"When they told me they lived happily ever after, did they mean that as a joke? Because they don't live happily ever after...she died at the end."

Jiro had listened quietly as Haruka sang. He could see the meaning behind those words. While she wanted to break free of her fear, it wouldn't be easy. But he knew she would find a way, her own way to do it. Perhaps, in time she could even manage to trust one, but that was a goal too far off to even think of. His thoughts were interrupted when the black creature of a familiar appeared, latching onto Haruka in the process. It irked him to no end how enthusiastic this creature was, despite being from a creature of darkness. But wasn't he as well? Jiro shook that thought from his mind. Haruka glanced down, blinking in confusion before she spotted Sodom. She sighed as she rubbed the black creatures head, listening as he called her an angel which caused her to scoff.

"I am no angel," she whispered before the thought was stated out loud by another. She didn't even have to glance at the person to know who it was. She turned her gaze towards the pure-blood, nothing but pure hatred radiating from the stone-gray irises. She could still feel the shiver of fear rolling down her spine, but she wasn't going to break her gaze. She heard Sodom speak to Azriel in a rather dejected manner. She couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for the black creature who was bound to the vampire. One of his statements caused her to actually laugh out loud.

"Do you honestly think I would bear him children? Let alone have him touch me in such a way," she responded to the black familiar. She didn't even want to think of something so...atrocious as to bear the vampire children. She wanted to commit no such thing with the vampire and she would rather die first than to allow that to happen. Although she was sure the male in front of her had harboured the same feelings as she was nothing but a tool for him. The thought alone made her skin crawl and caused her hairs to stand on end. It was a disgusting thought and she wished Sodom had never spoken of such things. The pure-blood continued to speak and had mentioned traveling to a mansion. What mansion, why was he meeting her parents?

"I am not going anywhere with you! And you are not going to meet my parents," she gritted through her teeth. This vampire infuriated her to no end. Perhaps that could be a means to an end of her fear. If she could remain angered by this one vampire, perhaps there was a bit of hope. She stood from her perch on the log, the breeze whispering through her hair and ears. Her fists were clenched tightly, causing her knuckles to turn white as she continued to stare defiantly at the pure-blood. "This mark," she stated, hovering her hand over her chest as she continued, "means nothing to me. You mean nothing to me. You are just a nuisance, an annoying fly that won't die no matter how many times you attempt to kill it." she could feel her voice as she spoke those words. There was no doubt that she had insulted him, she could see it in his face as when he had stated their trip, he had wanted no retort or disagreement to the words. So what if she was just a tool to this vampire, it meant nothing to her. Why had he wanted to use her as a tool in the first place?

"Why couldn't you choose someone else? Why not the Lancaster vampiress? Why not any of those forsaken things that clamor for your attention, your feelings, why not any of them?! What do you want from me!?" she nearly shouted at the vampire. She could feel her breathing increase as her heart began to pound against her ribs. It hurt, hurt so much that she had to clench her fists tighter, drawing blood as she pierced her flesh with her nails. She hadn't meant to, but she was far too angry to care. The river they were near was slowly misting as she felt her anger rise. Jiro couldn't do anything as he watched the events unfold. He was silently hoping his master would calm down because he knew exactly what the pure-blood was capable of. He wouldn't hesitate to tear the girl apart if she continued down this path. He had tried to get her to stop, but she just kept insulting the pure-blood.

"I refuse to play this twisted game of yours!" she finally ended. She didn't want to play the game in the first place. Although, in reality, it wasn't his game to begin with. It was a matter of fate playing its' twisted game on her. Otherwise, she wouldn't be here in the first place.

You are either an idiot or a fool, there is no such thing as an ending to this nightmare. It only gets worse.

Sodom hovered beside his Master with a rather confused and indiscernible expression. The words being thrown at the one created him by the one who had been marked to be his one and only did not make sense at all. This was not how his Master's parents behaved with each other. There were fights but they were more of a disagreement about who would do the laundry and all done in lighthearted fun. But, this one was not like that at all. There was only anger not even much of a concern even from his Creator. What was truly going on here? All he could muster were two people ending in questions. "Master...? Lady Haruka...?"

The familiar's calling was thrown into the air. All that entered the pure-blood's mind was one thing. Absolutely irritating. This woman was infuriating even before he had even paid attention to her. She was an eyesore and always will be. Yet, this even only prompted him to break her further. The idea of making her a soulless creature was very tempting at the moment. Touching her? Allow him? This wench does not know her place really in the current state of things. Her show of that disgusting power just like that atrocious man. It only made him more annoyed than before. He will show her that he was not someone to be questioned or even more so to be talked back to by a tool like her.

It was not difficult for him to grab the woman by the throat and then pushed her back to a nearby tree. There was little restraint on his part as splinters flew around them indicating the trunk had been broken. "I can touch you however and whenever I want." His hold on her throat tightened which was certain to leave a mark. "Your will is useless." His face leaned dangerously closed to hers. "Yet, I would rather have the Nouralail be extinct than to be soiled by the blood of that bastard you called a father." His eyes of ash obsidian darkened considerably emitting now pools of abyss. There was not an ounce of mercy in that gaze of his. It was filled with insurmountable hatred.

His free hand was then placed over her chest where his mark on her could be found. "You have it the other way around. You are the one who means nothing." Those eyes of night seemed to swallow her into a bottomless pit. "A family who would discard you from the moment they knew your true nature. You are disposable." It was not out of his knowledge the hunter family which adopted her adhere strongly to their dislikes of vampires. They would even go to great lengths of disowning or executing a member of the family if it would be proven their link to a denizen of the night. "I have already informed your so-called family about our arrival. I despise loose-ends."

The meaning of the latter part of his statement was quite open for many interpretations. However judging by how cruel and ruthless, he is. There was not even a degree of hesitation in his tone and everyone knew that he is not the type to have any form of restraints in his actions. It would also seem that he favors violence than diplomacy. Azriel certainly did not meant anything pleasant about it at all. Sodom could feel an overwhelming amount of darkness covering the soul of his Master. Something that he could only see being crafted from a part of the pure-blood. It was frightening and he did not want to see this kind of Master at all. Where did the one known as Ash went?

As if to stop this, Sodom flew towards his Master and bit at the collar of Azriel. From that, he tried to pull the pure-blood away from Haruka. "Please don't bully, Lady Haruka anymore!" Sodom was still confused but there are still things he believed in. That was husband and wife should not treat each other like this. Well, the only reference he has was Azriel's parents. "She is not nothing. She is your everything just like you are to her. Please stop fighting!" This was truly an innocent perception of Sodom which makes it rather odd for a familiar created from Azriel to be so ignorant of what was going on. The black familiar continued pulling the pure-blood's collar who did not flinch at all.

"It seems you lack the capacity to think or comprehend anything on your own. Even an ant has a better brain than you as you are still asking the question why you are here in this position." It was then Azriel ripped the portion of her shirt where his mark was hidden underneath. As it was now visible, he placed his hand over it without much consideration how intimate it could be seen. "You are the only one I need and that is why you are still alive." If this was truly a story of romance, his words would probably make the girl smile in happiness or something along those lines. Yet, it was delivered with such coldness and eyes that never showed any form of kindness. After stating those words, the mark on her chest glowed and began to burn which was the same with her mark on his neck.

"Game? Don't think of yourself so highly." Azriel then violently kissed her but never did he once drew blood from her through such an action. "I will never play a game with you. You are not worth it." He then threw her over his shoulder much like a bag of potatoes. "We are leaving now." This was all he said as he continued to walk away while his hold was strong to make sure that the girl would not be able to escape from him. He dislike chases unless it was the other way around. On the other hand, Sodom continued tugging on Azriel's collar which completely ignored by the pure-blood.

"A wise man once said 'Death smiles at us all. All a man can really do is smile back.' I wonder if he knew the irony in those words at this moment."

Her gaze never once faltered, not even when he grabbed her by the throat and pushed her into a tree. She wasn't an ignorant person to not notice the splinters flying from the tree nor of the pain that surged through her body. She could feel the hold on her throat tighten as those pools of black abyss that turned into pure hatred, just as she had shown him. It was almost laughable at how much they hated each other, and yet, here they were bound to each other. Fate did have a twisted mind after all. Regardless, out of instinct - or was it reflex - her hands went for the ones that held her in place, trying to pry them off as her lungs screamed at her for precious supplies of oxygen. His words only served to anger her more. Through the grip, she tried to retaliate.

"My father was not a bastard! And the day that happens, everyone will rejoice at the end of such a tainted blood-line," she managed to squeeze through. What did he know of her father anyways? It wasn't like her father had ever met the illustrious Nouralail family because if he had, she would have known about them. Her father was the one that taught her of all the pure-blood families and how each one was connected to each other in one way or another. He never discerned the details about how or why they were connected, but he had just said that they were. The next set of words caused the light in Haruka's eyes to falter a bit as what he said held truth to it. Her family wouldn't hesitate to quickly disown her if they knew what exactly it was that they had done.

They raised a child of a gray world without knowing the darkness that crept into the soul. It was no secret that the Kurosawa family of hunters despised vampires. They abhorred the treaty and were always treading on thin water when it came to abiding by the rules. How they managed to remain a live was still a mystery to Haruka herself, but that wouldn't matter. As long as they had loved her as their own, raised her as their own, they were still her family regardless of how they reacted to her vampire side. It was just that naive selfishness of hers. She would cling to them even if they cast her aside as a piece of garbage because they were the only family she had left. Wait, did he just say he had informed her parents of their arrival? What had he told them? These thoughts ran through her mind as he continued to speak, ignoring the black familiar tugging at his collar, begging him to stop.

Jiro could only watch as the events unfolded. He was no match for the pure-blood, of this he was certain. And he didn't want to jeopardize Haruka's broken sanity any more so than Makoto had already. He watched as the black creature tried desparately to get his master to stop, and Jiro could only smile at the effort. At least his familiar was trying something. He could see the confusion, and the anger behind Haruka's gaze, and for once, he felt proud of his master. She wasn't backing down nor crying out of fear. She was meeting this monster head on with a strength he hadn't realized she possessed. He didn't miss the falter in her eyes though when he mentioned she was just as disposable.

"That still doesn't answer the question of why" she retorted when he responded about the only reason why she was still alive. If this had been a romantic gesture, one that was honest and pure, she might have found herself under the fire of actually love, but there was nothing sincere about the words nor the gesture. She couldn't help but cry out as the mark began to burn her again. She hated that mark so much that she was tempted to carve it out of her skin, but it wouldn't work. He had said it was part of her soul now, so it wouldn't matter if the mark was visible or not. Instinctively, her head went further back into the tree to avoid the next course of action the pure-blood did. She tried to avoid it, however; he violently kissed her, causing her to nearly vomit in her own mouth at the way he did it. She began to try thrashing about, but it was only stopped when he flung her over his shoulder once more like he had did that night. With that, he stated they were leaving now.

"Where are we going?" she found herself stating her thoughts. Where were they going? He wasn't serious about going to meet her parents was he? It wasn't even the break from school yet. "Please, don't take me there! I beg of you!" she nearly screamed. She knew it would fall on deaf ears, but she didn't want to go. She tried once again to release herself from his grasp, trying to thrash about but his hold was too firm. She couldn't bring this monster to her family. She didn't want to lose them because she knew that once they find out of his heritage, they wouldn't hesitate to try and kill him. With the demonstration of the previous night, if he were truly that strong, her family would be torn to pieces in a matter of seconds. She couldn't bear the thought of any more death. It was sickening to her, especially since it was her family dying off.

"You'll only kill them," she couldn't help but whisper out the last of the sentence. She closed her eyes, filling herself release the tears she had tried to fight off. Was that the only thing she could do, was cry?

Let me show you a nightmare that had been entrusted to me by the sweet whispers by the darkness.

Ignorance truly is a deplorable and annoying state of mind. Even more so, when it involved this foolish tool of his. Her father was not a bastard? That man was nothing more a but a being that should not have existed from the very beginning. A person who should have been tortured with great pleasure before being granted death. Then, the girl even added that everyone would rejoice in the disappearance of the Nouralail. This girl truly is ignorant. Well, it is what led her to be in this position. She knows nothing. "No one will rejoice because, I have already ended all their meaningless existence." There was no humor or even the sense of as a threat. His words were warped with the tone of finality and decisiveness. He will certainly kill everyone when it comes to the point. It was not a lie.

Sodom watched in agitation and rather disappointment that his Master was completely ignoring him. He was not really aware of the situation at hand or the great change in his Master's disposition. There had been blanks in his memory and even now it was still not being filled. Something had happened to his Creator while he was not looking. Whatever happened definitely caused a major change in his Master's outlook and actions. Nevertheless, the black familiar was certain that this was still the Master he had served and created him. This is something that an invisible bond of theirs could detect and synchronize. But still, he is confused of what was driving his Master to such darkness.

On his shoulder, the girl was thrashing around in an effort to escape his hold. It was useless from the beginning and she knew that well. Like a child throwing a tantrum, the pure-blood ignored the possibility of simply knocking the girl unconscious. It would make things far more easy for him. Still, the girl did not waver. He will give her that. She has the tenacity of a cockroach. Protecting and cherishing a people who would not look at her again once her heritage revealed, it was utterly pathetic. No one can call the a family. In the end, this girl has no family of her own. His bastard of a father and insipid brother were annoyances to him and can never cater to that demand anymore.

Querying where they will go, it was obvious where by now. As if answering herself, she thrashed more than earlier. This time, she was begging him not to take her there. She acts all strong but in the end, she was nothing more but a quivering person who falls back to her fears. Then, there was the scent of tears. He did not need to see it at all to tell, she was crying. The girl stated that he will kill her family just like what happened to Makoto and everyone else who would offend him. Well, they got to the level of annoyance where he cannot tolerate. Things were bound to happen. It was good that she understood. He was not the kind to just leave a threat hanging in the air. Moreover, he favors actions more than anything else. Because, it gets the job done for certain. In any case, she had finally given up taking up a front before him. She could not maintained it in the end.

"Their lives depend on your hands." Azriel stated as he was now at the main entrance of Cross Academy. He did not care that it was not break yet or bothered to tell the Headmaster of their action of leaving the school premises. Well, he is currently at a suspension period. It also means that he can do whatever he likes. Descending down the stairs, he continued his words to the girl on his shoulder as if to give an explanation to his earlier statement. "They know me as Ryuu." This was the truth. In the years he had become human, the Kurosawa family kept a close relationship with the Giou family, the one he belonged to a long time ago. "I suggest you act as a good lover when we meet them. If you don't, I will kill those who would try to harm me."

