." she scolded, "I might be inquisitive, and sometimes distracted.." he gaze turned to Gerrard, then her eyes fell upon Remi, "But I'm not incompetent, I don't get in the way, and just because I tend notice my surroundings more often than others doesn't mean I'd ever let my guard down when travelling with someone." Asherlin took a deep breath and heaved out a long sigh as she stood up and glared at the table around her. "Contrary to what it seems most people think, I can handle myself and you" she said openly to everyone in the group.

Asherlin grunted in annoyance and turned behind her to grab a pint off a nearby table and took a swig and gave a glare to the man who seemed to be annoyed at her for stealing his drink. "Don't even" she said as she fished in her pockets and pulled out a coin and threw it on his table. "Here... that should cover it" she muttered as she turned back to the group. "And you" she said looking back to Remi, "Stop ordering him to hit us whenever you get irritated, he's not your personal weapon." she said as she looked to Grishnakh. Asherlin held her breath as Remi it seemed was in her own world as she asked Gerrard to take her home. She spoke to the group and said a little groggily, "Any of those heading out with us tomorrow, meet at the doors of this bar tomorrow at sunbreak. You're late, you're left behind. Good lick, gentlemen and slugger." Asherlin rolled her eyes and turned to the rest of the group, "I'll be off too.. see you tomorrow everyone."

Gerrard Boselph

It was easy to see for Gerrard that the rest of the group was not going to be lacking in spirit and that this would be a rather interesting occurrence for them all. Even though he wasn't really sure about the cohesion of such a unit of combatants it was still going to be a quest in itself to figure out just where everyone stood.
He just had some off feelings about some small things rather then worries and he could only speculate inside his head about what would happen when everything finally got rather hectic and everyone was finally thrown into the heat of combat, it would be up to them at that point to figure out how best to work together and with Remi being this way around Asherlin it would be more vital that this ends well.

Gerrard was rather surprised to see that the healer was an elf of some sorts but that was cast aside when Gerrard heard him talk. It was something about the vary air of him as well, something was off that didn't present itself right and he wasn't sure if Morin knew that as well. But under all the facts of this he did seem to be rather competent in his movement and he held himself rather well which gave a sense of confidence all its own.

He looked off to the side to see Remi flinging her drunken eyes around for a moment before landing them of Gerrard and he smiled back at her.. at least she was enjoying herself in her state of inebriation.
"I'd be worried you'd jump my bones, magic man." Gerrard caught a chuckle in the back of his throat as she slurred off after her sentence for a moment, he was going to do his best not to answer that since she was in such a state.
But Gerrard stands when its apparent that the young woman has reached her fill for the night of alcohol and she implores after Gerrard for a moment.."Gerger, saaaave me. Bring me home." It still can summon the thought of laughter, such a woman acting so helpless and in need of his help.

Gerrard takes his pipe from his lips and stuffs out the fire inside before knocking out the ashes at the side of the table, doing his best to make the transition clean he still knows that its someone's job to clean up after him and puts the pipe back in his satchel while leaving the ash on the floor.
Being as gentle with the young woman that his honer dictates he helps with her rise from the chair, bring her left arm over himself in order to support her better.

Gerrard looks to the others as he holds Remi at his side.. "Well.. Goodnight to the rest of you, I am going to tend to my friend here and see the rest of you in the morning."
He drops three silver on the table as a part of the tab when he walks Remi away doing his best to make sure she doesn't catch someone on the shoulder. After a short walk past the door man Gerrard's face was licked by the cold night air, despite being mildly cold to start it wasn't really anything he hadn't felt before being from where he was. Unfortunate the fact was that Remi was now slumped over and he could not get much of a response from her as her head remained down and so Gerrard lowered his arm and scooped up her legs cradling the girl in his grasp.
He had a small fit with her hair as the wind changed hands and decided to slap him in the face with her bangs.

He carried her around the side of the Black Lantern and began to make his way up an flight of stairs that where a lantern hung over the frame of the door. Since Remi wanted him to take her home he was fine with the idea, but since he didn't know where she was staying and did not want to pry he decided that she could keep company in his room that he thankfully paid for three days. As he turned at the top of the stairs he enters a door leading into the second floor above the tavern and thankfully with little effort gets to his room without knocking her head on any of the door frames.

The room is sparsely furnished but well lit and there is still a fire burning away in the stove at the edge of the space it held. Despite being on the small side it was easy to move about and Gerrad carries Remi over towards the bed, placing her on the mattress after pulling back the covers.
He takes a moment to look at his little friend as she looks rather innocent compared to the way she usually acts, even though there still remains some redness below her cheeks and nose due to the drink. Gerrad slides her footwear off and brings the sheets over her, slowly moving his eyes across her form to ensure her comfort. Sliding the covers all the way up over her arms he back off from the bed and decides it would be best to let her sleep seeing as she is the one who will be needing it.

Gerrard backs towards the wall and pulls the only chair in the room over to himself and sits on its hard wooden body, the seat is stiff to him. More so then the chairs in the tavern and he is brought back to the idea of heading off in the morning with their new companions in tow.
Retrieving his pipe once more and lights it with a small stick from the stove, sitting back in his seat Gerrard watches over Remi for the time being. Thanks to his condition he doesn't require sleep like the others normally would, seeing as since his last mission he still has a few extra lives running around in his body.

Asherlin turned the corner and saw a few people of her new group outside the Black Lantern. She took a deep breath, pausing to see the rogue girl and the mage from last night too. Asherlin rolled her shoulders backwards and cracker her neck to the side. Sleeping outdoors like she normally did was wonderful to her, being able to see the sky at night, but it's downfall was - not everywhere was comfortable. Asherlin allowed a smile to cross her face and trudged forwards clearing her throat "Ahem, morning" she said, looking around to the sixteen or so other travellers. Asherlin gave a brief nod to Morrin then turned to Remi, "So... uh, where exactly are we going?" she asked hesitantly, remembering the hostility Remi had shown last night.

Asherlin sized the group up. This many people was sure to attract attention along the roads. This many people, making a group this size, were often good prey for bandits and the like... or worse out on the road. But Asherlin pushed the thought from her mind and introduced herself to the group, although they all seemed unsettled, sick of being where they were. Asherlin shrugged them off and took a place sitting down next to a wall of the Black Lantern waiting for the rest of their group to arrive, hearing loud thuds from inside the 'Lantern.

"Pleasure met miss Remi. You may call me Morn if you wish," Morrin said as he turned towards Remi, his eyes still covered with the cloth. "Take this, it will help to prevent any negative after effects you might come across later from all the drinking last night." Morrin tossed Remi a small grey pill that was made out of various ingredients. "I made it a while ago to help counter the effects of alcohol."

Morrin then turned to Asherlin, "Morning miss mage. Although you were correct last night about me being a healer I am afraid my healing magic alone is not too strong. Thus the reason I use my knowledge over herbs to compliment and complete my healing prowess."

Morrin thought it best to wait for everyone before apologizing for his comments last night in the case they came off as rude.
