"About ten minutes," Kelly immediately interjected before Theo could get out a single word. He shot her a glare as she shrugged. "What? It's the truth."

Theo turned a bit sheepish for a second. "I honestly thought the grand total was zero. Damn, and here I was hoping I'd have a new record for longest I've gone without sleeping this century."

Kelly just snorted and shook her head at him. "No, you got in a power nap when the Keurig was heating up. Congrats, now go to bed. Tired necros are not impressive, trust me."

Angel:

Of course I felt bad for him, he stood up and said his goodbyes, but the vampire stayed, sitting down in his position. The silence was not awkward but all she did was stare at me and me being stubborn, I stared right back her until I rolled my eyes.

"How is this place going to keep me safe if I was stabbed on the first night?" I asked, I had to say something and since she seems to know much, so why not ask a question?

"It'll be safer once you get used to it," she said with a sigh. "Stick around one of us pros for a while and learn the ropes, I guess. And don't cross the fey. The only one I trust is my wife, and even then she's questionable at best." As much as Kelly adored Sindri, Sin was still a bit of a wacko when she had to be.

"You will eventually learn how to see through a faerie's glamour, you'll get used to that soon enough, especially now that you know what to expect worse-case scenario. You will learn how to barter with a vampire, how to get away from a werewolf without a scratch on the full moon. Most importantly, you'll learn how to defend for yourself against those none of us can trust. The city will not keep you safe, it will teach you, and you shall learn."

Angel:

Sht was talking proudly, like she achieved her life goal. But what I don't get is why Alfonso sent me here to "keep me safe" but yet people or well a vampire wants me to fight, clearly and openly saying this city will not keep me safe. That's it, I'm making an escape-plan, like right now, sad because Theo was a good company. I made sure nothing was plugged into me, like needles and prepared my migraine spell, and then, I just made a run for it the girl faster than my obviously, but my spell sent her down to the floor, holding her hair in fists, I chuckled coldly and ran, and ran, ran until anything, just far away where I can be alone, I finally came to a forest.

Theo regretted putting a spell on his house to detect magic signatures that weren't his own. In hindsight, it had been a good idea. Protection was always good, but the second the alarm went off right after he climbed into bed, his swears probably could've been heard a mile away.

He didn't bother changing out of his Batman pajama pants, just called up the signature and placed a tracking spell on it. The outskirts of the city were the worst, where rogue werewolves resided and the barrier between that haven and the human world was the weakest. He cursed a couple more times as he ran a hand through his air. One more time tonight he'd be going out, that was it.

So with a sigh, he took off his shirt, revealing a set of black wings that had seen better days. Flying was faster than walking, and the tracking spell would only last so long. Gods help him if she ripped her stitches or got hurt again. He couldn't let her get hurt on his watch. He owed that much to his own kids. With a sigh, he tucked his shirt under his arm, opened a window, and took to the sky.

I sat on the boulder looking around, the sun was warming up my back and birds chirping their songs, to be honest, I didn't know why I ran, Alfonso wasn't going to be back for me and I only bothered Theo, we've known each other a day but already he has seen me cry, saved my life and hadn't gotten any sleep because of me. I was enjoying listening to the birds when I heard a twig snap. I was immediately snapped out of my relaxing mode and looked around. I didn't see anything but a fast black motion. I knew there would be werewolves here, it's a forest, where else would they be. I heard another snap and turned around fast, this time it wasn't a motion, it was a figure, and it wasn't a werewolf, it looked like a black angel, Theo.

"Do you have any idea how dangerous it is outside city limits?" Theo hissed as his wings folded into his back once again. "Oh wait, no you don't, because you've hardly been in this place for two days." It was a bit of a ridiculous sight, a man covered in tattoos with tattered wings and Batman pajamas pacing back and forth amongst the trees.

It was almost hard to tell whether he was aggravated or just plain sleep deprived at this point. The alarm must've given him a shot of adrenaline though, because he looked just as awake as he did when she first arrived. "May I ask though why it sounded like such a great idea to run out into a strange place where no one really knows you and could mistake you for a normal human?"

I looked down with embarrassment, all Theo had done was helping me, I mean dang he literally saved my life, all I have done is being unthankful to him.

"Theo, I don't know okay, I'm so confused and sad, I feel like a loved dog being left at an adoption center, I don't know anyone and I miss my family, I just really miss everyone." and so I started bawling, again, this place has made me weak.

"Y-you donate have to be friends with me anymore, I understand" I sobbed.

He knelt down in front of her with a soft sigh, gently wiping a tear from her cheek with his thumb. "It's scary here at first, I get that. I get that moving to a new place where you don't know anyone and don't know your way around is frightening. You'll find your way though, I promise."

