âPhysical Descriptionâ
Out of both of her parents, Hikari perhaps resembles a mixture of the two. She possesses her mothers facial structure, down to the shape of her body, while retaining the coloring of her father. Her hair is a dark mess, the color perhaps resembling a deep, rich brown color. There are certain times where her hair will appear a deep auburn color, appearing almost like a maroon to rufous color. At other times, it appears a chocolate color. It is extremely thick, something that irritates her to no end as it tangles fairly easily. Her hair is fairly long, perhaps not as long as her mothers, but it reaches down just passed her backside and brushes against her lower thighs. She tends to leave it loose, only tucking it into a ponytail if she needs to, which isn't very often. Her bangs are perhaps a bit long, falling so that they rest against her collar bone and perhaps a bit towards her diaphragm.
The color of her eyes is definitely her fathers. The deep, violet color is reminiscent of the rich shade of her fathers, though there is a tint of something darker behind them. If one had to classify the color properly, they would consider it to be a Byzantium purple. There is a very light shade of blue crossing her eyes, giving them a lighter appearance at times. Her eyes are something of a mixture between fierce and warm. They are captivating, alluring, and sensual in ways that she isn't quite sure how it came to be. They are shaped much like her mothers, large, sharp, and pointed. This quality also highlights the predatory gleam behind her eyes that is slightly also very dangerous. She knows that, given her blood mixture, that there will be some type of exotic attraction about her, but it is something she tries not to think of. Though she has had her fair share of students, vampire and human alike, trying to get with her.
Her skin is perhaps a bit darker than both of her parents. Where they had porcelain-like skin, Hikari inhabits something akin to a lightly sun-kissed appearance. While not being overly tanned, she isn't exactly on the pale side. It is perhaps an even mixture of rose and peach, giving her a healthy pale color. And her skin seems to glow because of it. Like her mother, Hikari sports a very feminine body, perhaps a little more so than her mothers. She is rather voluptuous, having curves where she didn't think they were possible on a female body, and her hips are especially curved, if not a bit wide. Her brother, Ryoku, makes fun of her for this, calling her "Birth hips", and it is something she tends to take offensive. She didn't ask to grow into the body she has, and at times it irritates her. She tries to dress comfortably, however; with the school uniform, it is difficult. She stands about the same height as her mother and it only heightens certain qualities of hers.
âLove is for fools. My parents are lucky to have what they have, to still have it to this day. I do not believe in a love like theirs, because it is a fairy tale; a fairy tale that has no place in a world such as this. This dark, cruel world that will leave you behind the moment you let it in.â
âPotential Interestâ
None at the current moment: Hikari took after her father somewhat in the idea's of love. She wasn't jaded as he was, having grown up in a family that perhaps expressed too much love for each other, however; she doesn't believe that she would ever find something like they have. After all, who could love something like her; a hybrid, a mixture of two races? She is extremely cautious about the notions of love as well, because like her parents, she wants only one person for the rest of her life. Whether that person happens to be human, vampire, werewolf; she only wants one. There would be no other if her special someone died. And that is a risk she is not willing to take.
âSkillsâ
- â
Sword-Play || One does not simply grow up with Hikaru as a father, Shizuka as a mother, Sora as an Uncle, and Reiko as a grandmother, and not know how to use a sword. All four, experts in their field of expertise with Shizuka being an expert in kendo, an offshoot, taught Hikari, her siblings, and her cousins, the way of the sword. She is extremely skilled, rivaling her father and her grandmother to the point she is second to none, and only to them.
â Combat || Being born and raised in a time of war has left one little chance to live a peaceful life. As a result, she was taught how to fight not only with a sword, but her bare hands as well. She is perhaps the only one in her family, next to Trevor, who excels at hand-to-hand combat and isn't afraid to showcase it. She has been in her fair share of battles, both on the actual battlefield and currently during her days in Cross Academy. She is also very capable of fighting in her beast form as well.
â Fortune-Telling || More of a hobby than anything else. It was something that she picked up on as a child, something she couldn't quite explain to why she was attracted to such a thing. Unbeknownst to her, her grandfather, Aram, was actually a fortune teller himself, and could actually predict a person's future without his precognition. Hikari does not share that same precognition, however; she is able to tell a person their future almost as accurately. Though, there are a few people whose futures she cannot read, such as herself and her family. It scares her a bit.
