Relationship History
"Nonexistent, I'm afraid."
Shockingly, Ian has little experience when it comes to romance. He has always been low on the social totem pole and while he certainly hopes that this year will be different, he hasn't allowed himself to get his hopes too high.

Virgin?
"What?!"
Yes

Body Shape
"I'm not familiar with the terms you gave me."
ImageIan is tall and a bit lanky, but overall, he is in good shape for someone who isn't on a sports team. He does have some muscle, but the only sport you could really see him competing in is Track. He's never going to stand out as a physically strong or fit guy. He isn't a jock, after all.

"I'm not that awkward anymore...
Ectomorph

Hair
Image"I like it. I think it makes me look more attractive. In a nerdy sort of way, of course. None of the Royals are going to look my way, of course.

"It's not noticeable, is it?"
A small mole on his left cheek

Fashion Sense
"I'm a bit formal for my age... I'm just more comfortable that way."
Ian usually dresses in smart, semi-formal clothing. It is not unusual to see him wearing a tie beneath a turtleneck sweater even in California weather. He will wear a t-shirt at times, but he absolutely refuses to wear shorts outside of swim trunks. He simply feels more comfortable with layers of clothing and it certainly gives him an aura of respectability in place of the piles of money his peers have access to.

Overall Attractiveness
"I'm okay-looking, I guess?"
While Ian lacks the superstar beauty of the Royals, he certainly cleans up nicely, particularly if he takes extra care of his appearance. With curly black hair and soulful blue eyes, he is good-looking in the nerdy sort of way. He will usually be called "cute" rather than "hot" or "gorgeous", however.

✘Low Self-Esteem ✘Quirky ✘Scatterbrained

Personality
In some ways (okay a lot of ways), Ian fits the stereotype of a nerdy high school student. He gets a bit nervous around girls he likes, he does well in class, he almost always carries his laptop around with him, and he is not exactly a fan of exercise, though he manages to stay in good shape. Ian loves anime, video games, fantasy, sci-fi, and other "nerdy" genres, but he is not above engaging in social activity with his peers. He honestly would attend a teenage party and spend at least an hour beforehand preparing for it and hoping/praying he doesn't embarrass himself. Yet, he is not shy when it comes to subjects that he is familiar with and one can draw him out of his shell by getting him started on something that he is very passionate about.Image

Politically, Ian is libertarian and very passionate on that viewpoint. He believes that the government should be as small and possible and that the economy is best left to the free market. He is very much for private charity, but against most taxation. He also believes that the Federal Reserve was behind Kennedy's death because he intended to have the Treasury issue monetary notes backed by precious metals, cutting them off. He is also suspicious about government activity and having his computer files and internet history being recorded by the government, so he makes sure to secure his laptop as much as possible and use independent search engines and operating systems when surfing the web. Comic Cons are also, in his own words, "serious business" and works on his costume diligently.

At school, Ian mostly hangs out with other nerds. Most jocks annoy him, mostly because of how they treat him, some of them starting from elementary school. Still, he does his best to judge people individually and there are a few jocks that he thinks are good or at least okay people. School can be hell for him, depending on the social climate, but he looks forward to the future, hoping to get a degree in something computer related or economics. In his spare time, Ian has also learned how to hack computers, mostly those with lax security, but he has never abused it.

Strengths
Ian is very good with computers and is very knowledgeable at economics. He truly has a bright future in quite a few STEM fields. He can make a lot of nerdy/geeky topics seem cool if only he keeps himself from self-conscious. Overall, he's an interesting guy and can be quite cool in nerdy way.

Weaknesses
Ian has been conditioned to feel out of his league when it comes to the other cliques. Really, he would be happier if he could only get over his feelings of nervousness and inferiority, but that is better said than done.

Mental or Behavioral Disabilities Image
"It can be annoying."
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Life Philosophy
"You can't please all the people all time."

Short Term Goals
Actually live a memorable senior year. This is his last year of high school, after all.

Long Term Goals
To get into a good college.

Aspirations
"I've always been good with numbers..."
To become a well-known economist.

Home Town
Los Angeles

ImageHistory
Ian was born into a middle-class household. His mom is actually a nurse while his dad is a doctor. Ian was born an only child and, combined with some of his natural awkwardness, he never made too many friends in school save one or two at a time. He's known most of the people who went through the same public school system, and with some of them, he was good friends, though a couple of the friends he managed to make slowly started drifting away during middle school because of people's natural tendencies to form cliques. It was in middle school that Ian began to display a higher than average intelligence. He answered most questions the teacher asked him correctly and started taking advanced classes. Of course, some of the more popular kids labeled him a "nerd" or "geek", placing him squarely with the unpopular kids.

