Height: 6'2''

Weight: Two hundred and twenty pounds

Build: Very tall and extremely muscular

Hair Color: Dirty Blonde

Eye Color: Blue

Scars?: Sam has many random scars across his body. One of the most noticeable is across the right side of his neck from an incident while playing as a wolf when he was a young child. Another scratch runs across his chest from when he was climbing a tree and fell as a teenager.

Brief Written Description: The very first thing that people feel when seeing Sam is intimidated, and they have the right to feel so. He stands at a very tall 6'2'' and weighs 220 lbs, which is all pure muscle. He has dirty blonde hair that is kept long and normally looks slightly scraggly. His facial hair grows extremely fast, so he always has stubble on his chin. Thick brows lie above his sapphire blue eyes that can be as cold as ice when he is angry, or warm pools of crystal clear water when happy. He has thin pink lips, and straight white teeth. When he smiles, it lights up his face and makes him a giant teddy bear, otherwise he tends too long angry or aggravated.

Clothing Preference: Sam tends to keep his clothing simple. He normally wears a simple pair of dark wash jeans with a solid color v-neck, typically black, gray, or white. Sometimes he will accent it with a leather jacket, or plaid long sleeved button up. He doesn't like to dress up often, in case he has to shift, and then it isn't easy to get out of his clothes. Not to mention he doesn't have too many opportunities to dress up anyway.

Written description: Sam may look intimidating, but his personality is far from it. He strives for goodness and peace, which is where he differs from most of his pack members. They have hatred for vampires, and even humans, but he is more accepting. Looking into the future, he only sees the town heading for destruction if all the hatred continues. He has a great love for their pack, and truly cares about each member. They are his family, and he would do anything for them. He makes himself available for any of them, and would openly listen to any of their problems. He prefers to be outdoors in nature rather than cooped up inside with the television. He is opinionated, and never fears voicing his thoughts when around his friends and family. He is a man, and therefore enjoys women, except he really wants to treat them right. He can count the women he has been with on one hand. He is hard to anger, but when he gets there, it turns to a blind rage. Very few things would be able to get him there, such as the loss of a pack member. He is very dutiful, and will mostly do anything Axel asks of him. However, he also really enjoys having fun and letting loose, and tries to bring that atmosphere around his pack when things get too serious.

Relationship Status: Secretly in love

Brief History: Samuel Xavier Pierce was born to William and Amy Pierce in the town of Bellingstone. They were both werewolves themselves and members of the Wolff pack. They raised him to know love and acceptance. He carried those traits with him for the rest of his life. Sam was an only child, and growing up Axel was like an older brother to him. Sam was always the more level-headed of the two, and attempted to talk Axel away from many of his not so smart decisions. Of course most of the time it never worked.

When he was in his early teens, he had been out playing on a lake of ice when it broke underneath him and he was sucked under the cold water. It felt as if a thousand knives were being stuck into him, and he panicked as he sank. He got himself turned around, and became disoriented. He would have drowned if it wasn't for an arm reaching down and tugging him out of the water. Surprisingly enough, it was one of the female members of his pack, Emma. He had never really noticed her before, but in that one moment he was struck by Cupid's arrow. Even though he was young, he fell in love with her at that moment. They became inseparable after that incident, and she fell for him in the same way.

They dated for a few years, and he truly thought he could be with her, for he wasn't in the makings to become any kind of leader within the pack. When he and Emma were only fifteen, she was diagnosed with a deadly case of leukemia. He stayed by her side the entire time, but she was taken from the world within a year. Sam was devastated, and turned to rage most of the time. He didn't want anything to do with the pack, with school, with friends, with anything. No one was able to talk him down, until his dad had a man to man conversation with him. He explained to Sam how a similar situation happened to him when he was younger. he had been completely in love, yet she had chosen to leave him even though they were engaged. His father had never expected to love like that again, until he met Sam's mother. He fell in love with her more than he thought possible. While the situation wasn't exactly the same, it helped Sam find peace. he would never forget Emma, but she wouldn't want him to go spiraling down a bad path. And there would be another woman that he would find and love.

After Axel's older brother Albrecht disappeared, Axel was thrown into the position of Alpha. And surprisingly enough, he asked Sam to be the Beta of the pack. He accepted because Axel was still his best friend. He wasn't sure he had the makings of a leader, but he would try his best. He was obligated to mate with the female Beta of the pack, Josephine. While he would have done it because it was his duty, he didn't love her like he had loved Emma. And until he felt that same kind of love, he didn't want to commit to anyone. She didn't want to mate with him either, so they remained friends. The entire pack believes they have mated, and they keep the ruse up for the sake of the pack. It is one of the only lies he has ever told Axel, yet he can't force himself to tell, because he is afraid of what Axel would say or do.

So begins...

Albrecht laughed, once such a familiar, comforting sound. Even his laugh brought back a wash of memories that she couldn't ignore or dispel. She didn't think she could possibly feel more uncomfortable. Leanna had already been faced with the stark evidence that the boyfriend she had no choice but to marry eventually disliked their relationship so much that he told women he'd met minutes previously that he was single. That revelation had been hard enough, but Albrecht was a new blow she wasn't sure she could bear to face.

"Hi," he replied, turning fully to face her. There was complete joy written across his face. How could he be so comfortable and nonchalant in this situation when Leanna could barely breathe. "God it's been ages since I've seen you...you're still just as beautiful, though."

His lips stretched into a grin. Those lips she'd become so used to kissing. But Leanna didn't smile back. Now there was a new emotion bubbling to the surface; anger. The pain had been too much for her to deal with and so, subconsciously, it had become anger. All the anger she'd felt when he had told her he was leaving rushed back. Anger she'd never let go with. Anger she'd taken on to deal with what had happened. How dare he? He had let her love him and then he'd left her! He had humiliated her in front of the rest of the pack and caused her to be pushed into a loveless, awkward relationship with his brother. And now he sat there, smiling and throwing compliments at her like they were strangers flirting in a bar. Like their history didn't matter anymore and he could just start afresh after all he'd done. Well that certainly wasn't going to happen! She was about to open her mouth to tell him that when he spoke again.

"I live here again, now. Just moved here today actually."

What? No! He couldn't be back. He had forfeited his place among this pack when he'd left. He wasn't welcome here anymore. She was the Alpha Female and this was her territory he was in.

"The West Coast got a bit tiresome, y'know. Right... You wouldn't know. Sorry."

Tiresome? The life he'd left her for had become tiresome? The precious dream he'd been so desperate to chase and willing to give up everything for was nothing more than tiresome now. And he was back, now. He thought he could just come back, take up his place as Alpha and have her again because he'd got 'tired' of the life he'd chosen? Well life didn't work like that and she was about to tell him exactly that!

"So, uh, how are you all? How's my dad, how's the pack?" Lea froze again. "Oh, hell, how's Axel? Did he find a mate yet?"

Leanna searched Albrecht's face for any sign that he was joking or pretending, but found none. He truly didn't know. And as quickly as it had come, the anger dissolved and was replaced by an overwhelming sense of pity. The situation between she and Axel was something he may not of known, but to be unaware of his own father's death was something Leanna had never realised he was. She thought surely someone would've told him. But he was truly oblivious.

Leanna knew she had to tell him. He was still the man she'd once loved and all his mistakes could not wipe away the emotions she'd felt for him once. He deserved to hear it gently from someone who cared for him rather than town gossip, as she was sure he would hear it from if she didn't tell him soon.

"Albrecht," she said softly, "Your father, he's-" She stopped suddenly, aware of a presence beside her. She turned her head to see Sam. Strangely, his being there brought Leanna an overwhelming sense of relief and she just wanted for him to take her hand and take her away from the whole horrible situation the Wolff brother's had managed to create for her in that diner that day.

"Ho-ly shit. Albrecht, it's been a long time, man," Sam's voice came. He was clearly as stunned as Leanna had been. Leanna looked at Sam with blind panic and concern in her eyes, though she wasn't sure exactly what it was she was trying to tell him.

Albrecht stood up to greet Sam. "Sam? God, it's been ages." He accepted Sam's outstretched hand but pulled him into a hug. "How have you been?"

