Odessa hated the fact that she was going to have to go back to Cameron, not only was Emilio giving her permission to go back to her, but her life was on the line. If Cameron and his brother really were cops and Emilio found out before her, heād kill her no questions asked, sheād be as good as dead. She hadnāt eaten very much, just enough to get the pain in her stomach to go away. She talked to Ava as her and Emilio laughed at the things she said and for a moment, things seemed fairly normal. The trailer door opened again and Dess glanced up to see Mila and gave her a soft smile.
Emilio got up then and grabbed her by her hair and Dessa fought the urge to get up and shove Emilio away from Mila sheād down it on more than one occasion, but she figured it wasnāt in either of their best interests. If not simply because she was already in hot water with him and she didnāt want to associate or get Dess mixed into her problems and have Emilio punish her.
Eventually Fox managed to let talk Emilio into letting her go to sleep, before he sat back down. It was quiet for a long moment, Dessa took the silence to light herself a cigarette. She hated that she couldnāt get Cain or Cameron or whatever his name was off her mind. Last night had been incredible and she hated him for be able to stay on her mind.
āOdessa.ā Emilioās voice was impatient, like heād been trying to get her attention and she lazily turned her gaze to him. āAngel is busy taking care of some
business.ā Dessa knew what that meant, Angel earning blood for his leader. āAnd, Iām going to be busy today, because tonight is the last big raceā¦ā he trailed off taking a hit off his joint heād light and he had Mustangās attention. āWhich means your babysitting.ā He smirked and Dessa was literally shocked. āDonāt do anything stupid though, Iām always watching.ā He said simply as he stood up, he collected a couple things before slipping out of the trailer.
āSoā¦what do ya wanna do?ā she asked and Dessa wasnāt entirely sure what to do, she couldnāt remember the last time Emilio had left her to actually do her job and be a mother.
Max hated himself for already wanting to be back with Mila and it had been less than five minutes. He made his mind up right then and there that he had to get his head back in the case. Heād have to think less about the girl and more about the entirely of it all. Because once they brought Emilio down, he could spend as much time as he wanted with her, if they still liked each other or he was even alive by then. As he slipped into the trailer he noticed his brother, but he didnāt stop, he started towards his room till his brother spoke.
"Just got off the phone." his brotherās words made him pause and turn back to face his brother.
"The chief won't that Kimmy off the case. We're stuck with her." Max held his brotherās eyes.
He wanted to spit some snarky comment at his brother, because he was still pissed about the whole situation. Hearing Kimmyās name alone was painful, but there was nothing they could do. He could have told Cain, the chief wasnāt going to take her off, sheās practically the girl version of him and his brother put together. This case was too huge for them not to put three of the best undercover cops in the business on the case.
"We just can't let her fuck with us." his brother said, placing a hand on his shoulder and pulling Max from his thoughts as he held his brotherās eyes.
"You're my brother, she's just some girl. I'm going to shower, then we'll talk about our next move. Case-wise." he simply nodded in agreement all though he knew it was inevitable with Kimmy in the equation theyād always fight, it was how they worked, it was the only way they knew how to function, because theyād been doing it for so long, but he was honestly too exhausted to fight.
As Cain slipped into the bathroom Max sunk down onto the couch, he lit himself a joint and felt himself start to relax. Once he was finished with the joint, he fell asleep exhausted from the last two nights heād spent with Fox and the little sleep heād gotten.
