βI'm only doing this because I'm having fun. The day I stop having fun, I'll just walk awayβ - Heath Ledger
It was all Dante could do to stare and wave awkwardly back as Asuka walked away, holding onto the walkie talkie she had given him. His grin had disappeared and replaced by a frown (a rare event) something strange was up with Asuka's touch, the best he could describe it as was like some sort of spark from contact but what was stranger than this spark was the fact that it felt rather familiar yet completely strange at the same time.
So. Am I in love or is little miss Fujiwara more interesting than I thought?, he mused in his head, as he began to walk, toying with the talkie, trying to figure out what he was suppose to be doing with it but after several moments of what seemed to him as fruitless endeavours he hooked it onto his pants waist band.
He made his way through the halls like a ghost, his mind continuing to ponder over the prefects touch and what it could mean, the same frown haunting his face, a frown that even to him seemed alien and misplaced. "Christ almighty I haven't been worked up this much about something so trivial since my first kiss...." He trailed off as the frown dissapeared and was replaced quickly by his old grin. "And that was only a peck on the cheek." He burst out into a laugh, a good hearted laugh, the kind that would quickly spread and infect others with it's cheerfulness but luckily for the Dhampir everyone was in class and his mind soon placed the thought of Asuka's touch into the back of his mind where it would sit and gather up dust like so many memories that had been lost there.
His patrol had been going so well and to him this was something he dreaded about them, especially when he was on his own with no one to relieve him of his boredom. This however was to change when he saw a group of girls spying through a hall window into the courtyard, giggling among themselves the way school girls were infamous for.
Finally, time to be a prefect and with this thought he skulked to wthe group, just because he was a prefect didn't mean he couldn't have a little fun, and without the girls noticing him he placed his lips to the closest ear he could reach and whispered. "Boo." And what came next truly made his day. Not only had the girl managed to jump out of her skin, she had also managed to drag the entire group down with her as she fell to the floor, a look of utter confusion and terror on each of their faces.
Unable to stop himself the prefect also fell to the floor but not because of the girl's surprise but with his own laughter which now rung through the halls, rolling on his sides, tears swelling up at the pure comedy of it all. The girls had recovered first and were soon glowering at the pale skinned boy but this turned into a starry eyed stare when he had controlled his laughter and regain his demeanour. He maid eye contact with each one of them, showing them individually his lazy smile before addressing them together. "Okay, show's over ladies get back to your classes before Asuka finds you because otherwise, she'll give us both hell." He couldn't help but think that way the girls swooned, you would think his voice was as sweet as honey
but the daft bimbos would act like this with any vampire, it was a rather dry thought but a true one. He stood there watching over them as they walked to their classes until the last one was out of sight, he then turned his attention to where they had previously been looking and to his horror it was a sleeping Zenith.
What the hell is up with him, he's always nodding off, he thought rather viciously but instead of doing the right thing and seeing if his superior was alright and in need of some assistance he carried on walking down the hall, his mind thinking of his family as he let his feet take him as they pleased. He missed his 'uncle' and his other relatives but most of all he missed his mother and he developed a rather hurt feeling that he hadn't in the years separated from her thought of her as much as he should or heard any word of her but he soon pushed his thoughts aside as he focused on his surroundings. He had somehow managed to get up on the top of the roof, the cloudy sky looked so close to him now but still outside of his grasp as he placed a hand towards it like a child; his head dropped as he wished he could spend more time in the sun as he had in his earlier years.
He sat down against the fire exit, a slight breeze kissing his face, his ghostly unkempt hair blowing with the wind. He grabbed the walkie talkie which he had forgotten about, suddenly remembering that he should call up Asuka about the girls just in case and began to fiddle with the tuner until he believed he was on the right frequency. "He goes nothing," he sighed, "Red leader, Red leader, this is Ghost man reporting in that he just sent a pack of strays on there ways to their kennels just wanting to confirm if you've seen them actually touch down. Over." He smiled at the machine, he always wanted to say some thing like that and it felt good but as a ray of sun broke through the clouds and landed on his face he quickly added that it felt no where as near as good as this. His finger found the send button again as he went on. "Red leader just wish to add that Ghost man's current location is the roof top of the fort, just wanting to see of you wanna catch some Zs up here like pompous arse was spotted doing a while ago." And with that he simply waited for a response, a feeling of relax radiating through his body.