ImageCaterina chuckled lightly, trying in earnest to wipe off the 'cat that ate the canary' smirk she knew rested on her lips. HE IS YOUR BOSS! Why on Earth are you eating up his attention? You have been in town all of five minutes, why are you being such a flirt?! She mentally reprimanded. Cat was never one to seek out a relationship, especially not ones of an inappropriate nature. She had never before had the time for men what with her position on student council, yearbook committee, job at the newspaper, cheerleading squad captain, over achievers club, etc. Yet here she was, fawning over this American like he had all the answers to what she had been missing in life. Pathetic, a petulant voice nagged at the back of her mind, but she quickly brushed it away when he flashed her a smile. The situation might have been, she supposed, remotely amusing to anyone who could of actually found it within themselves to have joined in with the canned laughter on the old sitcoms, though she personally couldn't find anything funny about the slightly increasing speed of the beating of her heart, or the way her eyes were lingering on his mussed-up hair that looked as if he had run his fingers through it about a hundred times. It may have been a cliche, the woman who was crushing on her boss, but it inspired no jokes in her mind.

"I really do truly hope it's the next chapter, I am so tired of waiting to turn the page." She replied, a ghost of some odd distant expression coming and going over her face like a ripple in a pond passing in and out of the sunlight. He politely offered her a drink after that, which in spite of the oddly shaped lump forming in her throat, she refused. Axel's next question was a plea for advice, and she could not have broke into a sweat any quicker. Why would he ask her that? If she says break it off, you obviously have next to no desire to stay with this mystery girl; she looks like some predatory slut, trying to wriggle her way into homewrecker status. If she says why not try to work on things, she seems disinterested and he might leave her alone. She definitely didn't want that.

ImageCaterina parted her lips hesitantly to speak up when she felt it, a low steady note in the marrow of her bones, in the gray matter of her brain, dancing along her nerves with the distant promise of coming pain. It pricked at the bubble of warm, vague happiness that had been fogging her senses since she started chatting up her boss and suddenly everything felt oddly surreal. She clamped her mouth shut, and whipped her head toward the door. Those eyes falling on nothing worth noting took to darting around the room in a flighty panicked way. What on Earth had brought that flush of power to surge in her veins? There was no denying it now, it was her magic screaming at her some vague warning. Wolves are all around you, the diner is filled to the brim with them. It tried to say. Albrecht, Sam, Leanna, Axel; they are everywhere. But she hadn't learned to speak the the language yet.

Caterina just wanted so badly to exorcize, cut that force within her body out like the cancer it was. Her breaths started coming in short staccato bursts through her mouth and she had the dizzying feeling that if she looked out of the corners of her eyes, she would see the world tilting around her in a physical manifestation of the storm brewing in her chest. But before Axel could ask her what was wrong, as that was what was obviously coming next with the faintly troubled line puckering the space between his brows, the static crackling in her blood crescendoed with a pop. Cat's eyes widened in horror as the bulbs in the over-head lights shattered one by one in a line, showering everyone in the diner with glass and sparks.

Axel sipped thoughtfully at the glass of water clutched in his hand, still watching Cat closely. It wasn't that he didn't trust her or something like that, he was simply still in awe that someone this attractive had come to work in his cafe. Granted, Leanna was still one of the most gorgeous women he had ever met. It hit him then and he realized in a moment of dread that she was right out there and could hear everything he said to this woman, a woman he'd met only hours ago as opposed to Leanna with whom he'd been cultivating a relationship for ages. Fuck...God damn it, he couldn't help but think, jaw clenching briefly until Leanna continued to speak.

"I really do truly hope it's the next chapter, I am so tired of waiting to turn the page." He nodded along with that, agreeing silently. "I hear you," he added to further express his agreement. Her way of thinking oddly reminded him of his brother who had, like her, left his home to start a new chapter. The damn coward...Axel wondered how his "new chapter" was going, where ever he'd chosen to start it. He nodded again when she denied the water, perhaps a bit surprised by it seeing as he could literally smell the rising unease on her. Was everything alright...?

ImageStill nursing the drink of water, Axel waited for some sort of response out of Caterina to address his question. It seemed he'd get one when she opened her mouth tentatively. Without a warning, her mouth shut and she turned to face the door.

"Cat...?" Axel asked curiously, slowly setting his glass down on the counter as her eyes darted around the room like she was suddenly fearful of something. Her breath quickened to the point where he became even more worried and even thought she'd faint right there. A line formed on his forehead, creasing in concern and worry for the Italian beauty. "Cat, wh-?" He began to ask her what was wrong, but he could barely finish his second word before the light bulbs throughout the diner shattered. Instinctively, Axel shielded his head from the flying glass and then waved a hand before his face to clear and sort of debris floating in the air before him. Out in the front room, he heard voices crying out in shock and fear. From the light that filtered through a single window, Axel blinked at Caterina with wide eyes. Obviously, whatever had happened must have correlated with whatever happened beforehand. He opened his mouth to speak at first, but closed it quickly and hurried toward the front room.

Image
It was much easier to see there, though still almost pitch black due to the basically set sun. However, heightened senses came in handy. Maneuvering over piles of glass, he started toward where Leanna had been sitting. Now, however, he saw Sam and Caro. He smiled quickly at the two. "Everything alright?" the Alpha asked, instincts kicking in. Surprisingly, he'd managed to stay calm, but that was probably because he knew getting too worked up would cause him to lose control and go into wolf form. Most wolves had a grip on their powers, but Axel was always a hot-headed man and he tended to lose a grip on reality and shift.

There was one person in the group, however, that he didn't recognize at first. They sat to Leanna's side and had such a familiar, wolf-like smell that he thought it was a rogue who had just moved in. Then, the face came into focus and Axel's hazel eyes widened. "You..." he said softly at first, unable to really put his thoughts into place. "You. You bastard!" Albrecht looked back with a grin as Axel almost lunged over the counter at him, grabbing the front of the older man's shirt. "You think you can leave and just come back here?! What the hell are you doing?!" By then, he was just about leaning on the counter with Albrecht's face held inches from his as the two men exchanged glares. Though the humans in the room wouldn't be able to really see the scene, they still heard the sound of Axel yelling. Their reaction was mixed; some patrons watched eagerly while others left in worry. They knew what the men in that group looked like-- tall and muscular-- they certainly did not want to risk being caught near their fight.

Albrecht was absolutely ecstatic. In only a few minutes, just about everything was rushing back to him. He was able to, if even for just a few minutes, pretend he simply hadn't left and he was just being greeted by friends. Or, perhaps, that everything was going to be perfectly fine and would go according to the mental plan he'd made up before coming here. As far as he knew, his father was alive. As far as he knew, he was the next in line to become Alpha male. He was absolutely oblivious and he didn't even seem to care.
Image
For example, he didn't even seem to notice how upset Leanna looked. She obviously wasn't as overjoyed as he was by this extemporaneous meeting. His innocent question, which he assumed she'd be able to answer quickly, seemed to surprise her. Lea gave him a look that almost unnerved him, as if she was trying to read his emotions or thoughts. Her anger dissipated and was quickly overcome with...pity? Albrecht's brow furrowed.

"Leanna...?" he asked, cocking his head slightly. "Lea, what's wrong?" Oh God, had he said something that upset her? Had he done something (besides leave the state) that got her angry? But, then, why was she pitying him with that gaze of hers.

"Albrecht...your father, he's-" Leanna cut herself off when Sam entered and, distracted by the other male, Al forgot completely about what Leanna had begun to say. Next, Caroline entered along with the old woman who Albrecht really couldn't think of a name for. He knew the face and he knew she was related to Caro, but he had completely forgotten her name in his time away.

Having greeted Caro, she cried out in joy and threw her arms around his neck. "You're back! God, I missed you!" Albrecht wrapped his thick arms quickly around the blonde, his broad smile still plastered on to his visage. Perhaps it would stick there forever, seeing as it hadn't fallen since he entered the diner. As she pulled away, he reluctantly let go of her and sat back down at the bar. "God, I missed you guys..." he mumbled, laughing lightly in a breathy manner. "I've missed you all..." In his mind, nothing could ruin this moment.