It was not a mere threat. There was no delicacy or an ounce of leniency in his statement. He was the kind of guy who would not hesitate to destroy objects that hinder him. It was what would happen if the meeting with her parents go astray. Reaching the bottom, a car was already waiting for him. A doorman opened it for him as he threw the girl inside like an annoying baggage and entered afterwards. "Go." With that said, the car began to move as the driver heeded the word of his employer. Soon, it was riding towards its perceived destination. For the duration of the drive, Azriel completely ignored any statements coming out of the girl's mouth or her rebellious actions to run away. It was all useless. The pure-blood remained silent as he focused his attention to the window beside him. It was more worthwhile to look at then the drab of a wife beside him.

Soon enough, they reached their destination. They had finally arrived at the girl's family home. Looking at the girl, he pointed one thing to her. "Do your part." With that said, he stepped out of the car and soon welcomed by the man he knew as the girl's father. "Haruka! Ryuu-kun! It has been a long time! How are you?" From the moment he stepped out of the car, Azriel was like a normal human. His presence replaced of a different feel to it. The fact that he is a pure-blood was suppressed with such great detail. How could this be possible? "Kurosawa-san, it's nice to see you all well." For the first time, he smiled in a gentle manner.

"If I can do this, maybe I can spare them. I will allow myself to touch darkness for once."

There was no doubt in the back of her mind that this man would like nothing more than to erase everything from existence. It seemed that he had a penchant for killing things and did so with great pleasure. She shuddered as the words that left his mouth. Their lives were in her hands? This finally stopped the tears that flowed as he made his way through the Academy and down the stairs. She was glad that the prefects were not around and that everyone was either out enjoying their weekend or somewhere else. Why she had opted to stay at the academy was a decision she was now regretting. She allowed her body to go limp as it was useless to struggle further against the pure-blood.

They exited the building and she was thrown into a car. She hit her head on the other side of the dor and cringed a bit, rubbing the now sore spot before she clutched herself closer to the other side. She didn't want to be so close to this creature and the next words from his mouth almost had her laughing. Almost. She refused, however, if it meant that her family would be ignorant to his heritage, she would surpress the urge of fear and replace it with something different. It would only be for a few hours though, right? During the drive, she kept her gaze away from the man beside her and fixed it on the passing scenery.

It was a beautiful day, and yet, she couldn't enjoy it. She was on her way to meet her family with a man she was forced into a marriage with. It wasn't long before they reached the home. He was the first to exit as she hesitated a bit. She wasn't ignorant to the change of demeanor to the vampire when he spoke to her father. It caused her to raise an eyebrow but she ignored it. She was greeted by her father, and she forced a smile to her face as she went to embrace the man.

"Hi daddy," she whispered with a soft smile. Before the man could respond, the exited shouting of a younger child entered the vicinity. Haruka found herself wrapped tightly by a pair of arms as she smiled down at the child that clung to her so. She knelt down so that she was eye level with the brown eyed child and embraced him. "How is my little Aki?" she stated as Akihiro smiled up at his older sister.

"I've missed you! Why haven't you come to visit us on the weekends?" he asked, a childish tone to his voice despite being ten years old. He turned his attention to Ryuu and glared at the male. "You stay away from Ruka-nee-chan! She's my sister!" he stated in a childish tone. Before Haruka could retort to that, the clearing of her father's throat entered the vicinity. She had completely ignored to introduce Ryuu to her family as were customs. She sighed, but forced a smile at the same time. Walking over so that she stood by his side, she laced her fingers with his, trying not to allow the shiver roll off of her body as she did so. She could see the amused look in her father's eyes as she forced a brighter smile onto her face.

"Dad," she began. How was she going to tell him that this man at her side was supposed to be her lover. Apparently her father was already familiar with the man, which confused her a bit. She had never been told much of other families, and it was slightly confusing to her, but that didn't matter at the moment.

"So it seems that that a Giou has chosen a Kurosawa. Tell me, do you plan on carrying the Giou traditions of asking before taking her away from us?" her father teased, causing an irritated twitch to Haruka. "I am glad that now we will not have to worry about her anymore though. I can tell she will be in capable hands," he had spoken. What had he meant by that? If she remembered correctly, the Giou family (even if she hadn't been told much) was a family of retired hunters. That was the only thing she knew really. She wasn't able to continue her thoughts as a pair of arms wrapped themselves tightly around her.

"Mom...I...can't...breathe," she stated as she tried to get her mother to release her. She could see the happy tears falling from her mothers eyes as she couldn't help but smile at them. Everyone seemed so happy to see her, with this thing and it was causing her heart to break so much more. She was doing this for their sake and she wouldn't allow them to perish. Not while she could help it. When her mother finally released her, Haruka let go of the hand she had been holding and gently returned the favor.

"Come inside, we have lunch prepared!" she stated as she ushered in the two. Haruka only sighed as she followed after her mother, leaving her husband to deal with her father. It seemed that no matter how many years passed by, the woman would always be hyperactive and a bit overly motherly. "You need to tell me how it happened," her mother stated. How what happened? How they met, were married?

"Ever heard of a shotgun wedding," Haruka stated in a rather bland tone, causing her mother to turn around and grasped Haruka's hands. She hadn't really paid much attention to the actual definition of a shotgun wedding. She had meant it as she was forced, but apparently the look on her mothers face was horrified.

"How many months are you along?!" her mother nearly shouted, causing a blue streak to form on Haruka's face as she understood what her mother had been implying. She waved her hands wildly in front of her, trying to discern the woman's current thoughts. Her mother, however, had her head to Haruka's stomach, trying to listen for signs of life with a rather teary eyed expression. "Yoshiro! We're going to be grandparents!" her mother shouted happily before Haruka could tell her mother otherwise.

"No you're not!"

To have many facets is an achievement but, it also meant that no one knows who you really are even yourself.

Watching the interactions from the side, it cannot be helped as memories of that time returned to Azriel like an unending rain. These precious moments in the past gave him warmth but also boundless amount of sadness. The things he wanted were now in the sea of forgotten. Nothing can never be returned to him again. For a moment, those eyes of black ash darkened as it reflected nothing but a crashing abyss. He was only taken out of his reverie when a young boy who he had heard to be Aki glared at him defiantly. It made him smile with amusement while the said boy also stated that he should stay away from his sister. Just like Mamoru... There was a great deal of bitter-sweetness in that thought. Intervening before it gets out of hand, Yoshiro coughed to bring their attention to the current matter. It was none other than Azriel's introduction.

Catching on that, Haruka approached and then stood by his side. Their hands now entwined together so delicately. Azriel did sense hesitation from the girl. But, he did not do anything about it. Actually, it was interesting to watch what she would do. In any case, a smile appeared on his lips as the pure-blood implanted a small kiss on her forehead. This was far different from the other ones they had before. It was gentle and endearing in a sense. The gesture was quite well-received by their audience. Yoshiro was a close friend of Kenta Giou, Azriel's adoptive father when the pure-blood was still truly human. So, when he was a bit younger he had met the man a few times. "It would be more appropriate that I was chosen by your beautiful daughter, Kurosawa-san." He added with a small smile to Haruka who was now being dragged by her mother as it would seem to have lunch. Leaving him with Yoshiro in the process.

Acting so human-like, it was no problem for Azriel. It is because he was once a long time ago. "I'm glad you've grown well, despite what happened to your family, Ryuu-kun." There was sadness in the older man's tone which made the pure-blood looked away with a sad countenance. "It would have been better if they're still here..." Yoshiro noted the looming darkness over Ryuu which ascertained to him the boy had yet to forget what happened to his family. It was one of the many tragedies caused by those deplorable vampires. Yoshiro comforted the younger male by placing a hand on Azriel's shoulder. "I was devastated when I found out. But I am really happy that at least someone survived that massacre." The Giou tragedy was never reported in full detail and had been a classified case. It is because of the involvement of a pure-blood and the rather mysterious death of the hunters that had responded to the scene.

Everyone was in confusion and in lament of what happened. Although, the body of Ryuu was missing from those who had died. It was why Yoshiro had hoped that the boy lived on somehow. Then, here was the son of his friend in front of him. There were a lot of questions. But, it was not the right time. He was just happy that at the very least the boy was spared from death and had not been changed which many had feared for him. Releasing a small sigh, he looked at Ryuu with disappointment. "I was rather sad when you rejected my offer of being adopted." Looking at Yoshiro, Azriel placed a hand at the back of his head and gave a light laugh. "If you had adopted me, it would be a problem for me. I did fall in love with you daughter."

This made Yoshiro gave out a hearty laughter understanding Ryuu's point of view. "Well you are part of the family now. So, I have no complaints! Let's get something to eat." The two men then followed behind the girls for some lunch. The pure-blood nodded at this and then heard something that made him blinked a couple of times. Did Haruka's mother just said something about being grandparents? It was followed by a few slaps on the back from Yoshiro. "You're a fast one! Just like your father!" This was followed by a more jovial chuckle. "Now, I understand why you two wed so hastily! Youngsters this day!" Yoshiro continued to slap his back as Azriel was rather unsure how did they conclude that.

Did they just said that the girl was pregnant? Was that even possible? Never once did he do anything that could cause that. Unless that stupid wench fornicated with another man. Well, he would have known and all. So, it was also impossible. "Is this the news you wanted to tell us? So, you came to visit us?" Azriel looked at Yoshiro and had a rather look of embarrassment and disbelief plastered on his face. The older man was happy about the news and so did the mother. What could be wonderful about technically, two high school students getting it on and early marriage? "Actually, this is the first time, I heard of it." Azriel smiled sheepishly as he went to Haruka and pulled the girl into a gentle hug. "I'm so happy. I'll make sure to make you the happiest girl and our child."

There was no other way around it. This was quite an irony when they had both stated earlier that they had no intention of having children together. They would rather die than to share each other in such a way. He pulled away from Haruka and gave the girl a feathered kiss. This was truly a mystery or it only proved that the pure-blood was quite the trickster and a great actor. His intentions that might hold darkness did not seeped through even once. Actions and gestures provided such sweet nothings as he warmly smiled at Haruka. Who was this person really? "You must not tire yourself too much, Haruka." For the first time, he called her by name as he swept her off the ground like a princess into his arms. "Today, you are the queen."

"A game of charades is all I need for now."

She hated it.

These feelings, the touches, everything. It felt like her skin was on fire, however; she never let it slip through of her discomfort. She sighed rather dejectedly as she tried to explain to her mother she wasn't with child. Of course, her mother had always been one to be over dramatic with things, especially when it came to possible grandchildren. The woman had always pestered her older siblings, specifically her sister, when they got married that they had nine months to give her a grandchild. She was dead serious when she stated that. She was brought out of her thoughts when Ryuu swept her off her feet, truly catching her off guard when he called her by her name. She could feel the discontempt of such an action through her body, but merely smiled up at Ryuu.

"I am not pregnant," she gritted through her teeth when Ryuu addressed that he would make their child and herself happy. She almost choked on it, however; she continued with the game and replied to him. "And you are my king," placing what was to be a quick, chaste kiss on his lips before removing herself from his arms. She smoothed out the her crinkled blouse as her mother stated something about young love. She wasn't paying attention, only to the burning sensation in the pit of her stomach. Just a few more hours, she thought to herself before her mother stated something out loud, causing a knot to form in her stomach and her eyes to widen slightly before setting into an apologetic smile.

"Yes, I think that would be a good idea! You should stay for the weekend. We have a spare room you two could share," Chiharu stated with a large smile. Haruka shook her head violently at the woman's request, earning a disappointed frown from her mother. "Oh don't be like that Ruka, it'll be fine," her mother continued. Haruka sighed before smiling softly.

"Mom, we can't stay. I have," she paused for a moment, trying to think of a proper excuse to get this Ryuu away as quickly as possible from her family. She had introduced him, her father had already seemingly knew him from a past experience. She would have to ask him later about this Giou family. She wanted to know a few things, but for now she was simply trying to leave. "I have a project for school that I need to work on," she stated, half truthfully. While it wasn't necessarily a project for school, it was more for her own selfish reasons. Her mother however waved her off, saying it was nonsense that her project could wait. Haruka shook her head.

"I promise I'll," she paused in herself, "We'll come over again soon, but let's enjoy lunch!" she stated, clapping her hands together, ignoring the scratching feeling at the back of her mind. Her mother laughed and ushered them to the table. Apparently they were having plain sandwiches, causing Haruka's eyebrow to twitch slightly. Of all things to cook, her mother resorted to making sandwiches. She would have thought that the woman would have prepared a grand feast or something, she enjoyed her mother's cooking. A frown tugged at her lips as she turned to her mother.

"Mom, what is this?" she inquired as her mother laughed nervously. Haruka sighed as she realized that, even though they were expected, they were not expected. She replaced the frown with a smile. She understood and didn't press things further, however; her mother hit her fist to her palm as if she had suddenly recalled something, causing Haruka to raise a brow in confusion.

"I forgot! I wanted to give you something!" her mother stated as she dragged Haruka away. She led her to her room and began rummaging through a small box. She mumbled something that Haruka couldn't make out before she finally shouted in excitement. Pulling the object from the box, she presented it to Haruka. "This, your father gave it to me when we got married," she stated as Haruka looked at the object. It was a silver ring shaped into what appeared to be a leaf. She pulled Haruka's hand and slipped it onto her middle finger.

"Mom, I can't accept this," Haruka whispered out, causing her mother to frown slightly. "Of course you can, you're a married woman now. And might I say you have quite the handsome one there. I bet a lot of the girls at school are jealous," her mother teased, but it only caused Haruka's frown to deepen. She buried her head in her mother's shirt, clutching at it as if she were holding onto life itself. Her mother smiled as she rubbed Haruka's hair in an attempt to soothe the girl.

"It's not an easy thing to be in, but if the two of you truly love each other, it'll make everything obsolete. The only thing that matters is the feelings you two will share for each other. Marriage is work, but it is worth it," her mother stated. If only she knew the truth, she wouldn't be saying those words. She'd be disowning Haruka at this very moment, calling Yoshiro to deal with the problem before dealing with Haruka. This only served to heighten the senses in Haruka as she clutched tighter to her mother.

"Thank you," she stated, fixing herself as she stared at the silver ring now on her finger. "But we're still not staying the weekend," she chided.

"Oh don't be like that!"

Lies are really beautiful, aren't they? It can either save you or sink you into darkness.

Silvery black eyes looked at Haruka who soon revealed the fact that she is not pregnant to everyone. Good. If she was, he would have carved up her like a turkey and destroyed the offensive fetus whether it was his or not. He would not have the Nouralail clan be tainted by the mongrel blood of her father. As he had stated before, extinction would be the best option than for him to copulate with the pathetic girl. Furthermore, there was not much of a debate within his consciousness in doing such a cruel action. Decision like this comes easy to him like breathing. This is probably because his moral compass does not always point due north. In any case, the girl continued this play of theirs.