Theo placed a hand on her shoulder and locked his mismatched eyes on hers. "I know you miss your family. I know that it's not fun being away from them. But you're going to be just fine. You're going to find friends here, you'll find a place for yourself. It's a lot to get used to, but it's all going to be okay."

"Thanks Theo" I said, hugging him, I think it came as a surprise to him as his body stiffened, but he eventually hugged me back.

"Batman? Really?" I laughed through tears as I broke the hug, shaking my head. He looked down at his pants and nodded. I was about to get up but fell right down to the soft ground, feeling my eyes turning white, a vision.

"Run and hide everybody!" people yelled, panicking, running side to side, many entering their homes, I looked around, it was dark, I was standing in the middle of fey park, but the fairies weren't dancing, there were no fairies at all. "what th-" I mumbled to myself, why is everyone yelling and running to the big gates?

"Hunters!" I heard someone, now I understood, the city has been found.

He might've been a doctor in the past, but this was completely new territory for Theo. Taking her by the shoulders, he shook her gently, repeating her name in a progressively panicked tone. Not getting anywhere with that, he sat back on his heels and ran a hand through his already messy hair.

Well, this wouldn't do, especially not out there. If she didn't wake up in the next ten seconds, he was going to carry her back. Hell, he would have to regardless. It took too long walk, and who knew how many wolves would be around, albeit friendly ones.

It took him a moment to figure out just how to scoop up a girl in his arms, having been the one being carried everywhere when his husband was still around. Swallowing the bile that rose in his throat at the thought of his lost love, he spread and wings and pushed off into the sky. His wings weren't strong, hopefully they could make it back alright.

I woke up from wind, just wind blowing at me, making me shiver. I opened my eyes to see someone's chest and the ground, which was far away.

I screamed in terror. I looked up to see Theo, flying.

"What the fuck Theo, I'm gonna fall!" I yell, clinging onto him tightly. Finally I felt a thump, as we landed.

"I'm never flying Theo Airlines again." I said, holding my head in my hands, breathing hard.

"Hey, you were out cold and I was not waiting until you woke up." He shrugged and tugged a threadbare shirt on over his head. "I wasn't leaving ya and I wasn't sticking around either. Would you rather me drag you here via dogsled?"

The sass was strong with him right now. What did anyone expect though, he hadn't gotten any sleep and hadn't eaten a cookie all day. "Now, can I trust you to stay inside or should I get a bodyguard to accompany you around town while I take a nap?" Frankly, he didn't trust her alone, nor did he want to leave her alone. The city was a weird place, he wouldn't want any newbie out there alone.

"I had a vision" I mumbled rolling my eyes. "And no, I'm gonna go eat breakfast at that café place, you take like normal money here right?" I asked, I didn't have any other money than dollar bills. But first I had to change clothes, the ones from yesterday were ripped and bloody. The backpack was still in the hall where I dropped it off, I reached down and took another sweatshirt, a plain grey one, or nope, there's an Nike sign on it, so not totally plain, my pants were fine, I didn't bother changing them.

I reached down again this time to take out a 50 dollar bill from the pocket where I hid my money.

"Normal money works, don't let a vampire convince you otherwise." He rubbed at his eyes one last time with a yawn, completely oblivious to the vision comment. "Mind bringing me back a muffin if you don't go anywhere else? The banana nut ones are to die for." At least there was a possibility of yummy food for when he woke up.

"Don't get hurt, have fun, whatever it is that people say to teenagers when they go somewhere. Honestly I don't remember." With a two-fingered salute, the necromancer that was quickly falling asleep on his feet started back up the stairs with high hopes that he wouldn't trip and fall on his face.

Angel:
Theo looked like a cute little teddy bear with sleepy eyes, I awed inside my head.

"I'll see what I can find, and thanks" I said and opened the door and walked out. The sun was shining, the hospital or well Theo's home, wasn't far away from things, I saw a big building, probably a shopping center, you'd think this place was like 1860 or something, with one garden and hospital, but I was wrong. I found myself in-front-off the café and went in, the bell ringing, signaling I was here, the place was still empty, a few workers cleaning the tables, getting ready for a work day.

"Hello" I said and sat down in the sport where Theo was. A brown-headed middle-aged woman came to me with a notepad.

"Hello, ready to order?" she asked, still a bit tired.

"Yeah, um a hot chocolate and two hot sandwiches" I said, I wasn't sure they had it, I was too lazy read the menu. She just nodded and started walking off.

"And um ma'am" I yelled after her, she stopped. "Four banana nut muffins, please!"

