The Underworld (land of the dead, hell)

So, Kane thinks to drops off the last of the escaped souls at the processing station, I wonder what my next assignment will be. He heads over to the west wing of Hades' palace where the death-knight reassignment barracks is located. He thinks maybe they will assign me somewhere cushy I could use the brake from all the soul hunts I've been on recently. He pauses on his way to look out a window. He proudly notes that the courtyard is full of his brethren going about their own assignments. He notices how the unlight of the underworld gleams off their armor and thinks don't we look intimidating, no wonder why most souls just give up when we come to collect them. Then he continues on his way.

Upon arriving at the reassignment chamber he approaches the Grand Marshal of the death-knights. Kane says, "Kane Zharov reporting for reassignment." The Grand Marshal looks up from his paper work and says, "Ah good, just the knight I need for this job. You Death-Knight Kane Zharov are hereby assigned to protect Hades daughter. Understood." Kane replies, "Yes Sir." However he thinks great I work hard and they assign me to be an glorified babysitter. Continuing he says, "I will head right over and take up my duties."

With that He leaves the reassignment camber and heads toward the royal wing of the palace.

"But daddy!" protested Death. She didn't want no babysitter, but her father continued to insist. "All right daddy, whatever you say daddy."

Upon arriving at the throne room Kane pauses out side the door to listen to what is going on inside. He chuckles and thinks, so she does not want a babysitter, good I don't want to babysit this might be interesting after all. Best not to keep them waiting. He opens the doors to the throne room and enters. He notices Lady Death is standing near her father beside the his throne. The throne sits on a raised dais of obsidian, as he approaches it his armored boots click on the black marble of the floor. upon arriving at the base of the dais, Kane draws his rune blade Leviathan, sinks to one knee, bows his head, and says,"Death-Knight Kane Zharov reporting to assume his duties, your majesties."

"Well assume her then." Hades said pointing casually to his daughter. A skeleton messenger dressed in renassance clothing gave him an envelope. Upon opening it he groans, "Asopel Fields are overcrowded again. Looks like I'll have to leave you two. Be a good girl." he says to his daughter and waves his hand. He disapears and Death grows. She grows till she's about fifteen. Seeing the soldier staring at her in wonderment, "I went three years old to plead, but this is my favorite form. So what do we do? Please don't act like I'm some little three year old. We can do anything you'd like. Where'd you like to go? I want to go up there." she said to him pointing up.

Rising to his feet and sheathing Leviathan, Kane thinksimpressive use of shape change magic. Favorite form she says it is quickly becoming my favorite for her too. He looks her in the eyes and says, "I promise you this now, I will not treat you any different then you yourself choose through your actions. And as for going up there do you have any idea how difficult to arrange that will be. You see the residents of the Underworld are meant to remain in the Underworld. Besides, mortals are boring, they struggle and struggle to defeat death and then they die. However if you truly desire to see the world of mortals I am sure I can find away to make it happen."

"Ah, well. I guess I can wait. I never really thought of it that way. So being me we can go anywhere. Where do you wanna go? I don't care. I'm just bored out of my mind." Death replied happily.

Kane breaths a mental sigh of relief and thinks, good that could have been really bad I don't know if she is ready for the world of mortals. Well, to be completely honest I don't know what her father told her about it, but if it is not completely true it could cause an issue. He says, "Right this way we'll go for a walk and see where it takes us." Kane then proceeds to the door.

"After you," she says following him. A bright blue spirit comes up to her and whispers in her ear "The end is near." Since she is the only one who can talk to the dead and they are only able to speak to daddy and her she whispers back, "You lier."

As Kane walks down the hall a thought occurs to him. It has been along time since I have been home to my keep. I wonder if the young lady would like to visit it. He turns around to face Death and waits for her to finish speaking with the spirit. When she is finished he asks, "Have you ever been to Castle Zharov or have you heard of it?" Of course she will need something warmer to wear, but that will be her decision, It is winter at my home after all, he thinks.

"Sounds interesting enough, Let's go!" she said smiling an odd smile.

Good, thinks Kane as he proceeds down the hallway. Once he reaches the about the middle of the passageway he pulls a soul cage from is belt and speaks to the bound soul. "Tell the others I am coming home and bring a very important guest they are to be prepared to meet royalty. They are expected to be on their best behavior. They will comply or they will suffer is that clear?" From inside the cage a raspy voice replies, "Yesss, masssster I will tell them thisss." Then the green glow of the soul cage fades as the soul within it travels to inform the residents of Castle Zharov of their masters impending arrival. After he finishes the conversation he turns to Death and says, "do you want to take, horses or travel on foot to get there? Horses are faster, but you will get to meet more of the residents if we walk. The choice is yours."

"Let's walk!" she says with no hestiation. " I need nothing, I have you to keep me warm." Death replies.

Kane is a bit thrown off by the last part of Lady Death's statement, but he quickly recovers his composure. Focus on the mission, he thinks. He walks on till he reaches the palace gates, then he turns around, smiles and says "The road calls and the first stop the northeastern necropolis." He walks through the gates and takes the northeastern path.