Placing a chaste kiss on his lips, she then removed herself from his arms. It seemed the girl still has a brain. She was not fitting to be carried like that by him at all. Usually, he would have just threw her over his shoulder like a hapless bag and then dropped her off on the ground like a sack of rice. At the same time, his gestures never had an ounce of delicacy in it. But alas, he had to act the part of a doting husband. It was getting a bit tiring that he had contemplated of simply eliminating every one of the Kurosawa. However, the girl was truly taking it all in for the sake of protecting this quaint family of hers. She was playing the part of a sweet wife. Still, it was obvious to him the hatred boiling with every gestures of romance. As a result, it was entertaining to say the least.

So, he will continue this ploy of theirs for a bit longer. Yoshiro stated that it was disappointing that he was not going to have a grandchild and even suggested for them to make it possible within the year. As it would also appear, the mother was sharing this concept. They are definitely odd in their perception of marriage. Then again, they were invited to stay over for the weekend and would be sharing one room. It was already a great hassle for him to share the dormitory room with the girl. There was no way they were going to stay. Although, the girl had beaten him to the punch. So, he would let that tool to handle this.

The girl ended the discussion with the so-called visiting again. If that was going to happen again, it would be pure torture for the girl no matter which way it goes. As such, he would not mind at all. Then, there was a change of subject pointed out, lunch. In which, they soon arrived at the dining area and found nothing more but sandwiches. Actually, it should be labeled as snacks. It is to expected as he had come ahead of schedule. Looking at the meal, he could not help but be reminded about someone of this refreshing silliness. Yes, someone indeed. The silence of pleasant awkwardness was followed by the mother once more. Stating, she forgot something and dragged the girl away. Once again, he was left with Yoshiro.

"Let's leave the girls for some alone time." Yoshiro stated while biting his sandwich while Azriel nodded in agreement. Silence passed between the two men enjoying the food in their own way. It only lasted until Yoshiro broke it. "Have you forgotten and healed?" There was no need to expand the details of that question. He already understood it perfectly. "No." Yoshiro looked at the younger boy in front of him. "Are you planning to take revenge on that pure-blood? Do you want to be a hunter?" Ever since before, Yoshiro was trying to convince Kenta to have Ryuu become a hunter. But, Azriel's father would always declined stating he wanted his children to have a normal life.

That wish was respected but with the turn of events. There was nothing else to be done. Yoshiro could sense the darkness every time the topic about what happened in the past would be mentioned. He was only stopped from thinking when Ryuu answered. "I'll pass on that. If I become a hunter, I will be bound." There was truth to that. Hunters cannot exterminate vampires just because they liked it and certainly not on a personal matter. There must be provocations and rulings in all dealings with the vampires. But... "Does Haruka know?" It is a fact that Haruka had been trained in fighting those bloodsuckers. However, he did not want his daughter to be exposed to dangers readily. Azriel looked at Yoshiro and then smiled. So... Haruka does not know after all.

"I want to ask you what happened that day. But, I have a feeling you won't tell me. So, I won't." It was eating Yoshiro but he knew the boy would probably avoid that talk for now. So, he won't ask like he stated while leaning on his chair as he crossed his arms over his chest. "I'm not going to tell you how to deal with things but you have a wife now." Ignorance is truly bliss. Azriel noted as he remained quiet for some time before responding. "She is my one chance to be saved, Kurosawa-san. I can't live without her." Satisfied with this answer, Yoshiro smiled and nodded in approval. "Then, you should share that cross you bear with her. She has a right to know." A right to know? A tool should just remained a tool. However, he is Ryuu Giou at the moment. "Someday..."

Yoshiro released a sigh. Kenta was like that as well. He was not the kind to reveal anything that easily. "As long as you don't make Haruka cry and sad. I won't interfere." Azriel smiled kindly at this information but deep inside was rather finding the irony in that. For, he had always made the girl cry all the time. "Thank you Kurosawa-san." Then, Yoshiro remembered something. "Oh, I think I know how you two met." This made the pure-blood rather curious about the conclusion the older man had made. "Music!" Azriel was not certain how Yoshiro had arrived at that guess. "Haruka sings and plays the piano. Ryuu-kun is a piano prodigy and sings too! Perfect match!"

He forgot, this man had heard of him playing and even listened to him singing once before all of his dreams were taken. "Speaking of which, would you like to play? We have a piano here." Then, the man's eyes lit up in excitement. "That's right, let's have you and Haruka perform!" It seemed that it was rather a mistake for him to have come here in the first place. Just like that, he soon met the eyes of the girl who seemed to have been standing there for some time. This made Azriel wonder how much did this tool of his heard more specifically, the talk about Ryuu's past.

"Have you ever felt like you were drowning? I feel like that all the time, but it's not water I am drowning in. It's darkness."

Haruka had remained with her mother, trying to dissuade the woman from making them stay the weekend. But Haruka wouldn't budge from her decision. The longer they stayed, the more at risk they became at discovering both of their secrets and certain death would befall them. Even if her family might disown her or attempt to kill her, she still loved them. So much that it was hurting her just being here with that man. She excused herself from her mother and began walking through the home. She passed by a few rooms and located her old one. She smiled, entering the room and glanced around.

Everything was still in place, almost as if she had never left to begin with. She shook her head slightly. She shouldn't have left. She should have just enrolled into a different school. A normal school and everything would still be the same. She'd be free, he'd probably still be killing things or contemplating it, but she would be free. With a heavy sigh, she closed the door to her room and made her way back to her father. She could hear their muffled voices, but because she wasn't paying much attention, she didn't hear what they were saying. They hadn't noticed her presence yet so she opted to stand in the doorway.

Her eyes widened slightly when her father mentioned something about taking revenge on a pure-blood. So, something happened to him regarding another pure-blood when he was a child, or so she assumed seeing as the man before her was already an almost fully grown pure-blood. Almost. Then she heard Ryuu state that she was his one chance at being saved. She was curious and frightened now. He had said that she was all he needed before, but now. She couldn't help but feel that she was part of something that she hadn't realized was there to begin with. She continued to listen on their conversation until her father came to a realization. How they met. She couldn't help but smile at her fathers enthusiasm, but at the same time she was feeling such fear for the man. Then he mentioned something about Haruka performing with him. She frowned but quickly replaced it with a smile.

"I don't think we have time for a performance dad," she apologized. It wasn't that she didn't want to perform for her family. It was something she always did for them, but to do it with him, she didn't want to. "Actually, I need to ask mom something. Excuse me," she stated, bowing in a polite gesture as she hurriedly made her way out of the area. She didn't know that the pure-blood had been raised as a human. Even so by a hunter family. Hadn't they known he was a vampire?

Unless.

It made sense. Her father had told her once about pure-bloods and their strange abilities. One had been the ability to suppress another's vampiric abilities and memories, rendering them human. Of course, there was a great price that came with it though. She hadn't known the price until she had asked her father to make her wholly human. He had told her that the payment would be his life. She had been fearful of that ever since and had never inquired about it again. She rounded through a hallway before finding her mother in the laundry room, Akihiro helping her fold a blanket. She couldn't help but sigh at the situation. Not only had they been unprepared, but apparently they were doing chores still. She laughed, capturing her mother's attention.

"Hey mom, can I ask you something?" Haruka asked, ushering Akihiro out of the room even though he protested. She gave him a stern look before he ran away, leaving her and her mother in the room. Her mother nodded her head as she continued. "What can you tell me about the Giou family? It seems you and dad were close to them," she inquired, earning a frown from her mother.

"If this has to do with Ryuu," her mother started as Haruka shook her head. "I think you should ask Ryuu about them if you want to know about his history with them. It is his to tell, not mine, however; I will tell you they were wonderful people. Kenta was almost like your father really," she stated, laughing lightly at the similarities. Both were extremely doting when it came to their families, but of course Yoshiro had been more strict with his whereas Kenta had been more lenient. Haruka smiled at the statement, but her attention was soon focused back on her mother.

"We knew Kenta before his marriage to Megumi. His family was much like ours, he even had a younger sister. I do not recall her name, but she was a lovely woman," she could her the slight hesitation upon mentioning the other woman in her mother's voice. This caused a slight curiosity to bubble within Haruka as she continued to listen to her mother. The woman gave a slightly annoyed look but continued on regardless.

"You know our look upon coupling with a vampire," she began, causing Haruka to shiver as she nodded. She knew those thoughts too well really. "Don't tell your father I am telling you this. He doesn't like those days much," Chiharu continued, a light losing it's place in her eyes. "Kenta's sister involved herself with a vampire. She had said that he was in love with her and she him. She even became pregnant with it's child" Haruka could hear the disdain in her mothers voice. In a way, she felt sad for this woman. If she truly loved this vampire, enough so to carry his child, then why couldn't she be free to love whom she loved? She shook those thoughts in her mind. Why was she concerned about it anyways?

"Well, Kenta at the time had objected to such an abomination and had his sister try to terminate the pregnancy, but the little disease just fought back," Chiharu stated with slight animosity towards the words. She sighed a bit, wrapping up the story. "Regardless, she ran away and gave birth to the creature before dying. The hospital had given the child to someone else before Kenta and his family could claim it and kill it," she finished. Haruka couldn't help but sigh at the information. It wasn't exactly what she was looking for, but she had insight at least to the Giou family. Really, they hadn't seemed much different than her family, but the difference was still uncanny. They were retired whereas Yoshiro and his family (minus Chiharu) were still hunters. She thanked her mother and returned to where her father and Azriel were, walking in with a slight hiccup in her step. There was nothing she could do now. It was a fate she was slowly starting to accept, but the voice in the back of her mind kept yelling at her.

"I think it's best if we return already. It is getting late," Haruka stated, trying to hurry and wrap the visit up. They were now on borrowed time and it wasn't something Haruka was willing to gamble with. The pure-blood could just snap and decide to kill her family just for the heck of it. For all she knew he could come back in the middle of the night and kill them, set the house on fire or something. She didn't want to think of that, but the vampire before her caused nothing but fear and worry for her family.

The fettering darkness which completes my existence is the one thing I know would never fade away in this world of light where it illuminates all that are lost.

Uncertainty.

One of the most disliked emotions in the spectrum by the Nouralail pure-blood. There was no room for such a feeling within him even more so in the actions he would decide upon. Ryuu's past was not for her ears or even for anyone in that matter. So, he had never discussed it to anyone. Unfortunately, the Kurosawa couple were valued friends of his parents back then. So, they were familiar about him during his human years. He could still remember the house visits and trips they would all take together. There was no lie that he enjoyed his moment with them. It was pleasant but that was in the past. Actually, these lingering attachments were the main source of the pure-blood's indiscretion and to proceed with acting as Ryuu.

It is true he had come here to clean up loose ends and he will eventually. Although, it was not going to be right now. In addition, he needed a clear leverage to put the girl in line on occasion he angers him considerably. The Kurosawas still has a role to play in this grand scheme of his. So just like that, they were safe for the mean time. Breaking his trail of thoughts, the girl apologized to her father about not being able to perform. Then, she excused herself to ask her mother about something. He could hardly care but he is the doting husband. So, he simply smiled at the girl and then looked at Yoshiro after the she left.

"Sorry, we can't perform for you today." Azriel has no plans to play the piano or even to sing for anyone. These portions of Ryuu and his other self had all been buried in the treason of others. Moreover, if he would have to share the stage with the insipid tool, he would have likely killed the girl on-spot. "Plus, I don't think I'm ready to play the piano." Looking at his hands, there was relevant shimmer of sadness in them but it was only for a second. "I haven't play for a long time. I'm a bit rusty." He ended his statement with a light chuckle in which Yoshiro released a sigh of disappointment but the man's eyes reflected a deeper set of understanding. "Well, there is next time. So, you two must perform by then!"

Well, it was a given that a possibility for another visit will be in the horizon. However, he was certain that he would not perform whether by solo or a duet. Still, he was Ryuu at the moment and gave a gentle smile. "Of course." Hearing his response, Yoshiro clapped his hands with a determined expression. "Okay, I'll tour you around the house while Haruka is off somewhere with Chiharu." The older male stood from his chair and beckoned for Azriel to follow him. There was nothing better to do and so the pure-blood obliged. Touring was preferable than sitting here and staring at each other. Yoshiro showed him every nook and cranny of the house with a few stories to spare along the way.

But soon, he was led or rather pushed inside the room where the girl's scent perforated the whole area. There was no need for anyone to tell him who owned this room. It was downright offensive to his sense of smell but he did not allow such emotions to break through the surface of his mask. Noticing Azriel's realization due his expression, Yoshiro was certain that Ryuu knew the owner of this room. "I don't think I need to tell but, this is Haruka's room." Looking around the room, he hardly cares about the girl's room. Although, he could say this as much. "It fits her." Yoshiro nodded with enthusiasm as he rummaged through the drawers to procure that one thing. "Found it!"

Alerting Azriel, he looked at Yoshiro who showed him a picture album. "Here take a look at this!" There was no doubt in his mind that the Kurosawa patriarch was rather excited about this album. It reminded him of his father who would enthusiastically document every moment of his and his sibling's life by pictures. As such, a small smile decorated his lips as he catered to the demands of the older man. Just like that, time passes by as Azriel now knew every embarrassing things that his tool had done in her childhood days as a Kurosawa. There were even pictures to serve as proof of the deeds. Yoshiro was enjoying this very much and the pure-blood did not mind at all. For in the end, he could use this against the girl at some point.

Yet reminiscing must come to an end, Azriel looked at the wall clock in the room. "It's a bit late Kurosawa-san. We should take our leave." Disappointed and sad, these were the obvious emotions that Yoshiro displayed as he released a huge sigh. "So, you two are not going to stay over?" The pure-blood shook its head gently. "Even if I wanted to, I can't go against the missus." This statement of his was enough for the girl's father to laugh heartily. "You're learning quickly on how to have a happy marriage! Next time, we better have some news of being grandparents." This made Azriel laughed awkwardly while scratching the back of his head. Usually, he would simply outright reject the idea. But, he was putting on an act. "I can't promise but, I would try."

