Appearance:

Alan is a rather average boy. Just under 5'9" and topping out at 70 kg. Reasonably fit as well, having been a rugby player, if on the small side. His short brown hair is curly and flat, pressed against his scalp in a rather unflattering fashion. In terms of fashion Alan doesn't really have much awareness. He typically wore whatever the hell he wanted with little concern of his appearance. Now he has even less, appear chaotic and disheveled at the best of times. His eyes are dark green and he has a scar across his collar at the base of his neck. Also he has an New Zealand accent strong enough to kill.

Powers: Sonic and Spectral Absorption

Alan has the capability to absorb light and sound from his surroundings to improve his physical and mental capabilities. The area he affects extends up to 12 meters from him in every direction. Absorbing light is notably more powerful then absorbing sound in terms of enhancing effects. The action of absorbing reduces the intensity of the given energy source. The volume of sound would decrease until only utter silence can be perceived by those inside the affected area. Light absorption works in the same way, resulting in an area of pitch black. Complete and utter darkness, no one outside can see in and no one inside can see even a centimeter in front of their face.

The advantages he gets from absorbing are somewhat better suited to allowing to operate in darkness and silence. First his physical strength and speed is ramped up. Not massively and dependent on the amount he takes in. Typically he can double and he reaches just slower than Olympic level sportsman. In terms of mental ability he gains a little suite of telepathic abilities. At first he gains the capability to communicate with others within their own minds, direct telepathic communication. Upon increasing his strength the messages become clearer and more detailed until he can transmit almost all of what he can perceive. At the furthermost charged end of the scale he can even detect the minds and presence of those around him. Useful when in pitch black.

Weaknesses:

To maintain the area of absorption Alan has to focus. The the larger the area and more he takes in the more he has to concentrate meaning that it becomes difficult to maintain his power and actually achieve or focus on something else. His capabilities is severely reduced without light and sound to feed from, in the dark and without plentiful ambient noises. Additionally he has a unfortunate trait that causes his body to glow and hum slightly. Neither of these are noticeable unless there is a natural absence of light and sound. Perhaps his body can't handle it but the amount he can absorb is limited between rests. Although there isn't much physical strain that Alan can detect

Personality:

Alan seems unflinchingly optimistic, he pushes himself to the limit to see the best in every situation. Unfortunately that puts him on the edge, if he loses that optimism he has very little to fall back on. Despair and depression are just waiting behind the ever present smile. Half of what he does is for the benefit of others, his smile and the fact he enjoys supporting and helping others. The kind of guy who would hold the door open for everyone in the room. He in fact feels terrible if he fails someone in something, even if he was never asked. Besides all this he reasonably outgoing, incredibly tough, rough, dependable and independent in typical New Zealander style.