It wasn't a few minutes later before the door to the cafe was kicked open, a boy carrying about three guitars walking in, muttering under his breath. It was the same fallen angel that had been playing when Theo and Angelina were there before, just come to set up for later that day. As usual, no one tried to lend a hand to help him with the equipment, but he was used to it by now.

He set the pile of cases on the stage while muttering under his breath. With a sigh he sat down on the edge and began to tune his instruments, completely oblivious to the fact that someone was in there that wasn't a worker. Music flowed smoothly under his fingers, as though he were destined to play.

Angel:

I picked up my phone and started texting Alfonso, it's a miracle that my phone had survived this whole time.

Sadly he didn't respond. I just sighed as the woman came back with a cup, plate and a paper bag, she placed them on my table and I felt my mouth water.

"Thanks" I said simply and took the bag.

"The muffins are for Theo?" she asked and I nodded, that's why she put them in a bag, I thanked her again and started eating, the same man that was playing when me and Theo were here was playing in the corner. He looked so, sad? But why would I care, Alfonso said I should care less for strangers, it makes me vulnerable. The man looked up, hair covering a side of his face, he stared back at me but me being me, I stared until he would look away, but he didn't.

Adam bit down on his lip after playing a few chords, trying to think up a set list for that afternoon. As usual, he lifted his head slightly and began to zone out while he thought, unintentionally staring right at a girl he'd never seen before. Once he had a list of songs whipped up, he shook him head to clear it out, only then realizing he'd actually been looking at someone.

His face turned pink as he looked back down at his vintage guitar, the blue paint chipped and cracked in places but the instrument itself still usable. He was tempted to use his wings as a shield from the girl, but if anything, it would've drawn more attention to himself, and that wouldn't do unless he was playing.

With another shake of the head, he began to strum out a new tune, a soft and delicate one that he'd learned so long ago. Hey, it was early and he was tired. Why not play a sleepy little song?

Angel;

The boy blushed and looked away, I was done eating by then so I left a 10 dollar note on the table, taking the paper bag for Theo. With one last glance back at the guitar boy, I opened the door and the bell signaled me leaving. I walked past a big board with papers on it. I stopped and back. There were different coloured papers, different sized and so on, they seemed to have announcements, ads and different calling for job interviews, which I needed, a job. I looked closely, once was for a waitress in the café, not really my thing. One was for gardener in the park, nope, I'm not sure I'll be able to enjoy the park after what happened. After 10 papers I seemed to give up, but a little red paper caught my eye.

I smiled and took my phone to take a picture to show Theo, maybe he could help me connect this "James". I speed-walked "home" and went right in, Theo probably still sleeping.

"MUFFINS!" I yelled, knowing it'll get a reaction.

Theo most certainly did hear, though he wasn't too thrilled about being woken up from his much-deserved nap. If there weren't any actual muffins involved, he'd be absolutely pissed. He stumbled down the stairs, almost tripping multiple times despite holding onto the banister with a death grip.

His eyes weren't even fully open when he finally got to her, with only pants and one lonely Spiderman slipper on. "What's it?" He mumbled, combing back his tangled hair with his fingers. He'd never been a morning person, not even when he had two cute kids to wake him up at the ass-crack of dawn every day. Except then he spied the bag of muffins and managed to perk up the slightest bit.

Angel:

"Ahem, Ahem, four banana nut muffins for king Theodore!" I presented and passed him the bag, now that I remembered Theo is a grown man, I should've bought 10 muffins, not four, next time. I remembered the guy in the café, for some reason he could leave my head.

Theo went into the kitchen and put some boiling water into his cup, well the water boiled real fast.

"Um, Theo?" I asked, he looked at me, mouth stuffed with muffins. "Do you know that guy who plays guitar in the café?" I asked, I should've asked about the job, but the boy was more interesting for now.

He held up a finger until he was done chewing his mouthful of vegan muffin goodness and forced himself not to take another bite. "Blonde mohawk, kind of resembles a startled raccoon?" When she nodded, he couldn't help but chuckle. "Oh that's Adam. Adopted son of the vampire lady that was here earlier and my godson. Nice kid. Why?"

Theo took a sip of his chai tea with a raised eyebrow before hopping up onto the counter. He'd given Adam his first guitar and had been the one to teach him to play. He'd practically known the kid since Adam was born, though Theo did know literally everyone in the city in some way or another.

i can't lie, something about this Adam dude made me want to know more about him.

"Just wondering" I said and stood in-front-of him. Even though he got a little sleep, he looked tired. He nodded.

"Do you know someone named "James Peterson"?" I asked, the room became quiet after my question about Adam.