As the two males walked along the hallways, they met Haruka at the corridor who said it was time to leave. The girl was intent on leaving which was probably to keep him away from her adoptive family. It was interesting and he would have done something outrageous to counteract. However, he had enough of this place. It was too tiring for his own memories kept surfacing. "This is goodbye for now, everyone" This was Azriel's words of parting as the car they had taken earlier was now waiting outside. Watching the farewells on the part of the girl, he managed to extend his patience a bit more. When it was done, he received an unexpected embrace from Chiharu who had tears in her eyes. "I know Kenta and Megumi are very happy that you're safe and alive. Welcome back, Ryuu." The woman embraced her further as he ended it by slowly pulling away. In truth, he wanted to push Chiharu away but, that would be out of place. In addition, it reminded him of his mother. "Thank you."

Taking the Haruka's hand into his, Azriel led the way to the car as the Kurosawa family watched on. Then, Yoshiro suddenly remembered something. "Wait, Ryuu-kun!" Stopping midway, Azriel waited for the older man who took something out of his pocket. "You should have this." Somehow, the world stopped from its rotation and time ceased to exist. In front of him, Yoshiro showed him a picture. A family portrait of the Giou family. His father stood there proudly with a hand on his shoulder, a younger version of him in middle school. As for his mother, she had a warm and bright smile while carrying his baby brother, Mamoru. His older sister, Izumi, was embracing him from behind with such a cheerful smile. Cherry blossoms served as the picture's background. This was taken when they went out for the Spring Festival.

Azriel did not have any pictures left as the Giou house was burned down during the incident. Everything was incinerated. Slowly, he reached for the picture as if it was a delicate antique. "Kenta had me develop those pictures. I had an extra copy and kept it." Anticipating the question that the pure-blood would give, Azriel simply nodded in understanding. Then looked at Yoshiro, those ash obsidian eyes held a glimmer of appreciation. "Thank you very much." With that, Azriel kept the photograph and had the girl enter the car first before he followed. Taking one last look at the Kurosawa, the car drove off to its destination only known to the pure-blood who took out the picture again and simply looked at it. His expression was undefinable and the presence of the girl beside him was completely forgotten.

"Does the nightmare ever end? Or does it just continue on, driving you to the point of insanity before it's finally sated?"

Haruka said her goodbye's to her family, hugging Akihiro who tried not to have tears in his eyes. She couldn't help but laugh at her brother, he truly did have a big sister complex and she wiped away his tears, promising him she would be back. But she knew that she was lying through her teeth. She couldn't return, not when she was still bound to him. Until she could find a way to rid herself of him, she would stay away from her family to keep them safe. There was something bothering her though. Her family knew this vampire, and it seemed it was on a much personal level than she had expected. She watched as her mother embraced the pure-blood and stated something about his parents. She felt her body shiver when he took her hand. She would have to scrape herself clean later. Probably purify her body in a flame or something to rid the feeling of him touching her as much.

She didn't care what he had said about him being able to touch her whenever and however he wanted to. She wasn't going to make it easy. Did that make her a masochist then? He would undoubtedly put her under so much pain and discomfort for that, but it hardly mattered in a way. He lead the way to the car, missing her father's voice as he called out to Azriel. It appeared he was giving the pure-blood something, a piece of paper, or was it a photo? She didn't care, but nonetheless smiled as Azriel took the picture from her father and thanked the man. She waved goodbye one last time with her free hand as she entered the car first. She fixed her gaze outside once more as the car drove away, her family becoming nothing but a mere spectacle as she left them. Her heart felt so heavy now. At least they didn't have to return to them. She hoped she managed to keep them safe for now.

She wouldn't be able to live with herself if she had managed to get them killed. It would have taken the last bit of humanity she still had left. But what would she have done? She wasn't a match for the pure-blood, and he would likely kill her in a matter of seconds. And he wouldn't hesitate to make it the most excruciating last seconds of her life either. She sighed softly as to not cause unwanted attention to herself. She would just lock herself up in another part of the Academy, or attempt to, when they returned. Subconsciously, her hand laid itself over the mark on her chest. It wouldn't matter if she went to the Earth's core to escape the pure-blood, as long as she had this mark, he would always find her.

Why couldn't you stay? she thought to herself as an image of her father appeared. She knew it was hopeless to think of the what could have been since what could have been is no longer relevant to her world. There was no point in dwelling on the thought, but she couldn't help her thoughts on the subject. It seemed as if she were repeating the same thought process. Why this, why that? What she truly wanted to know was the reason why he did leave. She remembered the look in his eyes when someone came up to him, whispering something in his ear that she couldn't hear. A faint smile had appeared on his lips as he turned to her, and spoke to her.

"My little light, I must go. I will return for you eventually," Haruka listened as her father spoke. There was a tinge of sadness in his voice that she could hear, but she was so young that she couldn't make it out properly. "You look so much like your mother," were the parting words he left her before he disappeared into the thick blanket of darkness.

How she wished she could have stopped him from leaving. Even if she had succeeded, the reason why he left was never given. She had asked her family multiple times about when her father would return, but they never said anything. They only fed on her until it became too much for her young mind. They were the reason why she was so terrified of vampires, and yet, here she was in the accompany of one. Her body wasn't trembling as it once had. Had she finally lost her sanity? She would have scoffed at herself if she didn't believe it. There was still the slight shiver rolling down her back, causing the hairs to stand up as if they had been poked with a static. She had been so engrossed with her own thoughts that she hadn't noticed the expression on Azriel's face as he stared at the picture.

She wondered what kind of people the Giou family were. Although from the sounds of it, they were probably no different than her family. She had felt something for the woman who died. She didn't know the woman, at all, but something tugged at Haruka's heart when her mother told her the history, or some of it really, about the Giou family. The woman had fallen in love, it was natural. Everyone falls in love. Well, maybe not everyone, she thought as she glanced at the pure-blood beside her. He would probably be the only exception to that seeing as he was a malicious being. The woman was condemned to death because of the person she fell in love with. Haruka's fate would have been the same if her family knew the truth about Azriel...and herself. She sighed, shaking the thoughts from her mind as she finally took notice of the males' beside her expression.

If this were some parallel universe in which they were happily married, she might have inquired about it. But they were not, and she would not. It wasn't until she noticed that they had been driving for quite some time, passing by the exit that would have taken them back to Academy. Where were they going? This caused the fear to swell up in her being again, her breathing becoming labored breaths as she tried to contain it. She managed to get her breathing under control as she questioned out loud their destination. "Where are we going?" She knew she wouldn't get a response, but that didn't settle the fear that kept rising within her being. Was he going to finally take her somewhere and kill her? She would be glad to be rid of him one way, but still, it was a frightening ordeal and it was one she didn't want to have to experience by the hands of this thing.

Let the lovely blossoms of pink scatter into the void known as the darkness of the night.

"So, your dream is to be a pianist? Then, I can't wait to see you performing at the Big Dome!"

Well, it was not going to happen. The dream had finally faded into the cold oblivion of despair. His hands were now tainted with dark desires. He could never play the melody he had done so long ago. Songs adored by many and delivered smiles to those he cared deeply. It was the main reason he played the piano back then. This was not done so he could show others his innermost feelings. He wanted to bring happiness to those he cherished. But, when it was taken. There was nothing left for him to give but the dangerous and maddening rage deep within. He was pretty sure that his adoptive father would look at him with such disappointment. The man would even do something reckless to make him stop without doubt. But.... "Dad... there is no going back..."

"Ryuu, you must remember that we will always be here with you no matter what. You will always be my son."

Those words make him want to laugh so loud with such convoluted meaning. If she could see him now, he had this belief that she would run after him with a frying pan. Then, she will do some crazy wrestling moves on him until he begs her to stop. But then again, may be she will not. It would be more appropriate for her to have a look of despair and tears streaking down her cheeks as she looked at him. Will she still say those same words to him now? Will she still be his son despite what had happened? The gentle smile and touches that she used to give him, will it still be the same? No, it couldn't be possible. He had never been her son in the first place. Yet, he was happy for she acted never less of a mother as he had envisioned. "I'm not fit to be your son, Mom."

"Let's make a deal, if you fall in love with another. I won't bother you to be my husband ever again. Comprende?"

A useless deal. However, he did agree on that. So, she will stop bothering him while he was doing his homework. He remembered the glint of mischief in those green eyes of hers. She had even stolen a kiss from him in the process. It is true that she was troublesome and shameless in her flirtations. Yet, he was happy to see her smile so brightly. He was proud to see her so determine in reaching her goals and the occasional kind words to encourage him from time to time. She was a good older sister. If by chance she did became his wife, he would only bring her grief and death. It was something he could never do to her. So, it was good that it was never meant to be. But, it made him wonder if she would still feel the same about him. Perhaps, not. "I told you, Izumi-neesan. I'll just make you cry."

"Nii-sama! I want to be like you when I grow up!"

Just like him, it was impossible to be like him. No one can be like him. Because in the end, he did not want to be him. A creature tortured by the light and only finds solace in the embrace of the darkness. That child was not fitted to be him. Those adoring eyes that looked at him as if he was the entire world, he wanted to protect it. The urge to keep it always reflecting nothing but happiness. Yet, it was harshly taken away. A life ended without reprimand or much of a thought. If anyone was innocent, that boy was. His heart stopped from that moment. That boy called out to him in agony and fear. He reached out to save this life at the very least but it was useless. The ice took everything away. "I'm sorry Mamoru... You can't be like me. You just can't."

The picture in his hand brought memories that he would very rarely think about it. Even in his dreams, he would not have them visit him. Whether this was by choice or not, he was glad all the same. Because, he could never afford to face them like this. As long as he is bound to this heavy darkness he has, he would never have the right to see any of them in his dreams. But it goes without saying, he still cherishes the life he had with them. The flickering world of a normal life was promising and comfortable. But as always, terrible things always happen. They always do without rhyme and reason.

At the very least, this picture will always show that moment of happiness. Perhaps, he could allow himself this reprieve. Unknowingly, he had his other hand gently caressed the photo. His eyes of silver-black resembled that of the moon peering behind dark clouds. It illuminated a subtle light. But, it disappeared from the moment he heard the voice of his infuriating other half. He was reminded that he was not alone in the car. Those cold and empty ash obsidian orbs looked at the girl. He was resisting the urge to throw her out and all of that. But, it was just cause unnecessary troubles to him. Keeping the picture, he then crossed his arms over his chest and looked outside his window before answering the query.

"Nouralail Mansion." As if on cue, the elaborate and grand Mansion of the Nouralail came to view. It could be seen nestling with pride on top of a plateau surrounded by flourishing woods. The house itself seemed to gather designs from the Victorian era with the hint of Greek architecture. "Sodom and your cat are waiting there. I have already sent word to the Headmaster and had someone sent your things already." It seemed the girl did not recall him telling her before that they would stop over her family's house before proceeding to the Mansion. He was not the kind who changes itinerary although, he could change the time and all. It seemed this girl was truly an idiot. How taxing to have such a wife.

The car soon reached the Mansion Proper. They reached the top of the plateau due to the constructed uphill road done with precision and stability. Upon stopping, Azriel opened the door and was welcomed by a strong breeze. It was already nightfall as the moon hanged on the evening sky radiating such a full glow. But, what made it more mysterious and albeit, beautiful. The pink petals and the sweet scent of cherry blossoms filled the air. It would seem the pathway to the Main Doors of the Nouralail Mansion were lined with Cherry Blossoms in full bloom which was odd. This is because they were out-of-season. "Get out. If not, it will be my pleasure to drag you out there." The pure-blood stated coldly as he stepped out of the car.

"Master! Lady Haruka!" Yes, the familiars were here. Sodom flew around Azriel happily and then attached itself to Haruka. ""Welcome!" Sodom greeted energetically as the pure-blood walked away but not without leaving an order to his familiar. "Handle her." With that, he entered the Mansion. Leaving them behind, without another look.

Hayden -Bel- Morgan

"Bel did not go to sleep like the other children did. When Night came, he awoke. Bel came to learn that he was one with the night. It welcomed him."

"Thank him."

Bel sunk to his knees. He had seen it. He hadn't been able to do anything about it, but he had seen it nonetheless. His reflexes were dull, he'd been so used to slowing himself down for the humans at this school that he hadn't been able to react in time. Bel hadn't been fast enough to save Makoto's life. When Bel pulled Makoto off of Sir Azriel, Bel had watched with horror as Sir Azriel's hand snapped forward like a whip and dislodged Makoto's heart from his chest. It had been like watching someone take something out of a pocket. His hand pierced Makoto easily, as if it had no resistance. It had exited just as swiftly, carrying a dark something. That something was inundated with the stench of blood. It was... it had to be... Sir Azriel had taken Makoto's heart as if it were nothing. As if a child could do it.

Still kneeling, Bel was dead to the world around him. He heard nothing but the roar of the wind in his ears. He saw nothing but blackness. He felt nothing but numbness. Once more, Bel had been unable to save someone he'd cared about. It was his fault. If he hadn't intervened, Makoto might have lived, even if it was just for a bit longer. Without a word, Bel looked up just in time to see Azriel smirk at him, then vanish. Something broke within Bel. The world closed off to him. He couldn't hear anyone, he couldn't smell anything, but he could see red.

Slowly, without noticing the arrival of Kieran and Allessa or the arrival and disappearance of Haruka, Bel stood. He was full of anger, hatred, and sadness. There were no limiters on his body anymore, they had snapped with the rest of him. Bel jumped. His takeoff generated a crater, as the earth couldn't withstand the massive force exerted on it. He shot into the air like a rocket, landing about a mile away, deep within the forest. Bel, unable to contain his sadness and rage any longer, roared. His cry was full of anguish as he yelled his sorrow into the night. Without thinking, without hesitation, as soon as he had finished, Bel set himself on a rampage. He uprooted and threw fully grown trees as if they were nothing but twigs. He spun them in circles over his head and around his body before he left them fly. Sending massive trees high into the sky before they plummeted to the earth, crushing other growth and decimating a small part of the forest. It was still no good. Bel wanted to smash something that wouldn't give when he gripped it in his hands. Though the wood was old, and strong, his gasp utterly destroyed it. The only thing that could take his rage head on was another vampire. A pure-blood. Nothing else, short of hunter metal, would satisfy his anger.

Bel continued on, thoroughly destroying roughly an acre of very old forest before he even began to break a sweat. Starting to burn himself out, Bel decided he needed to hit something. The only thing that could take it wasn't around. The ground would have to do. Bel raised both his hands into the air, making tight fists, and slammed them both into the ground. The impact was massive, it shook the forest itself, and sent any debris that was even remotely close to him into the air. Bel appeared to have caused an explosion. Dust, trees, branches, and boulders kicked up into the air as if a sudden massive hand had picked them up and then dropped them. The earth groaned underneath the massive force Bel generated. Another crater formed, this one massively larger than the one generated by his liftoff. Though it hadn't been very long, though it had felt like hours, Bel was finally starting to calm down. Once he could no longer hear the wind roaring in his ears, and the feeling once again returned to his body, Bel stood. While he wasn't done being angry, by any means, Bel didn't feel like doing anything anymore. Luckily, Bel had been deep enough into the forest that his activities wouldn't have disturbed the fair too much. Sure someone might hear him, but the festival was loud enough that the ambient noise would cover up his roaring and smashing.

