"There is a reason the worst storms are named after women."
{ The Fire | Tonight Alive}

Appearance:
Lex is somehow both intimidating and non-threatening, depending on how she wants to come across. At 5'6", neither impression is affected by her height. Day-to-day, she's rather unthreatening. Her dark brown hair is either pulled into a ponytail or hidden under a beanie, and she has to wear glasses in most of her lectures. Her style can only be described as hipster- she lives in checked shirts, skinny jeans, combat boots, and beanies. While this doesn't disguise her curvy build, it also doesn't flaunt it. She does wear makeup day-to-day, but it's usually subtle and unremarkable. Most make the mistake of overlooking her- until they hear of her results or dare to get into a debate with her.

However, when Lex wants to look intimidating, she can. She has yet to find a pair of heels she can't walk in, and isn't afraid to reach for them. Rather than disguise her femininity, she plays it up. She flaunts her figure, she curls her hair, and she breaks out her red lipstick. She dresses of success- if she wants to win a guy, it's close-fitting dresses. If she wants to win a debate, it's a tailored suit. She knows all of her physical strengths and isn't afraid to flaunt them.

Thoughts On Greek Life:
When Lex entered Fulton, she was a loud-mouthed teenager with a superiority complex. She'd originally sneered at sororities. However, on joining Theta Chi, that quickly changed. She learned the value of girls supporting girls, and now she's closer with some of her sorority sisters than her actual biological sister. She'd recommend it in a heartbeat to any freshman. She adores the events, the community aspect, and the people she shares her sisterhood with.

Ambitions:
It's not hard to guess Lex's ambitions by looking at her major and minor. She wants to be a human rights lawyer. She specifically wants to help girls in developing countries and defend their right to education. She'd be willing to dedicate her life to that cause.

" You think people won’t notice you? You should shine brighter. You should get more special."

X

Quirks//Habits//Oddities:
She feels naked unless she's wearing mascara and lipstick, even on her low-maintenance days. She always taps her pen or pencil against her lips when she's thinking. She almost always has a bottle of water and gum on her person. She always, always wears matching socks.

Good Personality Traits:
Loyal || Supportive || Hardworking || Loving || Determined

Bad personality traits:
Stubborn || Hot-headed || Vicious || Manipulative || Confrontational

Personality:
At first, one would not guess Theta to be Lex's sorority. Lex isn't shy in the slightest- in fact, she feels most confident when speaking in front of a crowd. She's certainly not afraid to speak her mind. She doesn't shy away from confrontation or trouble. If anything, she embraces it with open arms. She was captain of the debating team in both her junior and senior years of high school, and with good reason. She's intelligent, well-spoken, and well able to formulate an opinion. She doesn't believe in making herself smaller to fit the mold or to make other people happy. If she doesn't know you, but you stand in the way of her success, then she'll tear you down to get what she wants. If she knows you and doesn't like you, hiding is probably the best option. If she likes you... Well, you're safe, but that's not to say she won't figure out how to get her way. She's manipulative, willing to bend people to her will. Her temper is hot, and she'll only play clean if you do. She'll do something just because someone told her she couldn't, purely just to spite them.

However, there's no denying that she does show some of the key traits of a Theta, and outside of a debate or any situation that could be considered competitive, she's one of the sweetest people you could hope to meet. She doesn't believe in tearing other girls down out of jealousy or anything similar, and much prefers to help out her fellow sisters. If Lex is your friend, then you've got a friend for life- or at least until you seriously mess up. With her brains, she could coast along without too much work- but that's not her way. She works hard, but she plays hard as well. She's incredible fun to have on a night out, but knows exactly when to stop. She's always willing to help out someone in need, whether it's with a ride somewhere or help with assignments. She's passionate, and when she gets excited about something, it's verging on infectious. When she loves, she loves deeply. When she's your friend, she's one of the best friends you could hope for. She's the type of person to take random selfies and photos with her best friends, just so she has mementos of her college years and of her college friends.

Greatest joys in life:
  • Winning a debate
  • FrappΓ©s
  • Red lipstick
  • Killer heels
  • Succeeding
  • Proving people wrong

Greatest fears:
More than anything, Lex fears being mundane. She fears being stuck in some office somewhere, unable to help anyone or do anything she loves.
Deep water also frightens her, even though she can swim.

Life philosophy:
"A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles." -Christopher Reeve

"Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world."
{ Chandelier | Sia}

History:

Lex has heard story after story about how her friends' parents were high school sweethearts, prom king and queen, and then got married as soon as they graduated college. She, however, much prefers the story of how her parents met. They were opposite sides from the country, yet happened to go to the same college. They shared no classes. Their first interaction was when Victoria Sawyer, Lex's mom, had to drag two guys off of Thomas Pearson and then patch him up after a protest had turned nasty. Being a pre-med student, Thomas had talked her through the whole thing, while Victoria, a business student, had to confront her dislike of needles and blood. That conversation was the beginnings of a lifelong friendship that just so happened to develop into a romantic relationship.

Both Thomas and Victoria were activists, and while they stopped attending protests when they graduated and became successful adults, both still stuck to the causes they were passionate about. Both donated to a number of charities once they were earning enough to do so without endangering their own needs, and both fundraised for the same charities at a number of points in their respective careers.

