Nasir waved goodbye to her before turning back towards the tree, his ax waiting for him. He looked up just in time to see Roshia watching him. He gave her a small smile before going to work on the tree.
Elwin had just got to their property when he saw the blonde girl on her dragon in the sky.
Wonder what that was all about. Going to have to ask Roshia. He decided he was going to stop by her house and visit before going to his own home and continue working on that difficult dress. A groan escaped his lips as he thought about it. The woman who wanted it was high class and royally stupid. He knew he shouldn't have taken on this project, but what done was done.
He walked up to Roshia's house and saw Nasir chopping up a tree. Elwin stood there, watching him for a moment. Nasir's sleeves were rolled up and his vest was off on the side. His scarf seemed to be missing and his shirt was unbutton down to the middle. Elwin rolled his eyes just in time for Nasir to look up at him. Nasir's cheeks were red and sweat ran down his face. Elwin, embarrassed, hurried into Roshia's house.
She was at the window facing Nasir.
"Have you been watching him this whole time?" He asked, walking up beside her and watching Nasir going back to chopping his wood.
"Not entirely, no. I have nothing better to do anyway, so why not watch the show right in front of me?" She asked him back, smiling up at him. Elwin didn't like where this was headed. He had to get her away from the window.
"Well lucky for you I can be your entertainment now." He smiled and grabbed her hand, leading her to her living room and plopping her down in a chair before taking his seat. She gave him a jokingly glare.
"So I went into town to give Mrs. LaBrem her dress, but she had moved to the other side of town, the one we don't really ever go to. Anyway, I didn't want to go home just yet and smelled this aroma of delicious baked goods and coffee and you know me, I love my coffee. So, I went into this absolutely cute cafe and it was busy. So I am like... he has to be good, right?" Roshia nodded, she was all ears, eyes, and mind on him. Just what he wanted.
"Well I get to the counter and this devilishly handsome man is behind the counter. His name is Atlas and he owns the place."Roshia's eyebrow arched,
"Like a book of maps?" She laughed.
"Poor guy.""Shush, this isn't about his name. Where was I... oh yes. So I get two glazed donuts, which were HEAVEN, and don't get me started on how amazing his coffee was. But he actually came sit down in front of me and started to chat. Even let me taste a cookie he was experimenting on. Lemon and Thyme I believe it was. He is so sweet and I think you will love him. You need to get out of this damn village and experience life out beyond this island. The city has lots to do."Roshia rolled her eyes,
"I have no reason to be going into the city, for one. I am glad you made a friend, besides your lady customers or me, but are you sure he wasn't interested in you, El?" She asked him.
"Oh for Heavens no. Someone as handsome as he is not into guys, I can tell you that. This is the perfect guy for you. He doesn't shun me, so you know... you should get along with him." He wasn't going to hope for something that would never happen.
"The guy is a baker... in the city. He is more suited for Ameria than me, but we both know Ameria likes to break things then hand them off to someone else to fix." She scoffed, rolling her eyes at the mention of their eldest sister.
"Well too bad, we are going to be meeting him later on today, well around night time. I told him I would bring you." Elwin said with a devilish smile.
"You did what?" She sat up, her face bluntly angry.
"You can be mad at me all you want." He leaned in closer to her,
"I see how you and Nasir have been looking at each other. This isn't healthy. You deserve the best for everything you have done and Nasir is not... well he is our damn brother." He whispered.
Roshia blushed hard and her brows furrowed,
"Nothing is going on between us." She hissed.
"How could you accuse us of something like that? Like I said before, Ameria likes to break things and hand them over to someone else to fix. Nasir needs to be able to interact with people other than for business. If you were here you would have seen him doing so well with the Taryn girl next to us, the one who raises dragons. I mean..." She laughed, her anger seeming to dissolve some.
"He did throw her into a thorn bush.""Nasir threw her into a thorn bush?" He asked worried.
"Apparently something went down to where she was in danger and Nasir saved her." Roshia said proudly.
"Maybe instead of worrying about something that isn't there, you can worry about yourself." She said a bit harshly. He winched. He was rarely at the receiving end of her anger, but when he was Elwin hated it more than anyone could imagine. Roshia was the one who figured out he liked guys before he even did. She even stood up to their father when he tried scolding him about it. Their father who Roshia adored more than anyone. She would beat up bullies who teased and threw rocks at him. He owed her his life. He knew what he saw and he was still determined to get her away from Nasir, as soon as possible.
"Sorry, what happened today sounds incredible, except for the girl being thrown into a thorn bush. Could you please just come with me tonight to see him and you can see for yourself that he is so not into me." She was silent for a bit,
"Why don't you bring him here? You can talk him into making a deal with father, if he doesn't already have one. Then you can introduce him to the family or just me, it is whatever. I have to get up early tomorrow and get some stuff ready for the summer. You know those damn tourist likes to get into everything. So have him come here before they show up and I can prove you that I am right, that he likes you." She smiled.
He sighed,
"I can try, but if I am right you have to court him" She made a sour face.
"Fine." Was all she said.
He got up, kissed her forehead, and headed for the door,
"I have to finish that god awful dress before I end up giving up completely. You deserve the best, Ros." "Yeah yeah." She smiled. They waved goodbye before he closed the door. Nasir had two logs in both arms and was walking towards him.
They glanced at each other before walking of in their own directions.
