Real Life Appearance; Although they are both based on the same basic facial features, there are several physical differences between Loy and his avatar self, Sirocco. These deviations are mainly attributed to his attempt at giving his Virtual Loss counterpart a “cool” and “kickass” appearance(which he failed to do, looking instead more like a serial killer).

Loy's hair in real life is black and, for the most part, uninteresting aside from the fact that it is a mess worthy of comparison with a bird's nest, as he rarely ever goes through the trouble of properly brushing it. It is relatively short, failing to cover all of his forehead and never being a hindrance for him. His eyes are hazel colored and his eyebrows lean more on the thin side. He stands quite tall at 6'1'' and weights roughly 74 kg, having a healthy body, albeit not strong or with a great build. His skin is pale since he, like practically all who have been trapped in Virtual Loss, is a gamer. Sirocco, his avatar, shares his same height, facial features including eyes, and hair color, making the two of them extremely similar and, to the eyes of anyone else, obviously the same person. His avatar, however, has longer hair tied in a ponytail that reaches as far as his hips and a white bandana that keeps it from covering his eyes and pushes it upwards in spike-like bangs. The bandana is large enough to completely cover his forehead and eyebrows and casts a shadow on his eyes, making his expression involuntarily look incredibly more menacing, which is also aided by a scar that extends horizontally across his nose (a detail included by Loy as he thought it would look “awesome”). He is also considerably more muscular and his skin has a more normal and healthy tone to it.

His clothing preferences are rather plain, often consisting on a T-shirt with an open button shirt on top and, if temperatures allow the option, he prefers long sleeves rather than short ones. His avatar, on the other side, shows a far more unusual style. He wears a weird, black sweater with no sleeves and a high neck; the sweater has a zipper in the middle in order to open it when necessary. Despite being a sweater, it is clearly an attire meant for a lot of movement given how thin it is and how much freedom of movement it gives , since it fully reveals his arms including the entirety of his shoulders. As far as pants go, he wears a pair of baggy dark blue and black- patterned military-like pants along with a pair of big, brown boots. Finally, he wears a very over-sized white belt.

Username:
Sirocco.

“Siro sounds a lot cooler though... wonder why I didn't just write that.”

Role:
Hacker.

“I guess I do know a few tricks.”

Age:
20.

“Not feeling old yet.”

Gender:
Male.

“Pretty sure I am...”

Sexuality:
Heterosexual.

“Does that have anything to do with the game?”

Love Interest:
Despite being entirely conscious of the fact that they are only bits of data of a game, he has a thing for mystical creatures and will unabashedly drool over many of the human-like beings in the game. This also applies to other users' avatars if they have unusual features such as horns, odd skin tones, eye colors, etc.
This is of course only a superficial attraction and he will not develop affectionate feelings or sexual desire towards NPCs.
Nonetheless, and as expected, this has sparked in him an interest to visit Lympha, Saltus, Ignis and (top of his list) Lux.
He doesn't have any specific crush.

“It's a game, I don't think there're any real emotions here.”

Personality:
In short, and to the surprise of many who first see his aggressive and sinister avatar self, Loy can be described as a harmless and easygoing airhead. And indeed, he rarely ever makes a big deal out of anything, even if it's sometimes attributed to the fact that he doesn't fully understand the situation. He tends to get bored of things pretty quickly and responds by subconsciously going into his own world and lose track of what he was doing and thinking, reason why he will sometimes seem detached from conversations. Since his thoughts also seems to jump from one subject to another rather quickly, it is very hard to figure out what is crossing his mind at a given point. While this doesn't necessarily mean that he is stupid in any way, it does imply that he is easily distracted and gives him a very distinct and odd pace of reasoning which is why it is rather hard for some people to hold a normal conversation with him.

He doesn't give much importance to most things and often takes on a slaphappy attitude even when faced with relevant issues, as he believes that every problem has a solution and that things will always work out somehow. This doesn't mean he will simply lay asleep as solutions rain down from the sky. He is often capable of finding the necessary diligence and motivation to fulfill his obligations, but will do so stress-free and doesn't appreciate it when others push him into getting things done. With that said, it is not in his nature to be upset. While most certainly not a genius, he is obviously a lot more intelligent than he usually lets on, as evidenced by the fact that, despite his modest take on it, he was able to hack into the most advanced game in the world (albeit with some help, of course).