It was about this time that Ian noticed the abuse of power around him. The richer kids seemed to always get away with things that the rest of the students could not. At first, Ian believed this was because of their wealth, but then, he realized it was the connections the wealth spawned. He read Marx, but, looking at Communism, decided it was human nature for systems to be corrupted, positions of authority most of all. It is around this time, he started paying attention to politics, Ron Paul in particular. Throughout middle school, Ian became acquainted with anime and Japanese/Chinese culture, which interested him greatly. Along with these interests, he dove into Star Wars, and other nerdy obsessions, cementing his status as a nerd. Throughout high school, he stuck with the friends he had, but, at times, he has longed to goto parties and other "popular student" events.

What was junior year like for you?Image
"About normal. I mean, I went to school, hung out with friends, and worked a few hours every weekend. My parents got me a new car for my good grades. I didn't get invited to many parties, but I wouldn't say it was miserable or anything. It was just... normal."

How do you feel about returning back to Hollywood High?
"Well, BHHS gives me a lot of opportunities. The classes are excellent and the name alone is enough to impress any college. The extracurricular are fun and all and really, it's like attending a private college if you know what I mean. I hope to be social this year, but there are still people whom I consider friends if I feel like fading in the background, but need some company."

Have you started looking into colleges/universities?
"Definitely! It is only a year away and I'm pretty sure I can get a scholarship. Still, though I'm more of a deist, I did break down in prayer more than once!"

Group/Clique
"Well, it's kind of hard to tell sometimes. I mean, I do well in school and everything, but it's not my whole life. I love anime, politics, video games, and other things so I might be more of a nerd than a geek. Or is it more of a geek than a nerd? I can never get those words straight!"
Nerd/Geek

How do you feel about your group/clique?
"We may be the bottom of the barrel, but some of us will really take off after high school and probably have little Royals as our children. There is always interesting conversation and, really, we're not total losers!"

Average Grades
"Well, that such a surprise!
A's

Study Habits
"I try to get everything out of the way as quick as I can. There's no point in letting it pile up! Of course, I might throw myself totally into a project and not be done until the night before it's due!"

Clubs?
"I might rejoin the debate club and maybe join a few new ones..."

Who said good things couldn't come to those who started out the night doing shots of whiskey? When Fergus arrived, Ian didn't think it would turn out well for anyone as Normani didn't seem to like him that well and she could be downright scary if pissed off, but it seemed that Fergus brought her the right gift and she even turned his way and invited him to dance with her and the others on the dance floor. True, it wasn't a dance with just her, but he didn't want to say no to her. He never could anyway.

"Of course, I won't!" he told her before turning to Hunter with a grin, "Do you want to dance? I feel like dancing. Follow me!"

Unfortunately for him, he didn't quite know how to dance beyond what he knew from infrequent attendance of Jewish celebrations at his synagogue. Still, he couldn't just stand there. He tried to move with the music and act out what he remembered. What followed was a sort of circular dance that he felt wasn't too bad. Fergus, at least, lifted a glass from where he was sitting at the bar. He also lifted his glass up at Normani in acknowledgement and speaking of her, Ian wondered if he could maybe dance with her, just one time tonight. Out of bravery that had more to do with alcohol than he'd like to admit, he made his way towards her as casually as he could.

"Would you like to dance with me?"

His face was flushed and he felt terribly nervous, but he still managed to move with the beat of the music without looking awkward. He hoped so at least.

Being told to stop drinking and to third wheel with Olivia and Lennox for the night was the last thing that Katherine wanted to hear. She was already intoxicated but the party had just started, so the idea of spending the rest of the night without a drink in hand didn't sound attractive. Plus, Lennox was the one who set her up for failure with Trayson. It wasn't like she had really tried with Tray, but Kat was used to things being handed to her, and she didn't want to have to find some weirdo for him. He was really attractive, but she wasn't that invested in the pursuit. It wasn't like she could get Sam either, though. Angelina definitely seemed like bigger competition than Raquel did, so if she wasn't going to fight for Tray, she definitely didn't see herself fighting for Sam. But she wanted someone tonight. She wanted a boy who she didn't have to compete for, and yet she wanted him to still be cute, and also wealthy, an A-lister, and someone who, in general, would abide by her unnecessarily high standards.

"I actually don't want Trayson or Sam," she decided, linking her arm with Olivia's free one. "I'll find one a million times better than both of them, but if I don't, then you guys have to promise to get rid of Angel and Raquel so I can pick who I want, okay?" she demanded, pushing her hair behind her shoulder as she tried to collect herself again. "So did you ask Liv to go to the dance with you, Knox?" she said, turning to him as she pulled the two farther down the beach, towards the dance floor. "I told him he should take you to Disneyland and ask you there, but obv he didn't do that because you would have invited me, right?" She looked from Knox, to Liv, and then back to Knox, as if her not getting an invitation to a potential Disneyland trip was going to be enough to her to end her friendship with both of them. By now, Kat didn't care about being a third wheel, but once they reached the dance floor and she spotted Normani and some other A-list girls she knew, she was over Olivia and Lennox. They were too boring, and as soon as she unlinked arms with Olivia, she grabbed a drink from the bar and made her way onto the dance floor. Was she really that drunk, or was Mani actually dancing next to, or with Ian?! First this Daniel phase, and now she was into IAN? Kat was sure that Mani was on drugs. What other excuse could there be?