"It feels like I am caught in between the darkness and light. It is as if it is playing tug of war with each other, and I feel the light slipping ever so slightly."

She knew that they were going to the mansion, but he had said during the summer break. It was only the weekend and they still had school to go to. What the heck was he planning? The mentioning of Jiro and Sodom being at the mansion already caused her to somewhat relax, but the tension was building in her muscles. She could already feel a knot in the back of her neck as a result. There was no use retorting something back to the pure-blood. A decision once made would have results regardless of what she would do. Was she finally giving up? The thought alone seemed to spark something in her heart as she felt it beat a little faster.

No, she would still resist the pure-blood no matter what he would do to her. She vowed that much to herself. When they arrived, she couldn't help but stare at the home of the Nouralail. It was beautiful in a weird, twisted kind of way to her. How could something belonging to this man be beautiful? There were probably keepers around to help keep it that way. She doubted he did anything to help since it wasn't his place. She had been staring at the building for a bit longer than she should have that she almost missed his voice. He was ordering her to get out less it would be his pleasure to drag her out. She glared at the man before getting out herself. She didn't want this man touching her any more than he had already during their visit.

She was greeted by Sodom, the black familiar of the Nouralail pure-blood before her. He had attached himself to her as she smiled down at the familiar. She liked this creature, almost as much as her own. He was the opposite of his master in every sense of the word. He was cute, adorable, and loved (or appeared to) smiling. Jiro wasn't far behind the flying familiar as he passed the pure-blood. He had been there with Haruka when they visited her family. He had witnessed the events she had and for some odd reason, Jiro couldn't find himself to respect the pure-blood any more than what he already did. The only reason he obliged in greeting and obeying was for her sake.

"I do not need to be handled" she muttered after the pure-blood. She wasn't an object to be thrown everywhere. She hated that feeling and it only seemed to intensify with the man before her. She watched as he entered the mansion and disappeared. She let out a deep sigh as she turned her attention to Jiro and Sodom. "Jiro, I hope everything will end soon," she spoke to the familiar as he rubbed his head against her hand. She then turned her attention towards Sodom, the ever happy familiar. She offered him a smile and pulled him from her, holding him at arms length.

"Will you be showing me around then Sodom?" she asked the familiar. She would rather honestly go find the nearest lake and drown in it, but knowing that man, he'd come, pull her out and then berate her more and probably do some other things. She really didn't want to be at this place. It left her vulnerable, and she didn't like that feeling at all. Not to mention that her fear was currently occupied by anger. Once that anger subsided, she'd be terrified of the pure-blood once more. And that wouldn't take long at all if she spent time away from him. Why did that seem like such a bad idea either way she looked at it?

One, she could be angered by the pure-blood by being near him, or two, she could be terrified by being away from him. Neither seemed like logical choices, but what choice did she have? Not many apparently, a voice echoed through her mind. Was she fated to be like this until she died, if she died? Being one of the first of her kind, she didn't know her own lifespan. Would she be like the nobles and only have an extended period of life? Or would she have taken on more blood from her father and live until she was killed by something? If that were the case, she would be screwed for eternity. It was something that terrified her more.

Haruka, it's good to see that you are not as fearful as before, Jiro spoke to her as his golden eyes gleamed with a slight hint of happiness. He was tired of his master's fear, and she had even expressed that she no longer wanted to be fearful, But I do not believe that this anger is the key, he continued, causing Haruka to frown. Of course it wasn't the key. If she were to use anger as a leverage of breaking from her fear, then it would only cause it to come back ten-fold should she ever become passive again. Not that she was passive to begin with. She had built up so many barriers around herself to keep from being found out about, but it seemed to crumble when Makoto entered her life. Her eyes glazed over slightly as she thought of her brother. So, she had a sibling after all. Why hadn't she known about him? Did her father find him later, before his disappearance? Whatever the reason, she would never know now. With that thought pushed to the back of her mind, she turned to Sodom and awaited the tour.

So when the world is reborn and paradise opens, we shall meet again.

It had been some time since Azriel had returned to his Ancestral House. Nostalgia filled him as his hands delicately traced the railings of the grand staircase. Memories from the destroyed past flickered for his eyes only. Some were sweet and some were sad. Those eyes of silver obsidian held a darker shade than it had been accustomed to. He soon reached the middle podium of the stairs as he raised his head. Hanging on the wall was a large family portrait, it consisted of his father and his mother. They had such kind and gentle smiles on their faces. Eyes sparkled with affection and pride which was probably for the little bundle that his mother held. For this little bundle was him, their son.

"I'm back." He softly whispered as his eyes held true warmth which was close to a miracle to be seen nowadays on him. His gaze lingered on the portrait. The contours of his face that were always rigid and stoic had softened. Yet, it was only for a moment. His face soon returned to its usual arrogant and cold expression. Diverting his eyes, he continued his ascent and soon reached the hallways. It seemed so quiet and still. Nothing was amiss and not even a speck of dust could be seen. From the very structure to the insides, everything was taken care of properly. This could only mean he has servants roaming about.

However, why does it seemed no one greeted the pure-blood and his wife? The answer to that, they were all dismissed. It had always been a rule ever since Azriel who had been thought also suffered the same fate of his parents returned to revive the Nouralail once more. The servants must leave the premises every time the young lord will return to the Mansion. He does not like to have people around him and that would also be applied to his servants and employees. Although, it was rather very odd for him to take someone with him even if it is said to be his other half.

Stopping at a door, the pure-blood stood there for some time. Taking a deep breath, he then grabbed for the door handles and opened. it was the study of his father. Whenever he would come back here, he would always visit this room. As always, memories played before his eyes and they were something he cherishes. Yet, the sad truth remains. They were just nothing more but figments of the mind and broken dreams. If he tried to reach out, they will vanish into the sea of light. The only thing that will remain is him, standing here alone. Making reality a bleak world for him. Ever since that day, darkness was the only thing left for him.

As for Sodom who had been left in charge of Haruka, the black fuzzball nodded happily when he heard about giving a tour of the Nouralail Mansion. "Yes! I'll give Lady Haruka a tour!" Sodom stated enthusiastically. He flew around Haruka and then gestured towards the cherry blossoms that surrounded the pathway to the Mansion entrance. "This is called the Cherry Lane by Mama Nora!" As he stated that, Sodom captured some of the falling petals. "It was Mama Nora who planted them!" The familiar then flew to where the path now known as Cherry Lane split from the Mansion entrance. He seemed very happy about showing another attraction of the Mansion. "Come here Lady Haruka!"

Once Sodom was certain that Haruka and Jiro were following, he continued on to the pathway. At the end, there was meadow of white flowers tussled softly by the night breeze. Its calming fragrance mixed with the sweet scent of the Cherry Blossom. But what was rather entrancing were the glows these flowers emit under the veil of the night. It was like the stars had fallen to the land and flickered to create a field of sparkles. "Star Flowers! They only bloom during the night and then closes when the sun rises. These were the flowers Papa Nouralail created for Mama Nora!" Sodom flew towards the center of the field and circled around a patch happily.

The black familiar then looked at Haruka with great cheer. Those amber eyes glowed with innocence and joy as he played with the lights much like fireflies. Sodom then remembered something else to be showed. He flew towards Haruka and then gestured with his head to another direction. "I have more to show Lady Haruka!" After stating that, he led the way again through the forest area of the Mansion estate. Yet along the way, there were rubble of destroyed buildings. These were the traces of a gory history and sad realization. Some of it still remained within the Nouralail grounds.

As Sodom weaved through the woody pathway, it soon opened up to a lake where a small waterfall rattled the water so delicately. Upon the liquid surface, there are floating candles with a name on them upon closer inspection. It gave a hint of something mystical. At the corner of the lake shore, there were wood crafted furniture of a table and chairs. "This is the Lake of Wishes!" Sodom approached one of the floating candles which is of the hue of blue. "All of the Nouralails' place their wishes here if they do have one. This candle holds Master's wish!" If inspected and read, the inscription written on the candle Sodom went to read, "To be always with the people I love."

Regarding of Azriel's current location, he was already at the newly constructed tomb of his clan. Actually, the said place was also one of the beauties of the estate. The tomb was actually only a wall of black obsidian stone. Water constantly fell upon it as if a waterfall. Upon its surface, silver writings engraved the names of the Nouralail Members. At the center of the wall, it showcases the Nouralail Clan's symbol. Surrounding the memorial, an endless field of green Bermuda grass. The water that came from the black wall enter through canals created on the ground. On the canals, hyacinths could be seen floating freely. From a bird's eye point of view, these canals form the symbol of the Nouralail.

During the betrayal, portions of the Nouralail estate had been ruined but the one most destroyed was the tomb. When he returned, he rebuilt it and made it more of a memorial where the memories of his parents will forever linger. This was also where he made a promise. A promise he would not fail to keep no matter what. Before him, he had already placed two kinds of flowers on the pedestal. They were a Lily and an Iris. He touched the cold and wet wall of memories where the names of his father and mother were written. "Someday... I promise... Someday... Until then, I don't deserve your forgiveness." Closing his eyes, he let the silence and the solemn presence brought by this place engulf him. For now, he would let this melancholic peace fill him.

"Hey Ash, you must live on. You must for her..."

"Two souls bound together by a darkness of the past. And I hate it that the only thing I can do is cry."

Haruka smiled at the familiar as he happily agreed to show her around. He explained the cherry blossoms littering the way of the path, and had called it the 'Cherry Lane'. It was named so by the lady of the household, or at least she assumed she was by the way Sodom called her. 'Mama Nora' as Sodom had called her planted the trees, and Haruka couldn't help but admire the beauty they radiated underneath the light of the moon. It was an ethereal appearance, one she couldn't hope to ever create and she found herself reaching out to the petals. She grasped one that fell into her hand and glanced at it. A sense of familiarity washed over her as her gaze softened slightly.

They had one cherry blossom tree in the backyard of the Toko residence. It was the one thing she loved about that place before her father left. He would often sit underneath it with her in his lap, telling her stories of his past and how the world changed so suddenly. He would often mention her mother at times, but it wasn't enough for her to picture the woman. All she knew was that she looked like her. She heard Sodom call after her to follow him and she obliged the familiar. He took her to another part of the area where the lane split. He seemed excited, and she couldn't help the steadying of her heartbeat to the familiar's presence.

Her breath seemed to hitch as they walked upon what appeared to be a meadow of white. It was truly beautiful in every sense she could feel. The flowers, as described by Sodom, were labeled as Star Flowers. The name seemed fitting as they shone with such a brightness that Haruka had to glance away for fear of being blinded. Also, she felt a tug at her heart when Sodom mentioned the flowers were created by 'Papa Nouralail' for 'Mama Nora'. How could such a sweet gesture come from such a family, and then their son be the way he is? Then again, she didn't have to dwell on that thought much further. They were not here to greet their son, so that left only one conclusion.

They were dead.

This was only confirmed by the destroyed rubble littering the ground as Sodom lead her through the forest of the Mansion. She could almost feel the screams of the scenery piercing her as she clutched the front of her shirt. She couldn't understand the feeling. Was she sad because of what happened here? Why would she be, she didn't know these people? What kind of people they were or what they did. These things she didn't know, and yet she couldn't help the overwhelming sadness that flowed through her being. Sodom then led her to a rather peculiar lake that she almost had to laugh at the irony. Hadn't she just moments ago thought of finding a lake to drown in? And now, here they were standing before one.

"The lake of wishes?" she found herself questioning as Sodom flew to a particular candle. All of the Nouralail made wishes if they had one here, or so Sodom stated. He read the candle as he stated it belonged to his master. The words, they sounded so familiar. Almost as if they were uttered from her mouth before, and this thought brought the heavy burden of feeling the sadness on her. Jiro glanced up at his master as the tear drops fell to the floor. She was crying, not because she was afraid, but because she was genuinely sad. She had felt something so terrifying here that she couldn't stop the tears from falling. He rubbed against her leg, trying to comfort her, but she could only fall to her knee's and cradled her head.

"So much grief, so much sadness," she stated. Nothing mattered at the moment to her, not even her anger or fear. The only thing that did was the depression that lingered in the area. But there was another feeling in the air. So much care and love that it was suffocating her. "Why does it hurt so much," she tried to state through broken sobs. She wanted to laugh at the silly notion of this. She didn't care about this mark, this man, this thing, that held her in shackles and bound her to an everlasting darkness. Why was she so upset then about his home? His family? It made no sense to her. She wiped the last of her tears with the back of her hand as she stayed on the ground.

"I wish for an end of this...all of this sadness, this pain, this grief, this fear" she whispered so low that it couldn't even be considered a whisper at all. It was as if her lips had just moved, but no sound came out. Even if she were to receive this wish, she wouldn't be able to stop the hate and the anger nor the memories from surfacing. She needed to forget, but how could she? Letting go of her past would be the first step, but she couldn't let it go. It was bound to her much like this arrogant man that was her husband. Even the mere thought of mentioning him as such caused a sickness to bubble in her stomach. There would never be another sense of normalcy in her life.

"A light, no matter how dim, will always find a way to shine brightly. You just need to fan the flames of the fire first,"

She recognized that voice. It belonged to her father. He had said that to her days before his disappearance. She had asked him a question that she couldn't remember now, and that was his answer. She smiled as she took a deep breath. This place, no matter the feeling of sadness, grief, death, it also brought a sense of serenity, and she couldn't help the whispered song spilling through her lips, Jiro curling in her lap as she stroked his fur.

This voice resonates in my darkness, it rattles my world, and I should destroy it, yet, it was mine or is it?

Time was inconsequential. Somehow fast, yet at an excruciating slow phase. It was unknown to the pure-blood how long he had stayed there in front of the Memorial Wall. He was just satisfied just staring at the names of his parents. Those eyes of silver black did not waver or even blinked throughout the course of his visit there. His hand delicately traced the names for the umpteenth time. The cascading water was completely ignored as he continued this gesture as if it was placed in an endless loop. However, his face remained rather emotionless as if it was void of any emotions. It was not the same with his presence though, for he emitted a rather melancholic aura about him.