The blow out of the bulbs around the diner frightened just about all of the patrons. Albrecht leapt slightly in surprise, jumping off of his seat for a moment only to land back on it. Instinctively, he held his arms out to shield Leanna from the flying shards of glass. He may have left her for years but he still did care for her like he had before. Even Leanna would be unable to completely deny that fact. Slowly, he moved away a bit and settled back in his seat, ruffling his ebony locks with one hand to clear the glass from it. The kitchen door suddenly opened and Albrecht looked up as he heard an oddly familiar voice. "Everything alright?" The smile returned, yet again as the man's eyes settled upon his younger brother.

"Axel..." he murmured, expecting the younger man to come running over to greet him. The diner was quickly clearing, but he didn't seem to notice. Instead, the werewolf studied his brother. The clothing style of the shorter werewolf was still just about the same. All of the Wolff boys had worn flannel and jeans for ages. It was warm and it was convenient. But, his younger brother had, it seemed, aged a bit. His forehead had creased with worry upon entering, but he also just seemed older overall as compared to when he was in his twenties. It seemed like, to Albrecht, that the weight of the world had been dropped on to the shoulders of his only sibling. Why was that, he wondered.

"You..." Axel said softly, eyes wide as he looked at Albrecht. The latter smiled.

"Me," he confirmed, nodding.

"You. You bastard!" Al's eyes widened and his grin fell.
Image
"What...?!" In an instant, Axel just about flung himself across the counter and latched on to his brother's shirt collar, holding it tightly in surprisingly strong hands. He must have really gotten more into shape after I left, Albrecht mused, pulling his head slightly away from Axel as the man only pulled Al's face closer.

"You think you can leave and just come back here?! What the hell are you doing?!" Albrecht roughly pulled back and, unable to completely stop himself, fell from the bar stool. In an instant, though, he was back on his feet and glaring at Axel.

"What the hell, Axel?!" he snapped. "I leave for years and that's how you greet me?" Axel's jaw dropped and then he snickered harshly before quickly coming around the counter to stand before Albrecht. The two men were only an inch apart with Albrecht at six feet, one inch and Axel at six feet on the dot. The shorter man sized himself up against Albrecht would stared back with anger evident in his expression.

"You left the pack. You left mom and dad." He snarled. The patrons who had filled the diner now began to leave completely, quite unnerved by how animalistic the two men looked. "You were supposed to be Alpha, not me! I hope you're fucking happy now..." Axel threw a punch at Albrecht, but the taller male easily dodged it and then kicked Axel in the shin, summoning a sharp cry from the Alpha male.

"What the hell do you mean?" he growled. "Dad's the Alpha, I'll be the Alpha after him." A glare of hatred met him from Axel as the Alpha tentatively stood upon his throbbing leg.

"Dad died, you idiot...he's been dead for years and you haven't known?!" Al's countenance cleared and he stepped back slowly, processing the information. He was dead? No...no, that couldn't be right. That would mean Axel would be Alpha and Axel couldn't be the Alpha. He just wasn't capable of it! Albrecht had been training to be Alpha for ages and now it was Axel? No. He wouldn't allow it.

"T-then...then I'm Alpha, AJ. I'm back now and I should be Alpha." Axel had leaned up against a table by then, ignoring the pain in his leg. It was definitely going to bruise for a while but, given his wolf powers, would probably heal overnight. AJ shook his head and then snickered again at Al, which just made the older man angrier.

"You had your chance. I'm not letting an outsider run my pack. No, you left to explore the world and you left us here to rot. I'm not just going to let you run my pack." Al's face contorted in an expression one would easily find on a wolf's face. For a moment, Axel feared the man would shift right then and there in his diner. Instead, though, Albrecht clenched his fists.

"Screw you..." he muttered.

"Get out of my diner, you bastard. I don't want to see your ugly mug around this place again or anywhere for this matter. And if you try to take this pack from me, I will personally claw your eyes out." He stood up quickly, the adrenaline coursing through him and allowing him to rush at the older werewolf who simply glared at Axel, looked over at the rest of his pack members sadly, and then pushed roughly against the door to open it.

Axel sighed and then settled back against the table, breathing slowly to try and calm himself. "I...I'm going home," he murmured, his voice monotonous as he started to stand. "Lock it up when you all leave, Sam." A light yelp came from his mouth, sounding very much like a hurt dog, as he limped into the kitchen to get to the back door. "Cat, I'm leaving. You better head out soon. No use working without lights." He didn't even wait for a response from the woman before he exited the diner and slammed the door shut. In moments, the sound of his motorcycle revving up was heard and Axel raced down the street on his bike.

Despite the pain in his leg, he wasn't going straight home. Instead, he'd probably ride around aimlessly for half an hour to try and piece together what had just happened. Then, perhaps, he wold return to the old cabin.

Albrecht, on the other hand, returned to his home by himself. The man who had helped drive his belongings over had, in fact, left the boxes inside and the furniture (or whatever furniture he had already) outside. For a while, he unpacked things and tried to make his new home as homely as possible. Earlier, he'd thought Axel might let him move back into the Wolff cabin but, now, he knew such a thing was extremely unlikely. By the time he'd set up a bed on his old couch, Al's eyelids were fluttering and, so, he laid down and fell asleep swiftly, still plagued with thoughts of that day.

Leanna watched Caro throw her arms round Al. "You're back! God, I missed you!" Albrecht pulled her into a hug, and Leanna didn't think she could be any more tense if she tried. She caught Caroline's glance of concern and just looked at her, wide-eyed. She simply didn't know what to do with herself. She had to get out of this diner, be by herself, find some space and clear her head. But she was almost afraid that if she took her eyes off Albrecht, he might disappear all over again.

"God, I missed you guys... I've missed you all..." He sounded so happy. And though she was in one mind that he didn't deserve any of this happiness and the moment someone took it from him he would finally get what was coming to him, some part of her wanted him to keep that smile and elated tone for as long as he possibly could, before his fragile world came crashing down around him.

Leanna was knocked from her thoughts suddenly as every single bulb in the diner blew out. The glass shattered and crashed onto the hard floor, sending shards flying everywhere. Immediately, she closed her eyes, turned her head away and pulled her hands up towards her face to protect herself, but she found them colliding with something else before they reached her. Her hands clasped against warm, muscled arms and suddenly she was surrounded by a familiar scent. It was Albrecht; she knew it without even opening her eyes. But she opened them anyway, as if it might change the outcome. But there he was, protecting her, after all these years. A connection that no time or distance could ever truly break. She watched him as he moved back from her slowly, trying so very hard not to let her eyes find his.

Suddenly, Axel appeared and Leanna watched as Albrecht set eyes on him, murmuring his name. The brotherly care and love was completely evident in elder, but utterly void in in the younger. There was a soft exchange between the two, before Axel launched himself at Albrecht. Leanna watched in horror as the youngest Wolff grabbed his brother, who struggled to get away and fell back. They shouted at each other, the argument growing more vicious. And then Axel said it.

"Dad died, you idiot...he's been dead for years and you haven't known?!"

Leanna wasn't the type to sit and let things happen, to simply standby and watch. But she found herself pinned to her chair, unable to say a word. She was usually so strong and resolved in her decisions, but this situation was possibly the worst she could ever imagine. She watched Al work through what he'd just heard, before telling his younger brother that he should be Alpha. Leanna noticeably winced at Albrecht's words. She knew instantly her former love had made a terrible choice. One that would be sure to rile AJ, and he lashed out in response, his words cruel and harsh. Leanna was torn between hatred, pity and loss, and the worst part was she didn't know for which brother.

"Get out of my diner, you bastard. I don't want to see your ugly mug around this place again or anywhere for this matter. And if you try to take this pack from me, I will personally claw your eyes out." Wordlessly, Al finally left, giving them one last, sad look. Axel then announced he was leaving, giving instructions to Sam and the woman he'd been talking to earlier, before exiting. She heard the low rumble of his bike engine as he pulled away.

Leanna sat in shock for at least a minute before she couldn't bear to spend another moment in the diner. It was then that she finally stood up, a shard of glass crunching under her foot, reminding her of the lights. Carefully, she made her way towards Sam.