âAbilitiesâ
- â Mark of the Shaman || This strange ability is speculated to have belonged to her grandfather, Aram. Its capability is currently unknown, however; should Hikari ever release this, she would possess the power of a light that will grant an unusual affect. She could summon a ring of light, literally purity at its highest form, and purify vampires and hybrids alike. This was actually one of the first steps the Prophet used to give pure-bloods the ability to turn others into humans. It also has a reverse side-affect. Should she be able to control it, she could also cleanse a human's blood and make a noble a pure-blood, cleanse the vampiric blood from hunters, rendering them human, or one of the hunters-turned-werewolf into a full-blooded werewolf or human. This ability was coveted from her grandfather and thought extremely dangerous. It is the reason why Aram went into hiding after the wars and only surfaced from time to time to help Reiko.
â Russian Roulette || Something very peculiar and odd, and another ability inherited from her mother. It varies from vampire to vampire, however; her blood carries certain properties that will have various results with vampire's own ability. For example, with one vampire, it poisoned him to the point that he almost died while another vampire had their ability amplified to great heights, however; it proved a bit too much for the vampire and it overwhelmed him. There was one vampire in particular, whom she doesn't really recall, who ingested her blood and for a time, gained something of an invulnerability to anti-vampire weapons and werewolves. He was the only one to survive. It is a game of chance with her blood, hence the name.
â Nullification || Inherited from her mother, Hikari has the ability to nullify a vampire's inherited skill. Should a vampire try to use their ability on her, it will not work, however; unlike her mother, Hikari can choose to nullify the ability or not. Also, she can shift this ability to others, using it as a shield to protect them. This, however, has a major draw-back. She is completely vulnerable to vampiric abilities and this puts her at serious danger. She doesn't shift for just anyone though, only for her family. If she were to ever truly awaken this ability, she would have the ability her grandfather had; the ability to seal a vampire's own ability away. It would require a great deal of energy from her and could possibly kill her if not mastered and utilized properly.
â Transformation || Given that she is the daughter of a pure-blooded werewolf and a hybrid, she has inherited their ability to transform into a large, wolf-like beast. Her beast form is similar to her mother's, however; where her mother sported white fur, Hikari sports a deep, blue-black color that glistens even more blue tinged when caught under light. She has the ability to shift at will, having learned this control a long time ago.
âTell me, what do you see when you look at me? Do you see something to be tamed, to be hunted? Do you see something wild, exotic, or something dull? I will tell you this; I am neither of those. What I am, what I can do, is something you will not live long enough to know.â
âOther:â
- Hikari was born with more wolf in her blood than vampire. As a result, she is more on the verge of being a full-blooded wolf like her mother is, however; the vampiric traits still reside in her such as the need to feed on blood every once in a while. She can survive without blood for a prolonged period of time, but because she is still half vampire, she can become extremely weak without it. Her brother usually takes care of that for her by providing his blood to her. She will take no other alternative as her body rejects blood pills much like her aunt Nicole's does. Though her allergen to the pills is much worse as it almost killed her once.
- Much like both of her parents, Hikari's blood is extremely potent. The blood itself is have been said to smell like something dark, silken, and light all at once. Perhaps more like the refined taste of a Cabernet wine or something close to the sweetness of a Moscato. The taste, however, is just as intoxicating, having been likened to something like her father's honey and chocolate with a hint of her mother's vanilla and cinnamon. The mixture is perhaps what draws unwanted attention, and she has had to literally beat vampires away from her.
- As silly as it may seem, Hikari is in fact afraid of loving someone, perhaps not for the same reasons her mother was at first before she met her father. Her reasoning is simply the fact of her own dislike towards herself. Though she doesn't showcase it to her parents, being half-vampire, half-werewolf, there is something that she feels repulses people, hence why she acts the way she does. She doesn't believe that she is capable of finding someone to love her for who she is and is content with that. Though she does secretly wish she could have something like her parents, perhaps not as rough but just to share love with someone.
- Much like her mother, Hikari is extremely ticklish on the inside of her neck. Though it doesn't stop there. She is also extremely ticklish on the inside of her waist where it curves and will keel over in laughter should someone manage to find those spots. Thankfully, no one has managed to find this out about her, except her father. He is the devil in disguise and will torture both Shizuka and Hikari this way, but usually it's all in good fun, though with her mother...she tries not to think about it.