Lex's older sister, Maggie, was born when Thomas was 31 and Victoria 29. They instantly fell in love with her, and instead of hiring nannies or other people to look after her, they both rearranged their schedules to allow one or the other of them to look after her. The same happened when Lex was born. Letting other people look after their kids was never an option for the Pearsons.

With two activists as parents, it was no surprise that Lex developed an interest in human rights. Maggie took after her father and went on to become a doctor, but Lex knew that she didn't want to be a doctor. Maggie was so good with people- she was kind, gentle, and patient, if a little bit of a pushover. Lex, while sharing some of her sister's good traits, was the opposite. A master at debating, somebody jokingly suggested law to her. However, that was an idea that took root in her mind. By her sophomore year, her mind was made up.

With a leading surgeon as a father and a highly successful businesswoman as a mother, money was never an issue for Lex. However, she still received a number of scholarship offers, and considered a great many of them. However, she eventually decided on Fulton, one of the few colleges that hadn't actually offered her an academic scholarship. The school's facilities were too great to ignore, and the name itself would get her places. The fact that she could minor in human rights just sealed the deal.

The only reason she considered rushing for Theta at first was to get access to their library. She had no huge interest in Greek life- however, on meeting and hanging out with the Theta girls, she realised that it wasn't what she'd been lead to expect. The girls were so wonderful and friendly, and she instantly wanted to surround herself with those kinds of girls. So she rushed for Theta and hasn't looked back since.

On looking at Lex, one would guess that she was sober. Her stride was rock-solid, even in her four-inch heels. Her balance was perfect, and her laughter wasn't out of the ordinary, especially when one considered her tendency to get caffeine rushes. But on actually talking to her, the alcohol in her system started to reveal itself. She was flirting with almost everyone on legs, and almost everything gave her a set of the giggles.

Perhaps it was for the better then that she lost some of her friends and had to have a sit down while she looked for them. An ice-cream in one hand, she pulled down her phone and sent out a couple of texts.

To: Chantal
okay so i totally lost you somewhere. i can't even spot your head above everyone elses. plz help. x

To: Parker
i'm lost and a little tipsy and am totally a damsel in distress if you feel like coming to my rescue. also i'm terrible at these carnival games so if you want to do the cheesy thing and win me one i'll love you forever x

To: Haezia
gorgeous, i haven't seen you all day. hope you're not missing me too much xxx

To: Kara
how's your first carnival? haven't seen you in a while, please tell me the sigmas haven't corrupted that precious brain of yours

Her common sense, which was, through some miracle, chiming in from time to time, told her that it would make much more sense to stay where she was. However, just because her common sense was still functioning, it didn't mean she was going to listen to it. She shoved her phone into her bag and stood up, continuing to eat her ice cream. She wasn't even entirely sure where she'd lost... whoever she'd been with. It was probably because she had really wanted an ice cream and had, knowing her, just surged off to get herself one. And now she was lost. Well, she wasn't lost, but she had lost her friends. She wasn't lost, they were. Or, at least, that was her reasoning.

Annabelle dropped her phone onto her bed. Her head was beginning to throb. She needed to sleep. An hour would probably shift the pain in time for the carnival. Most of the people she knew would be pre-gaming anyway. Right now, that was the last thing she wanted to be doing. She kicked her shoes off and rested her head on the cool pillow, letting her eyes slowly close.

Annabelle woke with a start. The late afternoon sunlight still illuminated the room through the blinds. She hadn't missed the carnival. That was good. And the throbbing in her head had stopped. She stood and shimmied out of her dress. Annabelle grabbed a t-shirt and a pair of shorts. If the weather this afternoon had been anything to go by, it was going to be a warm evening. No need for sleeves. She grabbed her boots and wiggled her feet into them, checking her phone while she did.

There was a message from an unfamiliar number. She quickly scanned over it. Oh God...it was Parker. She'd missed a text from Parker. She saved his number to her contacts list and sent a message back.

Parker:
Hey, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I was absolutely beat. I'll be at the carnival later though.

Annabelle read over the message, checking for typing errors. Satisfied that it was good, she pressed the 'send' button and slipped her phone back into her pocket. Annabelle realised that the house was abnormally quiet. She fished her phone out of her pocket.

Lex, Chantal
I appear to have awoken in a different century. Where are you guys at?

Annabelle grabbed her shoulder bag and headed down to the carnival in lieu of waiting for a reply. The carnival had been her favourite part of her own Rush Week, and it was still a highlight for her as she walked through the rush of lights and music. Squeals of joy and a little fear came from the people on the rides. Annabelle got herself a bag of cotton candy and wandered through the crowds, looking out for someone that she knew.

The pre-game was winding down now. An unspoken agreement appeared to have passed over the crowd that it was time for the carnival. Blake wasn't exactly disappointed with the news. It was starting to get hot in the house with everyone in it. He drained the last beer from his bottle and stood it on the side. He was kinda bummed out that he hadn't managed to find Lory or Cam in the crowd, but the girl he had been talking to almost made up for it. Still, he was pretty sure that he would catch up with the girls at the carnival.