Just like that, he traveled with the visions which he could only see. Back to the moments where everything was like wonderful and clear glass. There were no cracks. There were no dirt. There was nothing at all. It was beautiful and pristine. But because it was glass, it was easily broken with the slightest touch. It was so fragile and once destroyed, it could never be put back together as it was. There was no hope for restoration. Even if one did so to connect the fragments, the cracks will still be seen and always be remembered. It will still be broken and would be easier to do so. This is what happened to his memories. They were now in a million pieces of glass. All soaked in the darkness which he found solace in.

"This world is very beautiful. Remember even in the depths of black, there would always be a light. Be that light Ash."

How pathetic. This was the only thing he could describe his current situation. How different from what his mother had once asked him to remember. His mother saw beauty in everything even in the things that others take for granted. In her eyes, everything was brilliant and meaningful. For her, there was no issues about the difference of races. Because, there was no reason for them not to understand each other. After all, they could always meet halfway. If both make an effort, she believed that this world would be more radiant and wonderful. She was truly the very epitome of what their Clan name meant, the Light in the Darkness.

"All I see is ugliness. I have no ability to be the light." Tracing the name of his mother, there was a broken smile decorating his lips before it slipped into its undisturbed frown. "I can only be darkness." Nothing in this world was precious or priceless to him anymore. Everything was either disposable or useless. The splendor that once adored his eyes could now only see the decay of all things. Could any blame him for such a transition? This world took every single piece of his dream and then torn it asunder with no hope of reclamation. There was nothing left for him but to walk the path of eternal darkness. Somehow, he was not uncomfortable with that.

"We are not invulnerable as we are led to believe. We crumble like every one else. What defines us is when we rise from that. So rise."

Easier said than done. How can you rise from the bottom that bring you peace and the sense of completeness? What if when you fell, there was never an end to it? Crumble? That is very true. Everything around him crumbled into a myriad of ashes and dusts. They carried the lost hope and degraded dreams with the passing wind. Invulnerable? He will be for the sake of his goal. All that he had done was for that one thing only. Until its fulfillment, he would do everything within his ability and power to make himself invincible. So, there would be no reason for him to worry about the repercussions of his actions. Nothing at all.

"It's better here in the darkness." Touching the name of his father, there was a flicker of hopelessness. Yet, it was only a moment as if a mirage that never truly existed. Removing his hand from the obsidian wall, he stepped backwards. "I think it's the other way around. The fall defines us." He stated with a lonely tone which afterwards, he gave full-bow with such manner and respect. No words were spoken anymore. This was goodbye for now. When done, he turned his back from the Memorial Wall and began to walk away. He wanted to stay here forever in this area. Yet, there were other matters he had to attend.

A melody drifted to his direction. His eyes glanced towards the direction of the western forest. The place houses the Lake of Wishes where his parents and him would usually spend their time in the afternoon. Drinking tea and eating sweets, his mother would speak of impossible yet wonderful things. His father would simply agree and would even consider it to be plausible. During that time, he listened to them with such hope. But now, there was not even such a thing left in him. There were no room for dreams especially those that are impossible to begin with. Foolish dreams just fade away into the darkness of the blood.

In any case, he stopped his trail of thoughts at that. He wondered for a moment to where the music could come from. But as he listened more, it was a voice. A song was being delivered. There was no one else here but him and his tool. Sodom must have shown her around the estate. Speaking of which, Yoshiro did tell him that the girl could sing besides playing the piano. So, this was her voice. Haunting. It was the one word that entered his mind as he unconsciously placed a description. Furthermore, he was rather surprised that he soon found himself at the lake.

His eyes looked at the floating candles on the lake where it still held the wishes that had span for generations. The pure-blood had not visited this area for a long time. Actually, this was the first time he had come here since his return as a Nouralail. Although, he was more curious as to the fact he came here. It was like something pulled him to come here. The source, as his eyes slowly gazed at the form of the girl who had become his wife. When the song ended, he heard the overly-enthusiastic voice of his familiar. "Master! Master! Lady Haruka's voice is beautiful isn't it?!" Those amber eyes glowed like the radiant sun as it stared at him.

Looking at Sodom with silence, he shook his head and then returned his attention to the girl. "Get up." His voice held no amount of gentleness which was present before at the Kurosawa's House. He then turned to exit the lake proper but not before stopping midway and glancing over his shoulder. "Follow me." There was no room for arguments and judging by his personality, he would probably drag or throw her over his shoulder if she chooses to rebel or talk back to him. Once that was said, Azriel finally left the area while Sodom flew towards Haruka who seemed to have concluded something rather different from his Master's intentions. "Oh! Master is probably going to introduce you to Papa Nouralail and Mama Nora! I know they will like you, Lady Haruka!"

"I saw something in the distance, and I wanted to reach for it, but I couldn't. I was restrained and shackled to a horrible and heavy thing."

She didn't have to open her eyes to know Azriel was in the vicinity, and yet she still continued her song. Once it was finished, she heard Sodom state so happily a compliment about her voice. The only response she received was a command to rise and follow after him. She hesitated, but obliged none the less. She didn't want the torture any more. She didn't want to feel anything anymore. It was causing her heart so much pain, that she wasn't sure if she'd live and die of a broken heart. Could people really do such a thing? Die of a broken heart? Well, she'd find out eventually if this continued any longer than necessary. She was just so very tired. Not even her fear could overwhelm her right now. The tired feeling, the tranquility of the area they were in, everything was numbing out her fear of the pure-blood. Whatever it truly was, she was brought out of her thoughts on the subject when Sodom spoke.

"Sodom," she stated in a light tone, rubbing the familiar's head affectionately, "I doubt that is where he is taking me," she continued in a light whisper. The broken edge in her tone had come out sorrowful on accident. She hadn't meant to state it as such a bad thing, but wasn't it? Wasn't it a bad thing that she was even here to begin with? From the way the familiar spoke, the Nouralail seemed like such nice pure-bloods, and anyone who had been their chosen one for their son should have been thrilled. But she wasn't, because this marriage that was forced upon her was all by default. She shouldn't have been asleep in that room. She shouldn't have even been anywhere near that room, but it wasn't Makoto's fault. Partially, she blamed Jiro for that since he was the one that directed Makoto to her room.

With a heavier sigh than intended, she continued to follow behind the Nouralail. Where he was taking her, it didn't matter in her mind. The steady rhythm of her heartbeat frightened her a bit. It was so calm, that the melody it played was almost taunting to her. Why was it so calm? She placed a hand over her chest to feel it with her own hands, and there, beneath the flesh and skin, the soft drumming of her heart could be felt. Her eyes glazed over in a wistful appearance. Her mind was occupied of thoughts that didn't belong there, and Jiro just glanced up at his master. He could hear the confused thoughts of his master as she questioned so many things. The same question though that repeated within her mind: Why? Why what? Why was this happening to her? Jiro shook his head.

It was like an over-lapping door that never ceased, like an escalator someone never turned off. It was always the same question lacing her thoughts. The occasional, what does he want, thrown into the mix would occupy her mind since that question was never fully answered. He had just said the same thing, that she was the only one he needed. But what did he need her for? This caused a slight pain in her head as she cradled it softly with one hand. She was giving herself migraines' and headaches for thinking too hard on these questions that would never be answered. She rubbed her throat absentmindedly. It was still sore from early today when he had grabbed her and pushed her into a tree. Thankfully, there wasn't a mark there any longer, otherwise she'd have had to lie to her parents about the mark.

She was also grateful of where that mark was located. If it had been like his, on his neck, then she'd surely have a lot of explaining to do. This thought seemed to comfort her tortured mind. How odd that a single thought as this could bring a sense of peace. Surely she had to be a masochist to endure so much pain from this vampire. Whether it was physical or not. Occasionally, the thought of this was her punishment for killing her family would enter her mind. That night was still unforgettable. She could still see the events that happened, the blood that was spilled, the screams. Everything. The way her family tore flesh from her skin, she could still feel their claws ripping at her. It wasn't until Jiro had arrived that she finally blacked out.

The next thing she remembered was waking up, walking with blood coating her small body and Jiro in her arms in the form of a black cat. She was found by a group of hunters who were passing by and heard the commotion and the screams. Of course, their natural instinct was that someone was in trouble and they came here. They hadn't found bodies of any human casualties, but they did find shards of broken glass from the pure-blood family that no longer existed. In a way, she managed to wipe out her own family in the process and end their blood-line. The only left known link was her. The Toko family was no more. Her father was gone, somewhere she thought him dead (if only she knew) and her brother dead as well. It was thanks to this man before her that the last of her family was dead.

And yet, she didn't say a word. Instead, she remained silent as she continued to follow behind him, staying a good three feet behind as to not be so close. Yet, she didn't want to fall behind where he would more than likely grab her and hoist her over his shoulder like an annoyance. If this had been a different universe, she would have inquired about their destination. But she knew better than to ask anything of the Nouralail anymore. It only brought unwanted touches of pain. And she was afraid of the answer.

It was good that the girl did not have the audacity to retort. He was not in the mood to tolerate such things at the moment. If she had, she would find herself drowning in the lake. The idea was rather tempting to begin with yet, it would not be in his best interests. At the same time, he does not want to defile the lake which his parents were particularly fond of with her dirt. Soon, the destination was reached. They were now at the grand foyer of the mansion. The pure-blood continued to the stairs. There on the wall, the large family portrait of the Nouralail family could easily be seen. He simply walked passed it and proceeded to the hallways. As for Sodom flew, he towards it happily. "Lady Haruka! See! This is Papa Nouralail and then Mama Nora!" As the black familiar spoke the affectionate labels, he pointed to the specific individuals on the picture.

Haruka found herself in the large foyer behind Azriel when Sodom flew to a rather large portrait. He mentioned who they were, and Haruka couldn't help but stare. "They look like wonderful people," she whispered to the familiar. They were beautiful in a way that only a vampire could possess. She almost felt envious at their appearances, or rather their expressions. She wanted to reach out to the portrait and trace her fingers along it, but kept her hands to her side. She didn't want to be reprimanded for dirtying it. As such, she continued to follow Azriel, keeping her distance in doing so.

Sodom beamed happily as far as it would be possible for him. "They are truly! Mama Nora attended Cross Academy too!" The little familiar noted as if it was common knowledge. He flew besides Haruka while Azriel did not react or much looked at their direction. Perhaps, he did not mind the talk regarding his parents in such a pleasant manner. "I believe..." Having a thoughtful expression, Sodom hummed for a brief moment before finally remembering it. "Mama Nora was Student Council President and helped beautify the gardens at the academy."

It was then the pure-blood stopped on his tracks. Beside him was a door, his eyes glanced to the talkative familiar. "Sodom. Enough." The familiar looked at his Master in wonder. What was wrong with talking about Mama Nora? "But Master..." Those ash ebony eyes of his held a simmer of cold flame. He clearly did not like repeating himself. As a result, Sodom pouted with clear disappointment. Seeing this reaction which was to his liking, he opened the door near him. "This will be your room for the remainder of your stay here." He did not enter the premises but instead looked at the girl prompting her to enter first. He had an idea of locking her there forever it was plausible but his goals intervened.

She softly smiled at the familiars response. Cross Academy seemed to draw in many different people. That much could be said seeing as it did currently house a very notorious pure-blood with a personality resembling that of a rock. Ah, so that would explain why some of the landscaping around the school looked rather...beautiful. But then again, how long had it been since this Mama Nora had been at the Academy? The gardens didn't seem like they were well kept now a days, but that was because the gardening club hadn't been as large as it once was. Whatever the reason, her thoughts were rendered to the snap of the pure-blood as he quieted his familiar.

"Stay with me Sodom," she whispered to the familiar as she winced slightly at the tone and reached out to the familiar, grasping him softly as she cuddled him close to her in a comforting manner. He then opened the door to a room and declared this as hers for the remainder of her stay. Hopefully that wouldn't be much longer. She took a hesitant step towards the room, never glancing at the pure-blood. She didn't want to see those eyes that held such a deep abyss. Everytime she did, it only felt like the shackles of the darkness would clench tighter around her, trying to suffocate her in the process. If she could avoid looking at him, then she could perhaps survive the rest of this ordeal until they returned to the Academy where she could hide from him for a bit.

The room in question was fairly large in many aspects. It was fitting to the grandeur of the mansion. Everything was in order and neatly placed to a perfect symmetry. It displayed an array of warm hues which was rather odd depicting a pure-blood family who had been feared by their very own kind as well. The pure-blood did not pay heed to the rather disappointed look of his familiar. Sodom was too much for him at times which was rather peculiar. Why did he have such a creature to be his in the first place? Truly odd in more ways than one. In any case, the girl handled his familiar. It seemed she was not a dull tool as he thought her to be.

"Your luggage should had been stored in those closets beforehand." His eyes lingered at the exquisite wood-crafted dresser with such intricate and detailed carvings of the moon and sun in a harmonious synchronicity. The silent contemplation was interrupted with Sodom's curious query. "Master, are you going to cook?" Yes, there were no servants to begin with. In short, all the needed household chores would be done by them. Sodom who remained closed to Haruka asked with those big amber eyes of his. There was a great deal of silence in the pure-blood's side before looking at the girl. "You should know how to cook." It was not a question rather it was a statement that should only be viable for the answer yes.

So, he hadn't been lying when he said that her stuff was already retrieved from the school and settled into this place. She let a small sigh escape her lips. She was too engrossed with her own thoughts to even notice the grandieur of the room. She might have been left breathless otherwise if she had. The mentioning of food caused Haruka to stare down at the black familiar. Why would he cook? Shouldn't vampires be only able to consume blood? He had tablets for that, or so she pressumed. Her thoughts were abruptly interrupted when he glanced at her. She knew how to cook, that was a given. She used to do it for Akihiro when her parents were not around. She only frowned.

"Yes, I do, but," she paused. She wasn't the best cook in the world, but a majority of the dishes she could make were edible. With a deep breath, she glanced at the familiar, "What do you wish to eat?" she asked the familiar as she forced a smile on her lips. She would cook for the both of them, but not the pure-blood. Unless she had too, which she was hoping the answer to that would be no. She still couldn't comprehend a vampire needing to consume solid foods. Although, she herself could survive on either foods or blood tablets, however; blood tablets were needed ever so often.

There was no denying it. Haruka's answer delighted Sodom who did a pirouette in the air to express this. "Yehey! Master's cooking is dreadful!" Upon hearing this statement, the pure-blood narrowed his eyes towards Sodom who immediately froze and hid behind Haruka. This creature was truly troublesome than useful. "But... But..." He then turned his back from them as he proceeded to leave the room. There was no need for him to eat such meals. Actually, it was for Sodom who liked such cooked meals He would never understand why the creature liked such things.

