Gemma has always been very confident and outgoing, usually the first person to start up a conversation. She had no trouble making friends in school and is not the least bit shy about her body. Gemma was born in a small town in Missouri. Her childhood was a normal one she had a loving mother and father as well as a protective older brother. She was always very popular in school but her grades were always a little lacking. She barely managed to maintain a C average even if she studied hard, she just never really got the hang of any of it. Her favorite class was music class.
Her perfect world started to crumble when she was 11, her mom became pregnant at a late age and ended up losing the baby. After the miscarriage, her mother was never the same. It caused a downward spiral for the loving mother, who turned to alcohol and drugs, anything to dull the pain of losing her unborn child. The family tried their best to hide her mother's trouble, knowing just how fast word traveled in the small town. They managed to keep it under the radar until about a year later when the woman overdosed and was rushed to the hospital, but it was too late.
The loss of her mother hit Gemma hard but she did her best to keep the pain hidden, only crying when she was alone in her room, wanting to be strong for her dad and brother. Her grades fell even more after her mom's death as she didn't really care about it anymore. She focused more on her friends and shopping than school.
Gemma was 17 when she was first scouted by a talent scout. He'd wanted to take Gemma to the big apple then but her father refused so she started out with small shoots close to her hometown. When she turned 18 Gemma really wanted to go to New York, wanting bigger publicity, as her true dream was to become a singer. But her father still wasn't thrilled at the idea of her moving so far away from home by herself, and not wanting to upset her father, she stayed.
A few months ago, after begging and pestering her father for years, he finally gave in and agreed to let her go on one condition, her brother had to go with her.
Since coming to New York the strive for perfection has grown stronger as there are a lot of models fighting for the same jobs. She's started doing drugs to help keep her active and to keep from gaining weight. She's afraid though, what her brother will say if he were to find out, especially considering what happened with their mother.