"There's the number for an electrician on a notepad behind the cash register. Would you mind calling him?" Leanna asked, feeling guilty for asking something more of her friend, for whom the day had been as difficult as it had been for everyone else. She smiled at him sadly, sighing softly, before leaving. She began the walk home to find Axel, fully aware of how painful awkward the evening would end up being. But she had no choice. This was the life she had chosen when she'd picked pack over her own happiness. Her pride and desire to do right by pack had let her be coerced into this, and now she was trapped.

As Leanna walked down the street towards their house, she froze outside another house that had been empty for several years. Brown cardboard boxes and a few pieces of furniture were piled up outside. She watched Albrecht emerge from the property and lift a box up into his arms before carrying it back inside. Leanna's breaths came in small, shallow gasps and her heart thudded in her chest. Even though it wasn't a cold evening, she began to shiver as though it was the bitterest winter night. Then, suddenly, with no warning, she turned on her heel and marched away in the direction she had come, her footsteps fast and unrelenting.

Leanna reached her eldest brother's house and knocked sharply on the door. She heard the sound of someone approaching the door before it opened to reveal Felix.

"Lea?" Felix said, surprised.

"He's back, Felix," she said, stumbling over her words, her voice trembling. "He came back."

Seeing the look on her face, he wrapped his arms around his sister and pushed the door closed behind her. It was only then that the Alpha Female began to cry.

Axel's ride the night before hadn't really succeeded at much of anything. In fact, it only managed to anger him further as he dwelt on the idea of his brother having the audacity to move back here and tell him, the Alpha, that the pack was rightfully his. It was a load of shit and AJ certainly wasn't going to put up with it. When the pain in his leg finally became too unbearable, the Alpha had ridden the bike back to his home and parked it in the driveway without even bothering to notice if Leanna was there. In fact, he certainly wouldn't be prepared for her reaction come the next morning when she called him out for his shameless flirting the night before. Granted, he really didn't think she had heard him from the kitchen, but she was a werewolf and he knew she too had enhanced senses like he did. He did kick off his boots before falling asleep, but he basically neglected to undress at all and fell asleep, like he had the night before, in his full outfit.

It was a new day now and, at eleven in the morning, Axel had finally woken up and decided to hold a pack meeting like he'd said via text. It had taken the Alpha a while to get his bearings but, now, he stood in the clearing behind his own house with the rest of the pack. The only odd part being, of course, that they had all assumed their wolf forms. The young man slowly circled the group, doing a head count and quickly assumed everyone had arrived. If they hadn't, well, it was their fault and he'd certainly make sure they knew it. The brown wolf sat beside Sam and curled his tail over his paws neatly while his ears continued to swivel lightly, listening for sounds.

"I guess you've all heard the news by now that Albrecht's back," he began, the fur on his back bristling as he "spoke" telepathically to the other wolves, his voice filling their minds. Briefly, his teeth bared and he fidgeted in place uncomfortably. "The ditcher just thinks he can come back and be Alpha again." Now, his teeth bared again and he let out a bark. "Well, we'll show him he can't simply leave and expect to be treated the same...from now on, I don't want to catch any of you talking with him, you hear me? He may have been a member of our pack, but he's a traitor and a liar..." The Alpha paused, giving himself time to calm down before he "spoke" again.

"There are other things we need to focus on, though," he said, shaking himself quickly as if to shake off the past topic. "They found the body of a Hunter yesterday and you know the Hunters are going to be all over it, given that one of those fangers did it."

"On that note, since it doesn't concern us, stay out of it," said Axel nonchalantly. He's already decided the day before to not involve his pack. They shouldn't have to pay for what the vampires were doing anyway. They had already suffered enough with the Hunters moving into their safe-haven, hadn't they? "I don't care if they kill off all of the vampires, really. It would save us a lot of trouble and then, perhaps, they'd leave us alone. Until they, stay low and play it safe. Last thing we need is someone going into wolf form in public."

Finished, AJ stood and stretched, his tail swaying slowly back and forth before he sat down again. "Questions? Comments?" Sure, he was the Alpha, but this certainly wasn't a monarchy or a dictatorship. Besides, Leanna also had the right to speak, along with his Beta couple. Still, he'd most likely make his decisions law. They were in the best interest of everyone.

Albrecht had never been a sound sleeper in the years he was away from home. In fact, it shocked him when he woke up on the ratty, old sofa the same way he'd fallen asleep. A more superstitious or, perhaps, someone who read into such odd events would have said he was feeling better simply because he was home now and he felt safer. The thought actually caused him to laugh. Oh, he certainly didn't feel safer. The incident in the diner last night had proved to him that while he had missed the people of the town, the people of the town certainly didn't miss him as much. Well, actually, that wasn't completely true. Really, it was only Axel who didn't miss him at all.

Still mulling over these thoughts, Albrecht dressed in basketball shorts and a t-shirt to go out for a jog that morning. As his feet hit the pavement, causing a tap, tap to echo around him, he still thought about the pack. Perhaps he should say something? Maybe Axel would be willing to accept him back and then, if things went well enough, he might even be able to reclaim his position as Alpha. It was a wonderful plan in his mind and he was actually extremely eager to put it in motion. Still jogging, Albrecht turned his face a bit upward and drew in a breath, smelling the air for any trace of werewolf.

When it finally came to him, half a block down, it was faint but he was certain that was where they were, for there were so many scents mixed together. His pace quickened eagerly and he veered off of the sidewalk, on to the grass, and then into the woods just to follow them. It took what seemed like ages to find the group but, of course, it was mere minutes if anything. It seemed a bit odd to him at first to be watching his old pack mates in the clearing. And, it also seemed disheartening that he was no longer part of their pack telepathy. He knew not what they were saying, only that they must have been meeting about something. What they were discussing, though, he had not the slightest clue.

Crouching in the dense brush down wind from the wolves, Albrecht simply watched and waited. Thoughts bounced back and forth and he wondered if he should simply blow his cover now to speak with them, or wait for them to be in a less...threatening form.

Leanna hadn't gone home that evening. It wasn't a conscious decision she had made when she arrived at her brother's house, taken out of protest or to try and prove a point. She simply just hadn't wanted to face what waited for her at home, namely Axel. Her brother had made them dinner and they'd eaten on the sofa in front of the TV, talking, a little about Albrecht, but mainly about the unimportant and irrelevant things, until Leanna had eventually drifted off to sleep. Felix had put a blanket over her and allowed her to rest. Though Leanna hadn't expected to sleep at all that night, she'd slept right through until she was awoken at quarter to ten by the insistent buzzing of her cell on the coffee table beside her.

Leanna had picked up the message from Axel, announcing a pack meeting at eleven. It was obviously a group message, sent out to the entire pack. There was no personal message from him for her, even to check if she was okay. But, their relationship had always been like that. Of course he'd care if something happened to her, but any love or everyday affection felt forced, if even present. Despite this, though, Leanna had woken up much more clear-headed than she'd fallen asleep. Yesterday, seeing Al, after all these years, had shocked her, that was all. She didn't love him any more, she now insisted to herself. He had abandoned them, he had made his choice. She was with Axel now, she was Alpha Female. That was her place. She had committed herself to this and she could not let her pack down. She needed to stand by Axel's side, put their differences aside and present a united front against Albrecht's takeover, or whatever it was he thought he was back to do.

Leanna thanked her brother for the previous night and told him she would see him later at the pack meeting. Then, she returned home to change and get breakfast. Whilst there, she saw Axel and informed him she'd spent the night at Felix's, although offered no apology for it or explanation why. She decided not to broach the subject of the waitress then, but it was not forgotten and she did plan to mention it to him later.

Now she sat to Axel's left before the pack, with Sam to his right, and the meeting commenced. First he spoke about Albrecht, rehashing what they all knew about his return. He did exactly as Leanna had expected, making it very clear he was not going to back down from his position as Alpha and give in to Albrecht, but it was the second half of what he said that made Leanna's breath catch in her throat.

"From now on, I don't want to catch any of you talking with him, you hear me? He may have been a member of our pack, but he's a traitor and a liar..."