It wasn't until Blake stepped outside that he realised how buzzed he was. Inside, he had barely noticed how the alcohol was hitting, but now he was. He wasn't drunk, far from it, but there was a warm fuzziness that meant he was going to avoid a hangover, so long as he didn't touch any more alcohol. Pfft, he thought, like that was gonna happen.

At the carnival, Blake took a moment to take in the view. Most of the girls on campus seemed to have opted for shorts or plunging necklines, or both in some cases. This was one of the many reasons Blake loved the carnival. Who wouldn't love an evening of alcohol, funfairs and beautiful women? As he was walking, his phone buzzed. He saw Lory's name appear on the screen.

Come escort your favorite blonde around the carnival

Despite himself, Blake laughed as he began typing.

To Lory:
Favorite? Really? ;) Sure. Let me know where you are and I'll come find you

Haezia was seldom late to things.

Odd, perhaps, considering her sorority's rep for being so dreadfully irresponsible, but truth be told Haezia was typically rather punctual. She was on time to all her lectures, and her papers were always ready for the due date. In fact, she was usually very organised in comparison to any university student, let alone a Zeta.

And yet, when she arrived at the carnival, it was already in full swing. Pink plumes of cotton candy bloomed from white sticks, and left and right, loud chatter and giggles of delight set a scene of euphoric enjoyment. She loved them; carnivals. For whatever reason, bright colors and ferris wheels brought out a childish cheer in her, and she smiled brightly as she wandered about the various stands, resisting the urge to try and top every high score in sight.

Looking to her phone, she smiled, replying to the texts in the hopes of finding a couple of beloved amigos to hang out with.

TO// Lory
Puh-lease. Like I would miss the chance to beat your ass at bumper cars. ;)

She began to text a reply to Lex when a head of familiar, chocolate locks caught her attention. Smirk sliding onto her face, Haezia strode over to the girl. Slipping beside her, Haezia nimbly pinched a chocolate button from the Theta's ice cream, popping into her mouth with a mischievous smile. "Long time no see."

"So? Any frats catch your eye?" Alicia smiled cheerfully over the pink cloud of sugar, pinching away fragments with slender fingers, and popping the frays into her mouth with zest. She was particularly energetic today, even by her standards, the merry atmosphere crossed with the typical excitement brought on by a new environment had send her from Little Miss Sunshine status to Little Miss Supernova.

Seb, on the other hand, was far more subdued. His typical, relaxed self, seemingly unperturbed by the frantic buzz going on around them. He shrugged as he stole a piece of her cotton candy. "Not sure, yet. Kappa Alpha looks alri-" "Wow. What a thrillseeker." Seb rolled his eyes, continuing pointedly. "And Sigma whatever looks like fun, but dad keeps saying that I should try out for the Betas... I don't know. What about you?"

Alicia frowned, clearly torn. "Ugh. I don't know, either! Dad's totally team Alpha, obviously, but the Thetas seem really nice, and the Zetas-" Seb let out a bark of laughter, "Al, two drinks and you are gone. I don't really think you're Zeta material." Alicia scowled, "Excuse me, but it's not all about drinking. I could win them over with my charisma and wit." "Yeah, good luck with that." Alicia shoved him in light-hearted annoyance. "Don't need luck." She aired in joking arrogance, before noting her empty candy floss stick. "I'm going to go get another one of these- meet me by the bumper cars later, 'kay?" She disappeared into the crowd before Seb had a chance to respond, and he sighed in exasperation.

With a new stick of candyfloss in hand, Alicia took a seat on a bench, smiling at the color swirling about her as she looked thoughtfully over the three sorority fliers. "This is going to be harder than I thought..." She mumbled.

Lex had just restarted her search for her friends when her phone buzzed. She somehow managed to extract it from her handbag without spilling her ice cream or getting it on her top, which she considered an achievement. A text from Annabelle awaited her.

To: Annabelle
I'm near the popcorn stand. Also, you're probably the only 100% sober person here, just saying. Should I come find you or will you find me?

She'd only just sent the text when a hand reached over and stole a precious chocolate button from her ice cream. She whirled around, an angry retort on her tongue. However, on seeing who stood there, she just grinned, all anger dissipating.

"If I didn't know better, I'd swear you were avoiding me. Afraid that I'd steal all of your pledges?" She asked teasingly, resting an elbow on the girl's shoulder. Haezia was gorgeous, there was no denying that. And, had things gone differently, Lex totally would have gone there. But they were friends above anything else, and Lex was perfectly happy keeping it that way. Especially with her other... arrangements.

"So, are you going to disappear on me again, or are we actually going to hang out?" She asked, pouting a little. "Because everyone else appeared to disappear on me, so you're stuck with me, whether you like it or not," she said, throwing her arm around Haezia. In the midst of all the happy chatter, she was aware of someone- or several someones- yelling at each other. While it did sound and look out of place, she also wasn't surprised. Some people were just more volatile when drunk. And, judging by the amount of people that had been at the Sigma pregame, a vast majority of people at the carnival had to be even just a little bit drunk.