He dislikes being the center of attention and avoids drawing the direction of the conversation towards himself, as he often doesn't know what to say. This is probably caused by the fact that he isn't exactly proud of many of his decisions in life and isn't comfortable with his current predicament. Perhaps due to this, he doesn't share his deepest concerns with others and finds it hard to expose his thoughts to them, especially when it is with people he has met online. He can be, on the other hand, a good listener and confidant when people seek him, even if he isn't on good terms with them.

He doesn't judge any person or situation until he has a good understanding of them, even if it takes him several days and hours of thought to do so. If asked for his opinion on most matters, he won't normally choose any particular side and often prefers to remain in a more neutral and, if possible, objective ground, which leads others to the assumption that he doesn't stand strongly for anything. And indeed, while not apathetic, he can be quite indifferent in many occasions, opting to adapting to others' decisions rather than defending any particular one. Overall, it can be said he doesn't have what it takes to be a leading figure and, being aware of this, will follow whoever he feels would do a better job. He is also very forgetful and disorganized.

Loy has a natural tendency to suppress and internalize all of his negative emotions, such as anger or concern, within himself and doesn't usually share them or get them out of his system in any particular way, resulting in him having a hard time letting go of those problems and sometimes becoming depressed rather quickly. There have been times when he has snapped after holding off on his indignation and has shown to be able to let out an incredibly more passionate and spontaneous self, becoming more outspoken and vehement. However, when the adrenaline passes, he tends to comically regret doing/saying what he did.

”Just a regular guy... yes?”

Pack:
[+] Rations (enough for a week for one person).
[+] Two healing potions.
[+] One whetstone.
[+] Large tent.
[+] Traditional lance.

Weapons:
Loy's weapon of choice is the lance, which he uses in a mostly intuitive and aggressive way. Since he employs a large amounts of moves that involve swinging rather than thrusting, he could use other similar weapons like a halberd or a poleaxe, which would be even more appropriate for him.

“Swords are kinda unoriginal, don't you think?”

Powers:
Loy's in-game ability lies in the short-range, limited manipulation of air. By concentrating on a specific location, usually consisting on one of his hands or the tip of his lance, he is able to pressurize wind and then release it in a current with power proportional to the amount of air that was compacted. While this ability holds little destructive power unless the air was continually concentrated for many minutes uninterrupted, Loy's employment of this ability is centered around using the wind currents to push himself or his weapon in order to increase his attack's destructive power or his own mobility, hence being able to move much faster and jump incredibly high. The speed at which he can compress the air depends on how much wind is blowing around him, making the process a lot faster in open spaces while severely decelerating in closed areas. Since this is an extremely complicated ability to use and Loy isn't exactly the fastest learner, he is not currently able to effectively use it in battle nor will he be in the near future, as it requires practice. This power is the source of Loy's avatar's name.

“I'm free like the wind, baby!”

Skills:
Computer Knowledge – Being a hacker by gathering bits and pieces of information from different people, Loy has become very knowledgeable on computer software and can identify many bugs, glitches and malfunctions inside of the game, along with ways of getting around them or fixing them. Given the situation inside of Virtual Loss, this gives him the opportunity to identify modifications caused by the arrival of the hackers and can move around them with more ease and safety without the need of outside help.

Reflexes – Loy's redeeming quality as a gamer, given his slow adaption skills and poor intuition, are his top-notch reflexes, which have allowed him to perform remarkably well in action, platform and rhythm games. This skill is further enhanced by great precision and hand-eye coordination. While this doesn't by any means guarantee any food on his plate, it does at least allow him to hold his own in a fight.

“I try to do my part for the group.”

History:
Born to Kyle Hoesli and Anna Lowsley and younger brother to Catherine Hoesli, Loy was born into a rather normal family environment. His father worked for a large company and was often required to travel around the country once every month, but given the brevity of these trips, it didn't quite have a substantial effect on Loy's development as a person, at least on a superficial level. Both him and his sister were able to have a paternal figure in the crucial moments of their lives and their mother was a supporting pillar at all times. And so, Loy's childhood passed by in a rather normal way; he had the same felicity and disappointments any other normal kids did, the same number of accomplishments and failures, and the same discoveries.