What? No! He couldn't! The protests instantly rushed through Leanna's mind, but she did not voice them telepathically to the others. She caught herself quickly, putting a halt to her thoughts. Of course he could, really, she should expect no less. A good leader would try to protect their pack from what they believed to be potential danger, and preserve the hierarchy within the pack. In his position, she would have done exactly the same. Hell, as Alpha Female, if he hadn't said it, she would've. That is, if it had been anyone else but Albrecht...

Axel moved on to give news about how the body of a hunter had been found yesterday, blaming it, quite rightly, she imagined, on the vampires. He gave them instructions to stay out of it, which is just as Leanna would have done. That was the thing about Axel, he was truly a good leader. He generally made well thought out decisions which were clearly for the good of the pack. She couldn't criticise him as a leader, she simply wished he had the same natural talent for caring for her and their relationship.

Axel then offered his decisions up to the floor to allow questions and comments. Leanna remained silent. In the most part, she agreed with his decisions. She told herself she agreed with all his decisions, that they were for the best. They didn't need Al around, he had betrayed them. Leanna sighed softly. This was the right choice...

The previous day had certainly taken a strange and unusual turn, not only had someone been murdered within town, a hunter no less but now Axel’s brother, Albrecht had returned. Caro would have been lying if she had said the older man’s return didn’t bring happiness to her, she was immensely glad to see him, thankful in fact. However, not every shared the same reaction, Leanna had been in a state of shock, which was understandable as Caro certainly did not think her friend had expected ever to see him again. And honestly neither had she, when Albrecht left all those years ago she had resounded herself to the fact that she would never see him again, he wanted a ‘normal’ life or so to speak, but sometimes ‘normal’ wasn’t always what you expected; she had told him as much just before he left, although she supposed he had to make the connection himself.

Axel, as expected, had not reacted well at all and even now Caro grimaced at the memory, the words said in haste and anger would have usually been regretted the next day- although this probably wasn’t the case with Axel and Al. She did pity their alpha with the situation and she couldn’t help but feel a little anger at Al for his words, did he really think he could disappear for all this time just to reappear one day and resume his place. Had he really thought nothing changed? That he would still be alpha? Of course he had, he was a Wolff and they were just about as stubborn as they came.

Over the course of the night Caroline had done her best to forget what had transpired within the diner. She and Nettie had enjoyed a quiet night in, a lovely meal of steak and vegetables followed by a slice of Nettie’s apple pie for dessert, they had then watched few programmes on the TV and just chilled. Like usual their conversations were light and airy, they had spoken about a lot of things and nothing at all, they had spoken of Sam and where their relationship was going and Caro had shed a tear over it once again. Despite this, it had been a wonderful evening, one she would not forget in a hurry.

Caroline had been awake for a few hours, tending to some jobs at her bar when she received a group message from Axel ordering a group meeting. Already she knew the course of topic it would be about the women which was murdered and Albrecht, it was predictable, but still much needed. By rumours she had heard from patrons, the generally consensus, by those who knew, was that this knew killing was done by a vampire. The woman had her blood mass drained, who else could have been the culprit? After quickly phoning Nettie, telling her to stay put, Caroline had hurried over to Axel and Leanna’s home.

ImageIn her wolf form , Caro sat within the circle, her ears pointed to constant attention as she listened to what Axel had to say. "Well, we'll show him he can't simply leave and expect to be treated the same...from now on, I don't want to catch any of you talking with him, you hear me? He may have been a member of our pack, but he's a traitor and a liar..." He spoke so easily that Caro dipped her head slightly, the sadness was still present in her eyes even in wolf form. She couldn’t help but feel that his words were ones made out of haste and defiance. I was clear that despite them being brothers, Axel saw Albrecht as a threat and a dangerous one at that.

Caroline continued to listen as Axel pressed onto matter about the dead hunter, although she agreed with some about what he was saying, something did not sit right with her. Everything had been peaceful up until yesterday, the vampires had not stepped out of line since the event a few years ago, so why now? Why that woman? After she thought about it in depth, the answer became clear, it wasn’t one who had inhabited the town. It wasn’t plausible for them to do so, they had come to Bellingstone for a safe place to stay, a home, why would they jeopardize that now? No, it must have been someone knew. That thought led her onto another event which had transpired in her bar the very same day and led her to a new suspicion, perhaps that arrogant asshole had something to do with it? He was certainly someone new to the town, it was plausible.

Releasing a mental sigh, Caro suppressed the information for the time being, Axel wouldn’t do anything with it, he’d just tell her to stay out. Perhaps he was right, perhaps she should just leave it to the hunters to handle, but what if it happened again and she could have stopped it? There was no way she could live with herself if that happened.

As Axel broached the end of his speech he asked if anyone had any questions or comments and Caroline found herself biting her tongue on the whole Albrecht affair, she hated the fact that Axel told them to stay away, that it was forbidden to speak to him. She honestly did not believe she could keep that promise, shaking her head, she finally “spoke” up. “Axel, you know I am loyal to you as alpha, it is rightfully your position, not his. B-But I cannot just ignore him like that, he’s my friend too and you can’t ask me to do that.”

The previous night hadn't gone exactly as planned. Walking in and seeing Albrecht had been somewhat of a pleasant surprise, not having seen the Wolff brother since he had abandoned Bellingstone all together. However, the happy reunion had quickly turned sour. Sam was able to admit he had been selfish. He hadn't been thinking of the pack or his Alpha's reaction when he had first seen Albrecht. Only excitement at a long lost friend. When all of the lights had mysteriously exploded - he still hadn't figured that one out - he had lunged for Caro, determined to shelter her from the glass. Axel had turned to make sure everyone was okay, when his eyes fixed on the elder Wolff brother. Then the shit hit the fan.

Sam basically sat back and watched with wide eyes. It wasn't his place to interfere in Axel's family business. Although, he was extremely surprised to find out that Albrecht wasn't even aware of his own father's demise, and practically expected to be handed the position of Alpha now that he was back. He had given up this life and his position the day he walked out on Bellingstone. Thankfully, the night ended without any violence, Axel walking out of the diner and instructing Sam to clean up. After Axel's departure, he had ensured everyone who hadn't already left was unharmed and escorted them out. The pack dispersed, not many words exchanged. Everyone seemed to be in shock, too lost in their own thoughts to voice anything out loud. He had been especially sad to see Caro leave, especially because they had been planning to spend the night together. However, with the events of the night, he was sure it was far from her mind.

He had spent a few hours cleaning up all the broken glass off the floor, and replacing all the bulbs in the ceiling. It was tiring work, since he had woken up before dawn for the early shift, but no one else was going to do it. The diner still had to open for business tomorrow. After the diner was finally clean, he locked the doors and headed home, unaware of the time and too exhausted to contemplate everything that had happened that night. Before lying down in bed, he picked up the phone to text Caro, letting her know that he was thinking of her and loved her. As soon as he set the phone down, his eyes shut and he promptly passed out.

His eyes opened, greeted by blinding light, and he instantly shut them once more. He rolled over to check the time, realizing it was a few minutes after ten o'clock. He groaned, wishing he could shut his eyes and fall back to sleep. But he had noticed the voicemail icon on his phone, and had a pretty good idea what it was about. Upon listening, he learned the pack would have a meeting in less than an hour. He rushed to get ready and make it to Axel's in time.

ImageAt eleven, the entire pack had gathered in the clearing behind Axel's house, all in wolf form. Sam had taken his place on Axel's right hand side, with Leanna on his left. There was a long silence, and Sam's ears perked up. He could hear the wind rustling through the trees as everyone waited for Axel to 'speak' to them. His blue eyes found Caro, who was across from him, and he could read the sadness in her eyes. It pained him to see that, and he wished he could trot over to her and nuzzle her, just for comfort. Axel's words broke his train of thought. "I guess you've all heard the news by now that Albrecht's back. The ditcher just thinks he can come back and be Alpha again." Axel's teeth bared, and he let out a bark.

Sam stayed silent, eyes slowly scanning the rest of the pack, trying to read their reactions to his Alpha's words. "Well, we'll show him he can't simply leave and expect to be treated the same...from now on, I don't want to catch any of you talking with him, you hear me? He may have been a member of our pack, but he's a traitor and a liar..." The words were harsh, especially about family, but Sam stayed silent. He knew of Axel's pains regarding Albrecht, and how betrayed he had felt when the elder Wolff brother had abandoned his entire life. Axel had been thrust into a position he hadn't been prepared for, all because Albrecht had wanted to run away. He could understand, yet at the same time, family was family.