At the same time, his familiar had the nerve to criticize his cooking when in the end he only did it due to the annoying cries of Sodom. "I will show you the kitchen." This was the only statement that the pure-blood said as he finally exited the room. As for the hyperactive familiar, he peered behind Haruka and released a sigh of relief. "Lady Haruka, you should never let Master do any kitchen work.... It's... horrible..." Remembering the times the pure-blood did cook, it was a scene out of a macabre film. The familiar visibly trembled before returning to his usual energetic self. "Come! Come! Come! I want curry!!!" With that said, Sodom gestured for her to follow his Master.

It seemed the familiar was truly something. He momentarily caused her to forget about Azriel's appearance and let a light laugh escape her lips. Jiro only cocked his head in confusion as he found the familiar's antics a bit childish. He seemed too easy to please really in his mind. The laugh was cut short though when Sodom hid behind Haruka. But if Sodom was hungry, and she needed to cook, there was only one question on her mind. Where was the kitchen? This was soon answered by the pure-blood, stating he would show her the kitchen in which she could only obey and follow. She glanced at the familiar when he mentioned to never allow Azriel to do kitchen work. She laughed lightly again, rubbing the familiar's ear in the process.

"If I live that long Sodom, I will cook for you. But I do not promise anything," she replied to the familiar. Honestly, she wouldn't mind cooking for Sodom or Jiro. She could do that much for the familiar who was the complete opposite of his master. He then shouted something about wanting Curry. A faint smile tugged at her lips. It was Akihiro's favorite dish, and something she had learned to perfect for her younger brother. She remembered the first time she cooked for him, it was spicy the first time. Too salty the second time, and too bland the third time. Needless to say it took her almost two years to perfect the meal. "My little brother likes Curry, you are in luck Sodom," she spoke to him in a whispered tone. Why? She didn't know. She didn't want the pure-blood to hear her she supposed, but given his heightened abilities, he would regardless.

Soon enough, they reached the kitchen. It had the similar beautiful architecture trend. The kitchen screamed luxury and catered all the needed kitchen appliances and utensils. Everything was in order. Azriel glanced to the girl and the familiars who trailed behind. "Do as you please and cook that rodent something to eat." Sodom clearly did not like his Master calling him rodent. Although, this was only done by the pure-blood when he is rather offended by his familiar in terms of someone being better than him. "Sodom is not a rodent! It is because Master cooked curry before and turned into soup!"

His eyes narrowed to irritation due to Sodom's statement. However, there was truth to that. It was then he looked at the girl. There was lingering doubt and hesitation. However, it soon returned to its usual steel and icy gaze. "Show me how to cook that curry." Sodom's eyes widened in horror as he attached himself quickly onto Haruka. "No! No! No! Don't allow Master to cook it! Lady Haruka, don't let him!" The familiar begged like spoiled child. It was evident that the pure-blood was getting annoyed by his familiar. His eyebrow was already twitching which was a rare sight. Perhaps, this was one of the reasons why Sodom was not called out too much.

As she pleased? What funny words. If that were the case she would leave and never come back, however; she knew the underlying meaning to those words. Do as she pleased within the kitchen, not what she wanted to do. The next set of words caused her brows to furrow. Sodom may have been many things, but a rodent he was not. Before she could state such, Sodom beat her to the punch, mentioning his master's cooking. Curry into soup, how does one manage that? Well, apparently she had once when she first began to cook curry. Well, it was a good thing Curry could come natural to her now. Without a moments glance, ignoring the eyes on her being until those words came out of his mouth. Had she heard correctly? He wanted to learn to cook Curry? Had this been another life, she would have laughed. Oh yes, laughed so much that she would have cried. Sodom clung to her being, pleading for her to not let him cook.

"Sodom, he wants to watch. He will not be cooking, I will," she stated, trying to reassure the familiar that she was still going to be the one cooking. Although in reality, she didn't want an audience. It made her nervous. She could already feel her palms sweating slightly, however; she took a deep breath and made her way to retrieve the utensils she would be needing along with the proper pots, pans, and other tid bits. She was going to make an easy, simple curry, or rather, Karē. It was a simple dish, only requiring minimal effort really and the one type of curry dish she mainly made. The rice would be the easiest thing to cook, so she'd save it for last as to not let it cool too quickly.

Grabbing the necessary ingredients, she proceeded to make the curry with much effort. A tedious task really, but regardless, she put much effort into making it. She didn't want to disappoint the familiar and would honestly like the ability to say that she could do something better than the pure-blood. Who knows, maybe she'd even try and steal the familiar away from the pure-blood in the process. He didn't deserve the insults he threw at the creature any more than she did. When everything was finished, she put together a small plate and gave it to the familiar first, awaiting to see his reaction to her dish. She hadn't put much effort before into creating a dish, but like she had previously wanted, she didn't want to disappoint the familiar. "I hope you enjoy it Sodom," she stated towards the familiar.

Her reassurance served well as Sodom was once more happy. Knowing his Master would not soil the food, it was truly a wonderful thing. As for the pure-blood, it was rather unprecedented that this little incapability of his be revealed to someone. More over to a girl he cares nothing for, it is true she is his wife. But then again, it was nothing more but a means to an end."Yipee! Lady Haruka's curry! Lady Haruka's curry!" Sodom hummed enthusiastically while flying around Haruka who was now busy preparing his curry meal. On the side, Azriel cannot help but get more infuriated by his familiar. It was probably better not to have called upon the black ball of chaos. From the very beginning, Sodom was useless. Yet, if that was the case why did he not just throw the creature away? Sometimes, he does not even understand himself as he watched the girl cooked. He could easily tell the girl was giving effort in preparing a measly meal for his familiar. What was the point in doing that?

When it was done, Sodom looked at the presented curry before him. His eyes sparkled like the rising sun. It seemed he was even shedding tears in complete joy. "Finally a curry that looks curry! You're a blessing Lady Haruka!" The familiar stated with truth as he soon quickly plunged himself to the curry and tasted it. A few moments were filled with silence as Sodom registered the taste. His face then twisted into pure pleasure. "....Delicious! It's really good! Much Much Much Trillion times better than Master's!" Yes, it was the last straw. Azriel who had stayed on the side approached Sodom and pulled the dish out of his familiar's way. "My curry!!! Give it back!" Those eyes of silvery black held a distinctive amount of annoyance and his lips were in a frown. "What is delicous about a meal cooked by her." Yes, there it was again the arrogance and haughty show of displeasure. "Lady Haruka made that for me! Master is just jealous! Jealous!"

Jealous? Him? Why would he ever feel such a thing towards any object or a person in that matter? He is never jealous. "Enough Sodom. This is not delicious at all." As if to prove that point, he took a bit of the curry and tasted it. Sodom who was already crying and wailing knew what would follow. It would be his Master's cruel criticism. The pure-blood never run out of anything bad to say which Sodom was beginning to take notice. However, there was just a great deal of silence before placing the plate down before Sodom. The familiar immediately stopped crying and looked at the plate then to his Master noticing a change in demeanor. "Master?" The said pure-blood looked at the girl with such a pointed look. He would never admit it to her. It would be better to die than anything else. But... "Curry now."

Sodom's reaction caused the small smile to return to Haruka's face. It seemed that this creature truly was a ball of light, unlike his master and despite his coloring. It was a shame really. She was growing attached to the black creature that belonged to something she wanted to break free from. This feeling, it was contradicting her nature so much that the irregular beating of her heart began again. But this time, it was something completely different. It wasn't the irregular beating of fear, but of anxiety, worry. What was she so worried about? She'd have to think about it later, Sodom was creating a mess. With a sigh, she grabbed the nearest towel she could and made her way towards the familiar, however; she was stopped at the next set of actions. Azriel took the plate away from Sodom, and questioned her ability. She wanted to comfort Sodom, but found herself unable to.

The next course of actions, followed by words spilling from the familiars mouth, had elicited a reaction from the pure-blood she wasn't quite sure how to react to. He declared her dish as something not delicious, and to prove it, he tasted it. She winced a bit, waiting for the harsh words to fly from that mouth of his, however; only silence greeted them. It was an odd sensation and something that she found rather unnerving. It didn't serve better when he fixed her with that look of his. Then, words left his mouth. Was he demanding curry from her? After what he just stated, he was demanding her curry. The irony was just too much for Haruka as she finally allowed the laugh she had been holding in to escape. She truly did have a death wish for laughing at the pure-blood, but regardless, she now has something she could hold over the pure-blood. Why did that make her happy?

"As you wish," she couldn't help but state, although it came out a bit more endearing than she had intended. Maybe she finally snapped? Or perhaps she finally just lost all sense of reality and was now in a world in between? Really, she hated the pure-blood, but this...this was something she was going to record in her memory and have for a while. She felt a swelter of pride fill her being as she obliged the pure-blood, grabbing a larger plate than Sodom's (since Sodom was a small creature) and filled it with her cooking. She placed the plate in front of the pure-blood and went to clean the mess she had created before making her own plate. Although she truly wasn't hungry, so she opted to play with her food for a bit.

Finally. Sodom cannot help but beamed very brightly at the words that escaped his Master's mouth. His Master demanded curry. "Master really is the shy type, aren't you?" Without another word, Azriel delivered a painful flick to the familiar's nose in which Sodom wailed once more. "Master is being a meanie! Meanie! Meanie!" In any case, the pure-blood decided to ignore the incessant cries of his familiar as the girl indulged with a laughter. When did the world turned upside-down and he was someone to be laughed at? Truly is she laughing at him? How he wanted to tear her throat and to say that she has no right. Yet, it would impossible for him to do such a thing. Then again, there was also this sense he did not mind her voice that much. So, he let her laugh like that.

Then, a plate of curry was served before him. He directed his eyes to Sodom who was still crying about the flick he did. "Don't waste your food or I will eat it." This effectively silenced Sodom who immediately ate his portion. There was no way he would allow his Master to hog all of the curry. Seeing this, Azriel was finally able to focus on the meal before him. He then ate the curry with a rather pronounced elegance that was inherent in him. It was then his eyes traveled to the girl who seemed busy with playing with her meal. "Don't play with your food." He stated as he took another bite from his plate. Whether he was enjoying the curry or not, it cannot be observed as his face remained indifferent. Yet, he was the kind who would not eat anything he does not favor to begin with.

"There will be a party." Azriel noted once he was done with his meal. His eyes glanced at the girl. "You will attend with me." His voice once more did not leave any room for arguments. Although, there was a certain glint in his eyes of concern. However, it was so easily ignored as it turned into an illusion. "Once there, don't stray from my side. I cannot protect you when you're not near me." For once, the cold tone he used held a degree of truth. Actually, he did not see any reason to lie to the girl. So, he never did. After all, there was no use having the effort to do so. Standing from his seat, he picked his plate and Sodom's which were both empty. He looked at the girl's plate as well. "Done." In his monotone voice, one would wonder if he was aking a question or not. But actually, he was.

Haruka kept her attention on her plate, pushing pieces of the rice into the curry sauce and watched as the two mixed. The white coloring was becoming stained with the browns of the sauce. She knew it would be cooling down soon if she didn't eat it soon, but she couldn't force herself to eat something when she herself wasn't hungry. She heard Azriel state to Sodom to eat his curry otherwise the pure-blood was going to and then for her to not play with her own food. She frowned slightly, resisting the urge to roll her eyes when the soft purring of Jiro captured her attention. He gave her a look that said how could you forget about me, as she smiled at the cat. Quickly standing from her spot, she grabbed a bowl and placed a small portion of her meal into it and gave it to Jiro. She wouldn't be wasting her food then. She could give the rest to Sodom, but before she could even ask, he spoke.

"A party," she couldn't help but repeat. She didn't know he had such things. Weren't they usually labeled as formal Ball's or something similar? She ignored the feeling as she finally met his obsidian gaze. A frown marred her face when he spoke of her to not stray from his side. If this was such an event, then why bother going in the first place? That did not make sense to her at all. Even so, why should she go if all she would be is a hinderance to the pure-blood? Regardless, she had already learned that to avoid pain and torture, she wouldn't go against his word. At least not for now she wouldn't. She hadn't even realized she absentmindedly ate her food as he stood from his seat, stating (or questioning, she couldn't tell) she was done. She lanced down at the empty plate now and sighed. So maybe she was a little hungry.

"I'll take care of them," she stated with a sigh, standing from her chair as well, grabbing her empty plate and Jiro's from the floor. She went to collect the plates from the pure-blood, and for a moment, she felt a skip of something. She didn't know what it was, and she stopped momentarily in her place. She was going to take care of the dishes, after all she was the one who cooked. It was only what she had been taught. The one who cooks cleans up their mess as well. With that in mind, she took the plates and piled them in with the dishes, allowing the warm water to sooth her hands. She hadn't realized she had been clutching the dishes tightly either. Well, this was surely an interesting night, and now she gets to attend a party with the one thing she'd rather not. One thing was for certain in her mind, she had truly lost it if she was even considering the thought.

The plates were removed from his hands as the girl decided to take care of it. If she wanted to do that, he had nothing to say against it. Thinking about this so-called party just came out of nowhere. He was not certain who was the organizer however, the majority of all the vampires were invited. The Celestias, the Morgans and other affluent and influential families of the vampire world. He saw the invitation that was placed on the desk at the study. It was insinuating and outright challenging him with such poetic words. As such, he knew for a fact that the girl would not be completely safe if he chooses to leave her here all alone. He hardly cares for her welfare. Even if she runs away, there was no severing the twisted bond they now shared. But, the fact this place might be targeted because his one weakness was home alone. He cannot afford that. This Mansion had enough attacks for a lifetime. There would be no second time on his watch.

"Haruka." This was the second time he called her name. However, this was the first time he had done so without the need of a lie. He only does this when he acknowledges someone for a specific ability. Well, he could have called her Kurosawa but the face of Yoshiro bothered him. In addition, he never called a person the same name. So, this was the only thing he called her except for tool, you, woman, or wench. "This is a formal event." Noticing her hold on the dishes, he approached and took them away from her hands.

"The Nouralail is respected but has a lot of enemies from both vampires and humans." He stated, as he proceeded to wash the dishes in her place. There was a prevalent grace in the way he does it. "To get to me, they will get to you." Ordinarily, he would have not inform her anything and just dragged her to anywhere he liked. As for danger, he would handle it since the girl was easily frightened and was incompetent in front of the vampires. But, she cooked well. Then, there was the inviation dripping with many connotations and most of them were not entirely pleasing to him. So... "Do you understand." There it was again the monotone voice that was natural for him. Yet, it was a question.