- Hikari, undoubtedly, resembles her grandmother very much. She shares a lot of her traits down to the way her persona and aura tend to radiate. If anything, Hikari is more the reincarnation of Ayla than her mother, Shizuka, was. The only difference is that Hikari is not a full-blooded werewolf, though there has been some questioning about that. Her brothers have inherited both traits of being a hybrid, however; Hikari has inherited more wolf in her than anything. It could be the females of her mother's lineage inherit such things, but since Hikari is the only daughter of Shizuka, and Shizuka the only daughter of Aram, it is uncertain.
âHabitsâ
- â Cloud-gazing || When bored (and she usually is), Hikari will find a spot on the campus to curl up and gaze at the clouds. Something about them calms her and she is appreciative of that fact. Her mother mentioned it was her own way of meditation in which she cannot help to agree sometimes. After all, watching something so far away, so soft, so distant, tends to be calming because she knows she can never reach it to taint it.
â Singing || When by herself, Hikari will usually sing a tune to herself to keep her mind from wandering. It's something to pass the time with, and she is quite talented, however; despite her personality, she is extremely shy to sing in public. She doesn't take criticism very well and will take things straight to heart should someone tell her it's horrible. Her voice is usually very soft, melodic, and at times, hypnotizing. There is a certain calmness that it brings to whomever is lucky enough to hear her.
â Soft Look || For all that she is, when Hikari is alone, she can often be seen with a placid appearance on her face, something that is a stark contrast to her usual grin, frown, or furrowed look. This appearance is rather soft, almost kind and loving, however; this is usually only shown in her own presence or the presence of her family. Should someone manage to ever see this side about her, they wouldn't believe it was her.
âLikesâ
- አLightning Storms || She loves lightning storms. Something about the magnetism captivates her, and she will literally be the idiot who stands underneath a tree just to watch them clash against the sky. Unlike her brother, who hid during lightning storms, Hikari would usually stay up through all hours of the night just listening to it fighting in the sky with the thunder. She doesn't like the thunder so much as she does the lightning. Thunder tends to hurt her ears a bit, given her heightened senses.
አRain || From the small drizzle to the raging roar's of a hurricane, Hikari loves the rain as much as she loves lightning storms. The sound it makes when it taps against the rooftops, the way people run for shelter when it pours, down to the way it caresses her skin, she enjoys it. The calming sensation it brings to her is a welcomed bliss and at times she'll abandon her duties to enjoy a rain shower. She would be the crazy person standing out in the middle of a down-pour being drenched with a smile on her face.
አWinter || Something she shares with her father. She adores the winter time. The snowflakes, the snowball fights, everything that comes with the cold weather she enjoys. She would rather live in a world where winter is a constant season than have to go through the passing seasons. She loves the cold winter air against her skin, and because of what she is, the cold doesn't bother her at all. She could actually go out during a snowfall in a pair of shorts and a tank-top and still be as warm as if it were summer.
âDislikesâ
- â Lemons || There is something about the fruit that she does not like. Perhaps it is the bitter, sour flavor that accompanies them, or perhaps the childhood trauma of eating a lemon pie that was made entirely wrong by her mother. Regardless, she loathes lemons and will do her best to keep them out of her dishes as much as possible, however; when it is required, she will put as little as possible.
â Roses || She dislikes roses. She'll never give the actual reason as to why she dislikes them, but she has hinted that it has something to do with the smell. It overwhelms her senses at times and she doesn't like it one bit. Not to mention she has pricked her finger and scratched herself in a bush of roses once. Needless to say she has disliked the thorny flowers ever since and tries to stay away from them as much as she possibly can.
â Summer || The season in itself is not something she particularly cares for. It is more-so the hot weather that she dislikes about the season than the season itself. She cannot stand the hot weather and will usually become very moody and irritated. She tries to stay out of the heat as much as possible, however; she is required to spend most of her days outside to begin with (when at Cross Academy because of prefect duties). For this, she doesn't mind so much, but she still would rather be in the cool air.
âStrengthsâ
- ⊠Control || Where her mother had struggled a majority of her life to control her beast, Hikari does not share that same weakness. She is in complete control of her beast thanks to the training she received not only from her parents, but partially from her grandmother as well. She can shift at will without the requirement of a full-moon. Should a full-moon be present, however, her shifting is automatic, but she is able to shift back within the first thirty minutes.
⊠Efficiency || Hikari is, without doubt, efficient. She doesn't like to spend too much time on something and will often go about doing things fairly quickly to move onto the next subject at hand. Though one might think her lacking in those skills, everything done is without a doubt, flawless. She can accomplish a task without much effort and still make it appear as if she spent weeks upon it while in reality, having spent about, at most, three or four days.