Axel spoke of the dead hunter, warning them of a vampire's involvement. It was truly alarming, yet he warned them to all stay out of it. It was the best decision for the pack as of now, since they didn't know how how many vampires were involved, and which Hunters were going to make it their mission to get back at the vampires. Hopefully it would mean the Wolff pack could stay out of it all together. Axel paused, asking for questions or comments. As Caro's voice rang through his mind, his blue eyes found hers. “Axel, you know I am loyal to you as alpha, it is rightfully your position, not his. B-But I cannot just ignore him like that, he’s my friend too and you can’t ask me to do that.” Sam shifted uncomfortably, wishing she would have kept that thought to herself. His eyes flicked to Axel, wondering what the Alpha's response would be. Sam spoke before Axel could.

He stood on all fours, pacing back and forth in front of the group on his paws. "I'm wondering if it would really be smart to completely shun him. Can we really turn down another wolf at a time like this? The Hunters could use this incident as an excuse to come after us as well. The more numbers we have, the safer we are." He paused, trying to read some of his pack mates, but had no idea what they thought of his words. He continued on anyway. "I'm not saying we have to trust him altogether, but we shouldn't turn him away either." Done speaking, he took his place back at Axel's right side, and sat on his haunches, waiting to see what the others would say.

Leanna noticed Caroline out of the corner of her eye. Even in wolf form, Lea could see the an air of hesitation in her friend at what Axel had sad, and Leanna simply knew her apprehension wasn't over the hunter issue... Then Leanna saw Caro shake her head, as she had almost known the Beta Female would. Leanna braced herself for what she knew was coming.

“Axel," Caroline 'said', "You know I am loyal to you as alpha, it is rightfully your position, not his. B-But I cannot just ignore him like that, he’s my friend too and you can’t ask me to do that.”

All of Leanna's muscles tightened and she could feel the soft fur on her neck bristling. In an instant, Leanna felt any sympathy or lingering feelings of love she had for Albrecht rise suddenly to the forefront of her mind, like a desperate ache. Her eyes widened slightly as she caught herself, forcing the thoughts back. No! He clearly didn't care for her in the way she still did for him, or he never would have left. She couldn't allow herself any leniency where Al was concerned. This was her pack. She was Alpha Female, and more importantly, she was the Alpha Female to Axel's Alpha Male. She felt a rush of anger. Albrecht wasn't coming near her or the pack. He was banished. Leanna was going to stand with Axel. How could Caro still call that man a friend after all he'd done to her, to the pack? How could she think such a thing?

Suddenly, Sam stood onto all fours and began walking back and forth before the group. Leanna watched him with a look of surprise. Caroline's objection she had half expected, but she had not thought Sam would disagree with his Alpha. Lea glanced at Axel for a moment, wondering quite how he'd respond. She did not expect him to give in.

"I'm wondering if it would really be smart to completely shun him. Can we really turn down another wolf at a time like this? The Hunters could use this incident as an excuse to come after us as well. The more numbers we have, the safer we are. I'm not saying we have to trust him altogether, but we shouldn't turn him away either."

In an instant Leanna was on her four paws before Sam and Caroline. She snarled slightly, not at them but in anger, before 'voicing' her thoughts. "No!" she bit back. "Having Albrecht isn't an advantage, it's a weakness. He's a weakness. He's disloyal and unreliable!" she 'said' viciously, feeling her anger getting the better of her.

Leanna, at most times, was fairly calm with a good temper. She picked her battles carefully and knew when to let things go. But, for her, Albrecht was the point at which her temper snapped. Even after all these years, she wasn't over what had happened with him, the way he'd left her, and seeing him yesterday had brought all that to the surface, as fresh and raw as though the years that had passed had just been days.

Leanna turned her harsh gaze to Caroline to focus on the snowy white wolf. "How can you still regard him as a friend when he left the pack behind without a second thought for me or you or any of those he'd cared for?" Leanna suddenly stopped, wondering if she'd said too much, if it was brutally obvious to all watching how much she still cared. She took a breath. "Axel is our Alpha... He know's what's best for the pack. It's his decision," she 'said' firmly, returning to the less emotionally involved topic of the pack.

[center]There was an obvious pause between Axel's decree and when the rest of the pack began to chime in. Some of the lower ranked wolves were mumbling to each other, ears pulled back, eyes darting around. The alpha shuffled his paws subtly in a gesture that hopefully looked normal, but certainly stood out. As Alpha, he knew his word was close to law, basically. Yet, there were constant stories of corrupt Alpha Males who had abused their power and were overthrown and replaced. He was trying to do what he thought was best, but he certainly didn't want to be killed in the process.

To his surprise, Leanna stayed silent. She'd been that way all day, it seemed, for when she returned to the cabin in the morning, she only told him where she had been and nothing more. Was she angry? He could basically sense the emotion radiating from her and he knew she was thinking deeply about something. What is was, though, he had no idea. By the time the comments and rebuking had begun, Axel had almost thought they wouldn't even occur.

“Axel, you know I am loyal to you as alpha, it is rightfully your position, not his. B-But I cannot just ignore him like that, he’s my friend too and you can’t ask me to do that.” Axel's ears, which had been pulled back, stood up suddenly at the sound of Caro 'speaking'. Quickly, though, they pulled back in an angry way, his tongue flicking out slightly as his upper lip pulled upward slightly. It did not end there, though, for Sam soon stood up and paced before the group of wolves.

"I'm wondering if it would really be smart to completely shun him. Can we really turn down another wolf at a time like this? The Hunters could use this incident as an excuse to come after us as well. The more numbers we have, the safer we are. I'm not saying we have to trust him altogether, but we shouldn't turn him away either." His muzzle opened for him to speak, but he was promptly cut off by Leanna.

"Having Albrecht isn't an advantage, it's a weakness. He's a weakness. He's disloyal and unreliable! How can you still regard him as a friend when he left the pack behind without a second thought for me or you or any of those he'd cared for? Axel is our Alpha... He know's what's best for the pack. It's his decision." By the time she'd finished speaking, the Alpha's ears had stood up again in shock, this time. He had heard Leanna speak up before during meetings, but this was certainly a rare occurrence for her. In fact, he'd thought she had missed Albrecht the most out of all of them. Perhaps he was wrong? Obviously, from the way she spoke, she did not. It can as a relief, in fact, for it had certainly concerned him that she would have left him to be with her child hood sweetheart, his brother.

Image
Gingerly, Axel swept his tail behind himself and brushed it against her back in a way that could be taken friendly or affectionately. Either way, he hoped the gesture wasn't frightening or weird. Slowly, he stood and pulled his ears back against his skull, trying to show he meant business.

"I do not believe Leanna could have explained it better," he praised, his tail lifting off of Leanna's back to raise high in the air as an expression of dominance. His teeth pulled back again, but only for a moment before he continued. "There's nothing beneficial to us letting a traitor in. You saw him yesterday, you heard him say he wanted the position of Alpha, didn't you?" By now, he had strode away from his position and was eyeing Sam and Caro, eyes narrowed slightly at the Beta Male and the Delta Female.

"A true wolf would stay with his pack...not run away like the coward Albrecht is," he continued, his voice basically a snarl now. "He shouldn't even be able to call himself a member of the Wolff family...he's a disgrace." His tail flicked back and forth sharply, showing his agitation. As much as he wanted to get over this petty feud and welcome back his brother, he simply couldn't. He sighed mentally and it telepathically traveled to the other wolves.

He hadn't even been awake very long and he was already exhausted and angry. Besides, he had the lighting situation in his diner to work on. "Pack dismissed..." he muttered telepathically, pacing in slow circles. "Steer clear of the Hunters and don't interact with Albrecht." With that, he turned and hurried off into the brush, making his way back home where he would change into clothing before making his way out to the diner. One there, he sent a text to Cat, calling her in to help out with the clean-up.