Even though online gaming was still not prominent at the time of his early childhood, he did become very attracted towards other types of videogames; however, his parents' strict rules on this matter kept him from becoming too enthralled by them and he ended up preferring other kind of activities, such as team sports and such. While much to his dismay he didn't demonstrate any prominent skills in soccer or basketball, he did become quite adept at swimming and his academic performance in school could be labeled as slightly above average. Slowly but surely, he seemed to find the place in society he wanted to fill and started to work towards it from an early age. It was soon after he turned twelve years old that, due to his father's job in the large company, his entire family was forced to move to a different place in a different country with a different environment. Although evidently hurt by the prospect of having to abandon his acquaintances and all he had accomplished in his hometown, he tried to do as his parents suggested and remained positive and optimistic for the new opportunities.

Even today, neither Loy nor his sister or parents would be able to answer exactly how it happened, but the fact remained that the smooth adaptation they had all hoped for never happened. While his sister Catherine didn't find an issue with making new acquaintances and hobbies, it only took a week for Loy to make a pariah of himself, as he was unable to identify himself with any of the already established groups in his new home. Although he made a few acquaintances, months passed by and he still found no one he could call a friend. Seeking refugee in the connection with his old hometown, he tried to remain in contact with his old friends; but, as happens with all long-distance relationships, the friendship faded gradually until he rarely spoke to them. Eventually Loy came to the cold realization that he was alone.

In another attempt to look for human interaction and closure, he turned to the internet and started frequenting forums and online gaming, this being the time when his days as a gamer would begin. Although he failed to find the closure he required, he did encounter a way to entertain himself and even made several acquaintances with whom he played and chatted. Since he had never enjoyed much the use of computers prior to that point, it took him two years (making him fifteen years old) to fully learn how to properly take full control of his PC. It was around this time when one of his now many acquaintances introduced him to the use coding programs (C++, Java, HTML, etc.), which he decided to learn during his free time. In a year, he had learned how to do basic programming and had become an active coder in several forums under the username “Gale_Master”. Since he spent much of his time coding instead of only gaming, he didn't become particularly good at the latter.

While their worry had been present ever since the family moved, Loy's reluctance to turn away from the computer's screen eventually prompted his parents to attempt to approach the subject and get him to open up to the world. After several discussions, Loy eventually recognized the unacceptability of his situation and agreed to meet a psychologist if he felt he needed help. While it did take many months of painful attempts, eventually he managed to open up and recover parts of his old self, once again making actual friendships and going out of his house every now and then. To his eyes, and even to his family's impressions, he had managed to recover a healthy lifestyle, but there were still some sequels caused by the years he had spent coding and gaming. He did not cut off from his connections in forums and games and remained active as a coder, despite not focusing so much of his time on those activities anymore.

Once he graduated, he entered college for a year, but didn't like the experience and quit, asking for another year to “sort himself out”. During this year, he applied for the testing pool for the new Virtual Loss online game, but failed to become a tester. Making use of the connections he had made along those years and getting his hands on a virtual reality helmet, he managed to devise a way to hack into the game, being under the impression that the vast majority of people would attempt to do the same (even up to this point, he still thought learning to code and hack wasn't a rare feat). He now lies in his apartment room, in a trance state he can't escape and, worst of all, he still doesn't even know.

“I've had a normal life.”

Family:
Kyle Hoesli – Loy's father; works for a company that required him and his family to move away from their hometown. While he seems to be out of touch with his family's situation, he is actually just as concerned as his wife for the well-being of their son.

Anna Lowsley – Loy's mother, and perhaps the family member with whom he is most comfortable with. She made numerous attempts to help her son realize he was letting his own life pass by and was arguably the one who was successful at making him open up once again.

Catherine Hoesli – Loy's older sister. She never got along with him and remained absent during most of his struggle with his internet addiction. She is in an internal conflict with the love for his sibling versus the irritation towards his weak-willed and obsessive tendencies.

Other:
He is bilingual.