⊠Stamina || Hikari has an endurance of something almost inhuman, which is quite laughable considering she isn't human. She is capable of staging out fights for days, fatigue never setting in until almost her fifth day. As a result, she is capable of enduring tasks that require such endurance, and though she may not be the most patient of people, she is usually able to complete the task within a few days time, no matter the severity of it.
âWeaknessesâ
- ⯠Loyalty || Perhaps her major weakness that is extremely dangerous for her. She is extremely loyal to those who manage to earn it, and as a result, she will go to any lengths for them, including self-sacrifice if only to keep them alive. She has earned her fair share of scars, but due to her regenerative abilities, she sports none of them. It also has a tendency to bring out her more violent and capable side should something ever happen to those she is loyal to.
⯠Disregard || Hikari just doesn't care for ranks and titles. Those pompous arses can shove the titles where it hurts for all she cares. This has landed her in some tight situations before, but she cannot bring herself to care. Because of this, she tends to judge a person by their worth, not by what they have done or have been bred into. In this case, it could almost be considered a strength, but because of the trouble it brings not only to her self, but to her family sometimes, it is a major weakness.
⯠Foul-mouth || And you thought Hikaru was bad. Hikari is her father's daughter, often letting her words get the best of her and flying straight from her mouth into other peoples ears. She lets her mouth get the best of her and she tends to insult people on a daily basis. Shizuka blames Hikaru most of the time for this, however; nothing much can be done about it. As a result, she has more enemies than she has friends. She could actually count all of her friends...on one hand.
âAccept me for who I am, what I am, even at my worst. If you cannot even do that, then how can you ever accept me at at my best? You will not deserve me at my best if that is the case.â
âPersonalityâ
Hikari is, without a doubt, the daughter of Shizuka and Hikaru. Everything from their temper down to their foul-mouth, Hikari has inherited. Her will is extremely strong, and it is hard to sway her away from something once she has made up her mind. Should someone try, they will find themselves ignored or perhaps scarred out of their mind with a string of colorful words. She isn't afraid to get physical if she has to either. She doesn't particularly care about a what a person is and will generally not hesitate to make it known. Whether that person is a pure-blood vampire, or a hybrid, Hikari does not see the difference and will regard people the same. This is another trait inherited from her mother. She just doesn't care about status'. They are about as useless to her as a leaky water faucet. She will stand firm in the face of any adversary and will not go down without a fight. Needless to say, she has been in her fair share of battles including the actual battle ground.
Perhaps it is a wolf thing, perhaps just something else siphoned from her mother, but Hikari is extremely loyal to those who have earned it. She will devote everything she is to that person, or group of people, who have managed to earn her loyalty, and within that, have earned a devoted friend who would fight tooth and nail to keep them safe. She doesn't play with the notion of people under her care being threatened by anything or anyone, and will not hesitate to bare her fangs at whatever it is that is doing the threatening. She has caused a few people to disappear before and will not hesitate to do so again. She is extremely sensitive to this part of her persona as she will usually withdraw into herself should her loyalty be betrayed. She doesn't take loyalty lightly and if she is ever betrayed by someone close, her temper and hatred flare uncontrollably. It is perhaps another reason she refuses to believe in love. She is bound by her loyalty to others, and could be her greatest weakness.
If there was ever a mouth on someone, Hikari would be that person. Out-spoken is perhaps putting it in mild terms. She will not put words lightly to save face, or keep someone's emotions in tact. While she does, in some way, care about certain things, being honest and direct has always been her approach to things. Beating around the bush, fidgeting, these are things she doesn't like, and will usually bring out the temper within her. Direct and forward, there is not a single word Hikari would not say, however; she is a bit more mild-mannered in front of her parents. The only thing that can get her to bite her tongue is her family and the very few close friends she has, which is to say none. Most people cannot take her direct approach and are often intimidated by it. As a result, Hikari doesn't have any friends except for her family that attends the school with her.
Despite her abrasiveness, Hikari can become extremely introverted to the point that she can retain a stoic mask, wiping everything from her face to hide whatever she is feeling. This nifty trick was picked up from her father who used meditation as a means to keep his two-halves pacified. While she does not meditate, Hikari is extremely calm under pressure and usually is only brought forth when her loved ones are in eminent danger. If that is the case, everything is wiped from her, temper, and all, and she will become a precise, killing machine. She does have her moments though where she can be calm, almost a serene monk-like state should she so desire to. These moments are not uncommon, but not as common as one would think given her attitude and outlook on life. Regardless, Hikari is simply a person who tends to wear her heart on her sleeve, though caged, and tends to piss people off due to her forwardness.