The moment Sam’s eyes met hers, Caro knew she should have kept her thoughts to herself and it was obvious by his sudden uncomfortable shift that he felt the same way. Although to his credit, Sam did support her, whether or not it was from the love they shared or whether he was simply saying what he felt, Caroline was truly grateful for his support. "I'm wondering if it would really be smart to completely shun him. Can we really turn down another wolf at a time like this? The Hunters could use this incident as an excuse to come after us as well. The more numbers we have, the safer we are
I'm not saying we have to trust him altogether, but we shouldn't turn him away either." Caro saw the truth in his words, but she doubted Leanna or Axel would do so, both of them were too stubborn for their own good at times, would one of them have to die before they realised that there was safety in numbers?

A hunter was killed yesterday, not a civilian, not a wolf, a hunter and Caro was wise enough to realise the severity of this. They were essentially a pack in their own way, they stuck together, looked out for one another, they were a family and they would go after the culprit and what was to say they didn’t get caught in the cross fire? Hunters were extremely narrow-minded and now with this murder, Caro feared that for them everything would become black and white, if they were human they lived, if they were supernatural they died, no grey area. It was honestly quite a worrying thought for the blonde, she did not want a war, revenge only ever lead to more revenge and sooner rather than later all that was left would be a pile of dead bodies and no redemption. Caroline did not want to die, she had never done anything wrong and yet by something that she could not control she would be deemed a monster, it simply wasn’t fair, but then again nothing in life seemed to be fair.

Perhaps it would be easier to take a leaf out of Albrecht’s book and flee whilst she still could, but one look at Sam and her family made that will disappear, this is where she belonged and nothing could ever change that fact. Suddenly the sound of Leanna’s ‘voice’ hit her like a sheet of ice, it clear from her tone and her tensed form that her anger was nearly over whelming. Caroline had never seen her friend in such a way before, her words were laced with venom and she could have sworn that she would have pounced on her at any moment. "How can you still regard him as a friend when he left the pack behind without a second thought for me or you or any of those he'd cared for, Axel is our Alpha... He knows what's best for the pack. It's his decision."

If she would have been in her human form Caroline would have frowned, however she simply lowered her head; it was not out of an act of regret, she had meant every word she said, but rather one to simply defuse the situation. She felt for Leanna, truly she did, she could remember clearly the heartbreak her friend had experience when Axel just up and left, Caro had been angry herself at first. But her anger only ever lasted so long and she had genuinely missed him, however Leanna was right, Axel was their alpha and she must obey his command.

Axel added fuel to the fire and remained strong in his stance against his own brother, throwing in words such as disgust and traitor, but Caro couldn’t help but wonder how deep his hatred actually went, whether it truly was hatred or whether it merely only masked pain felt by his brothers absence. Whatever the reason he seemed set in his ways and Caroline certainly wasn’t in the mood for an argument that morning. As he dismissed them, she stood quickly and scampered off into the forest, wanting to be alone for a little while.

She ran home, through the woods to avoid being seen by the population of Bellingstone and once she reached the seclusion of her back yard, she transformed back into her human form and hurried inside her home. After resting for a little while, transformations always seemed to take its toll on her, Caro changed into a new outfit and grabbed her keys.

Once in her car, she pulled out her phone and sent a quick text to Sam which read, ‘Can I come and see you in a few hours? I missed you last night.’ It was short but to the point, she had missed him last night, they had meant to spend the night together but of course with everything which had happened their priorities had changed and once again the were forced to push their own plans to one side. Caro started the engine of her car, and quickly pulled out of her garage; the drive to the sheriff’s office wasn’t a particularly long one, but the drive helped clear her mind a little.

ImagePulling into the car park, she cut her engine but remained in her seat as she contemplated what she actually doing. She was going against Axels direct orders to not go near hunters, but this piece of information had been tormenting her all night and she could not keep her suspicions to her herself for much longer. With that in mind, Caroline exited the car and walked straight into the small station, stopping at the reception desk, “Hi, I was wondering if I could talk to Sheriff Harding?”

Typically, Sam had a way with words, and could get others to see his perspective. Today was not that day. Immediately after he ceased his speech, Leanna jumped up on all fours and growled at him and Caro. His ears flattened, and his eyes narrowed towards the female. Leanna was the Alpha female, and technically had more power in the pack than Sam did as beta. However, Axel had always listened to Sam's words and took them to heart. Almost always more so than Leanna, anyway. He was only attempting to love her, and didn't truly. Although after she went on her little tirade, Axel seemed positively pleased with her. Sam sat down on his haunches, anger coursing through him.

"Axel is our Alpha... He know's what's best for the pack. It's his decision," she said, ending her rant. Sam's eyes slowly panned over to Axel's, waiting for the reaction of his alpha. "I do not believe Leanna could have explained it better," Axel finally spoke, and Sam averted his gaze. He knew this was not going to end well for both himself and Caro. He could have possibly just lost most of the trust that Axel had placed in him. All because he was looking out for the good of the pack, not focusing on a past vendetta that Axel had.

Sam's eyes found Axel's once more as the Alpha spoke more. "There's nothing beneficial to us letting a traitor in. You saw him yesterday, you heard him say he wanted the position of Alpha, didn't you?" Sam thought back to the previous night. Sure, Albrecht had come back expecting things to be the same as they had been when he left. But no one had attempted to explain anything to him. Axel just blew up in his face and that was it. Albrecht had been in this pack once, he knew how things worked. The man would have to understand, if only someone cared to talk to him. Sam didn't believe that Albrecht was that dull of a man.

"A true wolf would stay with his pack...not run away like the coward Albrecht is," the alpha continued, Sam watching him carefully. The hate was audible in his voice, Axel obviously not attempting to mask it. "He shouldn't even be able to call himself a member of the Wolff family...he's a disgrace." Sam could feel Axel's anger and rage, and also his exhaustion. He sighed, the sound carrying to all the wolves of the pack. Axel was finished with this conversation, and Sam knew it. "Pack dismissed... the alpha said, and the wolves began to disperse. He gave them all one last command. "Steer clear of the Hunters and don't interact with Albrecht." And with that, he was gone. And so were the rest of them. Sam lingered for a moment before taking off himself.

He ran home before changing back into a human. Just as he got inside, his phone buzzed. He grabbed it off the table (after all what wolf needed a cell phone), and opened the message. ‘Can I come and see you in a few hours? I missed you last night.’ it read, and Sam smiled. She was the one thing that would make him feel better. He quickly typed back to her. 'Of course. Just let me know when and I'll be there in a jiffy.' He hit send, then winced as he read it once more. Jiffy? Where the hell had that come from? Sighing, he set the phone down and began to pace back and forth. He really had no plans, and honestly wasn't sure what to do with himself.

ImageAfter an hour, he couldn't stand it anymore. He walked back outside and headed for the diner. The place was a wreck after last night, and it needed to be cleaned. He was fairly confident that Axel was going to be so busy being pissed that he wouldn't show up to the diner. Not yet. So he was more than surprised when he opened the door and found both him and Cat standing inside. He absentmindedly wondered if Leanna knew he was here with Cat. His boots crunched as the shards of glass shattered even more under his weight. "Well shit," he whispered to himself, bringing a hand up to rub his hair, lost for words. "I figured I'd come help clean up the diner... he said stupidly, knowing they probably had guessed that's why he was there. Without another word he grabbed a broom and began sweeping. He didn't want to piss of Axel any more than he already had. He kept his mouth shut as he swept, waiting for Axel to make the first move.

Once he'd tossed the shards into the waste bin, Axel turned and leaned up against the counter, broom in one hand and dust pan in the other. Cat, after her quick response, had looked away from him, which only managed to confuse him and evoke a raise of an eyebrow from him. Why wasn't she looking at him? Had he done something to upset her yesterday? When she smiled, though, he seemed to relax slightly and returned the smile in a much broader fashion.

"I'm glad to hear that," he replied."Especially since you've only been working here, what, a day? Not even?" He chuckled softly and then turned his attention to the electrician who seemed to have forgotten he was being paid to assess the situation, not stare at Axel's Italian employee. The werewolf's eyes narrowed subtly and a low, almost inaudible grumble sounded in the back of his throat. "Hey, buddy, you done here? I'm paying you only to look at the lighting." The electrician blinked, surprised that his "subtle" staring had been noticed.