Outfit ♕ Location: Normani Devereux's Home (Beach) ♕ Theme Song ♕ Mood: Jovial

Of course, who else would greet her on the dance floor other than her cheer babes!? Normani honestly shouldn't have been so surprised, but the second that she and Honey were on the dance floor, she flung herself into Dinah's arms, rocking to the sound of what she believed to be Justin Bieber. Could have been a lot of people, but she was honestly down for anything as long as it enabled her to dance. And it always helped when she was with her fellow Devil Girls. The group was always in sync whenever they got together, recalling long nights after practice or when one of them hosted girl nights where they would come up with the dumbest routines that they would never actually use for a competition unless they were on the street. Normani's bond with the Devil Girls solidified her role as their leader and theirs as her subjects, but she had also managed to find kindred spirits in them. The cheerleaders, while mostly grouped with jocks, were hers. And, despite Catalina's mood, were always a recipe for one hell of a good time.

In the midst of playfully twerking on Dinah, whose hands her own hands covered on her hips in the midst of a laugh as she leaned back against the much taller girl, Normani's gaze fell on Ian, who wasn't much farther away. Fergus had opted to stay at the bar, which was fine with her since no one could kill her vibe on the dance floor. But I an...Ian was precious. His skin had taken on a nice pink shade that he couldn't even attempt to blame on the setting sun even if he tried, he was highly not moving to the beat of the music, and he seemed so out of his element that an actual laugh bubbled forth before Normani could contain herself. And when he asked her to dance, how...how was she actually expected to say no to that? "First off, you're gonna need to loosen up, sugar," she practically (and she couldn't be blamed for it because why not make him even more flustered than he already was?) purred when she stepped closer to him and placed her hands on his hips lightly. Luckily for them, one of her favorite Teyana Taylor tracks and the same one she had performed choreographer from Sean Bankhead began playing. It was the perfect recipe to get a person "looser" for dancing.

"Don't overthink dancing. Just move to the rhythm...just like that," Normani instructed patiently, coaxing Ian to move to the same beat as her, sliding up closer to him so that they were dancing more together instead of with some unnecessary space. Which was, well, it was easy considering how many people had gravitated to the dance floor once it seemed the majority of the Devil Girls and two Royals were on it. For Normani, this was harmless. She wasn't particularly attracted to Ian, though she could see the appeal. Dancing...dancing to her was second-nature. More than that, it was about enjoyment, nothing deep. She'd danced with Animals, Geeks, Drifters and the like; she didn't have to discriminate when it came to partners. Which was why when she caught Katherine's eye over Ian's shoulder, all she did was raise an eyebrow at the brunette before returning her gaze to the male in front of her.

Releasing his hips, she grinned, still rocking to the sensuous beat the DJ put his own spin on, hips subtly winding with the memory of a routine that would put all eyes on her. At the moment, however, she didn't need to do much. They already were. "See," she shot Ian a wide grin, "Nothing too complicated." And she probably would have continued on dancing, maybe mindlessly falling back onto Catalina if Katherine's insistent, shocked gaze didn't pull her towards the brunette. "Save me a dance, love," she said lowly to Ian and winked at him, before sliding through the throng of writhing bodies easily to be in front of her brunette bestie. "Honestly, Kat, fix your face. You'll give me the impression that you want to be the one that dances with me." Normani stated suggestively, with a little playful quirk of her lips.

Okay, he was nervous and he could not quite stop himself from noticing how beautiful Normani was even in the flashing lights of the dance floor, but she was a remarkably good teacher when it came to dancing and Ian was always a good teacher. Perhaps he stiffened at first when they touched, but soon enough, he was actually matching her movements with his own and while he wasn't as good as her, obviously, he was still keeping pace with her. He smiled at her.

"You're right. Thank you," he told her. She seemed prepared to dance with him more, but unfortunately, even he could feel the gaze burning into them. At her words, Ian gave her a smile.

"You don't even need to ask."

As he watched her walk over to Katherine, Ian suppressed the urge to sigh. He really hoped this social ladder bullshit would loosen up this year. Still, he was on the dance floor and he wasn't dancing too badly at the moment, so he decided to try to enjoy himself. Normani did imply she'd want to dance later, after all.