âThe past is what it is; the past. There is nothing more you can do, so it is pointless to hold onto it. We live for today, and only for today because our future is not guaranteed. But then again, that's the beauty of life, not knowing if today will be your last day or not. Can you appreciate it for what it truly is?â
âHistoryâ
Hikari was the last born child of Hikaru and Shizuka Minamoto, the youngest of three, and the only daughter. Her two older siblings were both male, one taking after the appearance of his mother while the other one inheriting from his father. Eien was the first born, he inheriting most of Hikaru into his appearance, however; Eien wasn't quite like Shizuka and Hikaru. When he was born, he was an extremely calm child, never once crying or throwing tantrums. He took everything in with apparent fascination and had a hunger and desire to learn. Even with the antics of his parents, their personality never rubbed off on him. It was often questioned if he was truly their son or not, however; his grandmother, aunt, and uncle are willing to give testament to that. It was also proven when he shifted. Despite his appearance, Eien shifted into the mixture of color between his parents, appearing as a metallic silver wolf.
Ryoku was the second born to the wolf parents, taking most of his appearance from his mother save for the eye color. When Ryoku was born, it was apparent that he was the child of Shizuka and Hikaru, throwing fits, destroying toys and furniture alike. He was a temperamental child and often tried to quarrel with his older brother, however; Eien was a much patient child, even at the tender age of six, and often kept Ryoku in line. It wasn't until almost eighty years later that their younger sister, Hikari, was born. She was born the last child to Shizuka and Hikaru, taking her appearance, strangely, from both of her parents. She inherited her father's eyes, and a strange brown hair color that could be reminiscent of her grandmother's, the first werewolf. As a child, having to grow up with Ryoku, Hikari learned from a young age how to defend herself from his attacks and constant chaos he caused.
She was perhaps a mixture of Eien's personality with her parents dominating the rest. She was extremely close to her father growing up, always trailing after him, even when she first learned to crawl, something Shizuka found absolutely hilarious. Hikari always wanted to be where her father was and she would often fall asleep only in his presence or on his chest as a child. There was something about him that she enjoyed as a child. As she grew, that only grew and she began learning from him, and occasionally her mother, how to control her own beast, so that she would not have to endure the split of his personality (before he became one again), and the hardship her mother faced. She was ten years old when she first shifted, something that seemed apparent with most of the Minamoto family, however; Eien shifted into his beast at the tender age of seven.
It was also around this time that the Minamoto's adopted a child into their family: Farah. Hikari was ecstatic at the thought of having a sister in the family and accepted Farah into the family perhaps a little faster than the others. Shizuka never told Hikari the reason why Farah was with the family, however; it was something that Hikari never cared to learn. As a result, she grew up with a sister, and that was all that mattered to her. During her childhood, Hikari learned from an early age that her cousin Naya, was extremely dangerous. Her explosive personality, the chaos she caused not only her parents, but her uncle as well, and though un-impressionable, Hikari would often join in on the fun, running around and occasionally helping Naya blow things up.
It came to a point in time that Hikari actually grew weary of these antics and only joined in when her cousin dragged her into it. She loved her cousin, she really did, and sometimes she just couldn't say no. During some point in her life, Hikari discovered that she had a crush on her cousin, Haru. She couldn't understand it at first, and though her mother encouraged her, Hikari was always reluctant to say anything about it. It was because of him that Hikari's view on love is a bit obscured. She had learned the type of person Haru was, a philanderer who slept and had multiple partners, and it was something that Hikari abhorred with a passion. She didn't believe in polygamy, and wanted something like her parents, perhaps not as violent though.
She couldn't help the feelings that she felt for him though. As she grew, so did they, and it was something she was trying to rid herself of. Plus, it was obvious enough to her that Haru did not return the sentiment and it was a thought that had slowly killed the flame that once burned brightly in her. As of now, it is a mere flicker, a dying flame that perhaps might extinguish soon if there isn't one to reignite it. Though she can't say she's particularly looking. She has viewed love as something that is beyond her, and that it is something unattainable for something such as she: a being caught between three worlds. She is neither wolf, human, nor vampire, and she is unsure of her place in the world, however; she is currently attending Cross Academy as her parents once had, with her family.
âI cannot pretend to say I can read the future, but I can give you glimpse into it. What you see, what you hear, may not always be what you like, but it is there all the same. You should accept what is, and do not try to change what cannot be.â