"Whatever," he replied, slowly climbing off of the ladder to fold it up. "I was going to look at the transformer box anyway." With a roll of his eyes and a glance at Cat, the man left. Axel had almost zoned out completely, but the mention of yesterday caused him to flinch subtly and turn quickly as if shocked.

"W-what?" he asked at first, until he'd realized what she asked. "Oh, him?" His brow furrowed, his jaw clenched. How was he to explain this to her without compromising himself and his identity? Instead, he chose silence...for now.

"I mean, I just wanted to know in case we aren't supposed to let him in the diner or something. Black list. I'll put the poliziotti on speed dial if I have to..." He gave a brief smile and laugh. Her plan had worked and he couldn't help but tell her who the man was.

"Nah, he's...well, he's my brother, actually," he admitted, slowly rubbing at the back of his neck in a worried fashion. "He hasn't been here for, well, years...he skipped town and we thought he left for good. Left our family high and dry." His jaw clenched again as he averted his gaze from hers, trying not to show the way his eyes turned slightly animalistic or how his canines grew briefly and then reverted to their usual size. He couldn't risk her finding out about his werewolfism. What kind of Alpha let a human know about his pack? In the meantime, though, he couldn't help but notice the way she peered up at him in an irresistible manner that might have caused him to kiss her or...more...had he not had some self control still. Leanna never looked at him like that, and they'd known each other for ages. On that note, would Leanna leave him? If she did, what then? Would she go to Albrecht? Oh God, so many questions, so few answers.

When her expression hardened, he was both surprised and taken aback. Had he done something, said something to make her suddenly upset or...whatever? At first, he opened his mouth to speak. But, the sound of the door opening caused him to stop suddenly with his mouth opened in a comedic-looking manner as he glanced at Sam.

"Well shit," said the Beta, causing Axel the raise an eyebrow as he got a hold of himself and turned back toward the man.

"What are you doing here?" he asked, trying not to sound gruff. Of course, he knew what

"I figured I'd come help clean up the diner..." Axel gave a slow nod in response, already sensing the tension that was forming in the room. He wondered what Sam had been thinking when he walked in, for he certainly looked as if he'd been distracted by something. For a while, silence ensued as Axel picked up his broom and swept again. After a while though, he stopped suddenly and turned to face Sam, lips pursed subtly. "So, what's up? You're more quiet than usual..." Other than that, he was extremely silent, not knowing what else to say in Cat's presence.

ImageSam swept in a robotic fashion, his mind preoccupied, venturing off on tons of different thoughts. He wondered what exactly Axel was doing here with Cat, of all people. He had suspected something the previous day, watching the two of them flirt in front of Leanna. His Alpha had been trying and trying forever with Leanna, only to throw it away in one day with a complete stranger? But he couldn't say anything to Axel, because that would only be hypocritical. After all, Sam himself wasn't doing his duty as the beta male. Yet, his actions were out of love, but were Axel's? He highly doubted it. And, after the pack meeting, he certainly couldn't say anything else to piss Axel off. Sam had already spoken out against him, not backed him up. He couldn't do it again.

Axel was his best friend, and regardless of Sam's moral views of Axel's actions, he had to respect them. That was his his role as beta. Sometimes, for the pack, he had to put his personal views aside. That was just the way it was for a wolf. "So, what's up? You're more quiet than usual..." Axel's voice brought Sam out of his own mind, back to the present. "What? Oh..." He cleared his throat, attempting to search for an answer. "Nothing's up. Just thinking." he said simply. His eyes darted over to Cat, who was most likely confused as hell. But what could he say? The answer was nothing, because Cat didn't know that the pair were werewolves. He couldn't be honest with Axel in front of her. He just had to be quiet.

Absentmindedly, he pulled his phone out of his pocket, checking for a message from Caroline. Yet his phone had no new messages, and and he slipped it back in his pocket. She never really took very long to respond, probably because texting was really the only way they could constantly communicate. Where the hell was she? She hadn't been very specific in her message, just saying that she wanted to see him in a few hours. He couldn't really imagine what she would be doing alone, that he couldn't know about. If she had just been at the bar, he could have stopped by. And if she were at home, he could have gone there as well. No, she was up to something, and he had a bad feeling about it. And he wasn't there to protect her. If she got hurt, or even worse, he would never forgive himself.

With his phone back in his pocket, he began sweeping once more. Although, his mind was extremely focused on the phone in his pocket, waiting for it to vibrate. To hear anything from her. He barely focused on the other two people in the room. Axel was smart enough, he would guess something was up. His mind was now far away from worrying about the pack meeting earlier, or even pissing Axel off. There were far more pressing matters in his point of view. Anyone would think he was overreacting, but he just knew something was wrong. As a wolf, he had a sixth sense about trouble. They all did. It was animal instinct. And that impending doom feeling was growing heavier and heavier in his chest.

ImageSam threw the broom aside, listening to the smack as it hit the wall. He walked right past Axel and Cat, not saying a word. He walked through the back of the diner, and straight through the back door and outside, breathing in the cool air, trying to calm his head. But he couldn't get past that nagging feeling in the back of his mind. It was there, pushing him and telling him something was wrong. He pulled his phone out and dialed Caroline's number, placing the phone up to his ear. "Come on... pick up the phone..." he whispered to himself, listening to the ringing repeat over and over. Eventually, it went to voicemail, and he felt the urge to throw the phone as far as he could. After the beep, he spoke quickly. "Where are you? Call me back." He ended the call and jammed it back in his pocket.

Caroline ran a hand down her weary face as her eyes raked over the small screen before her, she felt like she had been here for hours, watching the images flash across her screen in a tedious haze. Unsure which tape the image would be on, Caro had four possible candidates stacked above the monitor, all unmarked and all just as boring as the previous and with each one she cursed herself further for not taking the time to mark them. Resting her head in her hand, Caroline sipped on her steaming cup of coffee before releasing a heavy sigh, her eyes briefly leaving the screen before she noticed herself walking into the bar into the clothes she wore yesterday. “This is it
” Caro murmured to herself as she became more alert, fast forwarding, she stopped suddenly as the vampires face flashed across her screen.

ImagePausing the tape, Caroline stared into the eyes of a monster and even looking at him this way, virtually, it made her skin crawl. She knew from the moment he walked into his bar that any warmth within had left the creature; creature, it was a term Caro seldom used, mainly because she had been on the receiving end of them in the past, hell, not half an hour ago she was being called a mutt by Sebastian and that still hurt. But this vampire was a creature, there was no humanity left in his soul, that much was certain. Hearing her phone ring, Caro looked around for her bag, spotting it behind the bar she moved from her seat and walked out of the small office towards her bag. Digging for a moment she pulled out her cell to see a missed call from Sam, quickly listening to his voicemail, her heart swelled at hearing his frantic voice, although the level of concern did worry her slightly and made her feel guilty for causing it. Sorry, just a little busy at the moment, call you back in ten. Love you! Caroline text back before shoving the phone into her back pocket and returned to her office, sitting down she turned her attention to the screen and proceeded to print of the picture, when a voice from behind the doorway startled her.

"I hadn't known the bitch had such bite, you really are a quick clever girl aren't you?" Caroline’s head whipped towards the doorway, her eyes widening in surprise mixing with shock as the creature from her screen, manifested before her. “How did you realize that it had been I that killed that Russian hunter? Truly a very observant deduction, you have my respect...but that will not save you I'm afraid."

Caroline rose quickly from the chair, her heart beat quickening within her chest as he cornered her in the small office, there was Imageonly one exit and the vampire was currently blocking it. “It wasn’t really difficult, a new vampire waltz into town and the first death occurs in months
” Her voice remains steady, not a quiver in sight, however despite her façade she knew exactly how dangerous this situation was. Despite being beta in training, Caroline was no fighter, she knew that, everyone knew that, don’t get her wrong she could defend her just perfectly, however up against an ancient vampire, she stood no chance. She needed back up, she needed Sam. Slowly, she reached into her back pocket and blindly dialled Sam’s cell, hoping, no, praying he would answer. “If you hurt me, you will have a pack on your tail and they will not stop until they find you.”