She seemed to have drowned everything out as the water ran. The only thing that snapped her out of her dream-like state was the sound of her name. It hadn't come from Jiro or Sodom. It came from him. This was the first time (she didn't count the first one truly at her home) he addressed her as such. She turned to see him approach and took the dishes from her hands. He proceeded to wash the dishes and spoke of the enemies his family possessed. It was natural that a vampire would have enemies. Humans as well, it was just a vicious circle of life. This she knew a little about. Although she hadn't known enemies truly, she never gave anyone reason to hate nor like her. She settled for neutrality regardless of her closed off ways.

She only sighed deeply when he mentioned her. Not only was she a tool to this man, but to his enemies as well. She would have scoffed at the bitter-sweetness of it all had she been in the right state of mind. So, in order to prevent being used any further, all she had to do was remain at his side. Easy enough. If she could pretend for the sake of her parents, then for the sake of her own life (or was it for him?) she would do as she was told awhile longer. She glanced at him when he finished speaking. She understood. That much she truly did. Wiping her hands on a nearby cloth, freeing them from any access water, she gave her full attention to the pure-blood, her stone eyes reflecting something she wasn't quite sure how to describe.

"I do," she replied. He mentioned it would be a formal event. That meant she had to have something pleasant to wear. She could find something and put it together that would be pleasing enough, and also cover the mark on her chest. Her hand rested on it slightly as her thoughts blanked. She finally came to realization that not only would she be attending a formal event, but she'd be attending an event that would no doubt house vampires. So far, her fear had seemed to be suppressed at the current moment. Maybe it was because Sodom and Jiro were around, she didn't know. But would she be able to contain it there? She'd deal with it when the time came.

There was silence at Azriel's end. He contemplated if she could handle such an event. Back then, their sharing of a room at the academy was a breeze for him. It was because she had this great fear of vampires. Thus, it was easy for him to make the girl stay away as far as possible. This time, it would be different. He cannot afford to have her far from his reach. "Sodom and Jiro will be there with you." He reached for a towel and wiped his hands dry as well. "I will be waiting for you at the foyer." The pure-blood noted for her as she would need to prepare and all. It will be the same for him but he had deduced women needed more time than men could ever do. But before he stepped away from her, he noticed a speck of curry traces at the corner of her mouth. Normally, he would have ignored it. But, somehow, there was this inkling. May be, it was because he was back at his home, may be it was due to the song, due to the curry... due to...

His hand reached out unconsciously and removed the trace with a gentle swipe of his finger. He then placed the said finger to his lips and licked it clean from the leftover curry. His eyes held a brief flash of disappointment as there were no more curry. Such a glint should be considered childish and unfitting for him, but it was soon gone allowing it be a mere hallucination. "If you ever feel fear that paralyzes you. Remember, I am the only one allowed to do that." He let his hand near his lips to fall to his side.

"So rise. I would not have it any other way." After stating that, he turned his back at her. Soon, he was out of sight as Sodom hovered near Haruka and smiled warmly. "Don't worry Lady Haruka! We won't let anything happen to you ever!" Then, the familiar had a thoughtful look. "Does Sodom need to wear a tuxedo since it's a formal event?" He then looked at Jiro then to Haruka. Because, he specifically wondered if he had any at all. "I bet Lady Haruka will look very beautiful! Go knock Master a peg down again!" Whether that was out of the most innocent notion, this night was yet to come to an end. After all, a meeting that spanned generations was about to be unveiled.

Jiro and Sodom? Wouldn't that create more hindrances? If she had to keep an eye on her own familiar, it would only cause her worry. Jiro stared up at his master, eyes sharing the concern she had. As much as he'd like to be there with her, he didn't think it was wise either. He'll be there in another way for her. As for Sodom, he was Azriel's familiar so that was his decision to make. If Sodom would be there, then that would be enough for Haruka. At least so in her mind, so she shook her head. She glanced at the pure-blood as he dried off his hands, however; he didn't step away. He did something rather odd and unbefitting of himself, or at least that was the impression she had. His hands reached out to swipe some left over curry on the corner of her lips. He then licked it from his hand, and for a moment, Haruka thought she saw a disappointed look in his eyes. The inkling was ignored previously as she was listening to his speech. And then there he was again, stating he was the only one who could cause her such fear. The notion had left a feeling of heat flooding her face. Such a notion, an action, was something that shouldn't be shared so easily.

"Easier said than done," she whispered when the pure-blood left. Sodom brought her back to reality with his question. "I am sure you do not, but regardless, you will look handsome if you do wear one," she stated, leaning so that she pecked the black familiar in the middle of his forehead with her lips. With a deep breath, she left the kitchen and made her way towards her room. She was to get ready. It wouldn't take her long really, but since it was a formal event, she would need to at least take care in her appearance. She didn't have very many nice articles of clothing. Things like that didn't matter to her, especially when she had grown up in a hunter's home. Appearances meant very little in the Kurosawa house-hold. With that in mind, she rummaged through what clothing she did have. Then, she found it. The one thing that would be fitting to wear and still manage to hide the mark across her chest. It was a simple black dress. Nothing too revealing, and covered everything that didn't need to be seen.

Now it was time for her hair after slipping into the article of clothing. She found the clip her mother had given her for her birthday last year. It was a turqoise color, a contrast to her orange hair and would without a doubt be noticeable. Pulling her hair up into a loose bun, she clipped the clip in place, allowing some of the strands to fall behind her in elegant waves. Next, it was time for the one thing she hated most. Make-up. She didn't see a need for it as it only irritated her. Once, she had forgotten she was wearing it and had rubbed her face with something, smearing it in the process and gave her a rather, unforgettable appearance. So, this time, she'd just do it rather lightly. Once she was finished, she did a once over and seemed satisfied. She didn't want to have to put too much effort into her appearance if she wasn't really going to be noticed that much. As such, she glanced at her familiar and Sodom, her eyes giving the questioning glint before walking out. She'd make her way to the foyer to wait for Azriel if he wasn't already there.

Eyes held great contempt towards the invitation in his hand. If it was possible that such emotions could be delivered to the sender this way, he would already slaughtered the proponent of this party. He disliked such public events and rarely attended any of it. If he does, he has a purpose, specifically towards someone that earned a spot in his grand design. Keeping the offending paper, he proceeded to the foyer where he had deigned to wait for the girl. Truly, he did not like to have her accompany him to this charade. It is true that the news of him taking a wife had spread like wild fire to the vampire society. Many had already asked for a chance to meet her.

This only meant one thing as well. She will be viewed as a threat or an asset by those people who wanted to destroy or to use him. It would be problematic but, leaving her behind was not also an option for him. So, he would just have to keep a close eye on her. As he arrived there, the girl was not yet present. He simply stood there donning a tailored black suit with a white inner shirt. It fitted his form quite majestically. He wore a coat around his shoulders and somehow, he seemed to be a character that literary stepped out of a painting about a duke or prince.

Few minutes passed by, his patience was soon rewarded when the girl made her appearance. His eyes of ash onyx affixed on her form. It seemed he would rather have a hard time from keeping the eyes of annoying maggots away from her. Although, he would rather bite his own tongue than to tell what she looked like right now. "Finally." He noted as he removed the coat around his frame and placed it over hers. After wards, he walked away knowing the girl will follow. The car was already waiting outside. Once, they were inside. The driver drove to their destination.

There was just silence as Azriel did not speak throughout the duration of the trip. But once they arrived, he could see that there were already a lot of people judging by the sheer noise and senseless chatter. The car door opened as he stepped out first. From the simple notion, he already captured the attentions of the vampires. He was well-known and recognized as the Nouralail pure-blood. He then turned to look at the girl before presenting his hand to her. "Come here."

She wasn't in a rush to leave this place. As odd as it might have sounded in her mind, she didn't want to leave the place because it meant traveling to another unknown location. So, she opted to take her time to the foyer. She had allowed her hands to trace the contours of the mansion as she finally approached her destination. There stood her husband adorned in a tailored outfit. In reality, he looked like one of those characters who were sophisticated and regal in their appearances and only came out in those drama's her mother liked to watch. Although she wouldn't admit it outloud, he had this inkling to him that she couldn't help but smile once more. He placed his coat around her as they made their way to the car. She was so confused really. Everything seemed to have stopped. Maybe fate was playing her wicked game again on Haruka, luring her in with sweet whispers.

In a matter of minutes, or was it hours, they arrived at their destination. There were people present already and were chatting amicably amongst each other. She felt her breath tighten against her throat as a wave of nervousness filled her. It wasn't fear, just her nerves. Her attention was garnered by Azriel who offered her his hand and told her to "Come here". She hesitantly obliged, slipping her hand in his as she stepped out of the car. Instinctively, her hand clutched tighter against his as the scents of various vampires assaulted her nose. They were all different, but at the same time, all the same. They were pungent and disgusting, however; she found it odd that his wasn't. She glanced to the vampire at her side. His eyes were fixed on the people around them as well.

"Just a few hours," she repeated like a mantra to herself. All she had to do was think of this as her parent's home. Only with more vampires. She couldn't stop the goosebumps that pelted her skin and the shiver from falling down her back. How odd it was to feel this fear again when she hadn't felt it so much when they were at the Nouralail Mansion? But then, his words rang through her ears. She sighed, and took a deep breath, allowing him to lead the way to where ever it was they were going.

“Life is never easy, and I shouldn't expect it to be.”

Twenty-Four hours earlier

A breeze swept across the field where two people stood, each holding a sword. Hikari stood across from her adoptive father, the man who had taught her how to be a hunter so she could protect herself against the vampire that had killed her family...if only she knew the truth. They both looked out of breath, but Kari was more beat up than the older man before her. She had slices on her stomach and sides, each of them from when she lost a match. "Again!" His gruff voice shouted from across the field, making Hikari flinch, but she didn't hesitate as she ran towards him, sword raised and at the ready.

"I suggest a blade. It would at least inflict a wound and even useful against humans."

The Pure-Bloods voice rang in her head as she swung on her father, aiming for his neck, through he easily blocked and swiftly kicked her in the stomach, sending her flying a few feet into the air and then into the ground. Hikari forced herself to sit up as she gasped for breath. "Stand up!" He called out once more, unrelenting when it came to her training. She forced herself to stand as she raised her sword once more, ready to attack when the order was called. The two watched each other carefully before he screamed out once more."Again!" He snapped, and as soon as the words left his mouth, she jumped towards him, using an air attack this time. He raised his weapon just in time, making the two swords clang together before the real battle took place. their swords made contact over and over again as their boys moved in blurs across the field. Another loud clang sliced through the air once more as Kari was pushed backwards into the air.

She raised her sword in defense, blocking the attack that would have sliced through her skin like a knife slicing through butter. Her father expected this through, and so he used his other hand to punch her in the stomach and send her flying backwards once more. Hikari grunted as she landed on her feet in a crouching position and slide backwards, stirring the dirt and sending it into the air around her. "Again! You need to cut my left shoulder before we can stop." he said while holding up his blade. Hikari grimaced and ran forward once more. They both moved at the same time, her aiming for his should and him moving to block, however Kari was going for his right shoulder instead of his left. At the last minute she spun around, dogging his move to block her sword, and slashing towards his left shoulder until she felt his skin slice open.

His moved his own sword, aiming for her side and making her blood stain the ground before she could jump away. "Why would you do that?! I got the point, it was over!" She screamed holding her side. he merely shrugged, the shoulder wound seemingly nothing. "By using that move to get my shoulder, you left your left side open to attack. If you are fighting a vampire, they will not stop to end your life, if you leave any blind spots, you're as good as dead." He sheathed his sword as he spoke. Hikari held up the hand that was now covered in her blood as her world blurred. "Grandfather would have never purposely done that.." She spat at him as her world tilted to the side. "That is why you were never taught in sword fighting." He said as her world went black.

. . .

Hikari woke up after five hours of sleep, her mother had banged up her wounds and cleaned up the blood, luckily her father as only attack aiming for her stomach, and not her legs or arms or face, so she didn't look like she had been beaten up unless someone somehow got a glimpse of her bruised and cut up stomach. She winced before shaking her head in annoyance. "I go on vacation from school and end up in worst condition than when I left. Go figure." She rolled her eyes before pulling on a t-shirt over her bandaged chest and stomach before padding out of her room and down the hall to where her parents sat at the dinning room table. She silently sat down with them while drinking the cup of tea that had been waiting for her. Hikari, you have mail." Her mother, well her adoptive mother, said, handing a fancy plain while envelope to the younger girl, who rose her eyebrow.

After carefully opening the letter and reading the contense, she nearly screamed. "What the fuck?" she said plainly, making both her parents look up sharply at her. "Watch your mouth young lady!" SHe mouth scolded while her father just shook his head. "Who ever sent this letter must be mixed up in the head, because they are referring to me as a Vampire and their asking me to attend an All Vampire Party...the hell man." She said shaking her head and throwing the paper down in the middle of the table. She watched as her 'parents' shared a look before turning towards her. "I think you should go." Her father stated before going back to drinking his tea. Hikari looked at him as if he had just grown a second head. "I never knew you had just a broad sense of humor." She said dryly, making her mother snort. "Vampire's do not make mistakes, if you were invited to a Party being hosted by a Vampire, surly you will be safe, seeing as to the fact that you are invited. They will know you are human and they will stay away, you have enough training to protect yourself if need be." He never once looked at her, and a strange feeling settled into her stomach.

"Don't you think it's just..stupid? Sending a human into a party for JUST VAMPIRES?! I know what your getting at, you think something is going down, and if I go we'll have eyes and ears on the inside, well you know what, I'm not gonna stick my neck out for those damn vampires or be you friggin spy!" Her voice raised as she spoke before she stood up and slammed her hands down on the table. "Your grandfather would have wanted you to go." He said cutting her off before she could say anything else. She stood there for a moment, with wide eyes, before shove backwards and making her chair scrape across the ground loudly. "If I'm not back by midnight, don't both looking for me." She hissed the words with so much hate it made her mothers heart sink, and then she was gone, down the hall into her room.

Not even five minuets later Hikari left the house with a bag over her shoulder and the invention in her hand. She would go to that damn party, but not because her grandfather would have wanted her to or her parents wanted her to, none of them were her real family anyway, when it came to family she was completely alone. She would go to the party because she wanted to find out what was going on.

Present day

Hikari neared the location of where the part would be held dressed in a nice white dress with a red pattern on it, and her bag slung over her shoulder. Most of her wounds had healed over night, and she had cleaned and dressed her worst cut before changing and heading towards the Party so none of the vampire got a better smell on her wound than they already would. To be honest, she wasn't sure why she was here, or why she was even going to this stupid party, but if someone thought she was vampire, they were very wrong, and they had to be corrected now, or never.

Let the party begin...hopefully it wont end with blood.
