All seems well, crime is at a low rate, the economy is boosting and everything appears normal.
Until the murders begin.
Blood drained, bodies torn apart, no trace of who or what did this. Those who are old enough to remember have always feared this day... the day when Vampire return.
Kimura Tatsuo is head of police with a dark secret, but he puts his past aside to track down these creatures. With the help of an reclusive Vampire Slayer, he will restore order to his city.
Haruko Yagyu is the head of one of Tokyo's last remaining Geisha Houses... and the leader of the vampires clan. With humans in her service and beserkers loyal to her, she intends to take Tokyo back for her kind, no matter what the cost.
Seiji and Kiki Tatsuo are twins, the children of Kimura. But on their eighteenth birthday the two of them discover they are Helot, half-vampires, their vampire powers in the forms of two phantoms who accompany them everywhere. Now they want to know who their real mother was... and they must decide whether to live as a vampire or a human.
Kaede is a beserker, a vampire so overcome with rage and bloodlust that she has practically forgotton her humanity. But something is bringing it back slowly... causing great pain for what is left of her soul.
Can these people overcome their personal problems to get what they desire? Or will everything be lost?

Blood... the seductive smell of the drink of the immortals...
Kaede stared down at the young woman below, a young creature just on her way home from work. She could feel the woman's pulse already, hear her heartbeat... smell her blood...
Crawling stealthily across the wall, her worn out bones cracking slightly as she positioned herself directly above the woman. Her ragged breathing tore through the heavy silence, causing the woman to stop.
"Hello? Is someone there?"
So young, so fresh...
With a piercing roar, Kaede flung herself down onto the woman, roughly biting into her neck as she started to drain her blood, the woman's screams like music in her ears.
She'd barely had time to finish when she heard the shriek of sirens.
Police...
Moving quicker than an insect, she scuttled back up the wall and onto the roof-top, making her way back to the geisha house at the very edge of the city.
As she crawled across the roof and down into one of the empty rooms, she became tense. The trouble with living in a place like this, you always felt like you were being watched. And when you rely on animal instinct, that's not a good thing.

The blood of a young male dripped to the wodden floor of the office and each drop shattered as it hit the surface without making a sound. He had an empty look in his eyes and his doll-like body was lifeless as his eyes were. All this witnessed that he was in fact dead. Haruko buried her fangs deeper into his neck to suck out the last few drops of blood he had left before she let go off him causing his body to fall to the ground. It made a large bumping sound and bounced a single time like the rag-doll he had been turned into. Haruko looked at the human with disgust in her eyes before turning her back on his dead body. "Get it out of here. "Put him on a cross for public display at Harajuku station when the sun rises again. The humans need to wake up to terror. It makes their bood even tastier than the sweetest revenge. Besides there has been nothing amusing in the news lately" she said in a cold voice as she sat down by her desk.
Pesky humans thinking they could just keep the city her own clan had been chased out og thousands of years ago. "Foolish creatures" she mumbled as she wiped her lips with a tissue. She hid her fangs and watched as some servants removed the drained human and cleaned up the blood that had dripped onto the floor. Humans... Always bragging about what a great and intelligent race they are, yet they ha dno idea why they were finding murder victims drained for blood. Haruko had laughed one day a criminalist of the older generation had claimed it was to keep them for checking the DNA however even Haruko knew that there were more than one way to get a DNA sample even from a deceased human. Some had even claimed it was the work of wild animals and scientists were trying to make that match up with the victims. "Forever blind to what is in front of them... Foolish" she mumbled and took out her fan. "They were smarter back in the days, but now time has changed and s will the flow of power"

Seiji had stayed afterschool, just to catch up with his work. He rested his head on the desk, staring at the sky as it got darker. "Ah.. I'm tired.." he mumbled before pulling himself up again. Jubei was probably in the back of the room, standing there silently as Seiji worked. The boy looked at his watch and rubbed his eyes. He had finished most of his work, and decided to work on the rest at home. He grabbed all his things, neatly putting them into his bag before walking out of the classroom. Seiji never worried about Jubei, since he knew the demon followed his everywhere. Ever since he found out he was a half-vampire, everything seemed to change. Lately, he hadnt been able to focus in class, thinking about the whole vampire thing.

The school was empty, and the lights were all off. Quietly, Seiji walked out of his school, and headed home. He didnt say anything, he barely did anyways. Kiki was walking down the streets next to her twin. Her hair was currently a light pink and pigtails that were bouncing as she hopped up and down. "Can we please go to the music store?" She asked Seiji, appearing much younger than him. She had a childish temprement that made her seem younger even if they were the same age. "I really, really, really want the new Summer Set CD!" She said. She had heard about an American band that sounded amazing. She was so excited to get their CD's. It would also be an excuse for her to lock herself in her room and her dad not expect her out of it anytime soon... She had heard of a party not too far from their house.

Seiji looked over to his sister and sighed, "You already have a bunch of CDs at home.." he said looking tired. She was 18, just like him, yet she acted like a 5 year old. Why was that? It seemed like Kiki didnt even care about this whole vampire thing either. Knowing she would never stop begging him, Seiji had no choice but to say yes. "Fine... but just for 15 minutes ok? It's getting dark, and you know about the whole...." he trailed off, and decided not to finish the sentence. "And Kiki, try to spend more time with dad... you are his daughter too.." he added, stretching his arms. God he felt so tired today. "And dont spend so much money on your hair. This is the fifth time you changed your hair style."

Kiki twirled a piece of hair around her finger, examining it carefully. "I think pink might be my color, although it makes me look childish," she said, shrugging her shoulders. She glanced down at the demon that had started accompanying her everywhere. "Plus Oyu likes it..." She trailed off as she thought about the rest of what Seiji had said. "Dad never told us we were part vampire. It's not my fault if he lied to us this entire time." She sighed at the end, but didn't regret it. She had done her fair share of lying. By the time they reached the music store it had closed and the night life of Tokyo was beginning to buzz with excitement. "So Seiji, what do you say we embrace this whole 'creature of the night' thing?"

"You act childish either way." he said with a small smile that faded quickly. "He probably had his reasons..." Seiji responded to what Kiki had said about their father. Yes should have told us a bit earlier, but maybe he didnt want their kids to be a monster. Seiji looked back at Jubei who was silently following, before snapping his attention back to his twin. "And being a vampire... isnt something you should be.. happy or proud about. I dont think I'll be embracing anything. You see the news.. people are dying here and there." he said looking down at his feet before swinging his bag over his other shoulder. "Dont take this too lightly.. it isnt a game. Once you mess up, you cant start over." Once seeing the store was closed, he sighed, "Come on lets get going. Being out during the night isnt safe."

Kaede turned her head sharply at the sudden sound.
The smell of blood hit her once more and she felt her animalistic instincts kicking in once more. She heard the sound of footsteps approaching and shrank into the shadows, staring out of the open doorway as the body was carried past. She longed to go after them and tear the body to shreds but some small residual sense of duty told her she had other things to do.
Skulking out into the corridor she made her way along, her dark eyes staring suspiciously at every other vampire she passed. She saw how they looked at her, with disdain, contempt... disgust. They didn't want to believe she was one of their kind.
She made her way to Haruko's office and... just as she reached the door she froze, turning to stare back down the corridor.
Far away, too far for human ears but fine for hers, she heard voices... human and yet... not human...

Ignoring the noise, Kaede slunk into the office, her bones cracking loudly as she bowed in respect to Haruko.
Even when relying on pure instinct, Kaede could easily recognise her superiors and Haruko was someone not to be messed with. She was the more powerful vampire, the leader, and Kaede could not resist the natural submission and obedience she felt towards her.
